  1. I'll say this coming from my perspective, I don't really have any problems with the VHLM Waiver System. Now I'm going to put a little bit of a disclaimer here, but almost every season I have been on the low end of waivers. But that really isn't due to the fact that my "brand" is Mexico City, or that I don't really have a "good pitch." It's because of the fact that I'm able to draft active players and keep them around. I've consistently finished top 4 every single season since I've joined and I have yet to have a single season under 40 wins. I don't get waivers because my team is basically full every season recently, which I think is a good sign that I'm keeping players around and doing a good job of drafting. Should the waiver system change? Maybe. I'd be down to listen to changes that people think should be implemented, but I believe that getting "waivers" aren't really necessary if you draft well and have built a good team from the beginning. The whole point is to teach new players and retain them, right? If you're able to retain your draft picks, you don't need waiver players and instead they can go to other teams to help them out. Also, I'm not trying to take a dig at any GMs in this league. A lot of them are fantastic and do an amazing job overall. Another thing that people say the M is a developmental league, I believe truly it is. However, you can also be a competitive team each season if you play your cards right. You have to be creative with the new rules and draft smart to be able to keep that "contending" status, while also helping newer players. It also helps when you're a good team, retention seems to be a little bit easier because you're at the top. What's my best advice to GMs? Reach out to your players each week. Even if it's just a "Hey, how's it going?" or something simple. Take that extra step. Engage in the locker room. Get your team hyped. Do everything you can to keep players around even if they're just doing practice facility + welfare each week. Make them feel unique and like they belong in your organization. Hope this gave some insight into GMing from my eyes, I'm also hyper active and always on discord due to my ADHD and I cannot expect every GM to be the same. I remember a couple weeks ago when a first gen joined and I had about a two and a half hour conversation with them in text with easily over 300+ messages to teach them how the league works. Have a great day all!
  2. 1. I think it's a pretty cool topic, because you can kind of do anything with it. 2. Retro personally is something that is before my time. For example, I ended up doing a graphic with the old Mexico City Kings logo and that was before my time in the VHL. 3. My favorite Retro clothing trend would be Jeans with a button up shirt. I don't even know if that's retro anymore to be honest. 4. No, I think it's fairly easy, especially if you've been in the league for a bit. 5. Oh 100%, I would love to see Jacob in a retro outfit, it would be funny! 6. Wow, I don't even know what I'd do to be honest. Maybe something about past teams you've been on? That could be cool.
  3. I went with the old logo for the retro and tried to add a bit of an "old school" theme look to it instead of just using plain white. Also used a different render too. I really like how this turned out overall. Honestly, probably better than the one I have now for myself.
  4. 1. I think we've had a great start to the season and I can't wait to see how many wins we can pick up! 2. My player isn't doing very good in the VHL, but my team is. I'm not that mad because of that. 3. I believe it's a temporary set back, we always coming in flying at the beginning and end. 4. Uh, I don't know. Go me! 5. No I didn't make it as my player is in the VHL. I think the all-star event will be fun and I'm the GM for one of the teams! 6. Well, I have the Bruins winning it all and they look good. So going well!
  5. Siyan Yasilievich - Where is he on the stat-sheet? We caught up with London Defenseman Siyan Yasilievich who is having a rough time during the season. He currently has 5 goals 11 assists, good for 16 points in 21 games played with a -12 on the season. We asked him some questions about the season and how he plans on turning it around! Interviewer: So it's been a bit of a rough time for you, as you've fallen off pretty hard and nothing seems to be going your way. Do you attribute this to being on a new team? "I mean yeah you can some some of it is because I'm on a new team, but I should be playing better. I seriously don't know why things aren't working, I'm playing like I usually do and it just seems like every bounce is going the wrong way for me. I think maybe I need to adapt to the team and play a better two-way game, instead of just focusing on offense like I usually do." Interviewer: Interesting. Another question, do you believe that once you get going again, you can be a contender? "For sure. We're missing one of our best defenseman in myself and we're still a playoff team in my eyes. I feel like once I get going, we should be able to contend with the best teams in the league and make a run." Interviewer: Do you feel like any of this is a difference in style between Davos and London and the players? "Eh, I guess? It doesn't really matter though, because a good player can always adapt. I have some fantastic teammates on London and I'm glad a majority of them are having fantastic seasons. However, I want to be able to enjoy that success with them and be one of the best. Currently, I'm not doing that and I need to find a way to get to their level right now." Interviewer: How has your time in London been by the way, I forgot to ask. "It's been great to be honest. Everyone here is super supportive and I really like the fans here. On top of that I feel like we've got an amazing group in the locker room and they're here to support me through this dry spell. When one player is having a tough time, another player steps up, and that's the type of team I want to be on. I wouldn't want it any other way, I'm glad to be apart of this organization. Interviewer: Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans and maybe the fans of London before we head off here? "I'm sorry about my performance so far this season. This is not what any of us want and I promise I will step it up as the season goes on. I'm in a bit of a dry spell right now and nothing is really going my way, but once things start bouncing the way I want them to, I'll be a top defenseman in the league again. You can quote me on that. I'm excited with what we've got for this team and I think we've got a chance at a cup."
  6. 1. I'm going to say Igor Molotov, he's been having a fantastic season so far and I believe he'll continue to do so. 2. Yes, I think with the team around him and how well they've been playing, they can for sure be in contention. 3. Igor Molotov, he will lead in points and also goals for this team. 4. Around 2500, 27 shots a game. 5. Yes, I think London will make the playoffs. We'll break the curse and go far in the playoffs! 6. Of course. I think he's put the team in a place to succeed and we have to reward him.
  7. London United Off to a Good Start London United Off to a Good Start The London United is seven games into their seventy-two game season and sit at a current record of 4-2-1, good for fourth in the EU conference. London has yet to win a single playoff series and this season they look poised to do so, but it's very early into the season and anything can happen. Leading the way for the team is the three musketeers of Hari Singh Nalwa, Igor Molotov, and Siyan Yasilievich. They are all sitting at 9 points in 7 games played and look to be the key driving force of the United's offense early on, however that could change as the season progresses. We caught up with Siyan Yasilievich and asked him his thoughts on this season so far, to which he said, "I'm pretty happy with our start so far. I feel like personally, I could be playing better, but it's very early in the season and there's still lots of time to go. I really like the group we have going here and I feel like this could finally be the team to break the curse, but it's fairly early on like I said. I will say though, the fans here are great and I'm feeling like I'm at home in London. I don't know how many times I've had someone see me on the streets of London and give me a thumbs up or a "good luck tonight". It's great to see and it really motivates me to want to do better not just for my teammates, but for the city also." Siyan currently is sitting at 4 goals and 5 assists this season, tied for the team lead in points and also goals. He's taken upon himself to shoot more this season and it's clearly showing, especially on the powerplay where he already has netted himself three powerplay goals. On top of that, London recently played Davos where they split the two games 1-1 and Siyan was seen talking to his old teammates during the warmups. We asked him what it's like to play against Davos and if he has anything to say about his old teammates, he replied, "I mean I love the city of Davos and the players. It was my first ever home in the VHL and I don't think I'll ever really hate Davos. They've got some great fans, great atmosphere in that arena, and honestly, it was a blast playing there. My old teammates seem to be doing just fine as Davos is 6-2 this season already, but I'll be looking to take them down when the games matter the most. I have something to prove and that's that I wasn't carried by Davos, I helped carry them and that's something I want to prove this season." London has a long season ahead of them, but this could just be the start of something special for the London United. Mexico City Kings The Mexico City Kings also are off to a hot start yet again, being 5-1-2 in their first eight games in the minors. I'm looking forward to this season and I feel like we've got a real shot at the cup!

  11. Glad to have Magnus Carlsen on the team! Hopefully he can do some great things for us. We could use a cup!
  12. 1. I think I did a fantastic job at the draft.. I mean, if I ended up saying I didn't that wouldn't look good! 2. I think it'll be an interesting strategy moving forward. I ended up going for defenseman because we're always an "offensive team", so I want to try something different! 3. I expect us to win the cup. I think anything less than that is a failure. 4. I think we will actually be a more defensive team this season, so I foresee nobody on our team top three due to this. 5. I did watch the VHLM Draft Stream as I was on it! It was a great time. 6. LETS GO BUFFALO BABY WE GONNA MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!!!!
  13. Siyan Yasilievich - Looking Forward to the Season We caught up with the newest member of London, Siyan Yasilievich and asked him his thoughts on the upcoming season in an interview below, enjoy! Interviewer: So Siyan, you've been traded out of Davos and will begin the season on a new team. Was this something that you were planning on in the off-season? "I'd say that it was very likely that I got traded, but I didn't necessarily asked to immediately be traded. I was going to go to Free Agency after the season most likely and Davos just wanted assets in return, which I honestly respect. Nothing wrong with that. I didn't know what team I was going to go to, but landing on London seemed like a good destination for me." Interviewer: Following up on that, were there other teams that reached out to you? Anywhere you really wanted to land? "I didn't necessarily care where I was going to get traded, because if I disliked the team I would just go to Free Agency once the season ended. There was a lot of teams calling the phones trying to pick me up, and I could pretty much say I would've loved to play for any of them. It's always a good feeling when there's a lot of teams that want you on their team as that franchise piece." Interviewer: Moving on, lets look ahead to the season. London ended up missing the post-season and are looking to get back in, where do you see this roster at the end of the season in the standings? "I would say I think we're for sure a playoff team. Whether that means being in the wildcard game or not is a whole different story, but I believe we're going to make it into the post-season. I think we've got a great group here and we can do some damage in the playoffs." Interviewer: You are aware of the curse that London has in the fact they've never won a playoff series before correct? "Yes, I'm aware. I want to help them break that curse and finally get further in the playoffs. I think the entire team does." Interviewer: Is there anything else you want to say before we wrap this up? "I just want to say thanks everyone for the support even though I'm out of Davos. It's been a blast in Davos and I can't wait for what this team holds for me this season, and in the future. Thanks!" Interviewer: That'll be it from us here, we hope to see you light up the league again during the season. "Thanks!" Siyan Yasilievich is currently coming off a career high season, where he helped Davos all the way to the finals, but just falling short. He'll be looking to take this new team to the same place and ultimately hopefully raising the cup at the end of the season. Expectations are playoffs for this team, but as always Siyan wants more from himself and his teammates. He believes that they can reach another level and that his teammates will push him to the place where he wants to be.
