Higgins reacted to Victor in Stepping down as Trivia Head
The announcement last night (or this morning for me) about outlawing trivia answer sharing has caught me off guard. When I first read it I assumed that I had somehow slept through February and March and it was now April Fools Day but reading further I realised it was not a joke. The decision seems to have been taken as a snap decision within about an hour last night on Discord. I did not go onto Discord last night so was completely blindsided by it, but although a word of warning would have been nice given I created and run the thing, that lack of consultation is not why I am stepping down.

No, I am stepping down because I do not want to be associated with such a draconian measure. I have never outlawed anything other than people literally replying to the thread with the answers because that completely defeats the point. If people want to rely on their teammates or friends, it never bothered me.

The spirit of trivia for me is effectively twofold. You have a group of people who genuinely enjoy finding the answers and will do so regardless of how easy it is to get them anyway. That's the real target audience. But then you have most of the league who don't necessarily know or care about finding the answers and just want the TPE. And there is nothing wrong with that. I am a firm believer that even by blindly filling out the form every week without doing the research, a member who does that for many weeks and seasons will pick up some VHL history they wouldn't otherwise know. And that to me is still a win and helps carry the league's legacy as the longest lasting sim league because we still have an appreciation for long-gone players and seasons.

So with that in mind, effective tomorrow I will be stepping down as head of trivia after paying out the week 2 answers for S70. If the league's stance changes I will be happy to resume the role, but if not it's been a good ride but you've made a mistake.

Yeah theres probably a bunch of missed jobs on peoples HOF articles. I just looked at mine and VHLM Commish and Grader weren’t included.

Still cool general stats. I’d like to see all the HOF VHL GMs records and seasons compiled someday

I wanted to see some statistics on Builders in the Hall of Fame, so I created this spreadsheet.

    Some interesting things of note:
This data isn't perfect, so please don't crucify me if the person who wrote your HoF Builder article forgot a position League Job you had It seems like the two most common League Jobs that HoF Builders have had are VHL GM and Grader, so if you want to make it into the Hall of Fame as a Builder one day, I suggest starting with those two positions. We have a tie for 1st in terms of total league jobs, with Chris Miller (@Advantage), Conner Low (@Smarch), and Jim Gow (@flyersfan1453) all with 8. There is also a tie for least amount of league positions to make it into the HoF as a builder, with Lucas Tannahill (@PensFan101) and Sandro Desaulniers (@Sandro) only having 2 league positions held. This is obviously only based on statistics, there is much more that goes into being inducted into the HoF as a builder than just how many league jobs you had. This is pretty interesting to me, as there are a few members who I thought were builders, but apparently they were not. I may make a media spot in the future about possible members who should be considered.

    HC Davos Dynamo receives
    Jagger Philliefan, S70 MOS 3rd, S70 RIG 3rd, S70 DAV 3rd, S70 CGY 3rd, S71 VAN 2nd

     Vancouver Wolves receives
Jerry Wang, rights to Blacker Velvet, S72 DAV 2nd

    Trade Analysis

After being competitive for so long, the Vancouver Wolves eventually had to give in. They traded veteran defenseman Jagger Philliefan along with four 3rd round selections in last Sunday's draft to the permanently rebuilding HC Davos Dynamo. In return, the Dynamo gave up prospects Jerry Wang and Blacker Velvet. The two teams also swapped 2nd round picks. It's not exactly the start of a rebuild for the Wolves. Their roster is still good enough to be aiming for a Continental Cup, but they are starting to feel the pressure of the salary cap, which is made evident by the fact that they had to trade a career Wolf, in his 6th season with the team. He will be replaced as the team's 2nd best blueliner by youngster Jeff Downey. The return was good for the Wolves, as they gained two great prospects that should make the team in the near future and should be among the best players on the team in a couple of seasons, and Davos' 2nd pick in Season 71 will surely be higher on the board than the Season 72 2nd pick they gave away. The return for the Swiss franchise is a bit more puzzling. There weren’t many interesting prospects available in the 3rd round, so it really comes down to the value of a blueliner two seasons removed from retirement. Are they really in a position to be acquiring veterans, or should they keep up with the rebuilding efforts for one more season?

    Get to know the player

    Jagger Philliefan
A consistent offensive producer, Jagger Philliefan is one year removed from a Season 68 during which he set career highs with 14 goals and 80 points. He has failed to pass the 10-goal, 60-point plateaus in every other 4 seasons of his VHL career, but he has been really close. The 11th overall pick in the Season 64 VHL Entry Draft has also been a solid presence in his own zone, totalling 695 hits and 499 shots blocked in 5 seasons. Last season, Jagger Philliefan signed a two-season extension that would make him a Wolf until the end of his career, though the contract carries a player option for Season 71. This means that, following this season, the blueliner could opt out of the contract and hit free agency, where he could choose the team with each he spend his last season in the VHL.

    Jerry Wang
The better of the two prospects included in this deal, Jerry Wang already shows glimpses of a future superstar. The right-winger was the last pick of the 2nd round in Season 68, but his tremendous speed and his dangerous wrister show he could easily have been selected in the 1st round. He’s expected to round out arguably the best top 6 in the league, giving him a great opportunity to exceed the 35 points he scored as a rookie. It’ll be interesting to see him develop in a competitive team in which he is the 6th best forward, giving him unlimited ice time to prove his worth.

    Blacker Velvet
The son of legendary Black Velvet, winner of two Sterling Labatte trophies and five Continental Cups from Season 48 to Season 55, Blacker Velvet joins the Wolves amidst some sort of controversy surrounding his contract. After being selected 19th overall last offseason by the HC Davos Dynamo, Velvet never signed an entry-level contract. His status is still up in the air, as he claims he should be released as a free agent this offseason. We don’t know yet if he has discussed signing his first major-league contract with the Wolves following the trade. Either way, he’s expected to report to the Las Vegas Aces in the VHLM, where he scored 50 goals and 147 points over two seasons.

Hello everyone, if you do not know who I am you may not have figured it out or heard through the grapevine. My is Kendrick and I used to be a member here under that username. I left on terms that weren't what I would have preferred to go out on. I have left a few leagues on better terms than this one, and I find that disappointing because for a large chunk of my time online; this was the place to be. For a while there there seemed to be some people I clashed with for whatever reasons they may be (every interaction with some users was a different experience). I won't deny that I got into it with some people when I could've either avoided it or simply bit my tongue. I owe a bunch of people apologies and a public airing of those seems the best way so they can see it here for reference. I tend to usually make private discussions to do so, but some of those people don't have discord so I don't know how to find them. Anyways, figured I'd get to the nitty gritty.

First off, @Beketov. I was hard on you in the days/weeks leading up to me leaving as I was also overwhelmed with the lack of respect from others and putting pressure on you was unfair on my part. I should've handled that better and you do a stand up job at making sure things are running smoothly around here.

@Tagger I think in the past I've been hard on you and it bugs me a bit because you've shown to be a man of integrity and class. I apologize for anything that I may have let get away from me.

@Beaviss for a while we worked hand in hand in trying to pump this website full of new members. We saw a bunch of things fail and a bunch of things turn a recruiting profit. You're committed to it and that should tell me all I need to know about you. You really do have the VHL as a thing that you pride yourself on positively promoting.

@Banackock At times I was very hard on you. I would never personally attack you as I didn't often do that with people on here (more of a passive aggressive type). You re good shit and do a standup job. Your commitment to your team and the leagues growth is something this league is lucky to have.

@Victor We have gotten into it from time to time. There were periods of your reign that irked me a little because of the wishy washy rules or what not, but you also never attacked anyone and seemed to have the VHL's growth at the top of your list.

@flyersfan1453 I'm not sure what exactly I did, but there was a time when you started to dislike my actions. I would appreciate  a private message so I can begin to understand what it was that set us apart because when I brought you to Cologne, I was very excited and for a long period of time we worked like a good tandem.

@Devise I have no clue if you will see this (because I don't know if this is your username) but I respect you, appreciate your knowledge on many different things and can always get behind your ideas when it comes to this league.

@boubabi We clashed a lot. Many people have heard about the clash. It was like an oil and water sort of things. I think you're a dedicated member when you're here and you taught me a bit about graphics (something I still have room for improvement on). You've said somethings that I scratch my head at, and at times touch topics that are better left in the mud but I honestly feel that maybe it's just a bunch of different personalities that don't see eye to eye. I honestly don't feel like that pits us against each other though, you have a view on things as you are opinionated and I appreciate that. To be honest, if you didn't state your opinions on matters I'd probably be pissed because "if you have a voice, use it".

To anyone else that may feel slighted by no personalized note, feel free to get ahold of me to hash things out, shoot the shit, take the piss or whatever you want to address. I've met some pretty talented, knowledgable, generous (the recent donation fund was great to see!) & inspiring people here and I don't think that will change.

For some that may need some air to be cleared. In relation to my voting habits, for a long period of time I was a very unbiased voter for league awards and trophies. A few times I did vote biased because I did see some other members pump their own tires when I felt it wasn't justified. Not saying it was a reactionary thing, but I let my own emotions get in the way of voting. There were times when my personal life seemed like it was raked over hot coals for some to destroy; which I felt pretty disappointed in. I'm a good man, work hard and yes at times wear my heart on my sleeve but I do think this site has grown and I still feel there is more positive growth coming it's way. Thank you for reading, enjoy your day!

Higgins got a reaction from Corco in Blacker seeks 7 year deal
The son of legendary 5 time cup champion Black Velvet has kept a low profile so far into his professional hockey career. Much unlike his father who at Blacker's age already won his 1st championship and released 2 hip hop singles that chartered in Canada Hot 100. The Velvet family name is forever celebrated in Toronto, remembered in Calgary, and thanked in Helsinki.

The average hockey fan has no idea Black Velvets son has been drafted and is playing professional hockey. Blacker was selected 19th overall by Davos in last seasons entry draft and has played the past 2 seasons with Las Vegas in the minors. Easy information for anyone to access to the VHL stat portal, but what might not be obvious is that Blacker never signed an Entry level contract with the team that drafted him. There was no arbitration case, no contract signed, and no training camp for Blacker who reported to Las Vegas and played the season under the radar.

Blacker may live in the shadow of his Hall of fame father, but for the first time we are hearing that Blacker Velvet is interested in joining the league his father dominated - the VHL. And he wants a 7 season contract. Unprecedented in league history - the longest contract in league history is 5 seasons. Will any general managers take a chance on the young Velvet for 7 years?
