Team Europe for the World Junior Championships today announced their GM. They are happy with their selection and look forward to a great tournament. The GM of Team Europe will be GM Greg who last season took Team Asia to a bronze medal finish in the WJC. It is rumored that Asia wanted Greg back but he couldn’t turn down the offer from Europe as he is from Poland. “ I know Asia wanted me back and I am thankful for them in starting off my GM career but there is nothing better then joining a team where you came from “ Said Greg “ I was born in Poland and its an honor being named GM of the European team. I wish Asia all the best in this tournament!” The European WJC Committee is expecting another gold medal this year and Europe should have a great opportunity to achieve that once again. Their biggest competitors will be Team Canada and Team USA. “ I believe we have a lot of talent on this team and a lot of depth. We had so many great players to choose from that we even loaned some out to Team World and Team Asia” Said Greg “European players have a bright future in the VHL and with this tournament we will showcase our talents. Anything less then a gold medal will be a huge disappointment” On paper, Europe looks very solid in both offense and defense. There is a little worry in the goalie department as Europe has the lowest TPE for goalies but GM Greg is not worried at all. “ On paper we may look like we have the weakest goal-tending but I don’t think that’s true. The starter that we have chosen has been playing great and I know he will shine once put onto the world stage, we also have a great backup who will also get a game or two in “ Greg said “ I have 100% trust in our goalies and our team” GM Greg has also said that the announcement of the roster for Team Europe will be coming over the next little while. Everyone that has seen the roster agrees that Greg has put together a great team of some of the best young prospects Europe has to offer. Once the announcement is made, players will be made available to Team Europe to start practicing and bonding with their new team-mates. “ I intend to play a fast paced, high scoring game with this team “ Said Greg on the selections “ All these guys are the best of the best of European prospects and they all have very high skill. I intend to use tactics and line combinations that suits the type of style these guys offer” If Greg was able to take Asia to a bronze last season with his tactics then we can’t wait to see what he has in store for a more high skilled team with Europe. Tune in to the WJC to see how far Europe can go and to see a showcase of some of the best Europe has to offer.

Despite having the best season of his career, Greg Eagles, has been struggling over the last few games. In his last 4 games, Eagles has gone 2-2, but has let in 15 goals. Most of those goals were very soft and the Wolves goaltender should have stopped a majority of them. Even with Eagles letting in all these goals he is having a career year with a save percentage of .914 and GAA of 2.53. " I don't know really what to say, the last couple games have been rough and I just need to bounce back" Said Eagles " The team is counting on me and I need to perform better, I just hope I can pull out of this funk before the playoffs start" The Wolves overall have been playing very well, notching up over 50+ shots in 2 of those last 4 games. The Wolves also currently sit 2nd in the league with a record of 27-13-1. Right now the Wolves management still have faith in Eagles but if this bad play continues the trust in Eagles play might be diminished.

Wooo let's get the gold Europe!

some questions 1) With Toronto now only 1 point behind us, do you think we can keep hold of second place over the next couple games? 2) Do we have what it takes to surpass Helsinki and claim back 1st for ourselves? 3) HHH currently sits in first for goals and second in points. How crucial has he been to the Wolves success so far? 4) Who's your early favorite for the season MVP in the VHL? 5) Do you think we are at our max capacity playing wise or is there still room for improvement? 6) Which team do you hate playing the most this season? 7) Which team do you like playing the most this season? 8. How has your season been going so far? Any room for improvements? 9) If the VHL were to hold a special outdoor game, who would you give it to and where? 10) With the WJC starting in the next little while, who do you think will win gold this year?

Eagles frustrated with some members of the media

Don't step on our logo and it wont be a problem! -

Today an article was posted in the Vancouver News which was written by the Wolves goalie Greg Eagles. This was a fascinating topic due to that different teams handle this differently and we ask the readers where do you stand on this topic? The article posted by Eagles is below One of the most enjoyable debate traditions in the hockey universe that I have had with players and media is the debate that always crops up when reporters/guests come into the teams locker room and step on the team logo. The base of this argument surrounds team pride, respect, some logic and common sense depending on which side of the issue you stand. I have no problem and respect when a team has a policy about not stepping on the logo in the locker room. It’s most definitely the hockey player in me that has respect for this type of locker room rule. The point is obvious and I’m certain everyone gets that it is centered around having respect and pride in your team and adopting a team-first attitude. This also is not just a hockey issue but pretty much an issue in any sport. In soccer for example, at Liverpool FC only the current players/managers are allowed to touch the logo on the way out of the room and they also do not step on the logo inside the locker room. However, there are many out there who think this is a silly practice and pay very little respect for teams who institute that rule in their locker room. Even if fans or media members think this rule is dumb or silly, they should still have enough respect to abide by the rules the team has put forth. Vancouver will now implement a rule that for those that don’t abide by this rule, will no longer be allowed into the locker room. This has caused some issues with some of the media, but for the most part it has been widely accepted. The base of this argument seems to stem not from having respect for a team’s logo but around the fact that it’s ridiculous to think that the logo on your locker room floor needs to be treated with sanctity while a massive one adorns center ice where all the players skate over it. I can support those who are non players and who find it kind of silly to think that teams skate all over your team’s logo on a nightly basis in front of thousands but the embroidered logo in the locker room cannot be touched. That being said, I am still in agreement with my own team and the request of other teams have for people to not step on the logo. It really isn’t that much to ask for. Now, if the logo is so enormous that it takes up a ton of space in the room, then there is an issue. This doesn’t change the fact that I think there is a better solution out there, but I still respect the practice. I’m not saying that “you don’t get it because you never played the game” or anything like that. This is about a team having and showing great pride in what they do and demanding respect from those around them. You don’t have to like it but it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal to abide by the wishes of a team, especially a team that you are reporting on.
