New York Americans Offseason Prep to Season 80
Phil replied to Rhynex Entertainment's topic in Archived Media Spots
Review: Amazing breakdown of the New York Americans' off-season. They made some amazing moves, and although it's heartbreaking to see @Proutand @Jtv123leave Calgary, I wish them and NYA all the best, especially since it led to being reunited with @DollarAndADream again, which is just fantastic. The only thing I would add to this spot would be a picture for this to be considered perfect. I love when Spotters tag members in articles. It's a great way to stimulate engagement. Great work @Rhynex Entertainment:cheers: -
Review: Wonderfully written and presented article on the anxiety of a player being drafted! Usually I at least can offer some constructive feedback on presentation, layout, or grammar, but you really nailed this article: title, picture, proper sentence structure, VHL content, engaging... I literally have nothing constructive to say. This is easily a 10/10 article. All the best in San Diego and I'll look forward to reading more of your Media Spots @Tomat0!

As always, The Rock enters this season juggling expectations. The giant is now in his 5th season and yet has really to leave his mark. However he remains optimistic, as so far in the 2 games played, he's gotten 3 assists and 15 hits. It's not great, but if he can keep that pace up, then he would be looking at ending the season with 0 goals, 108 assists, and 540 hits. A pretty ridiculous target which after tonight's game will surely be lowered, but still the rock is feeling cautiously optimistic. With Luke Thornton now off to new york, he's really the only forward with checking in his repertoire. He actually may be a good fantasy sleeper pick. But once more only time and his continued productivity will tell whether he is ready to step up or continue to be a perennial disappointment. With the last nine words in this article I will say GO WRANGLERS GO :cgy:

These days kids don’t get the reference. Although if you weren’t from Toronto or listening to the radio 15-20 years ago would you get the reference? It seems a lot has changed. Is Bob McCowan still even on the radio? the point is that if you’re going to do a fan590 article, it really should be a short podcast where you rant about how dismal the leafs are (and throw in some vhl content to appease the commissioners) but in essence that’s what the fan590 was all about. things were different back then. You’d actually need to look up a word in a dictionary to make sure you spelled it correctly. Can you imagine? The vhl is amazing and thriving now but somehow back towards its inception, it really did seem like simpler times and humbler beginnings. Good times.. but I’m also excited for the good times ahead.

1. The finals have been very exciting, has your player went to watch any of the final games? no. I’ve been working on my golf swinging and my beer bod. 2. What has your player been up to since the Wrangler elimination? oh, see answer number one. Been drinking some brews and swinging some golf club. Almost set a course record you know. 3. If you could have any VHL player (current or retired) play on the Wranglers next season, who would you pick? scotty campbell. We need a miracle 4. If you could have any NHL player (current or retired) play on the Wranglers next season, who would you pick? Sundin. Totally underrated and such a great leader. My man 5. Other than Hockey, what other sport is your player good at? Powerlifting. I snatch and jerk all the time (sounds bad but is legit powerlifting terms 6. What is your favorite motivational quote? i get knocked down but I get up again you’re never gonna keep me down. Right on Chumbawumba

It’s Sunday night and while most players are either out partying or at home relaxing, Phil the Rock Johnson is actually getting a few more hours of practice in at the Horses arena before the week is done. The big man winger has just finished his fourth season in the vhl and the reports are that he’s feeling solely responsible for Calgary exiting the playoffs in the Wildcard series. He feels he has once more let his team done and wants to amend it. word has is that he will be putting in even more hours of practice than he has up until this point in his career. Based on his on ice performances so far.. that can’t be a bad thing

It seems that the Rock is destined for mediocrity in his VHL career. He has finished half his career and has yet to eclipse 70 points in a single season or 300 hits in a single season. the question is now whether he should focus on hockey or on his budding acting career. it may come as a shock to you that he has been acting on the side for several years. Mostly he does stand up at the local bars he visits for open mic night whenever he’s on the road during the vhl season. He likes to spend most of his off-season in Chicago trying to get work at Second City. Perhaps this is the avenue he should entertain if it amounts to anything. In the meantime he is still very much committed to hockey and the Calgary Wranglers… and with playoffs looming there’s no room for distractions. It’s all business.. lol, although not show business yet.

Sometimes everyone should take Neil Young's advice. Phil the Rock Johnson has often used this as his life mantra. Don't life the man get you down... don't let anyone keep you down.. and if you fall, pick yourself up and try again. "You only learn by losing. The lessons are so much more valuable than any you get winning." The Rock has told VHL.com this multiple times and will probably keep saying it until his career's over. Calgary currently sit second in the conference, level with Seattle on points but played a game more. The Rock's season has been the same as his previous - underwhelming offense and decent in the hits department. At this point in his career it's safe to assume that the Rock is a fabulously average player. The only thing superstar-y about his game is his personality. The Rock has come to terms with that: "Of course I want to be the best, but there can only be one best. That's the problem with playing in the best league in the world.. we're all the best." Through the 60 games, the Rock has collect just 35 points with 208 hits. Once again it looks like he'll miss the mark on even 300 hits.. over course his goal was to breach the 400 hits mark multiple times during his career. He currently has 693 career hits.. which puts him just 355 of all time. There's still a ways for him to go to even crack the 100 hits mark, but he'll do what he can

1. Have Hits Taken on the Player Page stat line please! 2. Bring Back the VHL Lottery. I never won and would like to! Strategize on the number of Capped vs Uncapped TPE handed out per lottery or per season. Would love to see Free Weeks, or additional money we could use in the store, or custom signatures. 3. 3. Yes, this. I would love to return to the days where we had a VHL Mentor (like I was) who's job it was to guide new members around the site, answer questions, and help get their name out there for GMs. As we know it's a lot to take in for newer members so on the Create a Player Page, asking if they would like a mentor to help them out and assigning one of us to it would help with at least short-term retention. It also creates a more welcoming environment and you can instantly make a connection with the member Sincerely, Phil

Jardy's Hecking Podcast, Episode 5: Questions and Rambling
Phil replied to JardyB10's topic in Archived Podcasts
Review: Another triumph in podcasting. Very glad you were actually driving when I asked the drivecast question. Left Lane Losers and no signaling are definitely irritating. Fuckers who want to turn the wrong way or hesitating changing lanes, even if you leave them space are annoying. Arrested development is amazing. I haven't watched the reboot. Living with a random woman? That sounds like the start of a horror movie. So does pan-frying burgers. Nice elevator music break. Some good talks about the beginning of the season. I find it harder and harder to predict who's going to be good. Theoretically all those mentioned should be killing it. Calgary S18 were sexy sluts. Great podders. Keep them coming @JardyB10 -

Review: Very original spot. Although I want to know more about the relationship now between Sunrise and Luz. Consider turning this into a series! If you've already done that, then AMAZING! You're ahead of me, but then I would suggest linking past series posts to the latest episode too! Constructively, A Main Title and an Image would have shored up the presentation, but I love the Legend. That allows the reader to read the conversation more fluidly. Fun spot @Thunfish 9/10

Malmo 1st in the league, some cool stats, and rambling.
Phil replied to Telkster's topic in Archived Media Spots
Review: @Telkster Great spot. I enjoy the length; it's not too long to drag out and has a good flow to it. Constructively, I would say just add in a title image and you'll be good to go. The headings were fine; nice and clear. The only other thing I would say was lacking would be some colour. I usually just put any quotes in a different colour, but it honestly doesn't detract from the content, which was great. 9/10!
