Hello VHL community, my name is Vinnie and I am new to the league. I am still figuring everything out and this is my first crack at trying to earn TPE that is not training or welfare. My player's name is V Slice and at 42 TPE I feel like a baby compared to some of the players I see in the VHL. My player is a centreman who I hope can grow up to be like McDavid one day but we will see how that goes.
 
I just signed my first waiver offer with the Halifax 21st and they were kind enough to let me hop on their roster for their playoff run. Halifax was the only team to send me an offer and now look at me, on the second best team in the league, pretty crazy. I did join the season late and did not get to experience any regular season games so these playoffs will be the first time my feet are getting wet. 
 
I hope this will be some fun for me and I can grow my player some more. Do not know if anyone will read this but if you do I hope you enjoyed meeting me.

1. With a few games left in the season, how do you think your player fared this year? 
Pretty well, I suppose, given I only played in a handful of games after the trade deadline. It was good enough to create a solid foundation moving forward.
 
2. What is one thing in the off season you would like to focus on??
Boosting my defensive abilities outside of just defense. I seem to have a decent enough shot but I don't see myself driving play from the point all that often.
 
3. Would you ever be interested in management roles in the future? 
If my time(s) in this league have taught me anything, it's that I tend to get sucked in and set myself up for burnout. Fortunately, I feel like not being on Discord kind of precludes me from ever really being considered, so I don't think that's going to be an issue this time around.
 
4. If given the opportunity would you like Miami to draft you or retain you next season?
Absolutely. Even though we weren't very good, it was great to get top-pair minutes right off the bat, and I feel like I played well enough to be considered for a full season in that role around here.
 
5. What is your favourite summer activity?!
Not going outside in the heat. I spent wayyyyy too much time inside last year (although I'm guessing most people did), so even being able to take walks when the weather cooperates would be nice.
 
6. Do you play video games? If so what is your favourite?!
I'm really more of a board gamer, to the point that the video game I spend the most time playing these days is the Steam version of Gloomhaven. On the PS5, I'm working through the FF7 Remake intermission episode now...I've already Platinumed the base game and the ported original version. I also clearly have a place in my heart for MMX.

I've been around for about a week now, and so far, so good. Sting Chameleon seems to be doing pretty well for himself with ten points and a -14 rating through 15 games. He's holding his own defensively as well, although the Marauders aren't very good and I was mostly just looking for some top-pair playing time.
 
The site itself seems more or less the same as it has since the last time I was around a couple years ago, even without jumping into Discord. I'll admit that I'm not looking very hard ... I won't ever be as interested as I was during the ... um ... Twenties, I guess? Have y'all started referring to groups of seasons like decades yet?
 
Anyways, it's nice to see how far this league has come from a technology standpoint. I remember about 10-12 years ago trying to make an all-time stats catalog MANUALLY through Excel (I didn't know how to use Excel beyond basic formulas), and now we have a whole damn portal, to say nothing about the growth of the community to the extent that a third league is being implemented.
 
I have no idea how long I'll be around this time...I usually make good headway with the first guy I create before trying to go all-out on a second guy and becoming despondent when I'm nowhere near the top of the draft order because I don't recruit and nobody who joined after about 2013 knows me, but I'm here for now. Someone make me a sig plz and thank you.

1. With their very impressive starts; how big of pick ups were Barry Bonds Jr. and Bill Nye for Miami? 
It doesn't seem to have translated on the ice just yet, but they both have great potential. Nye might be a little too balanced right now, but players like that can grow into their role after a few years. Bonds has some muscle on him, just like his pops, and he can throw it around.
 
2. Who on the team do you think has the most potential in their VHL career?  
In addition to having an awesome name, Poopy Peepants plays like a great all-around defenseman who can do everything well. Players like that can go far in their careers.
 
3. If you’re in the VHLM again next season what would you want from Miami as an organization to fill your needs and desire to stay?!
I'm definitely going to be in the VHLM again next season...I joined Miami off the bat because I know the general manager from back in the day, which isn't the case with most teams, but for a full season I'd definitely prefer the team be more competitive than it is this year,
 
4. What is your personal highlight of this season as a Marauder?
I know defensemen aren't always the best scorers, so it's been nice to kick off my career as a point-per-game player, even if it's just through a handful of games.

@Hybrid1486 Hello old friend! I returned from a 3 year hiatus last season, and I also think Discord is lame and impossible to keep up with! Though I kind of try to do so anyway.

Meh, prolly not then...Discord always seems to suck the fun out of things for me, I join it in relation to something I like but then I have to be connected all the damn time and it becomes a chore

I'm not going to waste anyone's time/draft picks since I'm not into the VHL at all anymore. Given that I don't recruit (since my internet presence is almost nil outside of Twitter and Facebook) and I'm not particularly into Discord, I feel like the league has moved away from where I can be involved to the level I'd like to be. I'm not saying this is bad (clearly it's not, given the crazy uptick in activity lately), it's just not for me. Best of luck to y'all.

Literally live sim 5 of 7 games (was intending on doing all 7, but had to get sims done when I did/circumtance) and still people think something is fishy? There is no extra inside knowledge of how the sim operates. Not more than any of the other GM's who've been here just as long as me. Also I'll say again, we've had GM's be simmers before tons. Will and Jardy come to mind as examples. 
 
Just so you guys are aware, the only way for someone to "rig" something in the sim would be if I deleted the game file that it outputs after I hit simulate, and then reload an older version of the index back before the game happened. Hence why when I live sim....there is literally 0% chance of foul play involved. 
 
As for simming, Beketov is taking VHL next season and me VHLM, and then we will alternate every other season due to work load. Anyway, I'm not going to get into responses about this stuff, I've talked with Bek about it before the finals even started....and we are confident in our simming team. It'd be nice if members put the salt away for half a second to see that too. But I get it, obviously it's not a conflict of interest when OTHER GM's sim...but when I do, it is. *laughs* 

Please tell me we're not actually having this conversation.
