1. Blake Campbell was the hardest. I don't overly regret it as I would have been on shit teams as the influx of goalies was already crazy. GM's wanted young guys, not ones closer to their "time". His was the worst though. Federov will be my first player ever to reach his actual "retirement" date ?
2. Tough question. I know Seattle was in the mix, but I don't actual'y think it would happen. If and when it ever became a potential reality, I would nix it prior and offer to relocate etc wish I know would help. I love the Helsinki name, logo etc but I would say them, Quebec, Riga or Calgary. More leaning towards Riga.
3. Another great question. I love both leagues and I love GMing Seattle. I'm very fortunate to have been able to and to finally win cup too. I don't know how long I have left as a GM, but I feel as though I'd regret stepping down if it was done now so my time clearly hasn't come. Could be in a season, could be in 5. I know I want 500 wins in my career and to hold some form of Bear records. First cup in like 16 seasons is nice and it's one of very few. I love contributing to the site as a GM. It's my way of helping members out and boosting activity. I feel as though I thrive in the role.
I'm currently the Assistant, or Co GM of the Oslo Storm and am helping the younger guys out. I like to stay active with new members and shit. I feel as though a break may be needed for a season, but I'd find myself back into the VHLM or VHL sooner rather than later. Though, I feel out of shape in the VHLM talking with GM's. It's been almost 20 seasons since I was in it. CRAZY.
4. I'm gonna say yes. It's time to give the guys a great succeeding home. They deserve it. It's the best move for Seattle. We've had great success and up until later in this year, the group of guys were extremely involved, active and loving it. It'll be tough to move them, especially a couple of them.
5. Shit. That would require me to have to go back into the vault and take a look. Just going off the top of my head, the deal that brought in Parechkin @DollarAndADream really helped out the team. Last year, the way we juggled the cap, made some moves and still won the cup was good too. Another memorable deal for me was bringing in Jakub Holik @Beketov. He's likely still one of my most favourite goalies to play in this league. More recently, bringing in Johnsson @Quik was something that boosted us big time. I think it was a move that boosted us quite a bit. We may not agree 100% of the time, but Seattle has benefitted in more than one ways from having a member like Quik on the team.
IMO, I think some of my better trades could be coming this off-season. Time will tell
