The battle of 2 letter city names, the battle of Conference. This week we have the Washington DC Dragons and the Los Angeles Stars, located in the North American conference. Both Expansion teams, lets see which Expansion decided on the better Logo and branding for their team.

When a league makes an expansion you need to make sure the name and logo are top notch and some of the best in the league, you want to draw new eyes to the Franchise, you want to draw new sponsors and sometimes even old fans. So let's start out with the Los Angeles Stars. Borrowing from Dallas in the NHL however Los Angeles does it better. You can clearly see the L and A with an Inset star as the slash in the A. the logo is simple but that's not a bad thing here. The Black with silver reminds me of another Los Angeles team, which I think was intentional. Familiarity is a good thing with Branding, this Logo is easy on the Eyes and looks great on a jersey.

The only issues I have with this logo are the Blocks on the top of the L and bottom of the A, they also could have been smaller, reworked into something else. They Pull the eyes away from the center of the logo which has the star. As we talk about this star I feel there could have been more detail. For example a Los Angeles Skyline in the star, or something else then a solid Silver. Maybe a gradient, or the words Los Angeles. The star needs Texture. Overall I like the Logo. It's Solid and works for what the team needed, Simplicity.

Now we move onto the DC Dragons and this logo is nothing but pure beauty and sex. Frankly this might be my most favorite Logo in the Victory Hockey League. Maybe near the top, just looking at the logo quickly it confused me why they went with a Slithering S shape for the dragon. Then I took a closer look and couldn't help but smile and sit looking at it more. What I noticed made me appreciate the logo that much more. The Letters DC are separated by the word Dragons. The top of the Dragon looks to be in the shape of a D and the bottom of the dragon looks to be in the shape of a C.

The shape and size of the font is used beautifully, it fits well for the Theme and flow of this logo. The logo looks AMAZING on a Jersey or banner. However there are issues. For one the Dragon itself is mushed and blends together some details that are hard to find on first glance. For example if it wasn't for the bottom Jaw of teeth i wouldn't be able to see the bottom of the Jaw at all. It's just a bunch of Brown. You also have a Circular dragon then the Text sticks out an inch or so. I also don't really like the fact that the tails start to cover some of the text. However, that is just some nitpicking on my part.

I have the Dragons winning this one. Both are good logos and both are amazing for expansion teams that make you excited to see them. But based on personal preference I like the Dragons logo more.

hello everyone, it's me, birb. I am here to announce that this current season will be my last one as the GM of the New York Americans. It's been a wild ride in the 12 seasons i've GMed here and i think it's time for me to give the wheel of this ship to someone else. I'd like to thank the good people of the blue to have given me this opportunity back in S67, it was a fullfilling experience. I'm not going anywhere tho, you'll still have my garbage jokes to deal with, just as a player only.

5.) Graduating, I didn't like school all that much so i was happy to leave and get out.

    Vs. .

I almost wanted to make this a three way and add Quebec...however I have a match up planned for them so this will be the battle of “Canada” Today we have the Toronto Legion and the Calgary Wranglers. Both Cities mean a lot to me so ill try my best to be partial and put any Bias aside. With that lets start with Toronto

Both teams went through a redesign on Logo, so ill start by talking about the older logos, the logo i'm referring to is the Blue bird used when Toronto won the Season 9 Continental Cup.  a few issues with this logo, what does it have to do with a legion? When I hear that word my brain goes to the Roman Legionnaires automatically. The leafs use a...leaf and the Legion use a Bird? A little confusing. The thing it has going for it is the soft blue blue colors presented in the logo. Now the redesign is 100 times better. The current logo is Clean, the edges the color the outline flawless. This time it has the team name and usually I would dock points for this but they kept the blue bird so the name plate makes sense, and looks good which is a must. Most nameplates are just slapped on the bottom of logos or across the chest lazily, this one tries to make it part of the logo which gives me good feelings. Not only do the wings fold to look like a shield almost feels like a hockey logo. Overall the redesign was needed and worth it.

Now for the Calgary Wranglers. Their first logo which ill dub the Pepsi logo, is again one of many for the rebranding. This first logo is an off center oval with a horse in a red and blue color scheme. Simple, useful but average. However unlike Toronto's logo the Wranglers incorporate part of Calgary into it,...the Calgary Stampede. A bug attraction that brings in much revenue for the city and province. Then the next 2 logos are so similar. The difference is the nameplate which brings this logo down hard. The Horseshoe and Horse is enough of a statement and thank god they dropped the nameplate when they went to logo 3. Which is by far their best. The horse looks fierce, the horseshoe fits well, it flows together nicely and looks strong. The horseshoe is center, and anatomically correct it looks like the real deal. Then the horse, it's got the reins and the mane, all around HUGE steps up and a really great logo.

Now the verdict. I'm torn. The Zamenanta (Pokemon shield legendary Pokemon….by the way ide look at a lawsuit) looking logo for Toronto is a very wide logo. It looks like it fits long on a Jersey compared to Calgary which is centered and dimensioned well. Calgary dropped the blue for Red and Gray and those colors seem boring but I feel between look, composition and can I imagine it on a Jersey Calgary Wranglers take the win with this redesign and win the battle of “Canada”

    NEXT MATCHUP: DC Vs LA

AUTHORS NOTE: I realized AFTER i wrote the article which logo Calgary was using currently. that my fault however it doesn't change the outcome of the decision.
