  1. Dimitri Volosenkov had a hot start to his rookie VHL season, recording 5G and 2A for 7 points in his first 4 games played. This kind of performance had certain people speculating that he may be the top rookie of the year if he continued that level of production. Having played 4 more games since that mark and recording no points or really doing anything at all in the games he's played. It's safe to say that the last few games have not lived up to his expectations either. Being drafted 5th Overall this past draft, Moscow was looking for a solid Top 6 winger in Volosenkov and he had some great strides in the first few games.

    We talked to the coach to see what he had to say about it.

    "Dimitri hasn't really been himself the last week, he's been showing up to practice when he feels like it, not showing very good work ethic, just overall not the same person he was when he first got here. I don't know what changed but pretty soon he's going to get demoted to 2nd or 3rd line."

    When the coach mentioned "not the same person" we took note of that. Volosenkov is known to always be a hard worker, and tries to be a team leader. Lately he hasn't been like that at all and when we asked him for an interview he refused. Is it possible that Riga or HHH felt threatened and replaced Volosenkov with a double. Is this some new tactic that Riga and/or HHH are pulling off to ensure their star rookie wins Rookie Of The Year? Or are they just trying to sabotage a division rival?

    We'll have to wait and see how this plays out. We're onto you @hedgehog337 and @Beaviss

  2. Just putting it out there that many hands makes light work. Plus, with the amount of growth the league has been seeing I imagine updates may get a bit overwhelmed at times.

  3. 1. With a new season comes hope! What are your expectations for the 66th season of the VHL.

    I hope to just be able to produce some points and try to get to at least 10 wins this season. It's not looking good so far but given time we'll find success

    2. What is a personal goal you'd like to achieve this year?

    Hopefully put up a good fight for Rookie Of The Year, i've had a good start so we'll see how that develops through the season.

    3. What is a team goal you'd like to see the boys accomplish?

    Hitting 10 wins would be a good step in the right direction to getting this team a championship. We have a good group here we just have to find our game and get a W.

    4. Share an experience you've had with the folks from Moscow, what are some similarities and differences?

    Dimitri is a bit of a local here so he's fit right in. Being from St. Petersburg and spending time training in Moscow in the past makes it way easier to adjust to VHL life.

    5. If you're new to the team, what excited you the most when you were drafted/traded or signed to Moscow? If you're not new, is there someone who's new to the squad you're interested in playing with?

    To be able to play here in Russia for my hometown team is something special. It's nice to be a part of this environment and to help build this team to greatness. I hope to be a part of this organization for a long time but we'll see how it works out.

    6. If you could pick a goal song for the Menace, what would it be and why?

    Zombie Nation would be my first choice. I'm a big Bruins fan IRL and I think it's a great hype Goal song.

  4. The Halifax 21st since joining the VHLM have had a decent amount of success making it to the finals every season thus far. With such great talent, it's no surprise that translates into VHL success as well. Season 66 has seen 4 top Halifax players from last season make their debut into the VHL and so far they are all performing excellent so far.

    To start off we have;

    Teagan Glover @Bucky___lastard.

    Glover is a 23 year old Center, selected 19th overall in the S65 VHL Entry Draft currently playing for the Malmo Nighthawks after being taken from Riga in the expansion draft. He mans their 2nd and 4th Line Center role, as well as appearing on the second powerplay and penalty kill unit. Whatever Glover is doing is working as he has 1G and 6A for 7 points in 7GP. Glover is making sure his team values him as an asset on this young developing roster full of potential. We'll have to wait and see if this level of production continues.

    Next up is,

    Basaraba Moose @Toasty

    Moose is an absolute beast of a defenceman. He stands at 6'3 and weighs in at 203Lbs. Drafted by Riga in S64 at 28th overall he spent a couple seasons in the VHLM developing his game further before making his debut this season. Malmo saw promise in this upcoming D-Man and traded for him in exchange for S67 MAL 3rd, S68 MAL 2nd, and S68 MAL 4th. Moose has played 5 games this season and has recorded 1G and 4A for 5 points. He's not normally known for his offensive side but more of his defensive aspects having 16 hits and 18 blocked shots in only 5 games. Solid two-way play coming from Moose right now, hopefully this trend continues and he can become the face of their Defensive core.

    The last person we're covering today is such a great guy as well as a solid hockey player. I have the pleasure to have played with him and call him a friend;

    Julius (Jules) Freeman @rjfryman

    Jules is a 6'3, 210LB LW playing for Vancouver after being drafted 2nd overall in the S66 VHL Entry Draft. This guy has the talent to be selected 1st but was swindled out of it because of the likes of HHH being such an insane player. Immediately after being drafted Jules has been put on first line alongside Beau Louth and Jake Davis. He's proving his worth by putting up 3G and 3A for 6 points in 8 games played. He's not the most physical player, only recording 1 hit but opponents don't score much while he's on the ice with a +5 rating. I have a good feeling that Freeman will be one of Vancouver's top forwards for a long time coming.

    Best of luck to all the Halifax players in their VHL careers. We're some short term success so far in their rookie seasons, we'll have to wait and see if they can keep up their good start and maybe even become VHL Superstars someday.

  5. If you’re looking for another updater let me know. I’ve been looking for something more than just writing weekly media spots to earn TPE. Also want to help out the league instead of just pumping out content.

  6. Just now, Beketov said:

    This is pretty old. Reviewing has been an open gig for awhile now, anyone can add reviews.

    I guess I was thinking of updaters not reviewers. Not sure if you need more updaters or not though.
