  1. that is all mind play Berocka to get under the opponents skin/into their mind before the game even begins.
  2. 1. We are on a playoff seed at the moment as we ought to be. Certainly something we can build on for the remaining 55 games. 2. He has been there for a while now, and if he can keep up the pace, he will be a valid contender for the Stoltzi. 3. It would be unfair to make a guess here, as I do know first hand what is in there. Bonnie insisted on IRN-BRU, but occasionally Janser puts in Swiss soft drink Rivella. 4. Strasmore @Phil and Marcel @Morcar80 just need to block more shots, they are nowhere near the top ten of the league smh 5. We burnt it to attract the Navy's attention to get off this godforsaken island. 6. After a rocky season so far, they are in a wild card spot at the moment.
  3. Especially Janser has always had slow starts... or maybe that is only my biased perception
  4. I think you should get one from Calgary's number 22. His career is closing to an end and if he just slightly keeps his production he will end up with 700 points for the Wranglers
  5. We do have a French-speaking time in Geneva (former VHLM Franchise Yukon).
  6. Well technically he is the Captain of the minor league team Vancouver Orcas (according to the Jersey he wears), so no...
  7. It would only get any more Canadian with a bowl of poutine on the logo. Love the moosehead.
  8. why is it that I alway auto-complete 'Relax' with 'don't do it'?
  9. When I joined the SBA (Sim Basketball league) this was sticking out like a sore thumb... A possible reason for that could be that HC Davos is a real life club and Switzerland's record champion (31 cups). Alas they dress in blue/yellow and have a very boring logo.
  10. shouldn't your parents have given you at least one
  11. Graphic courtesy of Leandrofg (Marcel's stats/Daniel's stats) The season S87 has started and our intrepid heroes have played in eight games so far. The Wranglers show a mediocre record of 3-3-2 and sit just outside of a wild card spot at the moment. Freshly-wed and re-elected Captain Daniel Janser leads the Wranglers in points and goals scored, while playing in the second line, giving some much needed veteran presence in a rookie formation. A task which he does not see as a demotion or even relegation. Says Janser: 'I am proud to be chosen to mentor the future of Calgary and I will do my level best to teach them Wrangler-hockey as well as give them confidence in their abilities.' This seems to work out well, Daniel's line mate rookie left winger Larry Abass Jr scored a hattrick in their second match of the season against Prague. Just one match later, the Rotkreuz Center scored all of Calgary's four goals in the 4-3 OT win against the Dragons. It appears that Janser will continue to be a clutch player, regardless of the line he is playing in. Marcel on the other hand is playing prime time in the first back pairing together with All-Star AirRig GoodBrandSun, being the defensive conscience of the first line, as a stay-at-home defender. The younger Janser leads the team in shots blocked and is one of two players not showing a negative +/- rating (the other one being his sibling). This confirms that he is a reliable defender, who is not afraid to sacrifice his body to help out his netminder. Which leads us to Oskar Lindbergh. The Swedish goaler shows so far a streaky performance. Having said that, goalers also need some adjustment time when they change teams, and this newspaper is convinced that we have not seen the best of the Wranglers' new man between the pipes yet. Rookies Braun and Laroche-Gagnier have as of writing this article no points to their name, but they are on a promising trajectory and show dedication on and off the ice. It is only a matter of time when they get their monkey off the shoulder and will contribute on the offensive side of the game as well. Strasmore has found some scoring prowess and fueled be the moral boost of being a World Champion, co-leads the team in assists dished. It looks as he will easily surpass his personal point record by the end of the season. Wolanin and Gonçalves are skating in the starting formation and both show four goals for their efforts. The Portuguese Wonderkid is to everybody's surprise the leader in issuing checks, a role which is more expected of Strasmore or D. Janser. GM Kris Rice has indicated that some line adjustments will be made due to the underwhelming performance of the Albertan team which has not matched its ambitions as of now. Please find below the Jansers' stats of the regular season until now: Marcel: 8gp, 0g, 4a, 4pts, +0, 8 PIM, 12 hits, 17sb Daniel: 8gp, 7g, 4a, 11pts, +0, 6 PIM, 20 hits, 7sb, 1gwg, 61.56FO%, 1 First Star nomination We will keep our readers updated on the progress of our hockey exports. https://vhlforum.com/topic/131956-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-call-to-istanbul/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/132298-on-time-s86-calgary-wrangler-awards/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/132368-vsn-presents-s86-vhl-awards/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/132563-s87-calgary-wrangler-captains/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/132607-a-tale-of-two-brothers-champions-of-the-world/
  12. And we have a winner in @Gaming Ringleader, looking forward to work with you.
  13. gotcha thanks for the background. Yeah seems it was very unfortunate timing for this particular player.
  14. I did not mean point fingers at anyone (even though re-reading my post certainly can give this impression).
  15. Same here, plus it gives your player some flesh on the frame, i.e. people get to low key believe that there is a human being (even though we all know it is about an imaginary player in an imaginary hockey league which produces random stats).
  16. So are we ignoring the fact then that this player has spent one or more seasons in one or more VHLM teams and has apparently not been shown the ropes either, by GMs whose declared job it is to do exactly that? While it is true that the E GM could have been more proactive, I can see why it was not picked up. I mean as a college professor you would expect your students to know that 1+1 = 2 and not having to start from scratch again.
  17. Happy belated B'day to OD and BOOM.
  18. along the lines of: if everyone is special no-one is?
  19. Graphic courtesy of Leandrofg (Marcel's stats/Daniel's stats) We asked our Danish correspondent Peder Carlsen to get in touch with Daniel during the Icehockey World Cup in Aalborg, where the Swiss Center was representing Western Europe. Please find our uncut interviews for your reading pleasure. Kindly note that the first interview was recorded before the tournament and the second one after the tournament ended. Peder Carlsen (PC): 'Daniel, you just come from the VHL Award Gala and now you are dressing for the Team Western Europe. Is this not a little too much for you?' Daniel Janser (DJ): 'Hej Peder. No, I still feel fresh after an unfortunately short cut post-season. And you know the saying 'No rest for the wicked'. I just love hockey and cannot get enough of it. Besides, Zef Gonçalves asked me whether I would mind to play for Western Europe. As you may know, Zef and my dad won Gold in the WJC as the manager team for Europe. I thought if anyone can bring Gold back to Western Europe after 40 season looking from the outside in, it is Gonçalves.' PC: 'Pundits from the VSN stipulated that Team USA has the best claim on the title this year. What do you think about this?' DJ: 'I mean all teams are stacked, it is like the Who's Who of Hockey has assembled to battle it out. With so much quality around, details will decide matches. It will depend on how teams gel from the start as there is not much leeway to adapt to each other. I think that we have a competitive team. Cole was FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY in any goal-related category which was not based on pure statistics and is certainly one of the best netminders in the VHL at this moment in time. In Utonium we have a solid back up as well. DeGroot, Strasmore, Maellard and Nano patrol our blue line and our offense with Nico Pearce (who just barely but successfully escaped a Continental Cup), Ronan Lavelle, Leandro, Laperriere, Stolzschweiger awarded Jameson and me is more than adequate. Fun fact: Strasmore's grampa won the World Cup for Europe back in S46. Phil is so hyped for the chance to repeat his beloved grandfathers success.' PC: 'Sounds like you have a lot of fun in the locker room.' DJ: 'We are big children, being handsomely paid to play the sport we love. Of course we are excited. But make no mistake: everyone is eager to go home with Gold around their neck. So it is a good vibe in the locker room, but at the same time everyone is focussed on the common goal, which is naturally the cup.' PC: 'Okay thanks for your insight and good luck.' DJ: 'Thanks Peder, talk to you later.' During the World Cup the Calgary Captain racked up the following numbers during the Round Robin: 10gp, 7g, 6a, 13pts, +0, 12 PIM, 29 hits, 7sb, 3gwg, 2ppg, 57.41FO% and 2 first star nods In the playoffs the Rotkreuz native logged the following stats: 2gp, 2g, 2a, 4pts, +4, 2 PIM, 7 hits, 0 sb, 0gwg, 0ppg, 59.34FO% Team Western Europe would dominate the Round Robin and go directly to the semi-finals against Canada. In this game he would meet AG to decide which team will go to the final. Daniel showed a dominant performance with 2 goals and 2 assists and put Team Canada in its place with a 5-3 win. The final was against Team Nordic, lead by All-Star Defenceman, Beketov, Valiq and Labatte-Awardee Bo Johansson. This is the clash of the Titans of our time: on one side Swedish elegance and precision on the other side Swiss primal strength and stubborness. It is noteworthy that the two Star players pretty much neutralized each other and left the center stage to their team mates, chief amongst them Cole Pearce and Gonçalves who was involved in both goals in the 2-0 win. PC: 'Daniel, Team Western Europe just conquered Gold. What are your thoughts right now?' DJ: 'I am so proud of the team and our common achievement. Western Europe longed for this cup for so long and I am honoured and humbled to be part of the group to win it for our supporters.' PC: 'The season starts soon again. Will you conserve some of this energy and release it in the league?' DJ: 'It would be nice if it was that easy. For sure with three Wranglers conquering the throne, I hope that this gives the whole team a confidence boost to win clutch games.' PC: 'What is next on the agenda for you?' DJ: 'Well, my dad will drive the lads and me to Glasgow with the 'Chancer' to meet up with Bonnie's family and have our wedding on board his ship. We would have liked to go on a cruise for our honeymoon, unfortunately this is not possible as the league will probably not grind to a halt just because our nuptials took place. But we will go on a cruise in the next off-season when there is no WC scheduled.' PC: 'Thanks Daniel and congratulations and all the best for your union.' DJ: 'Thanks, mate.' https://vhlforum.com/topic/131798-21st-annual-unofficial-vhl-regular-season-awards-–-s86/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/131718-western-europes-s86-world-cup-announcement/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/131833-a-tale-of-two-brothers-outlook-on-s86-off-season/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/131956-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-call-to-istanbul/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/132298-on-time-s86-calgary-wrangler-awards/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/132368-vsn-presents-s86-vhl-awards/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/132563-s87-calgary-wrangler-captains/
