3. The Tavares injury in the playoffs last year scared me quite a bit but in person i was watching a Bantam game and a kid went head first into the boards from a cross check from behind. was not pretty.
4. Always do specific stretches before games.
5. A plan. I dont care if the team goes 82-0 or 0-82 as long as they have a plan on what they want to do now and in the future.
6. Blast music and play games and work out.

Saskatoon Wild: Player Radar
 
Saskatoon: As over half of the VHLM regular has come to a fast finish, the Saskatoon Wild have seen some great growth out of their own players. Although 4th place in their conference only ahead of the rebuilding Mexico City Kings, there have been some astonishing accomplishments coming out of Saskatoon.

The likes of Bob Vladovechsenkchushkin (@Grape) and Weenuk Warrior (@KnightRiley) have been carrying the offence with their experience and expertise. Although they’ve had a slow start padding up the stat board, they’ve been a significant help in shaping the younger generation of rookies in Saskatoon.

There have been quite a lot of rookies signing with Saskatoon, most notably on the offensive side of the puck. Over 8 out of the 10 forwards in Saskatoon are rookies, playing their first year in the VHLM. There have been some standout rookies in the Saskatoon system that both VHLE and VHL teams should look out for…

Tyler Thode (@Thode) is a key player and is a significant asset to Saskatoon. But for some reason, he has flown under the radar from both the media and fans. He’s a great playmaker that can make something out of practically nothing. On top of that, his growth has been outstanding compared to other rookies and he’ll only get better as time passes. We’re excited to see what the young rookie has in store for the near future.

Jack Quill (@GoldGear88) has been a topic of discussion recently, the center has racked up the assists as of late and is a great compliment to the passing game we have in Saskatoon. He’s making some steady gains as the week's pass, it’s an honour to have someone like Jack in our system.

Last but not least, we have Nick Letty (@Turnip67), who's earned respect in and around Saskatoon’s locker room. Letty, who is just sixteen years old, is a thorn in the side of many opponents. He’s known for having an incredible shot as well as being gifted with quick reflexes on the faceoff.

That’s it for the offence, but what about for the defence? All of Saskatoon’s goaltenders and defensemen are first-year rookies, which comes at a clear disadvantage on the ice. Although Saskatoon’s defence has vastly underperformed this season, there are a few bright spots to go along with its struggles.

Jeff Buffy (@Strider) is our defenseman in the spotlight, an amazing young defenseman that’s built like an absolute tank - listed as 6’5 and 235 pounds. Buffy is not afraid to throw his weight around, racking up 90 hits with 79 shots blocked. Another positive about Buffy is that he’s great at setting up his teammates for scoring opportunities, with numerous assists coming from none other than Jeff Buffy. Overall he’s a diamond in the rough, with more experience and time, who knows what Buffy can accomplish?
 
Jay Saucey (@ToooSaucey) is the reliable and handy backup goaltender to Dylan Dubnyk. Although his 3.09 GAA may seem like nothing to be impressed about, considering how diminished and weak Saskatoon’s defence has been. He’s done fairly well considering the circumstances, he’s a prime example of dealing with adversity.

Although there are a lot of bumps in the road for the Wild. It’s safe to say, they’re packing as much young talent you can ask for. We look forward to how these young stars progress through this season and throughout their whole career! Who knows? Maybe Saskatoon is growing a star in the making…
