  1. Lets GO! You need to get past Wheeler first tho.
  2. Another week into the season and there is plenty of happenings to chat about. First, its April Fools and I got GOT twice in 12 hours by the VHL. Great job! For this week I’d like to cover the current VHL standings, a look in at Saskatoon in the VHLM, and give a little “tough guy” tribute. VHL STANDINGS In the North American league the defending champs, DC Dragons are killing it. At 20-4 they have cruised out to first place with a tough Toronto club nipping at their heels. Led by The Frenchman @OrbitingDeath with 22g 26a= 48 pts and defenseman, Mark Calaway @Beketov 12g 26a= 38pt they are showing that they want to raise that Continental Cup again. They have great depth and are getting scoring and contributions from everyone on the roster. Added to this, they are nasty in net with Henry Tucker Jr @NSG who already has two shutouts. Prediction: Victory Cup In the EU, Moscow, Malmo, London, and Prague are all really close and I predict there will be many lead changes before the trade deadline. All these teams are crazy good but I want to look in on Prague today. Prague has scored the most goals in the league (100) but have allowed 78. If they are to compete for the cup I would think team defense would have to improve but their offense is impressive. Led by John Jameson @Frank 23-30-53pts (85 hits) and Nikolas Kauppi @Tetricide 25-27-52pts up front and all-star defenseman Skor McFleury @AlexAlex 9 -33-42pts in the back they have the tools to be competitive every night. They have some depth that can add points as well in Rip Wheeler, Spanish Moon, and Chris Sanzone and a great goalie in Matt Murdock. But if this team is to win the cup one of these depth pieces might have to go for some defensive help. If this team can bring down the goals against and maintain their offensive tempo, they will be a force come playoff time. SASKATOON In the VHLM there are some teams blowing away from the pack. Ottawa, Halifax, Vegas, and Houston are all single digits in losses. Saskatoon is just outside of these clubs and despite losing two in a row they have such a solid club I think they could go for it come playoff time. Offensivly they are led by Oliver Loo @Misty 18-16-34 pts and RW Leon Bruhmaninho @BigBruhman. But it’s their defense which is where Saskatoon really shines. Carson Tripp @Cartripp14, Bollos de Trueno @Thunder, and Lazlo Holmes @Gustav are all max or close to max and will definitely help play long minutes in crucial games. Sask is up there with goals scored (83) and are 2nd fewest in goals allowed in the league showing a team commitment to defense. In net, the team could use a few more weeks of TPE earning for both goalies. Both have winning records, but a few more allocated points could put them over the hump in games against elite talent. Best of luck Sask! Tough Guy Tribute This week’s tribute goes out to Prague’s center, John Jameson @Frank. As of this week he has 8 total fights in 25 games. The aging veteran is averaging over 2 points a game and is on a record pace for fighting majors in the modern era. Great job JJ.
  3. I’m reading Empire of the Damned by Jay Kristoff (book 2 of Empire of Vampire). Pretty good book , very dark and violent but that’s right up my alley. also reading The Sentry by Robert Crais - mystery thriller about a private investigator in LA. Fun series
  4. Chilling today with family. Daughter just had easter egg hunt. I am off work all week for daughter's spring break from school so plan on having some fun adventures.
  5. We have hit the 20-game mark, and the Vancouver Wolves continue to struggle a bit. It’s been a series of touch and go for the young re-building Wolves. Showing streaky glimpses of dominance followed by some dismal defensive lapses the team just can’t seem to find a rhythm. PROS Some of the pros for the club has been the addition of veteran talent in Larry Abass, Left Alone, and Sunglasses Joyo. Added with returning Vet, Liv Slater they round out the top 4 in scoring for the club and it’s no surprise. Rookies Vlad Von Carstein and Riley Martin have been great too but will need to keep the foot on the gas for the club to have a chance at a post season. IDENTITY While Vancouver struggles with consistency and defense, where they do shine is aggressiveness. They are a big, bruising club that hit EVERYTHING. Even their leading scorer Larry Abass Jr has 87 hits and 90 PIMs. This might be where they can eke out some wins by purely punishing opposing clubs. NEEDS The team desperately needs rookie Logan Ninefingers to find his groove and get on the score sheet. He has a few games of good play and he follows it up with some serious lapses on the defensive side. At a -7 he needs to focus on stopping opposing players and let the points come naturally. That simple adjustment and many believe he will become hot offensively. They will also need some depth help from centerman Mikko Borisyuk and defenseman Jens Lekman. In summary, this is a very deadly club that just needs to find their footing. The top players are scoring and playing well, they just need to get the rest of club firing and all will be well in Vancouver.
  6. I always knew you were soft! Gudas would be ashamed.
  7. Ninefingers is in concussion protocol At least that’s my excuse for the shit play.
  8. Oh hell yeah!! That is awesome @Girts
  9. The season has finally started and the VHL is back to normal. It’s a good time for many of us who are eager to get our players back into the mix of scoring/passing/hitting/and fighting on the score sheets. Regardless if your player is in the VHLM, VHLE, or finally in the VHL the start of a new season brings about a certain feeling of excitement. As fun as the off-season tournaments can be, there is no substitute for opening week of the regular season. The ONLY thing that made this season’s start less fun is not the fact my player is struggling, but my daughter has caught strep throat (AGAIN), so been taking care of her and trying not to catch it. WARSAW Looking around the league I noticed a few things. First, in the European division the Warsaw Predators are off to a hot start. 4-1 with 3 straight wins. What makes it more amazing is they have only allowed 10 goals in those five games. Amazing team defense so far and you have to give tremendous credit to All-star goalie Lachlan Summers @kirbithan stopping just about everything thrown at him thus far. It's good to see Warsaw having some early success after a few tough seasons. MOSCOW Since my time in the VHL it seems to me that Moscow almost always is seen at the top of the standings in the EU. They had a couple off season recently but have drafted and traded for a very talented club. It is no surprise that they are again at the top even though they have a young club. 5-1 so far and a league high 24 goals for and only allowed 13. The recent addition of Grimgor Ironhide @FrostBeard has proven wise as he is hitting, scoring, and fighting his way to a team lead in points and hits. Added with playmaking rookie George Richmond @badcolethetitan and speedy offensive defenseman, Leif Reingaard @Zetterberg and moster dman, Obuz SCdB @Grape the Menace are looking tough early. But I think what truly has separated them early is their goaltending. Olober Syko @Spartan has been dominant and his success really pisses me off now that I passed on him for my VHLFL team. .925 Save % , 2.11 GAA and already has a shutout. VHL FIGHT LEADER Fighting frequency in the VHL is one of the things I can’t wrap my head around. Some seasons you get a lot and some you don’t. This season Toronto center, Jimi Jaks @ke1vi has been TEARING IT UP with fights. In 6 games he already has 4 fights with 1 win. Historically not a heavily penalized player, JJ doesn’t have any points in grit nor fighting but has come out hot, not taking any shit from opposing teams. Already at 32 PIMS I am excited to see if he can keep this pace up before he must have hi hands replaced. Next up is Jim Benning Jr (LA) @Jim BenningJim and Oreo McFleury (SEA) @JB123 with 2 fights. Until next week
  10. The season has begun, and Vancouver’s young rookie Logan Ninefingers has struggled to say the least. In six games the powerful youngster has only tallied two goals and is a -5 as the young team tries to battle nightly. So what is the problem? We caught up with Logan and here is what he had to say. Reporter: “Hey Logan. It’s been a tough start to the season for you and the Vancouver Wolves thus far. What do you think is the problem.” Logan: “Well for me it’s just nerves, I think. I am playing against tougher talent and maybe I am gripping the stick just too tight right now. I need to be better defensively first and let the offense come. As for the team, I think its just a matter of playing with each other a bit and figuring out what works. Were a young team and nobody really has played together yet.” Reporter: “How do you think the rest of the season plays out for you? Its early and there is so much talent on this club, do you think you can turn it around in Vancouver?” Logan: “Well… I think there is so much talent on this club that we will for sure turn it around. Riley @Smarch, Guntis @Girts, and VVC @Dom are so damn good, added to the veteran talent on this club it will click, and we will be a menace for any team we play against. Reporter: “Thank you Logan and best of luck this season.” Logan: “Thank you. And a huge shoutout to the fans in Vancouver for being patient. We promise you better as we earn and learn to play together. We all want to hoist a Cup at some point here. Go Wolves!”
  11. 1. Yes. Miserably long. And not because I’m excited for new season, which I am. This has been the longest it’s felt ever. 2. the World Juniors was fun but we got killed. Earning TPE was only thing kept me going really. 3. I want to make Ninefingers into a reliable piece of the club. To not hurt the team defensively and put in pucks when I can and get some wins. 4. voted for Liv Slater, Joyo, and Abass I think. Veterans who have all been around 5. nah. Don’t believe in that nonsense. Wolves are immune 6. Hell yeah. He deserved them all and should repeat with at least Jake Wylde trophy.
  12. I was the same. If not for Covid and my wife I would have never thought Id use it. Been pretty convenient now though with a 6 year old daughter. She wants to work out with us so keeps me from procrastinating
  13. Ive been hitting it pretty hard for last few months which is easier in the winter since it's rainy and cold where I am mostly. We have a full gym in the garage that includes rower, skier, punching bag, assault bike, peloton treadmill, rack with weights, and dumbbells. Wife is a fitness nutter so even when I am lazy she drags my ass out there. Been lifting pretty steady, like 4-5 days a week, but cardio has taken a backseat. Need to balance both and would like to drop about 5lbs by summer.
  14. Review: First......WOW! That is an epic tribute to a generational talent in Molly the Cat. The article was great, explaining just how important the Cat was to the franchise with historical facts(ie Draft location, captaincy) and even how you came to franchise later on in the Cat's career and just how much of a tribute it was for you to retire this number. And what makes this even more amazing is the video tribute which I wish I knew how in the hell you did it!!! I am always drawn to the articles that provide tribute to a player that not only talks about their success but also what they meant to the locker room and players or the VHL as a whole. Amazing tribute. 10/10
  15. Home with a sick kid today so chilling. Plan to work out and then veg the rest of the day. Sun is out, a rarity in Washington State this time of year so plan to enjoy it a little
  16. While this off-season seems incredibly long there has been some things going on to keep me interested. Although, at least in the Vancouver locker room the team is hungry for the start of the upcoming season. We’ve had the WJC, Pro-Am, and drafts lately which have been fun but still it sometimes is hard to write media spots during off-season but I will do my best. VHLM Draft The VHLM draft started, and the Mississauga Hounds went with towering defenseman, Erik Thorvaldsson @Tetricide. Erik is big, nasty, and has skills so it should be fun to see what he can do on a re-tooling Hounds team. Other draft notables: #2- Pierre Marc Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito– Halifax- a solid and speedy center who in his quick time in Saskatoon showed he could score against VHLM talent and shoots the puck early and often. Solid pickup for the 21s. #3- Lazlo Holmes @Gustav - Saskatoon- A defenseman who can dangle and score he averaged over a point per game with Halifax in his quick stint there. Joins a powerful rookie defensive core in SSK that looks to shut down the league. #4-Jillian Woods @jacobcarson877-Ottawa- small and quick, this is well rounded defensive player that can do it all. Joins a talented Ottawa club that looks ready to challenge for a cup. #5-Oliver Loo @Misty- a first gen forward and Calgary prospect looking to make a mark in Saskatoon. A capped TPE member that should start the season hot. RIP WHEELER TRADED! Now for several seasons I have begged Calgary to trade my buddy and nemesis, Rip Wheeler @ScottyP for a used puck bag, a bus pass, or toilet paper. Something commensurate with his skill level. Now, my player finally made to the VHL and I was poised to be in the same division and heated rivalry with Calgary when he told me he was being traded. Part of me thinks he wanted to be traded to avoid Ninefingers but I know that isn’t true. Rip Wheeler and all-star defenseman Skor McFleury @AlexAlex were shipped to Prague where they join some really good players in John Jameson @Frank, Nikolas Kauppi @Tetricide, and goalie Matt Murdock @Acydburn. Overall, I think it was good for Rip. He was a very loyal teammate in Calgary and loved his time there but hopefully the new scenery in Europe will light a fire under him. Best of luck Rip S94 Draft Just looking at the pool of prospects in the VHLM I noticed that the S94 draft is very balanced and full of huge earners. I was surprised that in the top 20 of TPE currently there is only one goalie, Soju @Frank. There are some really talented defensive players in the top 10 as well like Jillian Woods @jacobcarson877, Felicia Hardy @JCarson, Lazlo Homes @Gustav , and Bollos de Trueno @Thunder so curious if the first overall pick will be a defensive player next year. Defensive players Yaboi Oven @Doomsday was #1 in S90 draft, Callum Gary Yannick Janser @Daniel Janser was #1 in S91, and Mark Calaway @Beketov was #1 in S88 showing its pretty wise to take a high earning defensive player first. At forward we have Maverick Goncalves @leandrofg who definitely knows how to make a player that scores, The Phantom of the VHL @Hogan, Pombo @samx, Maple Dogwood @dogwoodmaple, and Wally Lose @youloser1337. All could be a force at the first overall pick but only time will tell.
  17. Hey everyone. Happy St Paddy's day! Weather a bit better in Seattle today and stuck in hockey rink watching my 6 year old daughter's hockey practice. Hope everyone has a great weekend
