It feels like just yesterday I was boarding a plane, touching down and experiencing beautiful Circular Quay for the first time and just beginning my Australian experience. Next thing I knew, I blinked and I'm here. Back to Canada. Colder days, certainly windier days mostly (seems it anyway because of the wind despite it also being insane in Perth) and NO snow on the ground yet on November the 27th. It's honestly bull shit and while most of the general public are in love with it - don't get me wrong, the 'balmy' weather and no snow is certainly not bad, but think of the repercussions we'll likely have because of it. Another entire summer filled with people bitching about the smoke filled skies because we can't care a little morer about our planet. I'd like to take this time to say fuck people who throw cigarettes out the window, too. I was once one of them. I no longer am one of them. I didn't do it towards the end of my smoking, but fuck me too for doing it when i did it. Now, over to the VHL. Theme week has come and gone. I think it was a boring theme week. If the commissioners really struggle that bad because they're all 30+, with careers, kids, cats and wives, take a look at the press conference section. Us GM's ask some neat, creative questions from time to time. Mine might not always be amazing, but I try to make them fun, silly and all of that. TDL is also here and nobody has the cap, the rosters or the interest in trading. Where did the days go when it actually used to be strategically fun to enter TDL? It's literal shite now and it doesn't help that the quality of management has also dipped with the quality of TDL's. Shots fired. We'll leave it on that. LETS BLAB! Theme week blurb. "The VHL has commissioned a team of scientists to create a brand new sim engine. They've team with some of the world's biggest AI and technology companies like Google, Microsoft, META, Amazon and MORE! What are some of the advancements that have been rumoured? What programs are they intending on using? What's the name? What's the details? " OR "The VHL has decided to go where no league has gone before... SPACE! Create a team in the dark, dark outer space galaxy. Who did you chose? What are their names? What is their logo of etc? EX, Mars Martians, Saturn Comets, Pluto Ice Pucks or whatever" ....... Like is it really that hard to create fun theme weeks where it actually would be fun to engage and read other peoples stuff (or look at graphics) for once? The Seattle locker room is quiet. Not going to lie! It's the quietest it's been in 30 seasons easily. I'm not a fan of it but understand we have members who are doctors, parents, students, have careers and just busy lives. I also understand that we're a rebuilding club and this isn't something I'm used to. It's tough. It makes me feel like I'm failing a bit as a GM and that I'm not bringing the best experience for them. I'm excited for a couple of our members to make the jump to the VHL next season. That COULd likely help. Also doesn't help that some members are IA, or very, very into Welfare at the moment. Time to go to the think tank, adapt/learn and evolve as a manager too! Christmas Charity suggestions have begun and it doesn't matter too much to me who we donate towards. Help is helping and all those in need deserve help in some form or other. If it's kids, great. If it's people affected by the horrible, unnecessary wars, great. If it's the bushfires in Australia, great. What's incredible is the cause, for sure, but what's even greater is that every single year this event brings the entire league together. No drama, no bull shit, just holly, merry, fun and togetherness. Also a friendly reminder that yours truly thought of the initial idea behind all of this way back when before the first ever. Maybe @Berocka is nice and I am the nicest asshole ever?

Come join the fun! That's what the VHL is all about :) Hey everyone! Might as well do one of these two and finally cap for the first time in a while. Been super busy. Drive an hour and 15-20 to work, work 8-10 hours, then do the same drive back home. It's been okay but it certainly has it's days or drives. We will be looking to eventually move and I'm mostly okay with that too. Been in this current rental for about 7 years now though I think. Maybe closer to 8. It's REALLY home so it's going to be REALLY missed... but I'm sure as always, the new place will eventually become this too. For the league, slowly crawling along. It's been rough winning all these seasons and now taking a season or so off! Trade deadline is approaching and I imagine it'll be fairly quiet. Theme week also happened, so had a little fun with that! Didn't read any though. Seattle is struggling but it honestly was expected. I think there's going to be some big changes coming during the off-season and I'm excited for those. Need to restructure things to bring some life back to the team. A playoff spot is also reachable still at the moment. Don't see it happening, but could be fun to play spoiler for some teams. 38 points in 50 games for my player, Severus Targaryen. I have big expectations for them moving forward into next season. We'll be transitioning slowly and I'll be an important piece for the team! I'm pretty excited for our youth to make the climb up next season! Hoping to make some noise with them and hopefully surround them with some nice talent!

Here I sit and wonder, do I do another week of welfare because I'm too tired from the daily grind to write, or do I in fact write something to get the theme week TPE? Well, here we are. Sitting on the toilet after a bottle of Disaronno and a great date night with my partner writing about the VHL and recruitment. I surprised her with some roses, a bottle of wine and an uplifted mood despite the hour and 20 commute home from my final day of work before getting two days away from the 'fun'. Now I'm here to surprise the VHL, the commissioners and all of it's glorious members on ideas for recruitment that are so crazy, they may have massive effect on the leagues member gains. Not a lot of thought has gone into this and the league was unwilling to lend me $50,000 for 25% of my recruitment research company. However, I pulled off the unthinkable and managed to do the research assignment for free, with hidden fees of course that I will take to small claims court with the VHL. Idea #1: Send a machine like Wall-E to the moon to engrave "vhlforum.com" into the face of the Moon. Think face tattoo on Mike Tyson, but we're putting one on the face of the moon. People are going to see it when the moon is big, bright and up close (I think it should be a full moon here tonight or soon!). Not a bad time for the VHL to invest in this project, AI and robotics. It is, afterall, where the world is heading. Think about it this way. Everyone looks at the moon. Everyone has access to the moon (okay, not everyone - blind people etc). We're going to get loads and loads of opportunity here to get the league's name out. Projected numbers: 571,373 potential recruits Downside: Likely to attract an estimated 11,253 call center scammers into our community. Fortunately, it's "John with Microsoft" and is just calling from Sudan with a thicc accent. Idea #2: Advertise on late night TV, because it's cheap and @BOOM and @Berocka need some friends It's the time of day when all those incredible advertisements come out that are so shit, they're awesome. FOR JUST $9.99, you can get NOT one, NOT two, but SEVEN magnetic, glow in the dark chopsticks if you call the number on the bottom of the screen in the next 273 seconds. All we got to do is place an advertisement on there (NOT YOUTUBE) at the right time, with a credible member like @Dr Billy Bob who apparently achieved his doctorate at the school of hard knocks and life. The man has mad street cred and is surely able to bring in some magical recruitment success. Projected numbers: 1,932 potential recruits Downside: Likely to attract some creepy old men but would help diversify the membership throughout the league. Idea #3: Advertise on Condoms Similar to the moon, lots use them and lots who don't PROBABLY should. It's the perfect opportunity. They're everywhere too! Walmart, K-Mart and even your local highway burger shop bathrooms in those little machines. What's better is you can probably put some crafty little sayings on them to really attract the attention of potential future members. "vhlforum.com, so fucking good", "the only thing that's going to hug you tighter is the vhlforum.com", OR "pulling out so you can log in, vhlforum.com". You got any other ideas? Come join the fun! That's what the VHL is all about :) Hello, hello, HELLO! Happy Sunday. Hope those who are reading this are doing well and those who do not had to go to church today. Nothing wrong with that, but I can think of 2864672 better ways to spend a Sunday morning, afternoon, evening, night or any moment of time I haven't written one of these, or really anything, since the week ending in October 29th. This makes the most sense because I think that was the week, or the week after, where I started my new job since returning home. Lots has happened since then and I've been super busy. When in Australia, I applied for a bunch of railroad opportunities and had gotten an interview with all of them. Through the process, I interviewed with 3 companies and ended up getting an offer for each of them. It was a tough choice, but I made it! This choice has me driving, at the moment, an hour and 20 minutes each way for work. It's kind of a pain in the ass but doesn't bother me too much yet when you think on the daily. In the grand of it all, 15 hours a week minimum are lost to driving. That's quite a lot of quality of life taken out, but that's okay for now. It also opens the door to moving somewhere new, which is exciting. Work has been great, the guys have been good and the company offers a lot of growth at the time. Flip over to the VHL, things have been slightly stale for me. The league is well on it's way now through the season and I certainly have some things to talk about. LETS BLAB! @ROOKIE745 @zepheter @ShawnGlade @Berocka @Banackock and @Renomitsu are all coming along nicely for the Seattle rebuild/retool/redo/recycle and all of the reeeeees. We have a nice group of youth that is going to push this group forward fairly quickly. @Berocka is absolutely lighting things up at the moment in the VHLE, with 4 points in their last 36 games. @ShawnGlade, while with a losing record, is playing pretty nicely in Oslo with a 10-15-4 record, but sporting an attractive .935SV%. @Renomitsu is annihilating it right now for Stockholm, 54 points in 36 GP. Safe to say they're going to be ready next season when it comes to graduating to be a Bear! @zepheter has fit in nicely with Seattle, playing a lot stronger than I expected and playing the up and coming, depth role very nicely. @ROOKIE745 is now just shy of 400 TPE, a slower rookie season, but things are surely to heat up for them as their career and earning goes on! Seattle has had a rough little stretch lately but thats okay. We're rebuilding and it's expected. We're good with either way, but do not have our firsts, so playoffs at the least would be nice. The market is starting to open up a little bit. DC claimed in the off-season they didn't need a strong goalie to win, and now sit behind teams like Seattle in the standings. I don't think this will last forever. They DO have a good team, but I bet they'd be stronger with better options in goal. 2.88 GAA is not going to win you championships, or at the very least, not easily. My player is chugging along nicely. It's nice to see because it seems like they almost I always struggle to be elite now. The fact that Targaryen has 29 points through 37 games is a plus imo. A lot of better, more elite players, have done a lot worse. Excited for the future of this team and of this career.
