Yeah, same. Honestly Miami massively underpromised in my pitch I think. Think it was like top 4 and special teams. Ended up being 32 minutes a game. But unless you know how to look at the index (which I didn't know existed until around week 2) you can't really tell for sure. Even then you'd probably need to cross reference with the portal etc. Just a lot more than you can feasibly expect. Think I was too excited to get started to even wait for all teams to answer.

It feels like the M is very much on the fence. We mostly agree it should be a developmental league, yet it uses a competitive rule set. Stuff like trades, the current waiver structure and drafting are neat for competitiveness. It's however basically guaranteed to not spread prospects in a way that optimizes the new player experience. For instance both "pure" 4th line players on Ottawa are better than Miami's 1st line RW. Does it make sense that their reward for earning and building well is to sit on the 4th line and work on their cheerleading? Not really. But how were they supposed to make an informed decision about that on day 1?

This really is the most tragic turn of events. I hope Juan gets that C he so desperately wants next season. That has to come with some kind of bonus, right?

At least we fulfill the very important role of making Halifax feel slightly better about themselves. Also based on the experiences in the Miami LR it would seem like the main solution for a better 1st gen experience is to have more Aussies in the LR. So that seems like a totally reasonable fix! Really though isn't the biggest issue with the competitiveness of teams stemming more from mid round picks than 1st rounders? That 1st is going to be a insta-capped 1 season wonder recreate right? Which is strong, yes. But that's not what's making a team like Ottawa curb stomp the rest of league on repeat. It's that they absolutely loaded up on welfare+ players that all end up being competitive players for a long time and then culminating in a full capped team (more or less) this season. I doubt any of those were 1st round picks, right?

Did you make the projection before or after a solid chunk of the top prospects in the M had freak retirements? Were the numbers off enough that it doesn't have any appreciable impact? Just curios. Because based on recent events, it does seem like maybe the last couple draft classes weren't quite as big as they may have seemed.

1) It's very unfortunate. In a lot of the cases it truly does seem to be a lack of understanding of the rules. Or not having seen the rule at all. I think having a league rule in the COC is asking to have it missed. Because usually people who aren't a-holes won't read the COC, since usually all it says is "don't be an a-hole" which they have covered. So when there is a league rule (no multis) in the conduct rules. It's not surprising that people miss it. But honestly, my biggest issue with it is how much it screwed over certain GMs. Losing your starter after TDL when you did nothing wrong? That's rough! Losing your entire 2nd round because both picks were multis? That's REALLY rough! But hopefully this crackdown will lead to more rule clarification, maybe it going in the league rules section too. And hopefully people just stopping the multi shenanigans. 2) Yeah, sure we've had a lot of kinda messed up stuff happen lately. But I don't see how there is any feasible way that could have been preempted. Do I completely agree with all their chosen punishments? No. But then no matter what they pick that will always be the case for a significant portion of the user base. So it's a lose/lose for them. Even if they do what is objectively perfect, someone will thing it's subjectively stupid. But I think they are doing good overall. This is by far the most open and welcoming community I've joined. I normally only lurk forums, even my most active forum to date I had like 150 posts in 2+ years. Here I just can't stop interacting with the community, because there are so many awesome people in it (too bad a fair few of them was just the same person over and over though). 3) We give to respective charities for Christmas these days, so not really. As expected when reading your MS' it was a great piece. The only thing missing was a shoutout to the legendary TOR G. But I guess Doomsday already covered that? Really enjoy your writing style, you use a lot more imagery than most which helps really engage the reader. The formatting was on point, with the only slight hiccup possibly being the paragraph about building from within. It felt a bit too much like you effective repeated the same point twice, I found myself thinking I had goofed and re-read the same line two times. Which I had not. When I read it again I don't find it as apparent, but when the article is this good you kind of have to grasp at straws to find fault. So I did. It does. A quick rebuild from within, where young talent gets a chance to shine is very tantalizing as a 1st gen looking to make their mark sooner rather than later. Toronto is certainly one of the teams that looks like a very good place to land in the S82 draft. Won't give a rating as honestly it's good enough that I'd be shuffling decimals in the 9s to give one. And at that point does it even matter? It's just really good.

I don't think I've ever seen the number 69 repeat that many times in a serious article before. So that alone is impressive, but also a nice write up.

Clue Glue™, as awesome as it is. Does not appear to have that effect when applied to Hockey players. It would in fact appear that in 1/3 cases, Clue Glue™ usage will actually clone you roughly 6 times! Step-Hasbro Gaming are currently working on a way to use this new and unexpected side-effect in a competitive, but CoC compliant, manner.
