As of late it seems like Sebastian Laine is starting to feel at home in Oslo. Coming to the VHL has been tough for him, as the transition wasn't as easy as he thought it would be. Now starting to produce and getting more ice time, he has shown no turning back. Finishing out the regular season was a very good time for Sebastian as he was starting to score and feel more welcome in the locker room. Now heading into playoffs he is full of confidence, and it's shown with a first round sweep of the Bern Royals. Heading into the second round of playoffs, Sebastian is very excited to see what this team can do. If he could win a VHLM championship in his first season in the league it would be very impressive. They have some tough competition ahead of them, whether it's their second round opponent, Bratslavia or looking to either Ottawa or Yukon, in the other division. After this season with Oslo, Sebastian will go into the draft most likely getting picked up by a different team.

Making the transition to an entirely different league has been quite the struggle so far for Sebastian Laine. Playing with bigger, stronger, and faster players is definitely something that is difficult for any professional. The talent level compared to the Finnish Junior League is what was the biggest surprise for Laine. Sebastian is playing with the Oslo storm of the VHLM, after they picked him up off waivers. Laine says the biggest difficulty so far has been switching from the left wing he is used to playing. Now playing centre with Oslo, Sebastian says he will do anything to help the team going into the playoffs. “I feel like we are doing the rights things right now, the bounces just need to go our way for once” said Sebastian.

    The city of Oslo, Norway.

So far in nine games, he has only managed to compile one goal and two assists. “Coach said points don't matter to him, as long as you are going out and giving 110% every night”. That's what most people have realized so far, is that he is doing all the coach asks of him. Oslo hasn't been playing the best hockey as of late, and going into playoffs is something to be concerned about. There has been some brights spots in some of the games, but the puck just isn't going in the net right now. The fans in Oslo are hoping the goals will come in the last stretch before playoffs, and hopefully they can continue that into the postseason.

Once this season is over for Sebastian, it will be interesting to be what happens in terms of who he will be playing for next season. There are many so many players right now that are making themselves eligible for the Season 48 VHLM draft, that no one really knows where he will land. It could be anywhere from the top three selections, to anywhere in the third round. Players like Tony Pellerin, Kai Roberts, and Bobby Digital are going to be some of the most talented to ever enter this league. Some tough competition for a young kid like Sebastian, who just left home for the first time in his life. Hopefully with determination and hard work on the ice, he will make a name for himself in years to come.

An entire season for the prospects, next year in anticipation for the Season 49 Draft will be quite interesting. What happens in terms of how the prospects play, and most importantly the impact they make for the team they are playing with will be what every general manager across the VHL will be looking at. Another factor will be how the players act in the community, which will ultimately show the teams how much the players care about being there. We will take another look in a few weeks how the Season 49 Draft is shaping up.

The first week in the VHL has been good so far for Sebastian Laine. He was picked up on waivers by the Oslo Storm of the VHLM. He will play the rest of the season out, and then be eligible for the Season 48 VHLM dispersal draft. In his first two games with Oslo, Sebastian didn’t get any playing time. In his third game he made his presence with a quick assist, and managed to finish the game with a few shots, and a decent amount of ice time. The next 2 games, Sebastian was able to keep up his point per game pace and so far fans of Oslo are liking what they see. It will be interesting to see what happens from here on out in Oslo for Sebastian, as they are going to be making a playoff run this season. Sebastian is definitely out to prove something or the rest of thee year, to make himself a high pick in the dispersal draft.

WoldenGhore got a reaction from Da Trifecta in Claimed:Early look at Season 49 Draft [Reviewed]
Throughout the years of the VHL, one of the most exciting times of the year is the annual Entry Draft. The moment that prospects have been waiting for their entire junior careers is finally upon them. Each year brings in a unique class of players, and today we are going to look at the class of the Season 49 Draft.

    Pietro Maximoff
Pietro Maximoff is a name not too many people are familiar with, but this speedy winger from Romania is definitely someone to keep an eye on. Maximoff is a feared left winger, not only for his speed but also for his cannon of a shot. He can blow past defensemen in a blink of an eye, and this is a skill in high demand in any league across the world. One thing scouts say is he needs to learn to use the players around him more often, which will come with maturity. Be on the lookout for Pietro in the VHLM very soon, which is where he will be playing prior to the draft.

    Ilya Kopralkov
Next on the list is a goalie by the name of Ilya Kopralkov, who hails from a small town in Russia. This butterfly goaltender has been the talk of the future for Russian hockey for a long time now. It has been unclear for awhile now whether or not he was going to play professional hockey in Russia or come to the VHL. He made it pretty clear this past week, by making himself eligible for the Season 49 Draft. Goaltenders sometimes find it hard to make the transition to the VHL, but many people are saying that Ilya will have no problem making the transition.

    Sebastian Laine
Sebastian Laine from Finland is probably the most underrated player in this draft. The left winger, who scores a lot of goals in the Junior Finnish Elite League, is very intriguing in a way. No one has really heard much about Laine, but many scouts in Finland say he could be one of the next stars in any league across the world. His speed and scoring touch have been something that he has made famous in junior hockey, and if he can continue that into the VHL it would be very impressive. The VHL is definitely going to be a very big step for this young kid, but scouts say he is capable of doing it.

    Kai Roberts

It isn’t very often you hear of a hockey player coming from Louisiana, but Kai Roberts is changing that and is probably the highest ranked player coming into this draft. Scouts across the United States say he is one of the most talented forwards to join the league in ten years. His slick hands have been on display since the age of twelve, when he posted YouTube videos with his friends. From there he has been nothing but special, dominating junior hockey around North America. Whichever team ends up getting him is going to be happy with the player they are getting.

WoldenGhore got a reaction from Fire Tortorella in New Face - Sebastian Laine
Today fans of the VHL found out there is a new face entering the Season 49 Draft. His name is Sebastian Laine. The six foot two, one hundred and ninety pound left winger is a talented and gritty player. Laine is from Finland and has no relation to current VHLer Xavier Laine. By the sounds of it, the Oslo Storm seem to be the only team to put a claim in on him. Laine would be a big boost to any VHLM team this postseason. His tenacity and scoring touch is something that only comes around so often in players. It will be interesting to see where Laine ends up going in the Season 49 Draft, as there is lots of players with high potential. Laine seems to be a third rounder as of right now, but he will have a whole year in the minors to prove himself. We will continue to keep an eye out on the young Laine, with weekly progress reports.

    Early S37 Draft Preview

For a while it looked like the league was starting to thin out when it came to new talent joining the league. All of a sudden it looked like the S37 Draft was going to be quite the let down, but all of a sudden new talent started to come out of no where. Today we are going to look at some promising players that will be available come the draft.

Tom Slaughter (LW) - 190 TPE

Slaughter, who is playing with the Bratislava Watchmen this year is expected to go first overall after a few impressive years in the VHLM. He is one of the most talented play makers to probably ever enter the VHL, and is going to be a very exciting player for years to come. Even though he has had a slow start this season with the Watchmen, it’s the work ethic that impresses everyone. Bratislava is expected to win it all this year with most arguably one of the best rosters to ever be put together. They have backed that up with an impressive 14-0 start to the season.

    Slaeter Fjorsstrom (D) - 173 TPE

The five foot ten defenseman who also plays for the Watchmen is expected to battle for the top pick in the draft with Slaughter. Through 14 games this year Fjorsstrom is a disappointing +1 and only has six assists. This doesn't mean anything according to many general managers, as they know what kind of player he is. He has been known to play a very risky game for a defenseman, but his style can pay off largely. Whichever team manages to land him is going to have a great offensive defenseman for years to come.

    Blaine Olynick (G) - 63 TPE

Arguably the best goaltender in this years draft has been criticized for not having the best work ethic and that definitely scares some teams. Olynick could go anywhere from third overall to tenth overall in the draft depending on whoever is on the clock. This season he is playing with the Bern Royals and has posted a 5-1 record to start the year. His save percentage and goals against average numbers aren't the best, but he wins games and that’s what teams want in the VHL. He has a very interesting style of play, which some say remind them of Tim Thomas. Olynick is posed to prove people wrong this season and become a top pick in the draft.

    Konstantin Azhishchenkov (C.) - 34 TPE

Lastly is a surprise player who came out of no where and has been having a very good start to his rookie campaign. Through 16 games this year he has 14 points which is impressive for any player in the VHLM. The almost point per game pace has been noticed by many people across the league and he is definitely making a case to be a top five pick in this years draft. It will be interesting to see if he can keep this pace up and prove people wrong. Being a Russian born player does scare some teams away, but if he can commit to this league, he will be a amazing player.
