Name: Brandt Fuhr Position: Goaltender Height: 6’4 Weight: 219 lbs Handedness: Right Nationality: Pros Reaction Time Being that Brandt Fuhr is quite literally an alien from another galaxy (see here) he has incredible reaction time as per an Earthling's standard. In a situation sort of like the fake and ridiculous character, Superman, Fuhr has been granted otherworldly gifts by merely existing on this planet. The question remains as to how much he will take advantage of this during his career in the VHL. Rebound Falling in line with him miraculous abilities is his gift of rebounding pucks like a true boss. Other goalies and players in the VHL alike will eventually marvel at the skill and technique in which Fuhr will redirect pucks from him and the net. Some might be caught saying aloud, "It's like he's an alien warrior from another planet." But they won't believe it... not really. Hand Speed Slight of hand even on his own world, Fuhr brings immense hand speed to the table when it comes to the gift of goaltending. Having used his hand speed to steal the Stone of Enchantment it will be of little issue for Fuhr to do the same on Earth, stealing pucks one by one as they fly through the air toward him. Watch out, because he's so fast you're likely to miss it. Cons Penalty Shot To this day Fuhr doesn't quite understand why penalty shots happen and because of his reluctance to learn this side of the game he has become lazy and doesn't care when it happens. So what if thousands of people are watching? So what if the game can be on the line? Penalty shot, shmenalty shot-- that's what he has to say about it. I guess there might come a time when he has to take it serious but he may have fled Earth by then, so whatevs. Leadership The last thing that Fuhr wants is for people to rely on him or pay him any attention to him throughout this process. As far as he is concerned he just needs to keep moving and keep a somewhat low profile. Also, let's just admit that these Earthlings are a bunch of weirdos who really smell strange and eat odd food. Draft Projection It is very likely that because of Fuhr's incredible good looks that he is likely to be wanted by all teams, even if they don't want a goalie. That being said he will only go to the team that talks a little sweet and sour to him at times. It's the best kind of sauce, especially when it's spoken. I have a very important question pt. they're back
Rōnin replied to samx's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
A horse because they’re magical AF. You can form a deep bond with them, and you can use them as transportation. Type of horse doesn’t much matter other than preferably friendly from the start. I tend to get male pets (for no other reason than that’s what’s tended to find me) so I would name him Valentine, because it sounds cool and he’d be a natural charmer - let’s be real. -
"Avalon" Planet Zulu's Capital City Location: The Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy The Stone of Enchantment had been laid to rest in the highest chamber of the most recognized structure in Avalon, the Tower of Champions. The Tower, also known as the heavily guarded palace of the, "Great Warrior," Bekn Damari, was first constructed over six thousand years ago with the sole purpose of housing the Stone. After all, it was Damari herself who had first captured the Stone and had used its incredible power to give her the strength needed to rule over an entire civilization, and because of it's immense power the Stone had been kept under heavy guard ever since. Being that one of the many gifts that the Stone gave to its possessor was immortality, legend had been passed down to Zulu children to this day that Damari remained alive in the Tower, waiting for the next champion to come and claim the Stone. It is here where our story begins, on the outskirts of the Tower, and in the shadows -- because it is from the darkness in which the next champion would emerge. The moment the Champion stepped into the light his physical features became clear- He was of average size and build for a grown man of Zulu and dressed in such rags you'd often find a vagabond wearing in the streets, and while hardly anything was remarkable about his appearance- it was what he hid inside that would matter in this evening's venture. "The Champion" Like most who grew up in the slums of Avalon he felt a sense of entitlement to the Stone, and like all young men he had dreamt that he was, "The One." The mysterious figure written about in the prophecy who would rise up from the depths of Avalon to claim his rightful place at the top of the Tower and remove Damari from her position in the only way a Zulu citizen knew how to do-- Combat. But the rules of war on this planet were not the same as they were on Earth and claiming victory in battle did not always have to come from hand to hand combat. In Zulu you could fight using whatever strength you were gifted from birth, and for this Champion it would be his speed and stealth. The Champion knew that penetrating the walls of the Tower would be near impossible and that if he were to have any success in his mission, it would have to be done from the outside, and so it was that the Champion produced a grappling hook from the inside sleeve of his ragged clothing and raised it high in the air- pointing its tip at the highest visible balcony he could see. The Champion pulled back on the trigger, firing the grappling hook at its target and watched as it hurled through the sky toward its destination. He kept his eyes fixed on the hook, not bothering to scan for anyone who may have been alerted by the sound of the grappling hook being launched, for if he had been discovered he had little time to act before he would be captured. The moment the grappling hook snagged its target the Champion resisted the urge to smile, and instead relaxed his body as the forces of the hook pulled him up off the ground and toward the visible balcony. "The Tower of Champions" Once inside the Tower, our hero stayed low and used his skill of stealth to blend in with the shadows and his vision to seek immediate shelter. He could hear the voices of guards echoing in all directions, but our hero paid no mind to their distraction and instead focused on the only destination he had in mind -- Up. The Stone of Enchantment was said to be kept in the chamber at the top of the Tower, and from here on out his preparation and skill would now be tested to their very limits. Like most people from the planet Zulu, our hero did possess a modicum degree of magic but so limited was his knowledge and use of the ancient power that he had only been able to hone a handful of spells, most of which he intended to use tonight. The Champion raised his hands, holding them in the designated position for his first incantation, "Sollemico," he whispered as a flash of light appeared between his palms and dissipated almost as fast as it had appeared and this time our hero did smile as he watched his hands and arms blend with the background of his surroundings, giving him a chameleon like effect in camouflage. Ready to move, he took his time in making each step as to not create any noise as he slithered his way the arching steps that ran from the bottom of the Tower to the very top. Trying not to get ahead of himself our hero ignored the feeling of ease as he slipped by the positioned guards one by one, and tried to pay attention to the fact that this had been far too easy -- "The Stone of Enchantment" The moment our hero reached the top of the Tower and his eyes fell upon the Stone of Enchantment; he was mesmerized. Never in his wildest imagination did he foresee something so beautiful as the Stone and after becoming struck by its beauty he nearly froze in his place. Making a critical mistake he found himself lost in the light of the Stone as it hovered and swirled in the air and before he could realize what he was doing his hand began to reach out to claim the Stone from its resting place. "It's truly a sight to behold," the voice spoke from his right side, soft yet firm, strong yet silent, and immediately the power of its tone itself shook our hero from his temporary lapse of reality, "But it is forbidden for any person of Zulu to touch it," the voice said as it drew closer, "Anyone but my touch, that is." Our hero forced his head to turn in the direction of the oncoming voice, only to find himself almost face to face with the greatest warrior in the history of Zulu, Bekn Damari. In appearance she was nearly as mesmerizing as the Stone, and while legend stated she was thousands of years old you would never have guessed it. If there could be such a description as to what a perfect person might look like, our hero thought she fit the bill, and our hero also instantly understood that only the Great Lord itself had carved her by hand. "Who dares to enter my chamber? Who dares to call themselves a Champion!" "Bekn Damari" "I am a man of no name," our hero declared as he fought to stand strong and still, "I am the One." Damari laughed at the declaration and with one fell swoop struck our hero cleanly across his face, sending him backward across the room and into the chamber wall behind him. Struggling for breath our hero gasped as he tried to breath and found himself almost completely defeated as he tried to get to his feet, "You call yourself a Champion! A man so weak that only one strike from my hand should cast him down, a Champion!? I think not. Now go you fool, go while I still have mercy to allow you to live." "You would think I came here to fight you, Damari," our hero said as he barely had the strength to stand, "But it is not strength I possess-" As quick as he could he formed the incantation with his hands and as he was about to speak the words of his next spell Damari countered. "Gariatande!" She called out as she too formed her own incantation which sent a ball of fire hurling towards our hero, and just before it reached our hero he ripped a bag that had been sewn to the inside of his ragged shirt- tearing it open as he did so. What appeared as sand consumed the ball of fire, causing it to explode outward and as it did it flung the sand like material in all directions. Shielding his eyes from the material our hero avoided the temporary blindness he had now inflicted upon Damari. She screamed in anger and as her eyes cleared and her vision returned both our hero, and the Stone were gone. "The Renaissance" Personal Spaceship Now aboard his spaceship, the Renaissance, our hero found himself in dire need of medical attention. He had no choice but to flee from his opponent and using the Stone to teleport back to his ship was the only way he could escape. However, now that he had finally returned, he realized that he had suffered burns to his body and would need to admit himself to the medical treatment machine that all Zulu sanctioned spaceships provided. Fading in and out of consciousness our hero knew that he had only moments left to set a course destination for the Renaissance before he passed out and although his vision was blurry, he was able to punch in a destination similar in atmosphere and environment to the planet Zulu. One that could hide him while he healed and regained the strength needed to claim power over the planet of Zulu. "Computer," he spoke in almost a whisper. Yes. "Access database for oncoming destination." Accessed. "Construct a disguise for me, representative of a male inhabitant of the planet. Something that will allow me to travel from one location to another without suspicion." Processing. Need more description. "Something..." he began to fade further, "... cultural." Processing. Need more description. "Something..." he fell forward, collapsing on the console, "... involving warriors." Processing complete. Enter medical chamber. He forced himself to stand and with his remaining strength he pushed his body inside the medically inducing machine, locking the door behind him. He rested his body against the cushioned interior and just before he lost consciousness, he saw an image of the disguise he was about to take. It was of a man like creature dressed in very odd-looking armor, and below the image of the man was a name the Computer suggested he take: "BRANDT FUHR"

New Logo Concept for Mississauga Hounds

Review: I can almost hear Fong in my mind as I write this but well done on the presentation of this media. Starting it off with a picture brings us right into the story as we can visualize your player. The alternating colors of text allow for an easy read and your formatting is on point. I think I might of made the font size a bit bigger as for some reason it looks smaller than normal to me, but it is Monday morning after all. Well done on creating a good story based media that helps the reader stay on point. 9/10

New Logo Concept for Mississauga Hounds
Rōnin replied to Mongoose87's topic in Archived Graphics/Videos
Review: This is a great idea because it draws people into the post and it still gives them quite the reward from the fun image. I like the concept, and I think you did a great job of implanting Yogi Bear into the picture. I suppose the only thing you could have done a bit different would have been to choose a dog character instead of a bear but it's still fun nonetheless. Nice work 7/10 -
- Well, I am currently in the midst of a pretty significant flare up in my back, so I spent most of my weekend laid up and unable to do anything. It’s amazing how much we take our body for granted as times especially when we find ourselves in a scenario like I am currently facing. This is sort of why I am running to the site this morning trying to get my PT’s done because I know that by the end of my workday, I won’t want to do it. - Things are moving pretty steady when it comes to my new player Fuhr, and now that the playoffs are over it’s a matter of looking forward to the Junior Showcase Tournament. I am interested in seeing how the Brigade does and I can only hope that I play a significant role in our possible pending victories. I don’t have the draft at the forefront of my mind yet, but I can see the distant light of it on my horizon. It’s going to be an interesting couple of weeks to say the least. (183 words)

1. Who do you think will win this year's JST and why is it the Brigade? Cleary it will be the Brigade due to the well rounded choices management has made as well as the strategic tactics in which we will be utilized in. 2. What are your build plans for your player? Focus on the strengths while maintaining a nice level of supplemental attributes. Right now it's just a matter of earning at a high rate so I can stay ahead of the curve. 3. What do you expect from the JST? A fun tournament that will give us a sneak peak of what is to come with our player. 4. Do you have a team you wish to be drafted for, if yes why this team? I do not have a preferred destination and I am open to going wherever I am selected. 5. Similar to above, do you have a team you have absolutely no wish to play for? No team is off my list. 6. Is there anything Banackock and I could do to make your VHL experience even better? You do a lot as it is and I appreciate your efforts thus far, keep up the great work!

I usually get TJ Miller or Ryan Reynolds, lol. A girl I used to hang out with called me DRR (“Discount Ryan Reynolds”).

The title of the show is still, "No Fuhr," but I'm thinking I'll try and work a new Fuhr title in for each post I make. Anyway, it's a waste of time to listen to me so don't even bother! Don't. I'm serious. Just back out of the post before it's too late. Are you sure? Double sure? Alright then --- **extends hand** --- Shall we?

- Hello and welcome to the year 2022. Hard to believe sometimes that we are where we are, but life continues to trudge along and I with it. I think I might be feeling like most of you who went back to work this week, but a holiday break is never too long in my opinion. But you know what is always too long? A VHL offseason. (cue the joke drum beat) - In recent news I was selected first overall by the Brigade in the upcoming Junior Showcase Tournament! Sounds like a lot of fun and my fortunes continue when it comes to being selected first overall in a VHL draft. If there is one thing I do expect with my new player, Brandt Fuhr, it is to not be selected first overall in the S83 VHL Draft. I know in the past few seasons we’ve seen two first overall goalies selected in Papa and Booberry, but I think it would be foolish for me to believe it would be the same for me. I don’t even know what teams need a goalie, and that didn’t matter to me when I created. My earn rate is high enough to warrant a pick… but how high of a pick remains to be seen. (212 words)

Review: This is some solid media and a great example for newcomers on how to create a media spot with the word limit and make it presentable and easy to read. I think the added logos, paragraph spacing, and bold/underline text are all hallmarks of quality editing that allow the reader to follow the media more clearly. I think the only thing that MIGHT be missing would be an additional photo, let's say of the city or in game action, but that is nitpicking. Great work as always DAAD. 9.5/10

Review: The first thing that jumps out at me are the player renders, I like the effect you added that created richer colors to their skin tones and shadows. I think you did a solid job of swapping those jersey logos and making them in the Reapers colors. On a side note it's an interesting thing to see a goalie with the number 18, makes me think of Koskinen with number 19. I think the font placement banners are nice but there is something about them that is lacking, they don't have the same pop as the players do. The same can be said for the background, because it's black and white it looks very flat as a backdrop for the renders, and perhaps if there was more of a lighting effect it would create better separation. Nice work! 7/10

1. How was the holiday break? 2. What are your thoughts on the raffle results? 3. What is your opinion on the recent bans for multi-accounts? 4. Where do you see yourself going in the draft? 5. Do you have any New Year resolutions? 6. What were some of the highlight moments for you in the past year?

Add me to the ping list please @youloser1337 thank you

- Well here it is the start of a new year and I just can't help but think of the past. So much has happened over the past couple of months it would take a couple of media articles to explain it all (which I intend to speak on many topics in my next podcast). So why don't we start with the positives? I am enjoying my new player, Brandt Fuhr, and I've gotten far more starts in Halifax than I had anticipated when I signed (I did not expect a single one, lol). Nice team they have there in terms of members and leadership and I am happy to be a part of it for the remainder of the season. - I do wonder what will happen when it comes to draft day in all of the VHLM, VHLE, and the VHL. I've never been a goalie before so I am not sure if I'll be expected to stay down in the VHLM after one season or move over to the VHLE. I know that I'll wait to see what comes my way and be open to whatever management suggests is best. I have no expectations for draft position as goalie is a different kind of need and not always a necessity. All I know is that this is a new year with new experiences that lie ahead. (227 words)

Review: Story based media is always great to read because it allows us to immerse ourselves in the characters within the league. I think you did a great job of telling a story and identifying clearly who the characters were. I was thinking about how at the start you could have had the first sentence still been in character -- so instead of starting with, "This story is told from the perspective of..." -- you could have instead just began as though you're speaking from the mind of Armani instead like, "It was my ninth birthday and I remember the day was chilly but the sun was bright... etc etc" Anyway it's a job well done and I'm looking forward to seeing how your player develops. 7/10

Em Em Flex - The Goalie of The Present and The Future
Rōnin replied to SlapshotLegion's topic in Archived Graphics/Videos
Review: I have to start off by saying I love the choices of renders and how you placed them, the framing is just perfect. The jersey swap is seamless, like damn. Everything is where it should be, including the logo, and can we just talk about the font for a moment?!? PERFECT choice, PERFECT size, and PERFECT execution. I love it. 10/10 -
Wow!! Thank you so much!!

1. I’m at a point in life where I have all that I need and want, so what I asked for was PlayStation $$ and I used it to pick up Hitman 3, ooooh yeeeah!! 2. I wouldn’t put too much money down on a bet but never say never, that’s a Bond movie, right? 3. Through a Reddit post, and I haven’t looked back since. 4. Has to be Brandt Fuhr, waiver pickup and already pushing to be the permanent backup. Excelling through the ranks at warp speed! 5. Oh man, in terms of food it’s potato chips without a doubt! Good lord I can put back a large bag without hardly blinking. 6. Here’s the thing, it’s a yay but with a caveat. I can only handle a small glass and for some reason they never sell egg nog in small containers. It’s always like a 2 litre box so I never buy it because I know I’m putting the glass down half full.
