  1. 1. I expect the same as this season has gone. We're officially at 30 wins, so that's a great improvement over last season, and we'll finish -- even if we lost the remaining games -- at our .500 goal we established before the season started. Even though we've officially been eliminated from the playoffs, the NA race was super tight all season long, and we actually hung in there when other GMs state we had no business hanging on. 2. I don't think it was a more balanced offense at all, personally, but I'm under the opinion it was the development of our offense that allowed Toronto to convert on more opportunities as a whole. Instead of having three 20 goal scorers last season, Toronto improved to having potentially six 20 goal scorers. 3. Hextall is the top rookie this year, no questions asked. He's stolen games we should have lost, and risen us to victories where there was none. 4. We have the information available to us on the averages of a championship team, so if we continue to improve towards those averages, we'll be closer to winning a championship and that's the ultimate expectation. 5. As the GM I am exploring every opportunity I have, I expect some improvements but we may regress. 6. As a player, I plan on growing as much as I possibly can in order to help the Legion remain competitive.
  2. Your opinion is that Canada doesn’t have anyone to put the puck in the back of the net, I tell you that Killinger was third for goals and had the most game winners, and you wanted (or rather expected him) to score more on an offence weaker than both of the teams above them? Yeah, I’ll stick with mine, because by your measurements and weighted expectations no team had a player they could rely on to score goals. I’m out before this turns into an argument. I know these are recaps, but sometimes a little more in depth index digging is revealing.
  3. What? That’s just a flawed argument, what does any of that have to do with Canada not having a player who can put the puck in the back of the net?
  4. So Killinger didn't finish third in the round robin for team Canada, or score more game winning goals than anyone else, eh? ?
  5. Oh would you look at that. Another fucking shootout. Fuck off with this shit.
  6. @Viperxhawks19 You have a lot of passion and desire to seek a more active role within the VHL -- this would be an amazing opportunity for you.

  8. 1. As the GM, this season -- so far -- has been beyond expectations. We agreed that .500 hockey was our ultimate goal we wanted to reach by the end of the season, we assumed that we'd be fighting for it right down to the final game. 2. With the trade deadline having just passed, and Toronto's defensive depth lagging well behind other VHL teams, I don't think there is a whole lot we can do to improve. As we earn TPE and apply that into TPA, we'll continue to grow more competitive as the season ends though, and fine tuning the strategies we use could yield some slight improvements to our play as well. 3. I can't speak for anyone else, but I wouldn't say it's impacting the locker room. It's the what if of those overtime and shootout losses that make it kinda exciting to imagine how the Legion will perform next season. If we had won three or four of those shootout losses, we'd be much closer to that final playoff position. 4. *Cough* Yes, how will people describe me. 5. *Intently staring at responses.* 6. McDagg has been doing a great job, honestly, but Killinger's performance has been underwhelming. As a rookie I've been generating plenty of shots -- thus scoring opportunities -- but I find it frustrating that I'm in seventh place in shots on goal, yet my shooting percentage is far behind the 9.5% - 11% average of 21 other goal scoring leaders. If I had a higher shot percentage, I'd be around 27 goals and maybe we win a few more games in OT that went into the SO and we lost. I feel like that's on me.
  9. First of all, I'd like to thank all of the applicants for applying for this position, receiving over a dozen applications through here, PM and Discord DM was surprising! Please don't be discouraged because I didn't select you, I have a very fine particular taste so I can't just let anyone -- INTERNALLY -- call me an idiot when I fuck up, alright? There is an open Las Vegas AGM position available, so head on over there and apply. Proto is looking for his first official AGM after taking the reigns, so everyone here has a great chance at another AGM position. Without further ado, Toronto's newest AGM is @Shaka. Welcome aboard!
  10. I assumed the forum had explored these in the past. Advertisements aren't a big net you cast, they've got to be properly targeted. Unfortunately, the more you spend, the more people see it. If you only spend say $100 on an ad, the targeted audience is very small and it's likely wasted on people who ignore ads (me) or run AdBlock. I'm not saying it's an entirely viable option, just an option.
  11. I'm supposed to be talking about recruitment, or something like that, but really I just leave that up to the recruitment team -- for the most part they've done a pretty good job keeping the league growing just through periodic YouTube advertisements and Reddit campaigns; I've tossed in my ideas around, though, so that means I can do a media spot on different types of recruitment drives I think would work in bringing new members into the Victory Hockey League. Pay for a brief Facebook Ad. Facebook is a pretty decent place to -- guess what -- connect with people who may be interested in joining a simulation hockey league, as long as the advertisement is targeted towards the right people and not just loosely hockey fans. This opens up a ton of potential avenues, but also presents a lot of risks, such as cyber bullying and overcrowding. The benefits are limitless, though, which includes stable growth and exposure for the league. A Facebook Ad might not work with the current league structure, and I can hear Victor already tensing up at the thought, but it might actually work in it's intended purpose. Of course the issue there is what is the right price for potential return. Establish more affiliations. I know the topic of affiliation is a pretty open wound at the moment, but if the recruitment team went out and googled even moderately sized sim leagues to affiliate with -- or even managed to negotiate an affiliation with a larger league -- it would obviously be beneficial for the VHL. We have numerous members that are already split between the VHL/EFL/SBA and SHL, but honestly I have to assume this route has already been explored but I haven't heard, seen or read anything regarding affiliations with other leagues. I used to run a post by post Halo RPG forum, and at it's prime -- before turn based post by post role plays died -- we shared members between dozens of different PBP RPG forums. Pay for a Google Ad. A little more expensive, but casts a wider net, and uses peoples search history and what not to accurately (somewhat) target people who would be interested. This option -- coupled with expansion being a split in the BoG as far as I am aware -- could grow the VHL into a more popular league. Now I'll be the first one to admit I don't have any experience with Google Ads, I don't know their terms of service for advertisements or how it works. I can tell you, however, that paying for an ad is usually worth it if you feel like the potential return is there. Sometimes you have to spend the money in order to grow the community. It's not like the VHL is struggling to field drafts right now, like it was before the portal and honestly my return (I actually joined in 2013. Surprise!), so these paid options probably aren't worth it. Stop the paid YouTube advertisements. Here's the thing about content creators. Sure, they'll advertise your business, and if it's a product might even use it -- but for a sim league, which isn't a product, they don't actually stick around. If they do, it's pretty rare, and they're probably using alternative accounts to hide from subscribers. How many YouTube personalities has the VHL advertised to that are still around? If there are any, I don't know who they are. In theory it seems okay, but when you advertise to EA Sports hockey fans, they come to the website more often than not expecting a NHL 20 hockey league and that's not at all what we are. If you have to advertise with YouTube content creators, you have to target the ones that aren't playing NHL 20, but rather covering the sport... and for the love of god, give them a better script that establishes VHL as... well essentially a post-by-post hockey simulation. That's what it is. Over 500 words. I'm out!

  13. Looking for an AGM here in Toronto. I didn't really need one last season in Toronto for obvious reasons, but I'm looking for an AGM now as (I hope) our window of competition starts to open up a little. An ideal AGM with the Legion is an individual with activity, but that's not your only responsibility! Oh no, not only do you get to tell me I'm an idiot for considering a trade or making a bad decision, but also give me ideas and purpose changes... but mostly to tell me I'm an idiot. I think it goes without saying I'd like someone who would invest time and thought into the Toronto Legion. Apply now!
  14. I'm not sure it would really make a difference, honestly, and I'm not trying to sound rude or snippy. Looking at Moore, you're claiming between 6 and 9 capped TPE a week. Even if the commissioners transferred you into the S73 draft class, you would be overtaken by those who are earning 12 capped a week and attempting to earn the max they can with uncapped opportunities -- even late into a draft class. Hypothetically... let's say Moore only had 78 TPE at the draft, but you were a capped earner leading up to the moment you were selected. Some general managers will take you over another player who we'll say was at 200 TPE but only claiming 2-4 capped TPE a week, even if you were drafted later than that 200 TPE individual. On the draft board for that GM you were way higher, and sometimes a GM will trade up / down to get you where they are comfortable drafting you. Over time you'll ascend the S72 draft class because you're a capped earner, and you'll be one of the proud steals of draft because you kept developing at the highest rate. Don't put too much thought into where your player is now within your draft class, if a GM thinks you'll out perform someone else above you that they're interested in, they'll make the attempt to get you before you're gone.
