Being Draft Eligible - What I'm Facing - Justin Lose
BOOM replied to youloser1337's topic in Archived Media Spots
Good luck in the draft. -
Thanks @fromtheinside It's always great to see active new members that are enjoying the VHL. As for the article, I just want all the GM's to know what they'll be getting this time around ASAP. As for teammates, who knows. If so, I'll look forward to working with you!

I think everyone is boarding up their windows and loading spare mags...

If Biden wins, it's down to Fresco picking the Biden Burger. He's a genius.

Coming from a member perspective, rather than my player, it's good to be back in the VHL. I had been a sim leaguer for a long time(hi @Advantage and @.sniffuM ), before I found the VHL and once I joined, I knew it was going to be a long-term relationship. I believe that was S25 and my very first VHL player, Vladimir Boomchenko was born. He wasn't incredible, but he wasn't terrible either, so that was OK. I was pleased with player number one. However, anyone that knows me beyond the "BOOM" persona, is aware of the amount of pressure I can put myself under, with regards to player success and decisions like Free Agency or contract decisions. I'm not sure why, but trying to strike a balance between having a good career and putting my player in the best position to succeed and not upsetting my GM or teammates by "abandoning" them, has always proven a difficult one. That situation has arisen throughout my time here in the VHL and I've probably mishandled the situation with every single player I've had. I've never intentionally set out to anger or betray anyone, but there's been times when the situation has played out like that. Davos to New York is an example where the situation could, and should have been handled better from my end. I always took it too seriously, despite several members/friends here telling me not to. I wasn't in a great space for a considerable amount of my VHL time, and being here was pretty much every minute of time I had to spare. Regardless, Ive returned after a considerable absence with the intention of managing Odinsson in an entirely new way. No more desperation to beat the PT deadline for that 1 point to meet the cap for the week. No more trying to position my player to chase cups(with never really worked for me anyway), and no more caring that I'm top a top earner or leading a stat category or two. Sure I'll try and do PT's to reach cap if I can, but if I don't feel like it, tough shit. If I get drafted to a team, unless the atmosphere sucks and I hate it there, there will be no trade demands or LR/Discord sulking like a little bitch. It's meant to be fun, a place to hang out for a while, improve your fake hockey player. It's not an entryway to a marvelous career, or a top school or something else where you need to demonstrate your level of perfection. Well, not for me anyway. Not this time. Odinsson will be serviceable, that's all. No HOF potential, no first, second or even maybe third round pick. Pick players on need or potential, not past interaction or glory. Newer members are the lifeblood of the VHL and if they are active and earn well, that's great, and all the best to them for their time in the VHL. They well and truly deserve to be selected before someone like me. In short, here I am back in the VHL but considerably different to the past activity and commitment levels of my previous stint. I'm enjoying it, seeing many members I had an association with previously, as well as newer ones who have added another layer of VHL enjoyment. Here's to the VHL...

I know that's the only reason I have maintained some sense of civility.

Nevada gets to decide? Good lord.

Fair enough. Like I said, I'm just following Politico. Blame them for my possible disinformation.

Yes, Arizona is blue.

I don't know how trusted it is, but I've been following Politico for results and scenarios.

Good job Michigan.

To everyone that has taken the time to think about and write detailed, considered and informative replies... THANK YOU.

A President who can't spell "polls". Congrats America.

Open invitation to all my US based colleagues. If you start rowing here now, you may just be in time for our border to reopen. Tell them you know me.

Oh. Is there an election happening? What's it for?

I'd listen to that!

Name : Gunnar Odinsson Age : 20 Position : Defenceman Nationality : Norwegian Height : 6'4 Weight : 205 The VHLM has a new entrant to the player pool today, after the nephew of mediocre former VHL player Vaydar Odinsson declared his intention to enter the Victory Hockey League. Twenty year old Gunnar Odinsson formally signed with the talent department yesterday and will look to develop his skills with one of the VHLM teams after the upcoming draft takes place. He is from the same Agency as former players, Vladimir Boomchenko and Bismarck Koenig, who while not setting the league on fire, had solid careers that saw them contribute to their respective teams. Growing up in big city Oslo, Gunnar played hockey every chance he got, both with friends and at Foss Upper Secondary School. Originally, a Right Wing, he made the switch to defence at the suggestion of the schools coaching staff, who saw his size developing and thought him a better fit at the back. Some early scouting has already emerged on Odinsson, but it is based on very little factual evidence and more on snatches of game video and ancedotal comments. Still, we will publish it here anyway and then assume no responsibility for it's factual correctness or accuracy. Gunnar probably lacks the same level of offence as Hulk Hogan Jr and the strong defensive game of Battre Sandstrom, but he may be better than both when it comes to processing the game. "He makes the essential plays at every turn," said VHL.coms's Kevin Rudd. "He shows excellence at his position under challenging of circumstances, and his calmness and assuredness are the stuff of VHL-Caliber defencemen". VHL.com's other scout, Mal Turnbull, sees Odinsson eventually offering first pairing upside, and a set of great physical tools. "His shot is OK and I think he's naturally aggressive as a puck rusher. He won't break any league records, but he could be a decent point producer at the next level". Finally, we'll leave the last word to former VHL great and HOF entrant, Daniel Braxton who now scouts from his home base of Moncton. "Pew,pew, pew. After taking a look at the small amount of footage from Norway, I see Odinsson as a rangy, athletic blueliner who is quite mobile and makes great decisions in puck movement. He can skate the puck out of danger from his own end and make clean breakout passes like someone that knows what he's doing. He's not without his defensive issues though. He’s a bit of a risk taker as the last man back , but has some problems with wide speed as he sometimes forgets to keep his feet moving against the rush. Overall, I think with good coaching and practice time, he'll be a fine choice at the VHLM level". Coming from a family with good hockey lineage should see Gunnar develop into an above average player, although given the family's recent track record in VHL participation, his impact remains to be seen. Some GM's may shy away from putting too much faith into the young Norwegian defenceman, and honestly, few could blame them for their wariness.

So, 2021? It's a date.
