I am pleased so far. I thought the violence was a bit gratuitous, but I suppose that’s to be expected at this point. So far it seems like it’s been a good compromise of pleasing the book needs and actually telling a decent story, while still appealing to as broad of an audience as possible. I also feel like they’ve gone a solid job of establishing the greyness of the characters

I don’t really think so imo. He needed the kills to open the gates, and once all four gates were opened, it would tear the giant rift in the town, which happened after she died for a bit. However, I do think getting shotgunned out the window weakened him for a while, so that’ll act as justification as to why he perhaps won’t be able to IMMEDIATELY end the world now that the rift is open, and that will give the heroes a minute to plan a defence and make a season out of it.
