  1. "Alright everyone gather around!" The Ottawa Lynx coach says as he blows the whistle at the Ottawa Lynx preseason practice. Armani Calamari has been subtly impressing the staff at Ottawa with his improvement since his time at Philadelphia and the team has a surprise for him. "It's time to announce captains and alternative captains! These guys are showing off what they can do time and time again and I am glad to announce who gets the patch this season. The main captain for this season is Ben Aky!" Ben smiles as he shakes the coaches hand and the team gives him a small applause. "Hey man congratulations" Armani says as he shakes Ben's hand "you definitely deserve that patch, glad to be playing with you" "Alright settle down" the coach smiles "the first alternative captain we can announce is Armani Calamari!" Armani looks shocked but quickly recovers and smiles as he shakes everyone's hand. "And the next alternative captain is Alex Parise!" The goalie has a similar reaction to Armani "now we will be putting the new patches on by the next practice. We have a lot of work to do this season but I do see us improving as the season goes on. Can't wait to see what you guys do this season!" "Man we have a team that can be so good soon you two " Ben smiles at Armani and Alex "but it's gonna be a process. I do think coach made a good decision and I do think you will be great alternative captains. Hell I think you two can end up being main captains somewhere!" "Thanks man" Armani says "means a lot coming from you. Now come on we got some more practice to do" We cut to a few games into the season and the Lynx are celebrating a good shootout win over the Minnesota Storm. Armani had also achieved a big milestone and had gotten his first VHLM goal and 2 assists. "Hey man that was a clutch performance there" Ben smiles in between drinks of water "getting your first goal is always memorable and I am glad to see you get it" "Man I am so excited" Armani cheers "that is one thing I can cross off the old bucket list" the coach then settles down the team and prepares his post game speech "This was an amazing game from us" the coach smiles "we did not give up and we played our hearts out. I believe the game puck however should go to our center Armani Calamari for his first ever goal in this league! Congratulations!" The team cheers as Armani grabs the puck and puts it into his travel backpack "we still have a lot of work to do so let's not let up. I am very proud of all of you today" "I am just glad to see us play so well against one of the better teams in the league" Alex says "we could defend better though I think we need to definitely work on that" "Noted Alex we will focus on that in practice. But for now just go rest because you have all earned it!" They all get up to go back to the hotel in high spirits.
  2. 1.Not 100% sure but maybe defending could be improved on. 2. So far Armani is performing beyond my expectations 3. I do not watch the NHL enough to give a valid opinion 4. Usually some kind of chicken 5. I have not watched the Olympics but go USA! 6. I usually love BBQ sauce. Other then that I am not a big condiments guy
  3. From the Ottawa Sports Newspaper: New Ottawa center Armani Calamari seems to have improved a lot from his days in Philadelphia. He has already gotten three assists in the start of the VHLM season and just seems to be overall a much more confident player. The man himself had this to say: "It is definitely a learning process for both of my VHLM seasons. I learned what I could from my time in Philadelphia first and now being in Ottawa has definitely helped me improve more. I think the main thing that has helped my confidence was me being named alternative captain because they definitely seems to have a lot of confidence in me going forward. It will still take a long time for all of us to get to our potential but we are definitely ready to do our best to impress." Ottawa latest game was an overtime loss to one of the best teams in the league so that does show that they are improving. It might be a middle of the pack season for them but the improvements will definitely be there as they work on getting better. The fans definitely seem to be interested in this young team so we will see what happens going forward. Good luck Lynx!
  4. Excited to be an Alternative Captain!

  5. It will soon be time for another VHL season and Armani Calamari has been working his butt off to improve for his new team at Ottawa. He has had to adjust to the city that he had never lived in or visited before but is now working on a few things in practice. His skating and faceoffs have improved over the offseason and he seems to be taking the right steps towards becoming a top line center. The man himself has done an interview with a local Ottawa newspaper about what he has been working on: "Yeah Dad has been a good help when it comes to getting me to improve and I do feel the difference. Ottawa is a place I will have to get used to in the meantime, but the people seem extremely passionate and I like them already for it. Many people here have already come up to me for interviews like this one so I hope I can reward their excitement. Can't say that it does not make me feel a bit nervous however but then again a lot of things can make people nervous and it is normal." Armani will be making his debut in Ottawa soon enough and we at Canada Sports wish him the best of luck in his new city.
  6. He mostly eats sprinkle ones with chocolate
  7. Armani Calamari shoots another slapshot onto the net. He has been working on practicing his passing and shooting in his local hockey rink so he can be ready for the upcoming VHLM draft. He wiped some sweat off his brown that had come up despite how cold it was in the rink and prepared to shoot another one. "Hey Armani!" His dad said skating onto the rink despite losing his balance a bit because he has not been able to skate consistently in quite a while "come on you have done enough. Take a break and let's go get something to eat." "Yeah you are right" Armani said breathing out and stretching "but maybe you should work on your skating a bit" "Son I am over 50 years old give me a break." His dad chuckled as they got off the ice and headed to a local Tim Hortons for some donuts "so why are you so nervous? You were not really hitting your shots the way you usually do" "It's just being nervous because of the draft" Armani admits "I don't know where I am gonna be picked so it is weighing on my mind. Plus what if I am not picked at all?" "Son you have a pluse and you can play. I think you will be picked by someone" "Yeah I know but the nervousness won't go away. The draft is today after all. I think we should just watch it at home instead of flying to where it is being held" "Son I am not flying to America right now of course we are watching it at home" they both share a laugh and Armani checks his phone "Dad! The draft is happening right now!" Armani nearly chokes on his coffee as he notices "first pick already went live! It wasn't me by the way" "Well then" his dad said as he grabbed a bag he brought with him "good thing I brought the team hats with us!" He then set up a live stream so people could watch them react to the draft. They would unfortunately have a long time to wait in that Tim Hortons as more people begin to notice who they are amd one person puts the draft on TV. Armani would not be drafted until late in the draft and in the meantime he answered some questions from the patrons "Yeah I am planning on staying here until I am picked" Armani smiled "I have no reason to leave right now I am comfy." As he eats another donut, his phone rings and it is a call from Ottawa. He motions for the restaurantto quiet down as he answers it "you have reached Armani Calamari" "Hey this is the GM of the Ottawa Linx how are you doing?" "I am watching the draft at a Tim Hortons so I am pretty good" "Haha yeah I saw that you are doing that. Anyways we are about to draft you with our upcoming pick, are you excited?" "Sir I am ready to prove all those people who did not pick me dead wrong" "That is what we like to hear!" Aftet the pick was announced on the TV, Armani grabbed an Ottawa hat and celebrated with the patrons and his father.
  8. 1. Well they got me as a steal so that is pretty good. I just hope to bring big time stats here. 2. Armani is familiar with Canada sohw is definitely feeling right at home. He did want to be drafted by a Canadian team. 3. Definitely a vote so everyone is on the same page. 5. I am answering this the day after the draft so I already know. They did not grab Carey Price. 6. I have many favorites but a highlight is Where is My Mind by the Pixes 7. I don't follow hockey that closely but I love football
  9. The VHLE GM openings are ready for applicants and I have thrown my hat into the ring. I have no prior GM experience beyond a WJC spot in SHL but I feel like I could be a great GM if I am given a chance. I am willing to learn about the sim as much as I can and I am willing to help keep everyone as active as I can get them to be. One thing that I hope to be able to accomplish is to have a team that everyone would be happy to play for with it's activity. I would give out weekly awards to highlight every players best moments. I would also hope to have end of the year awards that are given to both the best players and the best locker room people. I hope that I would be able to provide an experience that people would remember fondly and maybe even have the alumni stick around the locker room as guests though I do not know if I would allow all the alumni into the team locker rooms. I hope that when you eventually come to choose the GMs you will consider taking a chance on me.
  10. Hey could I try this out? I have a lot of sim league experience and I would love the opportunity
  11. When we look at a player like Armani Calamari we see a player that has a lot of potential and upside but might need a lot of seasoning before he truly reaches that potential. A center from Toronto Canada, he has spent a waiver season on the Philadelphia Reapers where he was used very sparingly. However it seems like he has treated his waiver season as a learning experience and did not let his lack of playing time get to him. As said by Armani himself to us at Daily Toronto Sports: "It's all about learning and growing. Some players might not like just having that kind of experience, but I love it. The coaches and players helped me learn new techniques and I feel like I have grown a ton thanks to that. I would love to go back to Philadelphia and play with a lot of the same guys but if I end up somewhere different that would be alright as well. But I feel like I am growing to the point where I feel like I am becoming more then just a 4th line center and I am very much looking forward to more experiences and playing time" While it definitely seems like where he plays does not matter much in the long run, he has expressed some desire to play a bit closer to home and has definitely considered a Canadian team like the Hounds a possibility. Another quote from the man himself: "Now look I do not dislike the time I spent in America. But there is a part of me that missed Canada and more specifically Toronto. As a local Toronto boy who was born in Alberta, it would be nice to have more time closer to my family. Plus I really missed that true Canadian Madelyn syrup. My father especially missed me since he was single for most of the time I spent in Philadelphia though he has since gotten a new girlfriend who is actually extremely nice." Recently it appears that Armani has been doing a lot of training in preparation for his first full VHLM season. He has been working on his skills as a Center in the gym and thinks he is ready to be at least a 3rd of maybe even 2nd line talent. Again we have a quote from him: "Do not think that just because it is the offseason that I will just slack off. Being the best is not about that, it is about working and getting better all the time. I hope that with the work I am doing that I can be at the very least a 3rd line talent. Heck, maybe even a 2nd line talent. All I am asking for is a chance to be great and I hope that chance is coming up soon. My eyes are on the prize, and I am ready for it all" Well these quotes certainly seem to indicate that he is ready for the upcoming draft. While we currently do not have a timetable for the draft, rest assured we will be watching where he goes closely.
  12. 1. I am extremely excited for the VHLM draft but I have no idea where I'll be taken 3. I'd like to see the series last until 7 for the memes but i think it ends in 5 or 6. 4. Even though the season did not end the way we wanted, I qm very happy to have played for you 7. Unfortunately I do not think so. I'd love to see a reverse sweep for the memes however. 8. My favorite summer food is grilled Italian sausages 9. Honestly I disagree. I prefer pecan pie to that.
  13. One day closer to the VHLM draft

  14. Armani Calamari starts up a stream once he finally gets home to Toronto from Philadelphia. The waiver season has been an amazing learning experience and he is eager for the draft. He had started the stream to answer some question from the media: "I'm Matt Bane from the Philadelphia Weekly' one of the reporters started to say "how would you feel about getting drafted by the Reapers and playing for them again?" "That would be fine with me" Armani smiles "People of Philadelphia are crazy but I love them for that. That doesn't mean I would not be happy playing for any team that drafts me however" "My name is Sarah Collins from Golbal Hockey" another reporter says "how would you feel about being drafted somewhere a bit closer to home? For example the Hounds are here in Toronto" "That would also be great! I will admit I was a little bit homesick in Philly but i managed to get over it by just exploring the city. I love Toronto and I would be happy to stay close to home" "But wouldn't it feel awkward going back to Philadelphia to play against them?" Matt asks "Weird I thought the media was supposed to be unbiased" Armani remarks getting a laugh from everyone even Matt "but honestly that would not be awkward to me because in the end hockey is a game we try to win and they would just be my opponents"
  15. Great day despite some frustrations

  16. Have a great day everyone

Thanks, hope you have/had a good day too!

  17. 1. My takeaway is that at the very least we tried our absolute best and that's what matters 3. Thanks for being here and playing your hearts out 4. Honestly I'm not sure. Being back in Philadelphia would be nice. 6. It was a beginning season of growth for me and next season I hope to grow even more 7. I kind of want Montreal to take it but I see Tampa in 6 9. I'd say ether Superman or the Hulk, with Spider-Man being a close second
  18. I came to Philadelphia as a waiver free agent because I honestly wanted to ring chase before I was drafted. But obviously that did not work out because the Reapers were eliminated in six games. But honestly? That is OK because I had a lot of fun this season with Philadelphia and I consider it a great start to Armani Calamari's career. Philadelphia is a great place to be and even though we did not live up to the expectation of a potential ring I am happy that I came to the Reapers regardless. Yes, even when my first two assists were stolen by resim I got over it especially since I think he got an assist after that regardless. Now the next chapter is obviously the draft where I can be drafted by ether the Reapers again or any other minors team. I will happily play for any team that drafts me and considering I do not know much about the teams outside of the Reapers I currently do not have any preferences. I am extremely excited for this draft though I currently have no idea in what round I will be drafted in though I think I am at least worth a late 2nd round pick.
