  1. feel like it's a little harsh for calgary, 3 games could definitely just be a simple mistake + not like it really impacted anything. extra bot games worth 6 points each and they're 8+ points between everyone else in standings.

warsaw makes sense, double amount of backup games is pretty excessive, but still think it only impacts NYA really. should just swap their odds and take off like 5-10% maybe. i don't mind the severe punishment to set precedent though so don't have to deal with this in the future

    1. How would you rate DC Dragons season at this point?
    2. When it comes to your own player and the production you are seeing - are you satisfied with everything?

    3. GM Frostbeard was recently seen leaving a bar in Bratislava heavily intoxicated and singing Latvian song 'Ai, jel manu vieglu prātu' - some have called this disgraceful, do you think a GM should worry more about their public appearance?
    4. Ryuji Sakamoto has been one of the best defencemen this season, do you think having a strong veteran presence like that is important for this team?
    5. With our team heading into playoffs after a long rebuilding run, do you think this team is ready for a deep playoff push?
    6. Adolfsen and Futch were both interviewed by "Hockey Enthusiast Network" and have been quoted saying that they feel like their role has been diminishing on this team season by season, do you agree with that statement??

    1. Exceeded my expectations for sure. 10/10
    2. Eh, I was hoping to have some more points after being traded to a contender, but everything kind of fell off. It's only the M though so I'm not too mad.
    3. Nah, Frost do Frost. Gives humanity to the team
    4. For sure, having someone who can lead on the blueline definitely reassures the rookies that if they make a mistake it'll be fine
    5. If the regular season says anything, I would expect us to make conference finals at least. It'll be close with Toronto.
    6. I mean that's kind of just a thing as they age. They'll be replaced with better younger talent. That's not to say they aren't key pieces of the team though

D.C. Dragons are on the way to playoffs!

    Answer 3 for 1 TPE, Answer 6 for 2

    1. In a recent interview, GM Frostbeard openly said that "Dragons have a wonderful LR chemistry that is tough to beat" - do you agree with that statement?
    2. Jason and VLG are both very high up scoring lists and have proven to be our top 2 offensive juggernauts - do you feel that will be enough to do good in playoffs??
    3. City of Washington recently released a statement saying that their favourite sports franchises are Wizards and Capitals. How important it is for Dragons to make it into that Top 2?
    4. Backup goaltender Geoff Bezos has been stellar this season, do you feel that if things go sour, we need to give him few more starts?
    5. Ben Laas and Justin Adolfsen have both already appeared in Viking Brandy commercials and the brand says their sales went up 23% after those commercials aired - do you feel that more of our players should go and start working with Dragons main sponsor?
    6. Mark Calaway and Ryuji Sakamoto have both been incredibly influencial for our squad this season, do you feel their presence in the LR and do you think that resigning both Calaway and Sakamoto is important for our franchise?

    1. I would agree, I think we have an LR full of great people
    2. Probably not, playoffs definitely have less offense and teams will be figuring out how to shut them down. Need our secondary scorers to step up.
    3. I don't think it matters, the Dragons are definitely playing for the European market.
    4. It's definitely an option, but more of a last resort.
    5. Probably not, Lass and Adolfsen are just really sexy, if we put Geoff Bezos in there no way he's selling anything.
    6. Calaway is certainly the future of the franchise, so re-signing him was GM Frostbeard's most important duty this season.

You ONLY have to answer 6 of the 8 Questions
    WEEK OF September 4th - September 10th

1: Which NHL team do you cheer for?

2: What is your favorite real life non-NHL team? (don't know if I asked this yet)

3: If the VHL hosted a 3's tournament in the offseason, which two players (+ goalie) would you choose to play alongside your player?

4: Have you ever been part of a real life tournament for any sport, videogame or anything? If so, how'd it go?

5: What does your player fill his water bottle with?

6: If you were an NHL scout, which attribute would you look for in a player?

7: CM Punk was fired from AEW. Do you care? XD

8: If you could eat one food from any media (Show, Movie, Book). Which food would you choose and why?

    1. The Canucks
    2. I like the Ravens in the NFL but don't really follow them
    4. Yeah I've played at video game LAN tournaments in Halifax and Moncton. We got half shit on but it was really fun
    5. "Water"
    6. Honestly I think the main thing I'd look for is how they act off the ice. Building a good LR culture (and not getting in social media scandals) is underrated
    7. Is this wrestling? I don't follow it so yeah don't really care.

I’ll cut to the chase, but I think the most TPE optimal way to get to 95 DF is:

    90 DK
    75 BC
    95 PC
    94 DC

    For a mere 587TPE! That’s barely a VHL player!

    I got 95 DF in 585 TPE

    90 DK
    75 BC
    98 PC
    90 DC

I think this is the most efficient you can do? I essentially just upgraded whichever attribute would give the most DF/TPE

    Answer 3 for 1 TPE, Answer 6 for 2

    1. In an interview GM Frostbeard has openly said that he sees Calaway and Sakamoto as the best Defensive Duo in VHL. Your thoughts on that comment?
    2. Jason has recently got into trouble after he was carried out of a nightclub by assistant GM Ivo Willems, some local news outlets have called it a 'disgrace to the sport of Hockey' - what do you think about this situation?
    3. After long deliberations Viking Brandy brand has signed a 5 season sponsorship deal with D.C. Dragons. Few local breweries and alcoholic bewerage brands are calling this a 'traitorous move'. Do you believe our team should sign Latvian/Danish owned alcohol brand or should we focus on something more local?
    4. It has been reported that D.C. Dragons have widely been rated as the potential 5th Seed in NA, making playoffs. Do you think it is a low/high rating for our team?
    5. In a recent interview Keita Kourou was called a "untallented and weak player" by anonymous player of Calgary Wranglers roster. What is your reponse to that claim?
    6. Lucas Grey recently returned to our roster and attended the end of the Training camp after spending some time away with their family. His response to question 'If he is ready to play after not working on his hockey game all of the off-season' he responded by saying 'I am not only ready, I am better that ever!' Do you think having a confidence like that can inspire the whole LR to play and perform better?

    1. Both are definitely threats, but I'm not sure if I'd call them the best defensive duo in the league. I think Vancouver has a really strong d-core that probably holds that title
    2. Classic Jason tbh
    3. I definitely think the team should be promoting local. Seems like a bit of corruption going on considering the team's management is latvian/danish
    4. I think it sounds about right, the bottom of NA is really weak, so I can totally see us in 5th
    5. I mean they stayed anonymous, they should stand by their words instead of hiding
    6. Definitely, it's good for the team to have that role model and example being set

I really like this at first glance but then it brings in the thing that people think progressive taxation is--why have a 96 in something when you can have a 95? I think you have a good idea but it would also have the unintended consequence of builds changing in very specific ways to better fit depreciation.

I mean ideally it'd be properly designed to avoid this. like even in my example if you have 96 dk and in 2nd season of regression you'd go down to 93. if you have 95 you'd go down to 93. either way it's the same result after regression and you get to play the season with 1 higher dk. if there does end up opportunity for regression planning with this and keeping attributes lower that's fine to me as well, since it involves actively thinking about a build, and already happens with salary cap brackets.

  8. people already can't understand progressive taxation and this seems even more confusing.

would it just be better to depreciate a fixed value of each attribute depending on the bracket it's in? ex. if dk is above 95, you lose 2/3/4 depending on season. if it's 90<dk<95 you lose like 1/2/3 depending on season. if it's below 90 you lose like 0/1/2 depending on season. Obviously these numbers don't make sense as is, but something along these lines could possibly be good and seems way more straightforward.

    Season is soon to be!

    Answer 3 for 1 TPE, Answer 6 for 2

    1. What do you expect from this season for DC Dragons?
    2. What are your own individual goals for the upcoming S90?
    3. GM Frostbeard recently told a news network that "Dragons are still missing certain pieces but are ready to punish anyone who dares to bark" - your thoughts on that?
    4. Prospect Keegan Gamble recently got into trouble after he had a heavy argument with Ben Laas while attending press event. Team has refused to comment. What was the argument about?
    5. Looking at the NA conference, D.C. Dragons has a clear path to playoffs. Our of the teams in NA, who will be our straight rivals?
    6. Mark Calaway was recently a nominee for the rookie of the year. Sadly, he didn't win, however do you think that this sort of recognition helps a young player or puts him on an unnecessary pressure?

    1. I think the team has taken steps to compete, so playoffs would be nice
    2. Win an award in the VHLM
    3. The team is definitely sneaky strong
    4. Whether double e is better than double a in a name
    5. I feel like DC and Chicago are kind of rivals. Expansion teams created close by, while also being close geographically
    6. I think not winning ROTY will certainly motivate Calaway to be better, while also re-assuring him that he is being noticed.

Honestly, my favorite out of everything we tried was the first version with the streams--watching those taught me the rules of the game and that's something I've actually been able to apply as I've gotten out into the real world and played a little bit with some people who are from places that actually care about cricket.

I barely even remember my player, I feel like he was a meme player that actually turned out to do pretty decent. But yeah those streams were a blast, just us asking Berocka to explain whatever happened on the screen because none of us knew the rules. I also came out with a solid understanding of cricket which was nice.

I think a lot of people during that time kind of got sim league fever, and just wanted to open and run their own leagues without having a solid understanding of just how much work goes into one, which resulted in a lot of burn out, and people just going back to their own main league and focusing on that. IMO the best way to run these side projects is just as fun side projects, and not needing to turn it into something bigger like the main sim-leagues with a league structure, GM's, recruitment, updating. Just find a fun sim engine, make a basic update scale, and give people TPE to spend and run exhibition games or a tournament or something over a few months, and come back to it every so often.

Enforcing this becomes another thorn in our sides. Instead of a weekly IA check, it's now also a daily TPE check to see if players have crossed a threshold and their GM needs to call them up.

Could just be auto done in the portal?

Edit to add, I'm not keen on adding an extra junior league to VHLM GM's jobs to accommodate this. If we're hiring new GM's for it.....it's genuinely just the E but with fresh brackets.

My idea was just to give it to the VHLM AGM's. I really don't think its a lot of work for a VHLM GM if they don't have an AGM to manage, especially if as you say there isn't a lot of sub 100 tpe players. The players are still signing with a VHLM team upon creation, they would still join the VHLM LR, they are just playing for the VHLM farm team for a few weeks. I don't think we'd hire a bunch of new GM's for this.

Though I do wonder what it would do to a new layer's psyche to be immediately thrown in with bots. Then again if EVERYONE gets the same experience it might be less of an impact.

I kind of think of it like how most video games will put you against bots when you first start to ease you in and increase retention rates because you end up doing well immediately instead of getting shit on by real people. If you want to be disingenuous you could give the bots in that league fake names and not like B-BOT D1. Could also give them random varying stats if you really wanted. Can also leave anyone who goes inactive between 30-100 TPE in that league as well. Hell you could even allow recreates to make fillers that can just stay in the league for a few seasons. Satisfy the probably 2 people who are still in the PP2 crowd.

    4 minutes ago, Spartan said:

We absolutely won't have enough sub-100 TPE players to make a full forward/defense line per team

You could make it a smaller league too and have 2 teams be assigned to one affiliate. VHLM when I first created had only 5/6 teams so it's not that uncalled for. But it also doesn't really matter if there's filler players in there. Goal is for new players to come in and do well in it.

    7 minutes ago, Spartan said:

That's just shifting the E into the M and adjusting the brackets a bit

That's kind of the point. The E as it is right now obviously isn't working and isn't hype. But we can't really outright delete it, and there's not really a way to make it way better with how it's designed, otherwise we would've done either option by now. So instead, I think the best solution is redesigning it in a way that gets rid of the E, but also shifts everything to still work. Instead of players having this bad experience right in the middle of their career, playing in an irrelevant league, you change that to happen at the beginning of their careers while they are still getting used to the league, make it shorter, and still have the M support system in place for them.

Thank you for the useful reply

Okay but unironically it could be something cool. Have the farm league be filled with <100TPE players, when people create they play a few weeks on the farm team vs. other low TPE players and bots. It gives them actual minutes and good stats while they are still getting acquainted with the league. Once they get 100 TPE they get called up to the actual VHLM, which you would increase the cap of to accommodate VHLE deletion. This also means that they have some TPE to work with so they aren't getting totally blasted by the upper end of the VHLM. It also gives a sense of progression being called up and an early goal to work towards. Then having the teams be part of farm systems also gives them the community of the VHLM team, so they aren't stuck on a dead team with 1 other active. It would also be easy for VHLM AGMs to manage these teams and get them an actual intro GMing task that isn't being a press conference bot.

  15. 2 minutes ago, Spartan said:

Might need you to point at which specific scenario contained this one, there was a lot of data to review which I didn't spend enough time on. I didn't quickly see one that wouldn't cause roster issues at either the VHL or M level. Having full rosters in the M is not what we'd want, especially since we need room for waiver signings. Having teams show as full at the start of the season isn't optimal.

Replace VHLE with VHLM Junior Farm League :kekw:
