Christmas got a reaction from scoop in Claimed:Francis Zach Morgan: 9th Overall? [Reviewed]
Take a look at this picture. What do you see? The top five youngsters drafted to the VHLM in the dispersal draft What don't you see? The wonderful and potential superstar Francis Zach Morgan. He was relegated to the second round after all the hype that was coming out for him, and has his career start on a low note having to prove himself to the world that being drafted so late was a major mistake. Who came ahead of him?

    1. Fabio Jokinen, a defenseman with a lot of potential and the best pure player in this draft class as it currently stands.
    2. Phil Shankly, a winger with a scoring touch and legs like the wind, another high talent player.
    3. Edwin Threencarnacion, arguably the best goaltender of this draft class but a surpise to be picked this early considering his position.
    4. Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVII, a strange defenseman with an odd family and one of the biggest "high risk high reward" players with his mental fortitude (or lack therof).
    5. Daryl Dortch, a winger who is somewhat better than Morgan in some respects, but could not be able to adjust to the speed of the game with his high-checking style.
    6. Rhett DeGrath, another goalie with a lot of talent but a surprising pick this high considering he isn't a physical wonder but it just tall and somewhat quick coming into this draft.
    7. Die Domi, another winger and another high checking style that may not be able to adapt. Many people talk about his work ethic, but it is only speculation right now.
    8. Brent Hardy, another defenseman with some potential but could be nothing more than a defensive defenseman, really.

Then came Francis Zach Morgan, surprisingly the first center to be chosen in this draft, which is a strange thing to see considering how important centers are to winning hockey games. There is speculation as to why Morgan dropped this low, and a lot of it has to do with the Morgan preceeding him who fell off a cliff in work ethic and was traded to just about every team in the VHL, but with this Morgan's appeal to the league showing how much he is going to work going forward, it is a strange thing to see all these GMs shy away from him.

What does this mean for Francis Zach Morgan in the VHLM? He is going to be the centerpiece of the Yukon Rush, a team he is not familiar with, and because he will have a lot of responsibility from the get-go he is going to need to continue to work out as hard as he can so that he can be one of the best prospects going forward and potentially be one of the top players picked in the VHL draft next season. But right now he is not considered to be a top prospect and he will have to work twice as hard to show the world that he will be a future star that will be invaluable to a team's chances at winning a cup.

Christmas got a reaction from Phil in Francis York Morgan's Coffee - Passing the Torch [Reviewed]
It's been awhile since I have talked to my coffee. Perhaps it has been too busy tearing up the league the last few years as a defenseman without a lot of raw skill but a lot of heart, or perhaps it has been laziness. It has been so long you all probably forgot about me and my coffee insight. But here I am again. After 8 seasons, it is now the time where I pack things up and move on from my career in hockey. It has been an interesting run. I started in Stockholm and had a couple really good seasons there. Then I moved to Quebec, and while I thought that was the team that was going to be where I retired, it was not to be. I had some good offensive years there but didn't do much else. Then came Calgary. One failed cup run later and I am moved out to yet another team. This one was the Toronto Legion, and I would have my two very best regular season and playoff years up to that point. Two championships later and I am high as a kite.

Surprisingly I didn't get to stay to try for a three-peat in my home country of Canada. I moved to Davos in a couple of trades, and now I am in a position where I could win my third championship in a row. A potential MVP. A potential defenseman of the year. And I missed it. A strange irony that the times that I was the least active I had the most success. But I have returned, even if for a short time, to pass the torch to someone younger and with a different kind of fire that in my retiring years I will look forward to watching play in my stead. Another Francis. Another Morgan. But there is something different about him...

He plays a new position, has a new way that he approaches the game, and has a new backstory. But that is a story for a different time. Right now, it is about transitioning from the old to the new. From a defenseman with some skills but all in the important places to a forward who could blossom into one of the greatest ever if he plays his cards right. And this is something I might have been able to see if I had been looking into my coffee more often. Because I hadn't, I see this transition as a surprise, and it makes my final year very bittersweet because I couldn't take the time to look at all the successes that I had over my career and appreciate what was to come.

But what's done is done. I will now make a more concentrated effort to look back on what I did with joy, and once I play my final playoff game during this post-season, it will turn the focus on Zach, who may turn heads despite my inability to do so. And in S52 I will be eagerly anticipating what he can do, because he is quite the player.

    Isn't that right, Zach?

Yeah, time to bring out Francis Zach Morgan.

York Morgan had a good career but I lost interest, so Zach Morgan will be way better. But what should I be? Goalie? Center? Winger?
