  1. I've been without an AGM for a full season now and I've been feeling lonely, so I got a former VHL GM to help me break the bad stint we are in, a GM who very recently stepped down from his role. He was a Continental Cup winning GM too, so whatever success we have now that he's on the leadership team, we can attribute to him and not me. That's good, because when I'm the brains of the team, we don't achieve much, so I'm very excited for @hylands to be joining me for the forseeable future. Short captain announcement because we have a lot on our plate today and I'm only planning to claim this as a VHL.com article anyway, I don't need the words. Our captains for the ongoing season are CAPTAIN - That Dude @Cornholio Following the retirement of both The Terrible Trivium and Alec Volchenkov, That Dude is now the longest tenured Londonese hockey player. We're lucky to have him as he's equally a great locker room presence and an insane hockey player. He literally just beat the franchise record for most points in a single season, and he's signed through the end of his career, so we hope he got more seasons like this past one coming up. ALTERNATE CAPTAIN - Tater Tot @Trunkxolotl Hey, I know it's illegal to name goalies as captains or alternate captains, but we do it all the time and I love it. Plus, Tater Tot deserves the recognition, since we've been leaving him pretty much alone to take care of the whole defensive aspect of the game all season so far. Two 70+ save games in a week and you get an A. ALTERNATE CAPTAIN - Logain Ablar @Kelsier And the second alternate this season will be rookie-skater Logain Ablar. I don't think I have given a leadership role to any rookie since our first season, but this is the state of the team right now, a couple of veterans and a bunch of kids, and I have a feeling that this one kid in particular is going to do great things for us, which makes him an easy choice here. While we are here, I've been sleeping on this for a few seasons now, and I realized I absolutely forgot to post who our captains were for two straight seasons. So here they are. Season 79 Captain: The Terrible Trivium @der meister Alternate Captain: That Dude @Cornholio Alternate Captain: Sven Reikkinen @Devise Season 80 Captain: The Terrible Trivium @der meister Alternate Captain: That Dude @Cornholio Alternate Captain: Sven Reikkinen @Devise This makes Trivium the fourth captain in franchise history, following in the footsteps of James Rose, Kasper Kankkunen and Julian Nousiainen before him. And now, the most historic announcement of the bunch, which follows nicely the one right before. We are retiring our first jersey number. I know the team hasn't been all that good for throughout that first generation of players, losing more games than they won, and failing to win even a single playoff series. That being said, we had some moderate success in the regular season for a couple seasons down the middle of these past eight seasons, including two straight seasons where we fought for the lead in the European Conference until the very last couple of games and eventually finished second. All that to say, despite our overall lack of success, one player has stuck with us his entire career, from the moment he was drafted in the second round of our inaugural season, up to this past offseason when he was forced by archaic rules to hang the skates. He left his mark on the team, as he retires as the franchise all-time leader in goals with 290 and points with 619, two numbers that will be tough to pass for the upcoming generation of Londonese superstars. Tonight, we are honoring none other than our retroactively named captain from these past two seasons: The Terrible Trivium. Except for his suspect 6th season where he was stopped at 26 goals, Trivium managed to break the 30-goal mark every season, even pushing his score to north of 40 on three different occasions. His point totals were a bit more all over the place, but he still managed to put his name on the scoresheet over 90 times in three different seasons, proving that he was efficient as both a goal scorer and a playmaker throughout his eight season career. His trophy cabinet might be empty, but this sadly says more about the team and its success in the past decade than it says about both Trivium as a player and der meister as a member. Congratulations, @der meister, thanks for giving us a chance and sticking around with us forever. Sorry we couldn't make anything happen while you were here, but we'll add your name on the Continental Cup whenever we make it up there, as the Vice President of Hockey Operations, or whatever made up title they give alumni nowadays.
  2. I'm tempted to skip the job pay to try it this week.
  3. G Papa Emeritus @Underclass_Hero otc
  4. F Taro Tsujimoto @BarzalGoat you have 12 hours to pick, there is no rush
  5. You have come to the right place
  6. do you get notifications whenever someone says "threepeat" ?
  7. We cut two teams, so on average, every team is going to have a couple more players than this past season. But yes, our roster size - and roster disparity - situation will always heavily rely on recent recruitment drives. No set of rule can change that. The only real thing I can think of quickly that would kill the disparity altogether is making an actual waiver system, where teams choose players in a given order, but it takes away from the user experience by forcing them onto a team from the moment they create. I can tell you right now, we're never switching (back) to that.
  8. Hello, McWolf here with what appears to be a new tradition; rule changes happening every single offseason. 1 - The state of the VHLM after the contraction to 10 teams. The fact that two of our teams, the Minnesota Storm and the Yukon Rush, were promoted to the VHLE is interested for the community in general, but from the point of view of the VHLM individually, we are actually contracting from 12 to 10 teams. The conference alignment remains unchanged, since Minnesota was in the Eastern Conference and Yukon was in the Western Conference, so both divisions are losing a team and they are still the same size. The playoffs format won't change, we still have the 8 best teams making it to the show, with the best team from every conference earning a top 2 seed. The bigger change for us is that we go from 4 to 2 teams missing the playoffs every season. Only 2 teams missing meant only 2 teams in the lottery and that felt lame. d_a and I both failed to see the value of the lottery as a whole for the VHLM when there were 4 teams in it, but kept it around anyway, but with this contraction, it just feels like the right time to sack it. This means that the S81 VHLM Draft Lottery was the last one until someone takes my place and makes it a thing again, probably. Talking of which, the lottery happened on Discord, in a live stream in front of most VHLM GMs. The results were as follows: Contractions are usually followed by dispersal drafts or things like that, but in our case, Minnesota and Yukon had so few assets returning next season that we elected to simply make all of their current players free agents starting tonight, and we'll skip their picks during the draft this Saturday. This affects all of @Lbrod1 @Ekky @Will @Thunderidge @Jellydiot @Infernal, who should all get a notification saying they were released at some point tonight. GMs are free to start offering when free agency opens. 2 - Revised double shifting Last season, we made a new rule that prevented double shifting, which made sense to me and d_a at the time, but ended up giving way too much ice time to bots during the whole season. We are revising this rule and making it so teams can't double shift players among their top three lines and pairs - like last season - but only during the playoffs. This means that teams with less players can play them on each of their lines and use that to their advantage in waiver negotiations. However, teams with more players will still be at an advantage when the playoffs start, so we're still encouraging GMs to get as many players as they can, instead of relying on the good old 6 forwards, 4 defensemen core. 11. The massive annoucements from earlier today from our friends in the VHL and VHLE had some repercussions on the VHLM. Two of our teams are getting promoted - or more like, they are folding and some teams sharing their names are debuting in Europe - to solve some roster issues. Two of our GMs are moving up with them: @Laine is following the Storm back to Oslo and @Brewins15 is taking over the Rush in their move to Geneva, Vienna, or some other mountain . Then, the VHL announced they were replacing literally 25% of their managers, taking @Domg5 to take over Malmo. I wanted to take the time to thank these three GMs for all the time and efforts they put to make these new members at home in our community. The efforts didn't go unnoticed, we were blessed to have all of you in our ranks. Good luck in the VHL and VHLE to all of you! So, this whole personnel shift makes it so, at the end of the day, the Halifax 21st are now without a GM, which is mainly why I'm writing this today. If you are interested in that job, please apply directly in this thread. - On another note, @JigglyGumballs has informed us earlier in the season that he planned on stepping from his role as the Las Vegas Aces GM at the end of the season. Thanks for your service in the VHLM, thanks for helping our new member base for such a long time. I might be mistaken, but I believe you were currently the longest-tenured GM. I have no idea who holds that title now, the turnaround has been insane recently. This opening has been known to us for a while, so we already have someone lined up for it - someone who barely missed the cut in the previous process, but has been relentlessly active on both the forums and Discord. Jiggly's replacement is: Congrats and good luck in Las Vegas!
  12. Four great hires. Can't wait to work with you all Long time coming for you, @Acydburn. Congrats
