  11. Norris Stopko Position: Goalie Birthplace: Red Deer, Alberta, Canada Height: 6'8 Weight: 220 lbs Jersey Number: 1 Drafted: S57 18th overall (Stockholm) User: @Bushito Believe it or not, this incredible career almost never happened. Tyler Barabash said he only made a goalie to help his VHLM team, but decided to stick it out in the VHL. After a playoff run for the ages, Stopko has all but soIidified his spot into the Hall of Fame. Third in all time games played (512), fifth in all time wins (269), and first in saves (14,621) is plenty of material to get into the Hall, but throw that on top of his two continental cups, two Daisuke Kanou's, a Brett Slobodzian trophy, and three Aidan Shaw trophies, as well as having by far the most TPE a goalie has ever had, Stopko's induction was inevitable, and his career is absolutely worthy of his first ballot nomination. Career Awards: S61 Dustin Funk Trophy - Most Improved (CGY) S61 Greg Clegane Trophy - Lowest GAA (CGY) S61 Brett Slobodzian Trophy - Most Outstanding Player (CGY) S61 Aidan Shaw Trophy - Top Goaltender (CGY) S62 Greg Clegane Trophy - Lowest GAA (CGY) S62 Aidan Shaw Trophy - Top Goaltender (CGY) S62 Continental Cup (CGY) S63 Daisuke Kanou Trophy - Playoff MVP (CGY) S64 Aidan Shaw Trophy - Top Goaltender (TOR) S64 Continental Cup (TOR) S64 Daisuke Kanou Trophy - Playoff MVP (TOR) S57 Regular season 57 (STO) 64GP | 3W - 57L - 4OTL | 0.915SV% | 3.90GAA | 1SO | 242GA | 2862SA | 3718MP While it wasn't a rookie season to look fondly upon, that was largely as a result of how truly awful Stockholm was. The respectable save percentage shows that Stockholms failure wasn't because of Stopko's poor goaltending. He was a part of three out of the four wins the Vikings had that season. Luckily for him, he would only be there for one year, before Stockholm became merged with Calgary. S58 Regular season 58 (CGY) 65GP | 23W - 34L - 8OTL | 0.915SV% | 2.43GAA | 3SO | 160GA | 1872SA | 3950MP While his record was still poor, it was overall a really solid year for Stopko. It certainly did help that the team became respectable, as Stopko had to make 1,000 less saves than the year prior. His goals against also went way down, allowing over 80 less goals! The S57 Stockholm Vikings were something special, and not in a good way. While his save percentage stayed the same, this was a year he could build on. S59 Regular season 59 (CGY) 64GP | 29W - 31L - 4OTL | 0.924SV% | 2.44GAA | 6SO | 158GA | 2089SA | 3883MP Much like last year, it was a solid season for Stopko, despite his teams struggles. He finished with six shutouts, and anew best save percentage (.924%) Calgarys woes certainly were not a result of bad goaltending. One interesting factor is that Stopko averaged one shutout for every five wins, showing his importance to the Wranglers success. S60 Regular season 60 (CGY) 65GP | 35W - 28L - 1OTL | 0.923SV% | 2.29GAA | 6SO | 146GA | 1888SA | 3818MP Playoffs 60 (CGY) 9GP | 4W - 3L - 2OTL | 0.934SV% | 1.97GAA | 1SO | 20GA | 301SA | 608MP Now that Calgary was a good team, Stopko could finally put his talents on display. While his regular season stats certainly weren't jaw dropping, they were very strong numbers to put up for a player on the beginning of their prime years. What really popped off the page were his playoff stats, with a ridiculous .934 Save Percentage and a 1.97 GAA. His most impressive game was in game three against the Americans, where Stopko made 49 saves and kept his team in the game, before the Americans scored in double overtime and won the game 1-0, and eventually the series in six games. While the playoff exit was unfortunate, you could tell it was the beginning of something special. S61 Regular season 61 (CGY) 65GP | 49W - 14L - 1OTL | 0.932SV% | 1.64GAA | 14SO | 106GA | 1569SA | 3888MP Playoffs 61 (CGY) 14GP | 7W - 6L - 1OTL | 0.926SV% | 1.97GAA | 1SO | 20GA | 301SA | 608MP Talk about a career year. After posting new career highs in wins, save percentage, goals against average, and shutouts, it was all about Norris Stopko this season. He was awarded the Dustin Funk trophy, which is given to the player that is deemed the most improved. He also won the Aidan Shaw trophy for Top Goaltender, and the Brett Slobodzian for Most Outstanding Player. It was an excellent season for Stopko and the Wranglers, and they kept rolling in the playoffs. While the Legion barely scrapped by the Americans in the semi finals, their series with Davos was one for the ages, with every game being close, and Stopko playing some elite hockey. Unfortunately for them, they lost in game seven, a bittersweet ending to an excellent season. S62 Regular season 62 (CGY) 64GP | 55W - 6L - 3OTL | 0.928SV% | 1.83GAA | 9SO | 118GA | 1644SA | 3859MP Playoffs 62 (CGY) 13GP | 8W - 5L - 0OTL | 0.923SV% | 2.83GAA | 1SO | 38GA | 494SA | 804MP Last year was a hell of a ride for the Wranglers and yet it keeps on getting better. While it was not Stopko's best year, he still put up tremendous stats behind one of the best Wranglers teams in franchise history, headlined by Jasper Canmore, Keaton Louth, and Mats Johnsson helping to bring the team to a staggering 60 wins. Stopko won the Aidan Shaw again, alongside the Greg Clegane trophy for lowest GAA. They ran through the Seattle Bears in the semi finals, before facing a tough team in the Quebec City Meute. In game two, Stopko had an incredible 48 save, double overtime win that tied the series at one game a peice. The series went all the way to game seven, where the Wranglers finally prevailed. Stopko had finally won it all, but it was Keaton Louth being handed the Daisuke Kanou. S63 Regular season 63 (CGY) 67GP | 46W - 16L - 4OTL | 0.915SV% | 2.32GAA | 7SO | 155GA | 1834SA | 4009MP Playoffs 63 (CGY) 12GP | 6W - 4L- 2OTL | 0.938SV% | 2.50GAA | 1SO | 30GA | 484SA | 719MP While the regular season wasn't as successful as Stopko is used to, perhaps he was just saving his best play for the post season. In the playoffs, he posted an ungodly .938 save percentage. His most impressive performance was in game one of the semi final vs the Bears, where he made 56 saves in a shutout victory, one of the greatest performances in VHL playoff history. His run would reach the finals, with a 31 save performance against Riga in game four, and a 37 save performance in game five, but in game six, Stopko had an off game, which led to a Riga 4-3 win, and the Wranglers had lost in the finals yet again. Despite being on the losing end, Stopko received the Daisuke Kanou trophy, for his insane goaltending through the playoffs. He shared the award with Ryuu Crimson, but they would be back next year. S64 Regular season 64 (TOR) 58GP | 29W- 21L - 7OTL | 0.930SV% | 2.52GAA | 3SO | 147GA | 2095SA | 3505MP Playoffs 64 (TOR) 12GP | 10W - 2L - 0OTL | 0.940SV% | 2.51GAA | 1SO | 32GA | 537SA | 766MP As the Wranglers decided to rebuild, they shipped off Stopko, Arroyo and Louth to Toronto to contend in their final year together. Stopko would retire after the season was up, and in the regular season he played spectacular. Despite playing 58 games, a career low, he finished with three shutouts and a .930 Save Percentage, and won the Aidan Shaw as best goaltender. In the playoffs, we saw one of the greatest goaltending shows ever. Two straight wins in the wildcard series against the Meute. They thrashed the victory cup winning Bears in six games, making it look easy. In game three, Stopko made 45 saves en route to a 5-1 win. In the finals, they met the Helsinki Titans, fresh off a battle against the Reign in the semi finals. Once again, Stopko stood tall. He made 38 saves in game two, where the Legion won 4-2. In game four, he stopped 49 shots out of 50 the Titans sent his way, and the epic career of Norris Stopko had a storybook ending. He was the hero, and he won a deserved Daisuke Kanou trophy. Career totals: Regular season Totals 512GP | 269W - 207L - 32OTL | 0.922SV% | 2.41GAA | 49SO | 1232GA | 15853SA | 30630MP Playoffs Totals 60GP | 35W - 20L - 5OTL | 0.932SV% | 2.48GAA | 4SO | 156GA | 2300SA | 3772MP Norris Stopko is one of the greatest goaltenders the VHL has ever seen, not just through his regular season stats, but through his postseason stats and trophy case. He raises his game in the postseason, which was very evident in his last playoff run, which was one of the most dominant runs from a goaltender ever. His career is truly worthy of this Hall of Fame nomination.
  12. It's that time of year again. Its time for the World Juniors! As the great nation of America, we pride ourselves with great achievement. Last year, was a total and utter failure. This year will be different, I assure you. After the shenanigans that happened with the last roster, lets take a look at the new and improved roster: Bert Meyers @RunnerBert11 Teagan Glover @Bucky___lastard Orion Slade @BluObieZ Brian Strong @Wheaties Matteo @tunedtorock Kyson Blake @TMI Aleksander Rodriguez @Jtv123 Eric Parker @Eparker24 Kyle Sabertooth @uphillmoss Dallas Jones @Trifecta Jerry Garcia @GustavMattias Charlie Paddywagon @DMaximus Apollo Hackett @Renomitsu Joe Nixon @Bonzaijoe Justin Cole @WhiteMocha Sorry if you have already been tagged and got re-tagged Overall the roster stayed the same, except Brian Strong replaced Emil Passerelli. I did this because Strong has been more active. The original decision to put Passerelli on the team instead of Strong was due to Passerelli simming very well. 13. Teagan Glover (@Bucky___lastard) should be in the MVP conversation. As a seemingly unknown rookie, and the 33rd pick in the VHL draft, he has put up 36 points in Malmo's first 27 games, and hasn't slowed down at all, and yet nobody seems to care. I haven't heard a word about Glover from anyone besides the Malmo locker room. He sits fourth in the league in points, ahead of big names such as Beau Louth, Matt Thompson, and Julian Borwinn, and is way ahead of talents like Rylan Peace, Robert Malenko, Elias Dahlberg and Podrick Cast. He has nine points on the second placed point guy on Malmo (Vaydor Odinsson). While JHC has been in the spotlight of Malmo's success, Glover deserves far more credit than he is getting. JHC is having an incredible season, but the second highest scoring offense in the league (only behind Moscow, wtf?) isn't being caused by JHC. Thats all Glover and Lynch. Not me, I suck. I considered picking Glover in fantasy, but I took myself instead since I though Glover would slow down and I would pick up. Well, Glover has kept trucking along and I have become a benchwarmer in the last ten games. Well, all I'm trying to say is that Teagan Glover needs way more attention than he is getting
  14. Did Stopko get onto Calgary as a result of Stockholm folding and their players going to Calgary?

    1. Quik

      Quik

Yes. 'Technically' Calgary was the team that was annexed in the retraction, along with Cologne. But, to avoid losing their history, Stockholm was the city to get retracted, and the players were all moved to Calgary.

  15. Man i really suck. What is wrong with me
  16. In his last game, May had 51 saves on 56 shots. He'll come around
  17. The logo swap is fantastic. Don't love the text but the jersey is good enough that it's still a great sig
  18. Join the mens basketball team, i see you swishing threes in the warehouse ?
  19. Davos: Trades for superstars, has good homegrown talent, is one of the best teams on paper STHS:
  20. Even though I didn't have any points, big win for Malmo!
  21. Owen May standing on his head. 51 saves ?
