S86 Signature Collection
 
     Hello and welcome to the S86 KGW Signature Stick Collection!  We have been hard at work with 5 special players in the VHL to create custom sticks that will help represent their style, family, city and teams!  We took their feedback and created sticks that would help them stand out throughout the season.  We asked each player what they wanted their stick to represent and then our team got to it to create something everyone would be proud to have.  We collected everything and created our product showcase, Signature Collection!  Please enjoy!

Best way to take a look is to check out the PDF as it will let you zoom in and out and let you scan the QR codes if you are on a second screen that is not your phone.  Each player has a QR code attached that will take you to a short YouTube video of their custom stick!  Try it out!

didn't realize it was off season yet

I’m not going to lie, when I first joined this league I was very intimidated. I’m used to the NHL game sim leagues and I’ve only been in one other that was somewhat similar to this one so after looking around on my first day, you can understand why I took a few days to digest everything and finally make a player. The first challenge I encountered was understanding what the discord actually was. There was not really any explanation as to how to make a player and what the sim engine actually is. Luckily, the newcomer help channel was very useful and the community was very helpful in explaining what the next few steps were. After I made a player, someone (discord user N0HBDY) from the recruitment staff reached out to me and walked me through joining a team in the minors. It was very appreciated. The GM of the team I joined was responsive and welcomed me with open arms, as did my new teammates. It’s taken a little bit of time to get used to and I’m not sure how much I’m actually going to be able to progress and how good I’ll be able to make my player, as I’m not much of a writer or graphic designer. I wish there was some other way for people like me to gain TPE but I understand it is all about cultivating an engaging and active community. Overall, this entire league is absolutely bonkers and I am excited to be a part of it!

Another week, another blab. 17 days until I leave for Australia. That's pretty wild. I'm crazy, right? Some days I feel crazy but hey, once in a lifetime experience. Life is too short. Have fun. For the VHL, up and down once again for Seattle. After a hot start, we're basically a .500 team and looking around at others, it's surprising. LA has 2 d-men. Seattle has a decent enough goalie, great d-men and a mix of talent and depth up top. Could use more there but I think we're better than our record should be. Anyway, let's blab.
 
My player, Mikhail Kovalchuk, continues to do well with London. I really have enjoyed this player - as I do with all, but the excitement of this one has been a bit lower consistently. I'm looking forward to my next player but will keep trucking for now for Dil, London and to see if I can still have a decent ending. As mentioned, Seattle is up and down. Players builds like Bogatyrev are good enough to produce, but they struggle no matter what builds or players they're with. Yet, you look around the league and players with similar builds are thriving. It only bugs me so much because, as a GM would know and relate, we want all our players kicking ass. I was looking at player stats for their careers. Often, I write about which Seattle Bears players are coming up on career milestones. This time I hopped over to GM's. It's really cool to see how everyone is doing, has done and all the history with GM's. The wins totals goes like this (regulation, OTW, SOW) for top 15 GM's of all-time for wins. GREEN AND BOLD = STILL ACTIVE.

Hello fellow VHLers! Today, I am proud to announce that the *NEW* VHL App is ready to ready to release.
 
This time around, the app will be available for both iOS and Android devices. To accommodate the addition of a iOS version, the app has been completely rewritten from the ground up, meaning it has a completely new look and various new features.
 
The main feature of note is Push Notifications! This time around, you will have the option of enabling sim notifications for all of your favorite leagues and official tournaments. If enabled, you will receive a notification anytime the sims for that league are posted. These can be enabled by doing to the settings tab, listed at the bottom of the navigation menu.

Well I’ve been MIA from the VHL for a few days and I swear it feels like weeks since I last did anything of real substance here; including following discussions on discord. So let me list what I can think of between my work load that I’ve missed or have been running behind in.

@kirbithan made me a graphic for my sig and I have yet to add it because I was struggling with the imgur and download trick and honestly did not have the time to figure it out so the usable one is just sitting in my DMs waiting to be used.

As of my last check, I have the 9th worst VHFL team. Quite depressing if you ask me. Hopefully things pick up but honestly, I’m not too sure. I’m really getting my ass kicked in Fantasy this season.

I have yet to find the time to do the press conference for the Marlins or the Starfish of the Sim for the last few days and I have absolutely no idea what I am going to do for my media spot this week. (Never mind this turned into my MS without me even meaning to).

Apparently I’m in the running for the All Star Game European team??? I mean, we know I won’t win but holy shit I’m honestly surprised I was even considered. The voting is not going my way but again, just being considered really means a lot. So thank you to whoever voted for Jesse!

I grabbed some trivia and had to guess both because I just didn’t have the time or energy to go searching for really obscure questions. Got one correct on my guess though! I didn’t know affiliations were a thing outside of the other sim leagues? Not even sure if it means the same thing or not.

I honestly have not checked in with the Marlins or London overall to see how we’re doing. Work really just has been that busy. All I know is that Jesse is maintaining a winning record with 2 shutouts. But I also am sure that my stats are not top 5 numbers.

Normally I browse through the new forum content once or twice a day and I haven’t scrolled through the page in at least a week.

On a personal note, my fiancé and I have booked a venue, photographer, and florist for the wedding. She also found her dress and I have an appointment with a tailor in Brooklyn next month to discuss my custom suit. The only things left to do at this point until the summer are to book the hotel block and find a DJ. 

For those who don’t know I work in taxes and accounting so basically from January 1 to April 15th I am just going, going, gone. Which means my production and my social life on here will be down to what it takes to just max earn each week and get by. And it looks like I somehow managed to make a media spot out of a .com article.

So as some of you know, I've been dealing with some family stuff. Well I guess now is as good as a time as ever to fill the league in on what's been going on. So November of 2021 my father had a massive stroke and ended up passing away. This was the same time that I was made the GM of Prague. So while I was implementing my plan for the future of the franchise I was spending most of my days in the hospital seeing if he was going to recover or if he was going to pass. He ended up passing 6 days later. It was definitely a tough time for me but I had something to look forward to. Fast forward almost a year, my Mom was diagnosed with Leukemia she spent about 6 weeks in the hospital receiving chemo treatment. I was there everyday dealing with that as I'm her only caregiver. As this was going on I was made a Blue in the league (sensing a theme?). She's still undergoing treatment and we're
currently in her second round of chemo. So that's what I've been dealing with for the past 3 months just to give you guys some insight into my life and why I've really only been active with the other Blues and within the Prague discord. She's doing well and we're about to head to the city to meet with some Cancer specialists for the next steps and to hopefully find a "cure" instead of her having to be on a form of Chemo in a pill for the rest of her life. So with all of this negativity I had to do something positive. Well on Saturday I decided to propose to my girlfriend of almost 6 years. I had the ring for almost a month and just decided it was now or never. So with all of the negative things that have happened I have something positive to look forward to. Well, this concludes my update and just to give some folks a bit of insight into what's been going on recently. 
 
 

A Reflection On My First Year In The VHL
 
I've been putting off making this article for far too long at this point. The date was January 5th, 2022, during the late hours of the night I discovered the VHL through a YouTube video, little did I know how much time would be spent on said league within the next year. I created my player, Ivan Retoslav, and immediately messed up by claiming welfare. The next morning I made a decision that would completely alter my VHL journey, this single decision introduced me to three of the most influential members in my journey. These three go by the names of @Shindigs, @MubbleFubbles, and @Spartan . I joined Team Clue of the JST and immediately got a rundown on the league and how TPE works from both Spartan and Shindigs, I started talking to Shindigs almost every day. Eventually I was invited into the Vegas Aces discord server, I was a prospect that they were hoping to draft in the S82 VHLM Entry Draft. At the time Mubble was GM and @AJW was AGM, off topic but I'd like to personally thank AJ for making Ivan's gambling addiction a main part of his story. When the draft finally rolled around I wasn't picked by Vegas, but by the Marlins. @Frank saw something in Ivan that I hadn't even seen yet and put together a star studded first line, comprised of Landon Wolanin (@jacobcarson877), and Justin Adolfsen. The three of us were close together and Jacob and I became a sort of duo through our time there. Halfway through the season Ivan was traded to Houston, where he fell just short of the Founder's Cup. Soon the VHLE Draft rolled around and I was extremely surprised to see Ivan taken 2nd Overall by the Iron Eagles. If only I had known how much I would have to deal with then Gm @Dil throughout the rest of my time in this league. After a mediocre season in the VHLE Ivan was drafted 12th Overall in the VHL Draft to the London United, and then Dil followed me but we don't talk about that. Another funny thing, the trio from the Marlins went 12th, 13th, and 14th in the draft that season. The rest of Ivan's career has been a little underwhelming, he is currently a point per game player for the London United and is the Assistant Captain of the team. Throughout all this I was working with an old friend who helped me at the start as his AGM in Vegas. I was the AGM of Vegas during their two cup runs in S83 and S84, and Shindigs was their GM. I personally think he's the best GM in league history but he will not accept my compliments. At one point during this time I was selected to be the GM of Team Canada in the WJC and ended up leading the squad to a bronze medal. Soon I left my AGM position so that newer members could gain more experience under Shindigs. One of my favourite members has to be @dylanjj37, his player, Juan Ceson was difficult, but also fun to work with. Ivan also became the name of Juan's house pony, and then I was bestowed the discord role of "Pony Namesake" in the Vegas LR.Later I met one more influential member, who also happens to be Jacob's dad. @JCarson is one of my teammates in London and is one of the most fun members I've communicated with on here. He's also way more reliable for press conferences than I ever was as AGM for Vegas. This past year has been extremely fun and I have met so many amazing people in this community, and I hope to meet even more and have even more fun throughout the rest of my time here.
 
On another note, I have some honourable mentions for different situations from the past year that I think are pretty funny!
First up! Nobody at VSN seems to know how to spell Ivan's name, or for that matter @leandrofg's! While I was in Vasteras with Leandro, @Doomsday made an article talking about the two of us. In that article he called us Igor Restolav, and Leon Goncalves! So now we refer to each other as Leon and Igor. Another funny situation that was more recent was when @fonziGG found out for the first time that I am not Eaglesfan. When Fonzi realized this I had already been talking to him for more than 15 minutes on discord that day alone. We have had multiple conversations throughout the past year and it took him that long to realize I am a different person from Eaglesfan. Then we also have the Spartan being my dad situation, where he abandoned me and then I was adopted by Dil, who is only five years older than me in real life. There was also the time when Ivan nearly killed Dil with a hockey stick in Vasteras. Back in Houston there was also a time when Hammar Voss found Ivan drunk in an alley playing poker with a homeless man and took him home. There was also the time when I challenged @samx to find @Beketov's original username, I bet her 50 "bucks" that she couldn't find it. When she did though, I instead sent her 50 pictures of male deer. This annoyed Sam to no end and was one of the funniest situations I've ever been a part of. I hope to engage in even more shenanigans with all of you in the future and hope to make more memories within the VHL.
 
Finally, I'd like to take a moment to thank all the people who helped me throughout this journey and the people who caused me to stay in the league. (Yes I pinged all of you)
Firstly, I'd like to thank @Shindigs for all he did for me throughout my first year and for putting up with me daily for nearly 9 months straight.
Second, Thank you @Spartan  always being there to make fun of.
Next, I'd like to thank @samx for putting up with the 50 bucks situation and not instantly banning me from the league's discord even though I probably should have been.
I would also like to thank @Dil for continuing to believe in me even when I had no motivation, and for adopting me I guess.
Thanks to @AJW, I am now addicted to gambling because of you.
@InstantRockstar I'd like to thank you for all the feedback you've given me on  my GFX work and for making both of my sigs for Ivan. You are immensely talented and you should absolutely get hired by an NHL team to do GFX because you have the skills.
 
This past year has been one of the most fun years of my entire life and I sincerely thank all of you for all of the fun memories from this year. I can't wait to see what we're going to do in the next year, the VHL has become a major aspect of my life and these memories will forever be with me. Here's to the coming year!
