Bears Off-Season, The VHL and MORE!

Happy Monday, everyone! I called in today. I have a few more weeks left at this horrible/toxic company before I'm able to throw in my resignation notice and happily leave for something a lot better. To give a comparison, right now I'm playing for a small town of 700's beer league ice hockey team. I'm leaving for the NHL. The biggest company in it's field in Canada and in the Top 5 for North America. I'm excited and I'm happy for it. As mentioned, the previous place is toxic. I'm not sure why some men can't grow out of the high school/immaturity behavior. Totally, behind closed doors, with your friends or something, be young and whatever you want. Age is a number. In a professional setting though, I feel like there's zero reasons to be making jokes of drug use and penises. It's so weird to here from the highest person in the company "dick sucking" or "little penis" jokes. Right? Or no? Then, the safety guy there is the opposite of his role. No safety at all. To boot, we had an employee fired for sexual harassment towards a female employee. What does the safety manager do? Takes the terminated employees name tag and puts it in the female employees locker for her to find. How did I find out? During a test we were doing - he was telling us and the HR lady the "joke".

To the VHL, things have been busy. If you haven't seen it in every other media spots or written piece on the league, the VHL had an interesting and energetic off-season. Everyone sold. Everyone bought. It was strange. Lots were selling. Few were buying. Lots in limbo. A few head scratcher of trades that seemingly worked out with some fine polishing, luck and communications. We're into S99 and in the finale of doubles before we hit triple digits. I think it's going to be a very busy season for myself in the role of co-recruitment head and GM. Not overly looking forward to it but what can you do.

  • Seattle's draft was interesting. @slothfacekilla and @thadthrasher join the team. While things are bleak right now on the roster, we're rebuilding. It's expected. These 2 are going to turn the jets on even more than they're on now and push for great things in Seattle. The future is bright and it's neat to be able to add these two. I was close to selecting my own player, but chose LR health and enjoyment over the pure dominance of a player. 100% guarantee. They won't leave. They will update. It's a handy tool.
  • S100 really fucked some shit up. Everyone wanted to hold out for some dumb ass milestone season, but like, isn't 99 cool too? Gretzky? Last before triple digits blah blah? Closing out a century? What's next? 111? 123? I thought it was dumb and it's likely going to have some minor impacts down the road. We lowered the cap, so maybe expect that to go up eventually again. We won't get into the cap going down as I think it's dumb and disagree with it. We always tinker with dumb shit. The BOG rarely focuses on the core issues. They like to focus and fix symptoms, not problems.
  • I was expecting to be drafted to LAS but @InstantRockstar continues to prove his disbelievers right and was a no show. Instead, I go to Davos. I thought I had decent enough relations with Davos and their members like @Ahma, but now I'm not entirely too sure. I seen a post in the LR where ahma was mentioning something that happened back in the S50's where he came back from inactivity and retired on me out of the blue without even talking. I was pissed and rightfully so. Dick move imo. If it happened to me today, I'd still be pissed. I think he maybe had a season left. Very few. We were a very strong team. Hasn't liked me since then apparently despite me thinking we were actually on decent terms. (we've chatted and are good. This is storyline baby). Overall, the rest of the team is good. @Pifferfish @CowboyinAmerica @Anthique @JCarson @Jubis @Vice @MexicanCow123 and @Velevra are all good members I appreciate and have zero issues with. We'll see how things go. As of now, if we magically skipped ahead in time and my contract ended, I'd be testing FA.
  • Seattle managed to trade away most of their huge guns for a relatively nice and friendly return both ways, for each team. I'm happy with this. We found homes for all these guys instead of letting them rot on one of the worst teams (which is the purpose of lowering the salary cap, too. To spread out the competition to all teams and to aid GM's who can't build their teams properly). It was always my goal if we flipped the script. @Mongoose87 was the latest and that was a big one for me. A goalie is most effected by rebuilding. Players can still put up okay numbers, but goalies pile up on the losses and shit stats like a weaker GAA. .

LASTLY, let's get that DOUBLE week claim here... @Hogan @frescoelmo @Aimee @OblivionWalker @Mongoose87 @Nathan_8 @Mysterious_Fish @Kisslinger @Gustav @Berocka --> We had a really good team last year and did a lot of good things. Yout put in decent enough effort to get us going. When we hit playoffs, I felt we had a strong chance and certainly didn't think we'd lose to a team with a CPU forward. They won the cup! So I guess that makes a guy feel a bit better. Thanks for being loyal to Seattle in whatever capacity you were. Thanks for coming onboard and giving myself and Seattle a chance. I really do appreciate your presence in the league and the effort you put in to help in be a better place (and alive, for now..). GOOD LUCK with your players moving forward and hope to see you around SEA again one day... Hell, let's start planning now and SEA and all you can hold out for the S111 draft ;)

1,023 words, but going to wish everyone a strong and positive week just to get a few more words in. CHEERS :)
