Greetings VHL, Today, I will present a fast and loose S70 draft review, giving my opinion on which draft picks will work out and which draft picks will flip on the GM and become a bust. I mean no disrespect or ill-offence to anyone in the following commentary. I am fully aware that not everyone is awake @ degen hours, active on the discord, or a villain like myself. I may have never even spoken to you before and am calling you a bust in this article. This is strictly an opinion piece from a notorious sim league villain/scumbag, so do not take any offence if I think you're a bust. Use it as motivation and prove me wrong and link me this article in 8 months and call me an idiot then. I also pay 0 attention to the VHLM, so if you were very active there and tore shit up, I have literally no clue about it. つ ◕_◕ ༽つ BUST OR LICK - S70 VHL ENTRY DRAFT ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ 1. Edwin The Encarnacion - I'm really tempted to start this out with a bang and call this pick a bust, but I think the odds are it should be a LICK. I'm thinking there's like a 60% success / 40% fail rate with going with ETE at this position. If CAL didn't have pick 2, I'd be more willing to label this a bust. 2. Mikko Lahtinen - Probably most secure LICK status of this draft. At the very least will remain active. Probably will put up exciting numbers out of nowhere if recent history is to be considered. 3. Odin Omdahl - My favourite pick of the draft. Clear LICK status here. The top 3 of this draft I think was very secure in their lick status, with only my personal doubt of tagger clouding any swift judgment of bust. 4. Jacques Lafontaine - Another simple LICK of a pick here. Don't know too much about this guy, but his saskatoon wild avatar is legendary on VHL imho, which is enough to give him an easy lick status in this article which means nothing. 5. Chad Magnum - First pick of this draft where I'm debating things heavily. Corco is an old school sim league member, but has plenty of inactivity on his resume. Just for the sake of making this article exciting, and maybe to provide him some motivation to become a success with this player, I'm unfortunately giving Chad Magnum BUST status here. 6. Iangenere Risteneen - NYA has been good at drafting traditional, and lately, and this could work out as a lick, but for me, Maasa has definitely dropped in activity over the past month, and still does a horrible job at the VHL portal news feed management, in my humble opinion, so I'm forced to give him BUST status. I'd have easily taken Dawson over him and Chad Magnum above. 7. Lewis Dawson - Notorious sim leaguer who has seemingly turned a new leaf and quietly goes about his business. No way this is a bust. Shouldn't have fell this far in the draft, as he's dependable for activity and has player build knowledge/experience. Malmo hit a LICK with this one. 8. Jared Spaz - Don't know anything about the player, his history, if he's a new gen or a re-create. Best of luck to him in his career, but my ignorance results in him being a BUST. 9. Jax Hextall - Hey, this pick lines up with my S70 mock draft from last week! Seems like this guy is the best goalie in the class. I don't know anything about him, and he's unlucky in that he got drafted to a cursed franchise, but it's possible they will need goaltending in the future, and this could solve it for them. As much as I want to call this a bust because it's Davos, for some reason I think this guy will succeed (probably away from Davos though). So we got a late-round LICK here. 10. Justin Graves - I've made up the rumour that this guy is STZ's brother, but besides that, I really have no reason to consider him a lick. Hopefully he uses this snub as motivation and makes it to the very top one day. BUST. 11. Kyle Andersen - Don't know anything about him. Looks like he's only earned 4 capped tpe in 3 of the last 4 weeks. Clearly a BUST. 12. Shawn Glade Jr. - BUST as a GM. BUST as a draft pick. Probably will be a lick if he doesn't RQ the VHL after being fired, but if I was a VHL GM and I could pick myself with my THIRD 1st rounder of the draft, instead of being forced to use my FIRST first rounder, it definitely should be a lick all day long. My humble suggestion is to make the money tracking more transparent or have more clear directions on how the store itself works. i.e. A player has multiple "income streams" (contract, donation, lotto, yearly special giveaway, etc.) and there's no real guide or documentation within the store or the finances tab of your player page, indicating what automatically makes it into the system and what doesn't. It seems like contracts are now automated, which is awesome, but those "rare" sources of VHL $$ is where I think it gets confusing.

Night 1 was the better night, IMO. Ospreay vs Hiromu was the WK highlight for me. Insane match.

Malmo won if they get a cup with Wilinsky. Seattle won otherwise. I still voted Malmo though.

NEW QUESTIONS 1. S70 Draft is incoming. Do you think Beketov is the clear 1oa? If you were a GM, would you do anything besides picking him at 1oa? 2. What do you think the primary color of the Prague Phantoms is? Black? Blue? Purple? Pink? If you had to choose ONE color to represent them, what is it? 3. Are you following the NFL football scene? I think it's their playoffs, are you caught up in the drama of it? 4. What are your personal targets for S70 in terms of sim stats? Whether it's a goal/assist/point total or maybe even some PIMs or hits. Jaguar had like 2 fights last season so I'm hoping I can somehow improve on that. 5. Moscow had a few cap casualties after S69. We will miss our former teammates patpou and poptart, give them a word of thanks for their time and service to Moscow pls & ty. 6. Greetings VHL fam, Need to do a written vhl.com this week cuz of off-season and stuff. So I humbly present a basic/simple S70 mock draft. This is a bunch of basic, uneducated guesses as to what teams will need value in the first round of the S70 VHL Entry Draft. Note: This is NOT my 'BUST OR LICK' article for season 70. That will likely come after the draft is completed. Alright. Without further ado, lets get down to the mock draft: 1. - Mikko Lahtinen ( @Beketov ) - Pretty much a no brainer. This guy should be 1oa in this draft all day long. Commish of the site, has the ability to rig, clearly knows how to exploit STHS to get insane stats. 1OA material all day long. 2. - Odin Omdahl ( @zepheter ) - GASP - A lot of people think that Tagger/Beketov are easy 1/2 picks, and Calgary (I assume) will likely be taking both of them. Tagger, however, for me, is a bit suspect. I know he has the most tpe of the prospects. I know he has lots of history on VHL and is a respected member that is liked by a lot of people and may be a commish or some shit, but I believe he has some inactivity in his track record and possibly a bust player or two. Ultimately, he apparently has a lot of juice on VHL, but I barely know him / have interacted with him.... So is he really that big of a deal then? IDTS. Zepheter on the other hand has been very active since joining, tried to recruit his friends to VHL who joined but then abandoned him, but he's still been active. Plus his dog pic avatar is legendary. 3. - Edwin THE Encarnacion ( @Tagger ) - I think Banna will be happy if he gets a hold of Beketov/Tagger, however, I think Tagger will be a bust, so watch out for him on my S70 BUST or LICK article. Even though I'm calling him a bust, he doesn't fall outside of the top 3 picks of this draft. 4. - Jacques Lafontaine ( @SlapshotDragon ) - Ah yes, the man with the Saskatoon Wild logo as his avatar. Seems like Calgary would need a goalie after Brick Wahl raised hell and dumpstered the team, so why not pick the highest TPE goalie of the draft class at 4? Also how tf does Calgary have all these damn picks? If Calgary had a goalie (they might have one still IDK) I'd be tempted to put monkeywrench15 here, because I think he might be friends with Bushito, but CAL will probably need a goalie. 5. - Shawn Glade Jr ( @ShawnGlade ) - Bust pick here. Hopefully Davos is forced to select their GM player. Waste of a 1st round pick but whatever. 6. - Lewis Dawson ( @monkeywrench15) - The Americans had a strong S69 draft, snagging Soren Jensen way lower than he should have gone and another good pick iirc. They will continue their good drafting in S70 by selecting Lewis Dawson at 6oa. Has a proven track record of making good players and staying active. Sleeper pick here. 7. - Chad Magnum ( @Corco ) - Another old school sim leaguer who, I would assume, has some sort of ties to Malmo GM Advantage. S70 tpe tracker starting to look a bit thin here, but Magnum is in the top 5 of tpe earned for the draft class, so he should be picked around the 6, 7, 8 mark of the draft. Why not Malmo? They have lots of d-men so they could prob use a forward spect. 8. - Iangenere Risteneen ( @Maasa ) - A young up-and-coming VHLer, who already has a league job (but I hate how he does it). Seems he's been inactive lately though, so that's kind of scary. Prospect pool basically fell off a cliff after the top 6 (Shawn Glade Jr is not in the top 6). Maybe HEL takes a gamble on him due to his initiative with his league job? IDK. 9. - Jaxx Hextall ( @ROOKIE745 ) - Davos probably needs a goalie now that Finn Davison is gone, right? Why not pick this goalie here. Seems like he's top 10 of tpe earned in the draft. Never heard of him before. Hopefully he can help Davos out and not be a bust. 10. - Damien Wolfe ( @Laflamme ) - Last prospect I've heard of in this class, but he might already be inactive. I'll throw him here anyways. Not sure what TOR needs, probably a lot since I think they're going into a rebuild... They could have used some higher draft picks in this draft. 11. - Gabriel Gutzwiler ( @DaftRaincloud ) - Absolutely no clue who this is, but I got a feeling he could be a steal in the draft. HEL usually drafts decently, so I have a feeling they'll sniff out this needle in a haystack. Something about this player piques my interest, I can't explain it. 12. - Justin Graves ( @JDGraves ) - I'm starting a rumour that this guy is @STZ's brother and thus, will continue to be active and grind tpe. Could be a steal of a draft pick. Clearly Davos will pass on him and take some other bust, but he should go late 1st/early 2nd, since he's STZ's brother and everything.
