Congrats to these deserving members. Quite a few of them, while it's unbelievable still to me, have been along on this successful, destructive dynasty campaign for almost a year I believe (Since S67). They're all good guys who have committed to the Bears, each other and what were all in it together for. Along the way, we've managed to add some fresh, younger faces to the core - some who  have already lifted a cup with us... during their rookie and sophomore campaigns. Super impressive and it's something the "core" can relate to.. winning a cup during rookie (Berocka I do believe) and sophomore campaigns as well. I'm very excited to chase a 4th championship in 5 seasons with this quality group of members and people.  Lets go Bears!

Uhtred ended his rookie campaign in fine fashion as the Bears won the continental cup over the defending champion Moscow Menace.   As a rookie, Uhtred had a limited role in the cup run scoring a goal and 6 assists on route to the championship.  Uhtred has shown a willingness to play any role asked of him in order to win a championship and a trend has emerged where championships come in his first season with a team.  Uhtred won the Founders cup in his first season in the VHLM where he was a role player as he learned how to be a professional hockey player.  In this continental cup Uhtred was again a role player, while learning how o play in the VHL.   If Uhtred makes it to a World Cup roster one day,  as a first timer he will likely have to be a role player again.  Uhtred’s  team will hope the trend of a championship in season one continues.   This trend was somewhat broken with the World Juniors as Uhtred was unable to win a gold in his first chance with team world but he did win gold being a member of team Europe for the first time this season.
 
 The continental cup now gives Uhtred a chance at the triple gold club as he won the Founders cup with the Saskatoon Wild in his first season in the VHLM.   A world cup gold medal is now what separates Uhtred from being a member of this exclusive club.

The Continental cup final matchup was finalized when Moscow defeated Riga to setup a date with the Seattle Bears who defeated the Vancouver Wolves in 5 games.  The series looks like it will be a great one as its the defending champs vs the bears who have no reached the final 3 times in the past 4 seasons.   Both teams feature goaltenders who can win the game on their own.    Bears’s Rayz Funk leads Raymond Bernard in save percentage by a miniscule .004 margin while the both earned 2 shutouts each on route to the final.   That save percentage was even smaller during the regular season with Funk ahead of Bernard by just .001.  The battle in net may play a large role in determining this year's winner.
 
In the skater category both teams have a player tied for the playoff scoring title.  Bears deadline acquisition   Aleksander Rodriguez has been a huge addition to the bear squad as he is currently tied with Mat Tocco for the point lead.  Rodriguez has also been scoring some clutch goals as he leads the playoffs in game winners with 3.    A win by the bears should give Blake Campbell the David Knight Trophy as 3 wins in 4 seasons to go along with the key acquisition of Rodriguez should cement Blake’s status as the best GM this season.  I predict the Bears will win the cup in 7 games.

Uhtred just completed his rookie season and had a very successful rookie campaign with the Seattle Bears.  Uhtred scored 22 goals and had 26 assists this season.   These point totals surpassed the goals Uhtred had set in the pre season.   At the beginning of the season Uhtred wanted to get 10 goals and 40 points and he achieved both targets and doubled his goal scoring target.   He also shot the puck 240 times for just a hair under 3 shots per game which surpasses his 2 shots per game target.  Uhtred will now look to build upon that regular season success as the Bears enter the playoffs.  Uhtred has worked hard trying to increase his strength during the last half of the season in order to try to prepare himself for the physical grind that is the VHL playoffs.  The last week of the season also saw Uhtred score his first career hat trick and that may give him a great confidence boost on the eve of the playoffs.  Uhtred won a gold  medal with Europe this season and if the bears can win the cup it will be the ultimate rookie campaign for Uhtred.   The regular season may be over but there is still a ton of work ahead for Uhtred.
 

I have been in the league for a few years now and I can't exactly remember how I joined the VHL. I think I saw a tweet about the VHL on an EA Sports NHL game thread. I've always loved the be a pro aspect of the game but trying to play a whole career was very time consuming and I'd get bored of my player and the career mode in nhl was lacking compared to other sports games. This lead me to try the VHL out and I don't know what to expect. I wasn't very active in the beginning as I wasn't totally into it but I am glad I stuck with it. As a result of the VHL I have tried some other sin leagues but I feel the VHL is my most enjoyable league. 
 
Here are some of the reasons I love the VHL and can be selling points in the recruitment process. Some of them can apply specifically to certain target audiences. 
 
 
Be a pro sim
I think that this can be a recruitment tool to nhl games. I'm 99% sure thats what brought me into the VHL. In the VHL you really want to see how my player performs and want to win championships, what's the point in playing a sports sim or game of you don't want to win. Although some players may just want to put up numbers and disregard winning. Either way the VHL can try and attract the be a pro type player to create a player and see how he grows. You don't have to be write every week to have a decent career. You can still have a fun career without doing a point task every week if you hate writing or suck at graphics. With my first player I wasn't as active as my current player but he was still able to be a decent player. Playing on an expansion team also helped as that gave him more ice time but I'd be happy as a role player. My advice to new players is that make sure you claim welfare and participate in the then we weeks. That's usually when I write an article as 500 words can be tough but the extra reward is worth it in my eyes 
 
 
The Portal 
I think of the strengths of the league is how great the portal is. I am in the PBE and posting the TPE on a forum thread can be confusing for beginners. It's much easier to make a mistake when you have to type everything manually into the thread and then wait for the weekly updates to happen. I love how in the VHL your player can be updated as soon as your TPE is approved. The portal also makes it much easier to track your players performance over the course of the season. In the PBE it just seems like it takes longer to find things. I am still new there so maybe I just don't know what I am doing yet. 
 
Discord 
Although I'm not that active on discord there is a great community on there. It's also a great way to learn about the league. The best part of the VHL is how every team has a discord channel and that really makes it feel like you're part of a tesm. This is what makes the VHL better than nhl be a pro, there is a great social aspect to having a career. 
 
 
 

Uhtred saved his best game for the gold medal game scoring a goal to go along with three Assists in Europe's gold medal game.   It was by far the best game for Uhtred as he only had a total of 9 points in the round robin.  Team Europe totally dominated Asia winning the game 7-3 and outshooting Asia 62-42.   The Medal winning goal was scored by Bob Helminen 5:54 into the second period.  The eventual game winning goal came in somewhat controversial fashion as it went to video review.  Upon further review it was determined that the puck clearly crossed the line and that made it 4-2 for the europeans.    Asia scored to make it a one goal game early in the third period giving team Asia hopes of a comeback.   However goals by Jim Bob and Uhtred just 26 seconds apart  shut down any attempts at a comeback by Asia.   With 9:03 left Derek Eriksson put the final nail in the coffin on the powerplay to make it 7-3.  With such a big lead European fans were able to start the party early and will be party late into the night
 
This was Uhtred's second world junior and it was his last shot at a title.  With the win Uhtred now has a shot at the triple gold club having won the founders cup with Saskatchewan in his VHLM draft year.  The bears are currently 3 points out of first with a game in hand which makes the Bears a strong contender for the continental cup this season.

The Seattle Bears have been playing a lot better lately after a slow start to the season.  The Bears winning streak was halted at 6 games and has seen the team rise in the standings after coming out of the gate slowly.  The power of the bears attack is in the middle with star players Ambrose Stark and Scott Greene.   The pair sit second in league scoring with 27 points a piece which is just 1 point shy of the lead. Greene is the leading goal scorer right now with 16 goals in 22 games so far this season.  Fellow Bear Hulk Hogan is just a point shy of his teammates giving the bears 3 of the top 10 scorers to start the season. The Bears have a great group of veteran and youth players this season.  This is evident in the fact that the leading rookie scorer is Ola Vikingstad who was drafted 5th overall. Vikingstad like the Bears as a team has caught fire lately posting up a majority of his points line the last 10 games.  Uhtred is a 9th overall pick and is another Bear rookie among the leading rookie scorers. He has put up 15 points in the 22 games played this season and ranks 3rd among rookies while being three points off his leading teammate.

8). I'll go with jet jaguar.  He had an excellent season last season and he will build on that success. 
 
21). He will play great as we will have a great season. 
 
31). Jet Jaguar.  That guys is just amazing and is one of the reasons why Moscow was successful last season. 
 
32) I'd go with a lion.  Was amazing to see them on a safari is south Africa,  just wish we saw a full grown male,  only saw females and a couple teenagers with a snake mane. 
 
 
34) I just joined PBE.  Seems like a fun league.  I used to play ottp baseball so I find it interesting they use it. 
 
35). I just love seeing how my player does and want to win my first cup with this player.  I love checking to see how my team and player did every day. 

1)   As I didn't have a team in the VHL last season I was happy to see Moscow win as my previous player spent a majority of his career there so was happy for the guys. 
6). I think we did well in the draft.   Vikingstad is a great player who will be a key player one day.  Hopefully my player will be able to live up to the 9th overall selection. 
11). My goal is to improve my skating and puck handling ability and help the team win anyway I can.  I hope to have a good rookie season. 
19). I will go with boom as I answered he was a great pick earlier.
24). People need to take this more seriously.  If people stay home we can return to normal faster.   Working from home is weird but glad I can do it.   I would have been in Disneyworld right now if everything is normal.  Love to travel probably won't for a long time now

Over the seasons, we've been on quite the ride together and I couldn't think of a better, more trusted few in Seattle to lead the team on the ice, in the LR and on the forums. We always have an exceptional Locker Room experience and currently, once again, have an amazing team in front of us with a healthy mix of top end talent and youth. I'm extremely excited about being drafted by the bears and can't wait until the season begins next week.  We have some great players on this team and I can't wait to hit the ice with them. I've been working hard on my skating ability  this offseason as I know I will need to be a better skater to be able to keep up on the VHL. I know there will be a big difference in the speed of the game at this level and I'm just tyring to prepare for that.   I had a great season last year in the VHLM and that should give me a confidence boost for my rookie season. I just want to help my new team win some games with whatever role they want me to play.
