  1. Eastern Europe shut out as Team Nordic advances to gold medal game For the second straight tournament, and the fourth time in the past seven, Team Nordic will be playing for a gold medal. Finishing the round robin as the second seed, Team Nordic game into this game as the favorites, and it showed early on. They owned the first period, out-shooting Eastern Europe 20-4 in the first 20 minutes. It was going to take another stellar performance from Sirkants Klamasteris, who had 55 saves in the quarter finals, for Eastern Europe to advance. Unfortunately for them, he couldn't keep them off the score sheet, as they scored thrice in the period. The first goal came at 6:20 on a power play, as Dan Dan took a pass from Linus Zetterstrom and put the puck past Klamasteris. Late in the period, Saku Kotkakoivu and Reylynn Reinhart would add goals to make it a 3-0 lead going into the second. After a scoreless second period, Eastern Europe actually came out firing in the third, but unfortunately for them, Papa Emeritus was a wall. He didn't have to work much early on, but when it came time for him to shine, he stopped all 21 shots in the final frame to complete the shutout. That Dude and Dan Dan scored goals for Team Nordic in the period to make the final score 5-0. Team Nordic's opponent for the gold medal will be Team USA, who pulled off the upset against Team World in the other semi final match. Eastern Europe and Team World will play for the bronze.
  2. My cold streak continues into the playoff rounds but that's fine if we keep winning.
  3. Coming off of a 59-goal season which had him tied for second in the league, Taylor Mourning was traded from the Malmo Nighthawks to the D.C. Dragons. While the Dragons do not look like a particularly great team, in the weak North American Conference they might just be the third best. The defense is definitely the strongest position group on the team, being comprised of the trio of Poopy Peepants, Corey Kitson, and Ryan Vidot. In net, they have the S82 2nd overall pick Bubbles Utonium making his debut in the VHL. Then there are the forwards. Mourning is definitely the best of the group, and that could have him primed for an even bigger season than the last. Joining him include two Dragons from last season, Miles Johnson and Guy Lambert. This pair did show some skill last season working together, with Johnson scoring 47 goals and Lambert notching 66 assists. These two players are getting up there in age, however. Mourning will likely get the most help from rookie Ronan Lavelle, last season's VHLE leader in points (101) and goals (49). Sophomore Brian Schmigel is the last of the group, but he's not expected to make much of an impact.
  4. And those four players combine for how many championships?
  5. @JardyB10 if you need something while you wait for someone more talented to make something
  6. That's what happens when you trade Taylor Mourning.

    This is a great comment.
  9. Huh, I didn't know until now that OrbitingDeath is Green. I just assume they were some new member who joined while I was inactive.
  10. First time a Malmo-Moscow series is going the distance.
  11. Great game 1 but unfortunately we crumbled in game 2.
  12. The first round of the playoffs this season will feature some familiar matchups in both conferences. In North America, we will see the Seattle Bears face the Toronto Legion. These are two teams who have been in the league since the beginning, though the Bears played as the Everblades for the first season. Across the pond, the Moscow Menace and Malmo Nighthawks have been seeing a lot of each other in recent seasons, but this time around the matchup is a little bit earlier. Over the course of the 81 prior VHL seasons, the Seattle Bears and Toronto Legion have faced each other in the playoffs 16 times. With this season making 17, this will now be tied for the second-most common playoff match-up in VHL history. The Legion currently have the advantage, with ten wins to six, but Seattle came out ahead the last time they played back in S77. The Bears will have home advantage, but the Legion won the season series four games to one. The Menace and Nighthawks have not been in the VHL quite as long (Moscow since S65; Malmo since S66), but they have gotten their fair dose of each other in the time they have been around. This will be the fifth time they have met in the playoffs. Moscow has won three of the previous four meetings, which includes the European Conference Championship in each of the last two seasons. These two teams aren't conference favorites anymore, but you can't count out their experience.
  13. Yeah, no shot. London will be losing to Malmo.
