  4. Not gonna lie, I'm tempted to go goalie, but I remember the frustration that it brought. You can do everything right with your build and the player will still struggle. Thanks for the well-wishes and see you around!
  5. Gritty is love. Gritty is life.
  6. I didn't have a choice, Fightin' Joe Flacco wouldn't let me say no. Good to see you again, old friend!
  7. You're not kidding, there is a lot of new content, but it's fantastic to see such growth from the league! I definitely have some homework to do before I recreate.
  8. Hello VHL! It's been a long time, several years in fact. Some of you may remember me, but many more probably don't, so I felt a reintroduction of sorts would be a good way to re-enter this awesome community. I've made several players here, but my most successful by far was Thomas Landry, a RW that captained the HC Davos Dynamo to several cup appearances and victories in... oh God... Season 30s? 40s? He would be a rather old man by now in the league's timeline. I wrote for the VHL Magazine for several seasons and I also held an Assistant GM position in the VHLM as well. Since those days, a lot has changed. I moved from my hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania to just outside of Reading (where I became a season ticket holder of the Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers). I've been married for over three years and I'm now the father of an absolutely ridiculous 18 month old son. I work for the Reading School District as an assistant in a classroom for children with multiple disabilities. I also work part time at a daycare, so needless to say, I work very long days. I can be found most nights on the World of CHEL on NHL 20 (Xbox One), where I'll be playing pretty much whatever position while hopelessly trying to teach myself how to play goalie. I absolutely will be creating a new player for the S71 draft class, and I have several ideas for what I want to do. However, I'm going to take some time to evaluate which positions would be the best to create at, along with beginning to reintegrate into this community. I've really missed writing, so really excited to get to do so again. Hoping to reacquaint with some old friends and hopefully make some new friends soon!
  9. I like it, I wouldn't have to bullshit about college or junior level teams or stats for those player profiles and scouting reports!
  10. Give me a week or so to fill in the gaps of VHL history and I can better answer this.
  11. He's here to develop the young talent that Hextall got (yet refuses to move up). I thought he did a good job his first season, but took a step back last year. A TON of regression in areas across the board. If the team continues to underperform and make the same mistakes next season, he's gotta go IMO.
  12. FromPenn2Broad, we still have a Facebook page and occasionally do podcasts, but aren't writing articles because of a lack of an affordable hosting domain for us.
  13. Does the VHL officially recognize goalie sacks yet?

Pretty much. Nowadays, instead of making decisions based on "hockey stats", we put everyone who got a goalie sack in the regular season into a poll and the winner of the poll is the MVP for that year.

      It's a flawless system.

  14. You're probably reading this right now wondering, "What the hell, where's the Jethro Novacek articles?" To that, I simply say relax, they will be returning. But, after a long hiatus, I felt it best to abuse the 590 article to let you guys catch up on how I've been without it being hidden in some thread and also getting Charles Murphy a precious point of TPE. First things first, I got married last September. All jokes aside, no, that's not why I stopped coming around (I think that had already happened by then, my concept of time with that is considerably off). But a new job, new home and new family (no, no babies yet!) didn't help towards a return. Despite being away, the VHL was on my mind quite a bit during my absence. Whether it was the folks I'm friends with on the Facepage (happy 112th birthday by the way, Austin), watching the Flyers blunder their way through the season to simply missing writing, I absolutely missed this community. But the VHL is a place where at least to me, I've always felt that you either gave 100% or you gave nothing. Nothing keeps you from giving 100% like your laptop taking a crap and going down for the count. But luckily for me, a $70 notebook courtesy of the Facepage Marketplace means I can type without using a small touch screen again, which means writing point tasks is no longer worse than an aggravated sexual assault through a colonoscopy. Yes, I am still re-enacting the Civil War and World War II. No, we still haven't won either of them yet. I've now been a season ticket holder of the Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, for two seasons now. I even got to cover them sort of professionally for a season through a website, complete with a press pass and access to the locker room for post-game interviews. It was a great experience, but GoDaddy jacked up our website's monthly payments and we couldn't keep up. They also own all of our content due to it, so I can't even show you guys what I got to do or even prove I did it. Fuck you Danica Patrick, you still suck. But I am thrilled to be back and it's definitely pleasantly surprising to see how I missed I was. The feeling was mutual, VHL. Feel free to ask any questions about what I've been up to, either here, the messenger app or whatever medium you choose. I'm not picky.
  15. Well I certainly have nothing to complain about then, do I?
  16. Good to see you all again! Probably not the best time in the world to recreate, but no sense in waiting. Landry wasn't created at the optimal time and he did alright I suppose.

We have snowstorms all the time here in Alberta, and none of us cancel our buses or stop working. When you live in the cold regularly, you realize it isn't the end of the world.
