Dalton Wilcox reacted to Elmebeck in One night in Bangkok
Whiskey filled the one ounce shot glass in little time, brown in color with flecks of gold, "Fuck Malmö!", Elmebeck raised his glass before he downed it. @Dalton Wilcox laughed.
'It's not that bad,' Wilcox offered.

'The cunts didn't even protect you! What are you talking about? Surely you don't want to stay there, right?'

Wilcox resigned his head towards the bar disk before moving to other thoughts less desparaging, 'You're right-handed, right?', he asked, while trying to fix the salt rim on his glass of 'Margarita'.

'Sure', Elmebeck let out with a cough from the Hong Tong shot he just took. Both sweating from the heat in Bangkok.

'So why do you shoot like a lefty?'

'I don't know, why did Mario? Perhaps because it's better.', he smiled while running his hand over the eye from the effect of the toxic drink.

'So where do you think you will end up? Where will I end up?', the eyes of Wilcox were dead serious.

'I don't know my man, I don't know. I am just so happy if I can avoid Malmö and Davos. I think the expansion teams may have an eye for you, and they should. And I also hope they have an eye for me. Otherwise I want to go to New York.'

'New York are fucking deadbeats, your's better than that! They lost this season like if they tanked it on purpose! You'll have four seasons of rebuild competing with the expansion teams.'

'New York is New York, and New York is god damned amazing.', Elmebeck paused to light a cigarette.

'How do you even get in shape for next season with all that smoking? ...'

'...and drinking that you are partaking in.', Elmebeck added with a wink.

'AND the drinking. But how do you get in shape?'

'I stop eating hamburgers two weeks before the season starts.'

Wilcox chuckled, and continued, 'But seriously, you and I in Prague, wouldn't that be a beautiful thing?'

'It certainly wouldn't be a fuggazzi.'

    'Fuggazzi?'

'Not a fake. Not a bad thing.'

'I know what a fucking fuggazzi is, not just in the weird context you brought it up!', Wilcox pupils dilated a tinge.

Attempting to disarm the situation, Elmebeck offered, 'You want to see a beautiful thing?'

    'Wah'?!'

'Here, this is a beautiful thing.', as he wrote on a loose piece of paper.

'That it is.', Wilcox had to admit, 'How would you rate the teams though?'

The evening continued with more thoughts on the upcoming drafts and their future careers. Specifically the implications of two new teams entering the league and what consequences that could have for either of them with the upcoming expansion draft, followed by the regular draft.

The final list made up by Elmebeck in the late hours read like this:

    "Prague / New York
    Seattle
Anything really, but preferably Prague or New York
    Malmö
    Davos"

Thereafter they went home to tend their gardens.

Credits to @Tate for the opening line, probably best one in this whole piece.

Q: Now that you’ve had a few weeks off and had a chance to decompress after the VHLM playoffs, how do you feel your season with the Houston Bulls went?
A:  Obviously it sucks to have been eliminated so early in the playoffs, but overall I’m happy with my season.  I ended up as one of the top 5 goal scorers in the VHLM and was in the goal scoring and points race the whole season.  A lot of credit goes to @FrostBeard who really put me into a position to succeed and to my teammates who were really supportive of me the whole season.

Q:  Was there anything you could have done differently in the playoffs?
A:  I don’t think so.  We were dominated in all facets of the game.  Maybe some lines had to be tinkered and some strategies had to be adjusted, but I don’t think it really would have made a difference.  We were just unprepared.

Q:  How have you been spending the last few weeks after the playoffs ended? Have you been following the VHL/VHLM playoffs?
A:  To be honest, I was in a pretty bad place for short period of time.  I had extremely high hopes for the playoffs and was pretty sure we were in contention for the championship.  The quik exit led me back to the bottle.  A lot of hours were spent in bars and in places I can’t mention in a family friendly interview.  Luckily @Elmebeck was around and was able to pick me up whenever I was feeling down.  He ended up being one of my closest teammates on the team and we’ve had some fun times during and after the season. I look forward to seeing him drafted into the VHL and hopefully we can end up on the same team (even though he hates Malmo).

Q:  What is your offseason looking like?
A:  So yeah, I’ve returned to the family farm just to help out a bit.  I’ve been away from them all season so it’s cool to see how the animals and crops have grown, and just how things changed over the last few months.  I plan on helping out there for a few weeks before getting back into training.

Q:  What is your offseason training plan?  Any specific areas of focus?
A:  Luckily I have a homemade gym at the family ranch so I do plan on spending a lot of time in there.  One can always get bigger, faster and stronger so I’ll be working on a lot of powerlifting and HIIT.  The plan is to work on explosiveness, speed and to be able to get stronger.  I lost a lot of board battles this year so the plan is to get bigger in order to fend off the bigger and faster dmen in the VHL.

As far as skills go, I’ve actually contacted famous skills coach and NHL hall of famer Adam Oates for some one on one training.  He’s one of the best playmakers the game has ever seen, and that’s one part of my game I really need to wok on.  I look forward to learning a lot from him as I make the jump to the VHL.

Dalton Wilcox got a reaction from HughJas_ in Wilcox wraps up VHLM Career
With his VHLM career winding down after a disappointing playoff exit with the Houston Bulls, Dalton Wilcox is ready to transition to the VHL.  The fast skating, hard shooting scorer has developed nicely, starting with 40 points in his first season with the San Diego Marlins and then finishing up with 95 points the following season with the Houston Bulls.  He has really rounded out his game, but still has more to work on in order to succeed at the next level.

Wilcox is currently property of the Malmo Nighthawks, who drafted him 19th overall in S67, but with the expansion draft looming, his future still very much up in the air.  Wilcox will be happy for the opportunity to play for the team that drafted him, but ultimately knows that the VHL is a business and he'll go play wherever he ends up.

Wilcox ends his VHLM career with 66 goals and 69 assists (nice) for 135 points in 144 games.  Will Wilcox be able to sustain his lofty scoring totals at the next level?  Will he be a total bust?  Stay tuned...

Dalton Wilcox reacted to HughJas_ in Minnesota Storm Press Conference Questions
    1) I expect a competitive series splitting games and ultimately us taking the win.
    2) Our D core is just as good if not better than theirs. Our forwards which was a weak point for our team in the beginning have improved drastically. Regarding their effectiveness, they can do all they want, I believe we're the better team.
    3) @Dalton Wilcox, we both belong to the Malmo Nighthawks organization and have always been competitive towards one another. There are reports that I will be chosen to be protected over him in the upcoming expansion draft. I will prove why I was chosen as the better player, while also eliminating him and the Houston Bulls from cup contention.
    4) Compete level is at an all time high, players chirp and get scrappy. Playoff hockey is like no other, just an accumulation of all the hard work put into the regular season in preparation for this moment.
5 I put faith in my teammates, it's been a long season but having them to rely on really helps.
    6) More cash then when I'm back home in Vancouver, America seems to have more cash transactions than back home.

Dalton Wilcox reacted to Elmebeck in Danny Trejo introduces VHL-bid for Amarillo
    Amarillo Sarsaparillas

Danny Trejo came out in a surprise press conference yesterday, announcing his bid for a new expansion team for the VHL. Based in Amarillo the team would be the Amarillo Sarsaparillas.

Trejo's company, "Trejillo Group Inc." already produce a brand of sarsaparilla marketed under the name "Danny's Treparillias" that is fermented to a 4% BVE alcohol, asked about his intentions with the investment into hockey answered, "It's hard to say if this will be a brewery with a hockey team, or a hockey team with a brewery. I guess it depends on your vantage point. All I can tell you is that I love both hockey and sarsaparilla".

Danny Trejo announces his bid for the franchise under the Trejillo Group.

Texas already has a VHLM team in Houston, so it makes sense to have a mother team in the VHL that can draw from that local talent. Houston Bulls are currently 5th in the VHLM and have rising stars in players like @Dalton Wilcox, @frescoelmo, @JeffD, @Sixersfan549.

The initial investment is rumored to be $650 million out of which $350-400 million is expected to be put up by Trejo, and the rest by other investors.

Ruth Tobias notes that Sarsaparilla evokes images of "languid belles and parched cowboys". It was a popular soft drink during the 19th century in USA and can be fermented.

The main color for jerseys will be a orange or dark red to go with the berries and history, with elements of white and black. Meanwhile the logo should speak to the history of Texas and the history of cowboys, with several concepts being considered, from just berries to cattle, cowboys and lone stars.

Concept of Amarillo colours and logo.

"It's a hard concept to marry", designer Martin McFly said shaking his head, "those small berries, alcohol, hockey and cowboys... But we think we may be able to do it. If not now, then in the future."

The franchise bid is one of two new ones to the VHL, both still to be decided on, even which continent they would appear on. But seeing how USA only have two teams, with Canada's three and Europe's five, it would make sense for at least one - if not both - being awarded to USA.

"USA has been neglected for too long in an almost scandalous manner," @Esso2264 offered, "we have by far the largest market, but only two teams. It's a travesty!"

    Logo concept for the franchise.

Amarillo is a city in the Texas Panhandle. It’s a gateway to the vast, trail-lined Palo Duro Canyon State Park, which would make it perfect to host a hockey team, and also grow the city and its Sarsaparilla sales.

"The local community here has really rallied behind our bid", Trejo smiled, "I really hope the commissioners give us the chance we deserve, and that the process is honest and fair."

The decision is not expected until after the current season is concluded and many other cities are in the running all over the world. Some of the top-runners are considered to be Chicago, Denver and a city in Florida for USA. For Europe Berlin, Oslo and Reykjavik has been mentioned. And for Asia, Hong Kong and Chiang Mai are strong runners. No teams in Africa as of yet.

Dalton Wilcox reacted to Elmebeck in Houston Bulls clinch playoff spot
After 5 W 3 L 2 OTL in their last ten games, Houston Bulls have mathematically secured a playoff spot. The impetus now is to increase in standings, and perhaps position to match a higher level team that can be beaten in the first round, or even to be the top dog for the first round matchup.

@Dalton Wilcox scores the game winner against San Diego Marlins in OT.

The team is currently fifth in both power play and penalty killing, and a better yield there could certainly help them, experts say.

"Several of their OTL games and some of their losses are certainly to blame on the mediocre power play," a CBS analyst and talking head had to say in an analysis, "just one or two PP chances would have turned those games into their favor. Their PK is also not top notch, but the PP I think would pay bigger dividends."

Recent additions to the Bulls have been defenceman @frescoelmo and left-winger @Viperxhawks19 who have nicely evened out the squad, for this and next season. Meanwhile @Dalton Wilcox has been on a hot streak since mid-season, currently tied for goals in the league with 42 and fourth on points with 80 in 56 games.

GM @FrostBeard in a recent press conference offered, "I am very happy with where we are now, and we can focus on getting to the right place for a deep playoff run."

Houston Bulls also have three players in the upcoming WJC tournament, with @Sixersfan549 playing for Team Europe, @trevmi picked for Team USA and @Dalton Wilcox on the roster for Team World.

    Dalton Wilcox Delayed Draft Interview

Q: What was the overall experience like at the VHL draft?
DW:  It was a cool feeling, it’s been a long dream of mine to be drafted into the VHL since I started playing hockey.  The feeling of sitting in the stands waiting for your future to be determined was nerve wracking but thrilling at the same time.

Q:  You were expected to be drafted near the end of the third round, and that is exactly where you went (28th) overall.  How do you feel about that?
DW:  I’m just happy to be drafted you know?  Malmo had a lot of picks and I’m happy they decided to use one on me.  There was also a lot of a great players drafted ahead of me, so its’ nothing to be ashamed of.  I don’t have any grudges against any of the teams, but that being said, it’s going to put quite a chip on my shoulder.  I want to prove to myself and to the VHL that I should have been drafted higher and that I can be the best player in the draft.

Q:  A lot of your teammates from the San Diego Marlins were drafted early and ahead of you.  How do you feel about that?
DW:   I’m honestly very happy with them.  Lincoln Tate was one of the dominant defenseman in the VHLM last season and going first overall was well deserved.  Phil Marleau was also a dominant two-way force for us and it was no surprise to see him going third overall.  I would not be surprised to see these guys have great seasons in the VHL as rookies.

Q:  How do you feel about joining the Malmo Nighthawks?
DW:  Like I said, I’m happy joining any VHL team but I couldn’t be more excited to join Malmo.  I am reunited with my San Diego teammate Phil Marleau.  From my discussions with Malmo’s management team, they seem very excited to have me on board.  Although I will be spending my draft plus one season in the VHLM, they and I believe it is the best place for me to continue to grow as a player and to develop my all around game.

Q: What lies ahead this season for Dalton Wilcox?
DW:    In the VHLM I was drafted by the Houston Bulls.  I was told by their GM that I am expected to be one of their top players and go to guys this season.  This is a role I am happy with and willing to take on in my final season in the VHLM.  I see myself being one of the top goal scorers and point getters in the league this season.  I learned a lot in my initial season in the VHLM with San Diego and will be willing to pass on some of that knowledge to my newer teammates.  A lot of my teammates have also been drafted into the VHL so we have a great core group to build around and I think that we can challenge for the VHLM championship this season.

    Early Life:
Dalton Wilcox was born in Hong Kong to a travelling rodeo clown father and a barmaid mother, whom his father met after one of his travelling shows.  Soon after he was born, Wilcox’s father took him to the United States, which is where Dalton spent the majority of his life.  His father did not want to stay in Hong Kong to raise his son, and his mother did not want to leave for the United States.  Heartbroken, his mother decided to let Dalton go, hoping he would have a better life in North America.

After his father retired from the rodeo scene, he opened up a ranch where Dalton was put to work at an early age.  Dalton developed his speed at an early age, chasing after dogs that were on the ranch, and eventually chasing horses.  He developed his hands by milking cows.  He developed his shot by building up his forearm muscles by wrangling cows and other small animals.  He really developed into a physical specimen at a young age.  He helped his father build fences and with other minor construction around the ranch.

Seeing Dalton full of energy and being physically strong, his father decided to put him into hockey.  Right away, Dalton was a natural on skates.  He was a man amongst literal boys.  His speed, strength and shot were all at another level compared to his peers.  However, his hockey IQ left much to be desired.  His father, being a rodeo clown, knew nothing about hockey.  He was unable to guide Dalton on the smaller aspects of the game, but he was his biggest cheerleader and tried to attend every one of Dalton’s games.

At school, Dalton was known as the “gentle giant”.  Despite being more physically developed than the other kids, he was never a bully.  In fact, he was known for helping out kids who were being bullied, by standing up to the bullies.  Although Dalton was popular in school and was succeeding in sports, he felt something was missing from his life.  Other kids had two parents to return home to every day, and often talked about life at home.  Dalton’s mother was still in Hong Kong and Dalton had no memory of her.  Although his father did a fine job of raising him, he was missing a maternal presence in his life.

    High School/Junior Hockey:
At the age of 15, Dalton was drafted into the USHL by the Waterloo Black Hawks.  At Waterloo, Dalton played with a young phenom known as Brock Boeser.  Here, they partnered up to light up the USHL.  Dalton started to model his game after his good friend and linemate, by focusing on being the goal scorer he can be.  It was a success, and the duo combined for 80 goals before Boeser moved on to the University of North Dakota.  Dalton took on more of a leadership role after Boeser left and continued to grow his goal scoring prowess, tallying 50 goals in his next season.   VHL scouts started to take an interest in Dalton as more and more scouts started attending his games.   Unfortunately, after running into the powerhouse UNTDP team in the semi finals, Dalton’s junior career with the Black Hawks was over.

During high school Dalton was diligent in his studies and continued to work hard on all things that were going on his life.  If he wasn’t going to make it in hockey, at least he would be able to go to university.  He was particularly interested in economics, having been fascinated by the movie “Wolf of Wall Street”.  If hockey wasn’t going to work out, he would be pursuing a career on Wall Street as an investment banker.

Most of his time was spent either on his studies, playing hockey, or working on the ranch.  His time growing up in the ranch instilled a work ethic in him that was that could also be attributed to his father.  In the summers, Dalton continued to work with his father on the ranch.  He started to ramp up the physical activity as he saw that he can make hockey a career.  He started to physically lift up small animals and carry them to the other parts of the ranch.  He built and repaired fences completely on his own.  He learned how to operate heavy machinery and was soon plowing fields all by himself.

However, Dalton felt something was missing from his life.  Dalton had worked so hard and developed a tough exterior, both physically and mentally.  Was it love that he was missing?  Perhaps it was the absence of a mother in his life.  He didn’t know much about his mother other than that his father met her in Hong Kong and she never left with him to the United States.  Why didn’t she come?  Did she know who he was?  Would she even recognize him if he saw him?  These questions haunted Dalton and caused him to have a lot of sleepless nights.  As he got older,  Dalton made it his mission that one day he would be able to earn enough money to travel back to Hong Kong in order find his mother, whether it was through hockey or other means.

    Beginning Professional Hockey:
Dalton was drafted into the VHLM at the tender age of 17.  He knew that this was just the start of something big. Having had success at all levels of minor hockey, Dalton, his coaches and father knew that he would be destined for success. He knew his strengths as a goal scorer and physical player, but he also knew that there was a lot of work to be done.  Defensive play, playmaking, making use of teammates were all things that Dalton could still grow in his game.   He knew that his work ethic instilled in him from his upbringing will carry him to a long and fruitful career.

Will Wilcox fulfills his destiny as one of the VHL’s best players?  Will Wilcox ever find his mother and find the love that has been missing from his life?  Stay tuned.

Dalton Wilcox reacted to Elmebeck in Elmebeck calls out Halifax 21st players
The uncharacteristically vocal Swede, (D) Elmebeck, called out several players on Halifax 21st prior to the upcoming meeting in VHLM game #136.

"@SparrowLTD,  @caltroit_red_flames, @Dtayl and @studentized will have no chance to get by me while I am on the ice. Also what's with eight right wingers on one team?! GM @Thranduil should probably look at adding a C or two too!"

While obvisouly tongue in cheek the young defenceman has been stirring up emotions between the two teams, interrupting a Halifax 21st press conference last week by waving a placard that read "Halisux 21st Dumb Street".

Halifax 21st and Houston Bulls are currently 4th and 5th respectively, with only two points separating them at this time - by game 136 they will both have played six more games.

Dalton Wilcox got a reaction from FrostBeard in (VHLM) Houston Bulls - Wilcox Fires Back!
After hearing Frederik @Elmebeck's comments in the media, Wilcox had this say after practice today:

"Yeah, I had a slow start to the season, but who does Elmebeck think he is?  He's just a second pairing defenseman, and I'm supposed to be the star of this team!  That guy is just a liar and a bad element in the locker room".

Wilcox has picked up his game recently with 5 points in his last 3 games, and he is looking to keep up that pace for the rest of the season.

"I feel great about my game and the points are starting to come.  But I can't be a one-man show you know?  I need some better linemates that can keep up!!  If @FrostBeardgets me some better linemates, you'll see me near the league leaders in scoring, but hey that's not my job to find myself better linemates.  I"m here to do what I do best and to help make my teammates better."

When is GM @FrostBeardgoing to step in?  Is he going to do anything or just let this play out now that Wilcox has called out his GM?  Stay tuned...
