mattyIceman got a reaction from GreenGato in VSN Presents: Season 75 Future Watch!
Another draft has come and gone, but it isn't time yet to check to see what's happening with the next draft yet...

It's time for the Season 75 Future Watch series, where we dive into how last seasons draftees are doing!  We will be grading every team's prospect pool as well as some commentary!

Furthermore, I would like to introduce to VSN's brand-spankin' new scouting associate, @fonziGG!  Here, I'll turn it over to him now

Fonzyy:  Hello everyone! It's a pleasure to join the VSN Scouting and I hope to bring some great scouting content for you.
Mattyy:  Anyways, as we all know, each team in the VHL has some rookies from the draft and we wanted to bring attention to how each organization has changed.
Fonzyy:  Oh for sure, so many prospects with promise were selected in this draft.
Mattyy:  Do you also think that this draft in particular will be talked about in the coming seasons as a turning point for some franchises?
Fonzyy:  Definitely. I think every single team has positively benefited from this draft and I'm personally excited to see how this affects our future as a league. What did you think about this draft?
Mattyy:  Very deep, not top-heavy.  Plenty of talented players and members to add on to our great league and community.  What's great about this draft is that a later round pick could end up being a stud
Fonzyy:  I'm excited! Would you like to start on our first team?
Mattyy:  Yeah, let's dive right into it!

Matty's Grade: 6       @Jubis Fonzi' Grade: 6       PROSPECT USER AGENCY TPA Calgary already cleaned up real good in the Season 74 draft, trading futures to load up last season. Having only one pick in the very deep Season 75 draft, GM Ryan Jubis selected centerman Christopher 106th overall in the 7th round. This doesn't mean they don't have solid prospects to groom into the big league. The biggest conundrum here is the two goalie prospects in Jacob Carson amd Michael Olson. Both are having career seasons with Philadelphia and San Diego (respectively), but, with LaFontaine currently still kicking it with a huge season with Askarov playing lights-out as the backup and quite possibly the heir apparent, these goalies may have trouble cracking their lineup. Sniping winger Daddy Derek looks real good with Yukon, he's on pace to set personal highs with his production and should be up in Calgary next season. Chris Foley with Mexico City may be ready to move up next season as well, but possibly another season to bank could benefit him and Calgary as well. (S74) C - chris foley, Mexico City @Firekiss 195 (S75) C - Christopher, Ottawa @CNODS 124 (S74) LW - Daddy Derek, Yukon @DirtyDerek 200 (S74) LW - Dale Miller @Briedaqueduc 117 (S74) LW - William Shakespeare II @Corgi34 160 (S74) G - Jacob Carson, Philadelphia @jacobcarson877 250 (S74) G - Michael Olson, San Diego @MSO94 218             Matty's Grade: 9       @JeffD Fonzi's Grade: 8       Chicago sure loaded up on prospects last season, making seven selections in the Season 75 draft. GM Geoff Dee nabbed the controversial, but coveted, defensive brothers L and R. L made his debut with Chicago this season, while R got the call up after four games with the Mississauga Hounds. Their presence is already being felt playing together on the 2nd pair. As for their deep prospect pool, goalie prospect Kloxified is having a down year in Yukon so far but will backup JP Camus next season. Winger Darius Marimoto, centermen Jordan Tate and Steve Eso are all enjoying career seasons with their teams and should be ready for depth roles next season. Defenseman YK Cloudera is having a down season so far but has the tools to occupy a spot on the S76 Chicago squad in a depth role. S75 draftee Maksym Jankowski needs time to develop and should be ready for Season 77, while Jankowski is in danger of loosing his spot due to inactivity. PROSPECT USER AGENCY TPA (S74) RW - Darius Marimoto, Philadelphia @dariusmarimotoman 227 (S75) C - Jordan Tate, Mississauga @Aye my name jeff 220 (S75) LW - JT Thrash @Thrash94Gaming 62 (S75) LW - Maksym Jankowski, Minnesota @Max12 153 (S75) LW - New Player, Mississauga @I'll change this later 149 (S75) C - Steve Eso, Saskatoon @Eso 214 (S74) D - Yuuto Kira Cloudera, San Diego @kentakira 206 (S74) G - Kloxified, Yukon @Kloxified 249             Matty's Grade: 7       @Enorama Fonzi's Grade: 6       PROSPECT USER AGENCY TPA DC has been riding a strong wave for a long while now and continued that trend walking into the Season 75 draft without a first-round pick. DC selected their first pick in the Season 75 draft in the second round, deciding to grab Ove Dyrdahl from the Halifax 21st. Dyrdahl was immediately placed onto the 2nd pairing alongside the coveted rookie 29th pick from Season 74, Jackson Philliefan. As for the rest of their prospects, Theodore Hoffman is playing his third year in the minors and spends this season on Miami and has been a major threat posting near point per game production with some expectations to join the roster next season. Kjell Nilsson is spending this season in Philadelphia and has been phenomenal for them in a depth scoring role. Even though he's been a depth piece in Philadelphia, there's no doubt that he's got what it takes to play in the VHL next season. Logan Hoffman and Evgeni Shevkov are poised to have strong seasons this year and may push in for a depth role next season while IAmMarkour and Dwayne Gretzly are in danger of losing their place in the organization due to inactivity. (S75) D - Dwayne Gretzly @Dwayne Gretzly 74 (S75) C - Evgeni Shevkov, Las Vegas @Syzygy 164 (S75) D - IAmMarkour @Markour 112 (S75) C - Kjell Nilsson, Philadelphia @glass 178 (S74) LW - Logan Hoffman, San Diego @nickthe00 172 (S73) D - Rick Osman, Halifax @dylanjj37 247 (S74) C - Theodore Hoffman, Miami @snackhero 190       Matty's Grade: 9       @GustavMattias Fonzi's Grade: 7       Davos hasn't had much luck with depth prospects in the past, a good chunk of prospects electing to not continue their VHL careers or pursuing other interests, but this past draft has been very beneficial to the Dynamo. With both their 3rd and 9th overall picks, they got two studs in Kunibuni UnGuri and Taro Tsujimoto. Both players are playing in Davos now and are putting up respectable numbers. So far, prospects from the Season 74 and 75 drafts have continued on and do look like they have some promise. S74 draftees, centerman Jim Allen and Piero Angela could finally be playing bigger minutes for Yukon and Saskatoon (respectively) in S76, and look to be VHL ready in S77. Season 75 pick Martin Master is having a breakout season with Miami on defense, and developing quickly; he looks ready to play next season with the Dynamo. Winger Thomas King looks on pace to be very close to the cap, but it's still too soon in the season to tell if he's going to be VHL ready by next season. Winger Vladimir Mlinksi, defenseman Not A Player and goalie Piero Angela could all benefit from another season in the VHLM to round out their games and enjoy plenty of ice time. Grayson Slansky still has a ways to go before being pro-ready but time will tell if he can turn a corner. PROSPECT USER AGENCY TPA (S75) D - Derek Redmarsh, Yukon @greywolf139 164 (S75) RW - dickzy @dickzy 107 (S71) LW - Gino Alkamino @ChaceT 159 (S75) C - Grayson Slansky, Halifax @GSlansky 109 (S74) C - Jim Allen, Yukon @jimmyallen93 179 (S72) LW - Joe Exotic @Joe Exotic 181 (S75) D - Martin Master, Miami @Martin Bradac 221 (S75) D - Not A Player, Houston @Nope488 173 (S72) LW - Riley Walker @GlowyGoat 65 (S75) RW - Thomas King, Philadelphia @Duddy 189 (S72) C - Turner McHugh @Turner 168 (S75) LW - Vladimir Mlinski, Houston @Brrbisbrr 180 (S74) G - Piero Angela, Saskatoon @Minermonkey 165             Matty's Grade: 9       @Jubo07 Fonzi's Grade: 9       PROSPECT USER AGENCY TPA Helsinki has been very efficient at the draft. Helsinki has spent their picks on players that have been developing extremely well. Chase Crosby, Dan Dan, Gustav Hjalmarsson, and Vick Fairchild are all anticipated to be joining the VHL roster in Season 76, they've all been developing extremely well, and there must be a powerful development system in Finland. Kate Upton, the beautiful model, has been a strong female presence in Halifax with the expectation that she will be moving to Finland pretty soon. Trent Gibson looks like a strong goalie prospect in Houston alongside a strong winger in Jon Webber who has been an absolute machine. Both are expected to be on the roster next season which poises a question for the Helsinki GM since so many players look poised to join the team. Victor Foles, Luke Spinelli, Jonny Pacheco, and Edward Kenway could be on the roster in either Season 77 or Season 78 based on their development curves considering both of them have a long way to go to make the big show. (S74) D - Chase Crosby, Las Vegas @Wreckening 247 (S75) RW - Dan Dan, Mississauga @MMFLEX 250 (S75) LW - Edward Kenway, Halifax @Edgy Mcedgelord 120 (S75) D - Gustav Hjalmarsson, Mississauga @McLovin 235 (S75) C - Jonny Pacheco, Yukon @jpach 161 (S75) RW - Jon Webber, Houston @Webberj 196 (S74) D - Kate Upton, Halifax @OscarTheSwagDude 215 (S75) LW - Vick Fairchild, Yukon @GreenGato 230 (S75) RW - Victor Foles, Saskatoon @Suzuki14 187 (S75) G - Luke Spinelli, Mississauga @Lspinelli 100 (S75) G - Trent Gibson, Houston @Caboose30 195             Matty's Grade: 7       @McWolf Fonzi's Grade: 8       London is one of the younger teams in the league considering they are one of the newer expansion teams. Kevin Malone and Kasper Kankkunen are the new shiny pieces in the British Capital. They have been playing extremely well with Kankkunen scoring nearly at a point per game basis and Malone boasting 4 shutouts. Maksim Yakolevsky and Kelly Power have been improving as the seasons have been going on and both of them should be on the London roster come Season 76. There's some major excitement in Miami for Nathan Perry as both VHL and VHLM scouts anticipate this player to be a huge piece for London in the future. John Strider has a long way to go to make it to the VHL but there's significant potential in him becoming a big piece in London. Finally, Tee Pee E II is a player that could be a depth defenseman in the VHL. It will be fun to see their path to the big show.

PROSPECT USER AGENCY TPA (S73) C - Antti Paakkarinen @SeamusSv 78 (S75) C - Hendrix Cobberson @Hendrix Cobberson 91 (S75) LW - Jon Strider, San Diego @Strider 175 (S75) RW - Kelly Power, Las Vegas @Nordin 214 (S74) LW - Maksim Yakolevsky, San Diego @Nepto 245 (S75) LW - Nathan Perry, Miami @tinafrombobsburgers 208 (S74) D - Tee Pee E II, Yukon @Goliathus 225 (S73) D - Tim Kamashev @Ninjaboi 85 (S75) G - Alexis Luke @Mikael Kent 102             Matty's Grade: 7       @Josh Fonzi's Grade: 7       PROSPECT USER AGENCY TPA The LA Stars are one of the four expansion teams from Season 73, and this season they finally filled their prospect pool. 1st overall pick from S75 Draft, Pistil Stamen is having a decent rookie season on an otherwise weak LA team. Fellow 1st round selection, centerman It's Gucci, 3rd round winger Pekko Viitanen and 4th round pick, defenseman Bob Tristan, should make their debuts in Los Angeles next season. Longer term project players fill out the Stars' prospect pool in the later rounds. Yukon defenseman Olof Samuelsson and Nathan Steele might be ready for season 77, question marks revolve around defenseman Zachary Sirois and winger Kikko Moskinen though. Their development is recently brought into question though, but hopefully they can turn it around sooner than later. (S75) D - Bob Tristan, Philadelphia @N0HBDY 193 (S75) C - Its Gucci, Las Vegas @frescoelmo 250 (S75) LW - Kikko Moskinen, Mexico City @MikkoKoskinensMistress 106 (S75) C - Nathan Steele, Mexico City @73MPL4R 164 (S75) D - Olof Samuelsson, Yukon @Azlan 134 (S75) LW - Pekko Viitanen, Philadelphia @Xdjk93 197 (S75) D - Zachary Sirois, Houston @Zach386 140             Matty's Grade: 3       @FrostBeard Fonzi's Grade: 5       Malmo hasn't had much of a prospect pool to boast of in the past few seasons, but they got a steal in the 3rd round of the Season 75 draft, VHL-ready goalie Artem Tretiak with the 39th selection. He's already played decently in a backup role, so with time he will surely improve. Winger Carson Walkers and centerman Kevin Sterk look to be finally ending their VHLM tenures and moving up to the big team next season, while 7th round selection William Marquis has quite a long way to go, possibly season 77 or 78 at his rate. PROSPECT USER AGENCY TPA (S74) RW - Carson Walkers, Philadelphia @Cwalker 243 (S73) C - Kevin Sterk, Yukon @TenZi 241 (S75) LW - William Marquis @Willmarks8 101             Matty's Grade: 6       @Victor Fonzi's Grade: 7       PROSPECT USER AGENCY TPA Moscow comes into this season with their first-round pick, Rara Rasputin, taken with the 16th pick and has been impressive in his rookie campaign. The rest of their prospects seem to be fantastic depth options and look to have a long development curve before they hit the league. Alex Zouzouambe looks like a great player but needs to continue working on his game as recently he's stagnated a bit. Anthony Suzuki, Grapes, Owen Taylor, Patrik Ipsen, and Vincent Correll are all growing at a very steady rate and are impressing every single day as they're serious about their development plan. It looks like they will be able to join the roster in Season 77. Breeze Ladrian has been impressive in recent weeks and looks poised to join the team potentially in Season 77. (S74) RW - Alex Zouzouambe @BigZouzou 178 (S75) RW - Anthony Suzuki, Mexico City @Anthony Suzuki 157 (S74) D - Breeze Ladrian, Las Vegas @Kelsier 165 (S75) RW - Grapes, Minnesota @Grapes-Tophat_Clan- 136 (S75) LW - Owen Taylor, Miami @Owen Taylor 141 (S75) C - Patrik Ipsen, Ottawa @BiPsen 129 (S75) D - Vincent Correll, Las Vegas @correllvincent 108             Matty's Grade: 8       @Esso2264 Fonzi's Grade: 9       New York definitely racked in their future haul of prospects in the Season 75 draft, making eight selections, with four of those in the first two rounds. RJ Thatcher was GM Esso Drunkmann's top selection at 5th overall. He's been very good playing for Mexico City the past two seasons, however his progress lately has somewhat stunted. Here's hoping he finds his touch soon so he could be an impact player for New York Americans in the near future. With their second round picks, the added THREE solid defensive prospects in Cowboy Prout, Chikn Wing and Shawn Andrei Zyuzin, with Zyuzin currently playing his rookie season with the Americans. Season 74 draftees Peter Louis II and Gabriel Johnson are looking to end their VHLM careers at season's end and both of them are showing pretty decent upside so far. Miami Marauder goalie Thadius Sales was a 3rd round pick in last season's draft and could jump up the Americans' depth chat very quickly if he continues to progress at his current rate. He's proving he could be a steal for the Americans at 36th overall. Halifax winger Ramarod Ramirez still has some work to do and could be a dominant player in the VHLM next season to round out his game and be VHL-ready by season 77. Robert Bouchard, Dominic Gobeil, and Theodore James St Louis are all looking poised to join the roster next season as they have been very impressed with their VHLM teams. Silas LeFriend has been showing a lot of potential as well with 37 points in 39 games. Braxton Hunter also looks like a brilliant pick by the Phantoms as he's got some great potential and potentially joining in Season 77. Benjamin Lechance and Bep are also long term projects for the organization as they may join the roster in Season 77 or Season 78. Ernie King looks to be surging up recently with his play. If he continues this trend, he'll be on the roster sooner rather than later. Joakim Lund, Secel Keller, and The Blob look poised to be joining the Phantoms in the far future. Michael Fletcher has been impressive and might be fighting for the starting spot sooner rather than later. Star talent like Kyl Oferson, season 74 scoring champion Patrik Tallinder and defensive mainstay Guy Saskamoose were traded away, while both defensive legend Lincoln Tate and elite goalie Greg Eagles retired after spending their careers in Riga, winning the Continental Cup in season 72. Riga amassed a grand total of EIGHTEEN selections, five in the first round and nine in the top two rounds. Only two players from the first round made the Riga squad this season, winger Joe Kelly and goalie Sirkants Klamasteris. Although the team has been completely gutted, their group has managed well in those circumstances. Zeptenbergs' picks show massive promise, though. He nabbed quick rising stars Cabe McJake, Addison McLaren and Dolant Fertitta and they are all enjoying great seasons so far. Second round picks Justin Lose, Linus Zetterstrom, Artair McCloud and Vivek Weiner would already be ready to jump up to Riga next season as well. Futher down their draft list are other quick forwards: Philadelphia Reapers centerman Isau DaMoose and Vegas winger Connor Sim could certainly make the Reign squad as well. Longer term project players like defensemen Teppo McBighit and Jared Carter, wingers Andy Nexber, Eddie Dams, Liam Fischl and centerman Nikolas D'Andrea complete Riga's prospect haul and a ridiculously solid foundation for the future. Longtime Riga prospect Matt Thunder finally looks ready to make the jump up after three-plus seasons in the VHLM, bolstering Riga's defensive depth. With his first selection in round three, he stole Ryan Ryker who was still available. He was originally was projected to be a late-first round pick, but he fell for god-know-what reason. He's at a point-per-game pace playing for Miami, so he willl be joining Seattle next season if all goes as planned. Defensemen Franz Ferdinand and Logan Moore are having productive seasons in their first full seasons, if they keep up their progress they could be ready for season 77, along with Vegas backup Aksu Maronen. Winger Gaspar Zagrevsky and dman Jackson Richard might need two more seasons with Miami and Houston respectively to achieve VHL potential. Sunderbrunch, Leo Strauss, and Wolf Weiss are all in their rookie season for Toronto and have been impressive. Jolly Greene Giant and Scotty Kaberle are both looking like incredible picks and Toronto has shored up their defense for the foreseeable future. This pairing is looking poised to be an incredible duo for the future. Toronto will be a defensive powerhouse in no time. John Callahan Jr is also looking poised to be a brilliant scorer and will be joining the roster in Season 76. Jason Beuregaurd and Jackson Wilson both are long term projects but will be great depth pieces for Toronto. Toronto's core is looking to move back into contention pretty soon with this youth movement. We might see Toronto aiming for a goalie via trade or draft just to complete the rebuild. Vancouver has a young forward in Riley Couture who is making a splash in their rookie season. Not only that, prospects such as Florent Vericel, Sheldon Juniper, Jakob Sosa, and Markus Emerson Jr. are all poised to earn places on next season's roster. Clinton Giftopolous, Paul Webber, and Michael Schmitdt all seem to be contending for roster spots in Season 77 so it seems like Vancouver has a lot cut out for them for giving these young players roster spots. Mando Blatsyuk, Fongs Son, Roger Jone, Louis Louchard and Aivars Kiris are all looking like fantastic depth to fight for spots between Seasons 77 to 79 where they all look determined to improve. Haydon Learmonth was looking like a brilliant prospect who has since seen his stock fallen in the minors. Vancouver looks like they have a plethora of potential within their development program. GM Damien Walec picked up his player, defenseman Muffbeav with the 13th overall pick. Muffbeav is having a very good rookie season so far with the Predators and could be the franchise defenseman going forward. Another interesting prospect drafted in the second round at 19th overall is centerman Nero Endrizzi. He's having a career season with the San Diego Marlins and could fit nicely in a depth role for the Predators next season. Winger Blim Blam McFluble could be ready for next season as well, but his progress may hinder him a bit, he could benefit from another season with the Philadelphia Reapers to improve his game. Defenseman Kevin Wu looks like he will be VHL-ready next season, as he is enjoying alot of success this season with the Mexico City Kings. Goaltending prospect Mike Sterling is playing alot of games for Halifax this season, however his progress is slower, but steady. He might be ready for a backup job next season. Centermen Bradley Senjo and The Great are longer term projects that are hopeful for more seasoning in the VHLM, along with goaltender Jonathan Bustard. Bustard may need two more seasons in Mexico City to fully develop into a VHLer. Winger Angel Wachiure is a bit of a question mark, his progress has been spotty and risks not panning out for the Predators.

I think that speaks to the quality of our new and returning members. Unfortunately I could only pick one. I appreciate the time all applicants took to answer my questions and demonstrate their interest in the position.

    1. All games will be played on www.chess.com. Please go into the spreadsheet and add your Username.

    2. Games will either be a 10-minute Rapid Game or a 24-hour Daily Game. This way timezones won't mess with our mojo.
       a) The 24h games go on the honour system. Don't be a dink and don't cheat.
       b) You should play "unranked" games (@cole no free ELO 4 u). Decide before the game whether you will "allow takebacks" (if you're friends or in group D, it's a great option)

    3. Each group will have a Round Robin which will lead to a Playoff Round.

    4. Each player in each group will play each other a minimum of 1 times and a maximum of 3 times (cuz chess is fun and we all actually want to play it).

    5. If/when you play a player again, try to spread it out to a different day so you don't go on tilt and crush someone who's having a bad day.

    6. With the multiple games, standings will be based on Points% with tie-breakers going to straight wins.

    7. Playoff format TBD.

    8. The holidays are almost here so I don't think we want to infringe on those. Round Robin will end December 14 (10 days), and Playoffs will end by December 20 (7 days).

    9. Heckin' have fun.

mattyIceman reacted to solas in VHL Reverse Retro, Part 1: European Conference
VHL REVERSE RETRO, PART ONE: EUROPEAN CONFERENCE

The VHL doesn’t have much of a history with jerseys.  As is the case with many sim leagues, teams don’t have official uniform designs due to the sim’s text-based nature.  The closest we get to “seeing” our players or teams is in forum signatures, player cards, or the images selected for media spots.  Occasionally you’ll see some more graphically-inclined GMs post “official” jersey designs, or creative members posting their own ideas for what VHL jerseys would look like.

As someone who holds an interest in jersey design, I’ve always thought about trying my hand at some kind of VHL jersey design but never really went through with it.  But recently, I was inspired to give it a try.  With the NHL’s Reverse Retro promotion recently happening in real life, I figured that would be a good launching pad to work from considering the VHL’s long and storied history.  So I’ve decided to make reverse retro jerseys for most of the league’s teams.  Most?  Yes, most.  Unfortunately for the purposes of this project, there is a decent number of teams in the VHL that have not been around for nearly as long as the others.  As a result, six teams will be excluded from this series (three in each conference) - Chicago, DC, London, Los Angeles, Prague, and Warsaw.  I may attempt some different kind of designs for these teams later, but for a Reverse Retro project there just isn’t enough to work from.

For this project, I also want to define “reverse retro”.  The NHL described their promotion as “throwback jerseys with modern twists” and that’s pretty similar to what I want to do here.  Of course, the lack of historical uniform designs in the VHL means I can’t necessarily make throwback jerseys - there aren’t really any old jerseys to throw back to.  Instead, I’m going to make jerseys inspired by VHL history in some way, but with a twist that would make them fit into what I would imagine each team’s current jersey set would be (they are still alternate jerseys).  Most of them are based on my interpretation of what the teams likely would’ve been wearing in the past, while others are a combination of multiple influences from the past.

Before I get into the designs, I’d also like to give a shoutout to two people:
@Sonnet, for both his “VHL Jersey Initiative” series of media spots as well as the incredibly useful SVG versions of the current VHL logos.
@Flames1Fan, for his recent jersey designs - in particular, the Stockholm Vikings jerseys which were my inspiration for this series.

Now, let’s get into the designs!

    HC DAVOS DYNAMO

While Davos hasn’t necessarily had much recent success, they are still one of the league’s most historic franchises ever since they moved to Davos in Season 11.  The team went on to win multiple cups in each of the next three decades: two in the 10s, three in the 20s, three in the 30s.  The iconic and unique purple and black color scheme has stayed unchanged since the beginning - so naturally this jersey had to stick with it.  The logo on the front, designed by @Koradek, was put in place back in the early 20s when the league was starting to focus on having original logos for each team.  Five cups were won wearing that logo before it was changed to the current one.  On the shoulder is the original Davos logo, which I know is stolen but I just don’t know where from.

For the sake of media spots and signatures, members would often use the Los Angeles Kings as a base for the Dynamo.  As a result, I imagine the Dynamo jerseys probably would’ve been very similar around that time, with the team mainly wearing black during that era.  Which is why I’ve made this jersey purple, in order to fit the “reverse retro” theme of adding a twist to a throwback.

The jerseys are black down the shoulders and arms, in order to create a nice balance of black and purple.  The Avs-inspired mountain stripe on the hem comes from the mountains that have always been in the team’s logo - a reference to the Swiss Alps.  The design also incorporates the silver from the old logos in order to both differentiate this jersey from the team’s current identity and to match the logos used.  The gradient I’ve used on the back numbers is meant to represent a metallic silver fabric - think the gold worn by Vegas in the NHL.

The name and number are in reference to Anton Brekker @DGFX., a hall of fame forward who spent seven seasons in Davos, where he won three cups and was captain of the back-to-back championship teams in Seasons 24 and 25.

    HELSINKI TITANS

Helsinki is another one of the league’s most historic teams, having been in the Finnish capital since Season 1 and being known as the Titans since Season 2.  So like Davos, there aren’t going to be many drastic changes in color or logo here.  In fact, if you didn’t look too closely at this design you’d probably think I’ve just used the same logo as their current one.  This is actually the team’s older logo, designed by Koradek (sensing a theme here?).  It was used by the team from the 20s to the 50s - a period during which the team found a large amount of success and was home to many well-known, successful members.

Like with Davos, I’ve designed this jersey to try and differentiate it from the team’s current identity.  Unlike with Davos, I’ve actually got uniforms to work with here.  Based on Sonnet’s media spot from just over a year ago, the team’s normal uniforms would be a lighter blue, with navy and silver as the accent colors.  So to complement that, the reverse retro jersey is navy, with the cream from the old logo used as an accent.  The stripes on the arms and waist come from the crest of the helmet in the logo and are used to add a little bit of uniqueness to what is a fairly traditional jersey.

The name and number are in reference to Ethan Osborne @STZ, who was selected first overall by the Titans in Season 30 before spending six of his seven VHL seasons in Helsinki during the team’s #caphell era, captaining the team to a Continental Cup in Season 34.

    MALMO NIGHTHAWKS

Surprise!  Despite being a part of the VHL for less than ten seasons and having the same logo for the whole time, the Malmo Nighthawks still have some history to work with - even if it isn’t technically their history.  As a country, Sweden has been represented in the VHL in the past.  The most notable of these representatives is the infamous Vasteras Iron Eagles (a.k.a. Vasteras IK), a team beloved by some and hated by others, and also used as the main inspiration for this reverse retro design.

I’ve also got home and away uniforms to work from, again thanks to Sonnet.  In this case, I’ve tried to keep a relatively similar design so it isn’t completely out of place stylistically, but as you can tell the colors have been changed dramatically. The blue and green Nighthawks logo has been recolored to match the Iron Eagles, whose logo is featured on the shoulders.  While Vasteras likely would’ve worn black (the Penguins and Bruins were both common choices for representatives), this jersey is yellow both to fit the theme of this series and for the sake of uniqueness.  You might notice one more aspect, though - red accents have been added on the sleeves, waist, and shoulders in a tribute to another Swedish VHL team.  The Stockholm Vikings, who moved from Vasteras in Season 41, kept the yellow and black but added red to their color scheme before being contracted from the VHL during the “dark ages” of the 50s.

The name and number are in reference to Scotty Campbell @scotty, quite possibly the best player to ever play in the VHL.  While Campbell only played for Vasteras for three seasons, he was captain for the team’s historic Season 1 Continental Cup win and found great success with the team.

    MOSCOW MENACE

Red, you ask?  Yes, red.  I promise I have a reason for this.  Moscow is in a similar boat to Malmo, with a decent amount of history from other teams to work with despite having been in the league for only a short period of time.  It’s not nearly as much as our previous team, however.  Russia’s under-representation in the VHL was a topic of conversation for a long time until the Menace joined as an expansion team in Season 65.  The Avangard Havoc, despite their name, played in Omsk as the league’s first Russian team, and after the Havoc moved to Davos the country wouldn’t have a representative until the Moscow Red Wolves joined the VHLM in Season 37.

Other than being the only two teams to play in Russia, the Havoc and Red Wolves have another common thread: their color schemes.  Both teams wore red, black, and silver, which is the color scheme for this jersey.  I’ve tried to take more of an influence from the Red Wolves in this case, however, as they played in the same city as the Menace.  Unfortunately, there was a jersey design made by the team’s original GM but the image has been lost so I was unable to use it for inspiration.  Instead, I’ve tried to imagine something like what a Red Wolves jersey would have looked like, except with a Menace logo.  The number font and style is influenced by the wordmark that was a part of @boubabi's design, while the striping is just me trying to come up with something unique that would fit the team.

The name is in reference to Sandro Clegane @JardyB10, a hall of fame goaltender who played for the Red Wolves in the VHLM where he won a Devereux Trophy (top goalie) and a Rift Trophy (playoff MVP).  The number, 45, is a reference to the season when the Red Wolves won the Founder’s Cup.

    RIGA REIGN

Riga is one of the teams that has stuck with their current logo the longest - another Koradek design from the 20s, but this time one that has lasted to the present.  As a result, one has to dig back a bit further in order to pick a throwback logo for this jersey.  While I remember the team having a short-lived dragon head logo, the only other logo that the team used for a significant amount of time and found success with was unfortunately stolen from the ECHL’s Ontario Reign (who have since become the Kings’ AHL affiliate).  This was the team’s original logo after they moved from Stockholm to Riga in Season 9, and was also the logo worn when the franchise won its first ever cup in Season 10.

Given that the Reign were the only team in the VHL to use orange until Warsaw joined, I imagine that Riga’s home jersey is probably orange.  So I’ve decided to choose navy as the main color for this uniform, and have relegated orange to third on the hierarchy of colors behind white.  The font for the numbers is inspired by the wordmark on the Ontario Reign’s main logo from that era, because if the logo is stolen I might as well use what I can to make things look more consistent.  I’ve also recolored Riga’s current logo to match the Ontario one and put it on the shoulders to make the jersey look more complete.

The name and number are in reference to Layken Heidt (Slobodzian_18), a hall of fame forward who spent all eight of his seasons with the franchise, including the team’s first season in Riga.  He was captain of the team for their first Continental Cup win and also featured in four European Conference-winning teams.

Thanks for checking out this article!   The North American teams’ jerseys will follow once I’ve finished claiming this article (and once I’ve finished making the jerseys).  Additionally, if people are interested I do have a possible idea for the six other teams that won’t be a part of the reverse retro series.

Over the recent days there have been several new members added to the team in Houston. Interestingly enough those players happen to also be some of the greatest conquerors the world has ever known, along with a structural wonder known far and wide.

First came Napoleon Bonaparte. The military emperor from France who rose to power during the French Revolution in the 1790s. He led the country over the course of 2 distinct reigns, one between 1804 and 1814 which saw the French Empire take dominion over the Holy Roman Empire, Spain, Italy, and nearly the rest of Western Europe. Of course reign would come to and end, but unexpectedly he rose to power once again for a total of about 4 months. Since then he has stayed in exile honing his hockey talents.

Next came Alexander the Great, king of ancient Greece and husband to three separate wives. As king of Macedonia and Persia he established the largest empire in the entire ancient world. It spanned all the way from Macedonia to India to Egypt. Truly an amazing amount of land to rule over in a single kingdom. It is believed that he died after the death of friend and lover Hephaestion passed away. In reality he has been living in northern Canada waiting for his moment to take the hockey world by storm.

There is of course the Mongolian Emperor Genghis Khan as well whose influence is seen throughout the entire world. His reign was only a short 19 years but in that time he pillaged and ruled over more than half of Asia's land. Following the split of the Mongol empire which saw wars of succession for Khan's throne there became a total of 5 different regions. Khan would spend the next 800 years training in the sport of hockey, never paying any mind to defense but always working scoring.

Lastly the literal Leaning Tower of Pisa has come to Houston to join the Bulls. Nobody knows how or even why it was compelled to come Houston, the tower just showed up outside the arena one day with a note stuck to it that said "I want to play hockey" -Tower of Pisa. Who in their right mind is going to deny that kind of star power and publicity? So the GM signed the Leaning Tower of Pisa and history was made with the first building to player in the VHLM!

The three conquerors sat together at a card table playing poker and reminiscing about their battles throughout history, congratulating each other on their exceptional empires and poking fun at Napoleon's short stature.

Khan: "You know there are 16 million descendants of mine throughout the world? That has to be some kind of a record."

Napoleon "Well not all of us a crazed sex perverts like you Genghis, some of us just wanted to create a large empire."

Alexander "Speak for yourself Napoleon, you're just salty cause you could find a woman to bend down low enough to reach your crumb."

Khan and Alexander gave out a heart laugh.

Napoleon "I swear it one day you'll push me just a little too far. And on that day I'll-"

Khan "You'll what, shorty? It's 2 against 1. 3 against 1 if you count our tower buddy"

Napoleon "You never know, there could be someone else joining our ranks soon. Another historical conqueror..."

The hair on everyone's arms started to stand tall. You could tell there was something wrong. It was something in the air. In the distance they heard it... A shouting from far away...

    "DEUTSCHE ERGEBENHEIT!"

    Khan "No. He's not allowed"

Alexander "Jesus Christ Napoleon fucking tell me you didn't invite him"

Napoleon "Hey I didn't do anything, he just showed up"

The Bulls also had to release their number 3 center Hendrix Coberson a few days ago and their backup goalie Alexis Luke today both for inactivity. With 3 holes in the roster Houston really needed to recruit some new guys and its exactly what they did. As of December, 2th, Houston can now rely on 6 new players who are for most of them named after legendary war leaders. I woke up this morning thinking about my next media spot, thinking to myself that I could do something about my player but who would care about some random VHLM player? Well, maybe my GM, my teammates, my parents, my grand-parents, my dog, the president of the united state and even Chuck Norris. Though, I prefer to be rude and not give that so wanted article about my futur HOF player... I know, I know, you are all so disapointed but I have something that will make you forget it. I spent a few hours, lurking on celebrities twitter, facebook, intagram and onlyfans. I also placed bugs in their house (keep that secret), interviewed their friends and sent 450$ to some nigerian prince (I'm pretty sure that was a scam though) and here I come. I finally got it, every VHL teams biggest famous fan. Grab your popcorn and your beer its gonna be a fun ride!

    1. Calgary Wranglers

    Steven Ogg

Thats right, Calgary's biggest fan is also the actor who has been used to create Trevor in Grand Theft Auto 5. From what I have learned, Steven has a tattoo of the derp horse on his belly and he is very proud to show it. He also got kicked out of the games quite a few times for agressive behavior, thats quite surprising, he seems to be such a gentleman.

    2. Chicago Phoenix

    Kanye West

Sometimes when Kanye West is not busy being horny with Kim Kadarshian he likes to watch some hockey. His favorite team always been Chicago since he is a little kid. Some say that he once joined a local league to be draft eligible and tried to bribe Chicago's manager to get drafted but the result has been as bad has when he tried to be the president of USA.

    3. DC Dragons

    Donald Trump

Can't believe I saved a picture of that man on my pc for that media spot... Anyway, for the D.C. Dragons, their biggest fan is none other than the former USA president Donald Trump. For almost forever we have been seeing his posts on twitter about the VHL and its always only positive if its the dragons, he has been trash talking every other teams especially Moscow for some reasons.

    4. HC Davos Dynamo

    Roger Federer

Roger is not only a good tennis player but he also secretly loves hockey and he will always cheer on the Dynamos like any guy proud of his country.

    5. Helsinki Titans

    Teemu Selänne

An NHL hall of famer as Helsinki's biggest fan? Yep! Selanne biggest regret of his career is that he never played in the VHL. When we interviewed him he said ''I had a great career, being among the best in the NHL history is surely an honor but the guys in the VHL seems to have so much fun, sometimes I regret my choice.''

    6. London United

    Emilia Clarke

The mother of dragons watch hockeys? Why is she not cheering for the dragons?? Well, the truth is that she got tired of being linked to every dragon stuff and decided to cheer for the team from her home city.

    7. Los Angeles Stars

    Snoop Dogg

For Los Angeles biggest fan, who else than the LA legend Snoop Dogg? Snoop Dogg's passion for sports is not unknown and everybody knows he always cheers for Los Angeles in any sport and any league. He even considered becoming an announcer for the stars next season but the league declined him for some drug related stuff...

    8. Malmo Nighthawks

    Pewdiepie

Malmo's biggest fan is the youtube legend Pewdiepie. Sometimes between two games of happy wheels, pewdiepie likes to watch hockey, you don't see it in his vids because he cut these parts. His favorite team of the VHL is the only sweden team because he is a proud sweden guy.

mattyIceman reacted to JigglyGumballs in Mexico City's Drug Cartel
So I get what you're saying. A non-Mexico player talking about Mexico? Well let's just say that we in Vegas are just as involved in this as Mexico is. This is probably something people already know about anyways. Mexico City has a drug cartel, or as @Hylands and @rory call it "Royalty." We all know that they sneak narcotics all across the VHLM to make a fortune apart from their hockey team. So why am I talking about this? Well you see, I wanna show you the process as to how Mexico it is now. The operations of the drug cartel from what I know. I'm not trying to expose Mexico in anyway, on the contrary actually. I wanna show people the level of complexity these operations go through. And if any other team wants to be involved, just fly down south and you can probably make a deal with Mexico.

Because Mexico City is in...Mexico, they needed to establish a hub in the US so they can sell their drugs on a mass scale in NA. That's where Las Vegas comes in. For a handsome amount of cash, Vegas purchases these drugs and acts as the middleman. Selling them across Vegas and everywhere else at a much cheaper price than what they bought. Some might ask, wouldn't Vegas just lose money if they keep selling the drugs for cheap and buying them from Mexico at a much higher price? For the most part, yes. However, that's where Yukon comes in. Yukon is known to have a good amount of gold, even after the initial gold rush. And along with the need of establishing a Canadian base of operations, Vegas struck a deal with Yukon. Giving them a larger share of Mexico's drugs in exchange for money/gold in order to pay for more of those drugs.

So in reality, the money gained from selling the drugs to the rest of NA is reused to buy more from Mexico, a cycle of narcotics where everyone gains something. Mexico gains money, Yukon gets a shit ton of drugs, and Vegas gets drugs and small profit from selling drugs. Without Yukon or Vegas, places like Ottawa and Houston, two of the biggest buyers due to their lack of success, would lose their connections, and thus Mexico loses in profits gained. Meaning that this cartel is dependent on this trio. Another thing of note is that sources tell me that a good chunk of the M league's budget is dependent on the profits of the Mexico City drug cartel.

I hope you enjoy my little insight on operations. We may not like Mexico in the playoffs, but at least we manage a good business relationship to ensure our success and the success of the league. And @MexicanCow123 and @fromtheinside too. Without your gold, we wouldn't be able to buy drugs and sell them for cheap.

Linus was saying that his family had lived in Sweden for as long as he could remember, and Andy was saying how his family has actually moved from Sweden to Canada around 75 years ago. Intrigued, the two of them began looking at their family trees, and discovered that their grandfathers were in fact brothers! Andy's grandfather, Jorge Zetterstrom, had decided with his wife, Hannah Nexber, to keep Hannah's maiden name, which is how this went undetected for so long. A Las Vegas reporter caught up with both Linus and Andy after they had found out.

Reporter: Well, Linus, what a surprise! You and Andy are cousins! What was going through your mind when you found out?

Linus Zetterstrom: Initially, it was just "whaaat? No way!" but now I think it's just pretty cool that we finally found out. I can't believe we didn't know for so long.

Reporter: Have you told your brothers yet? How about your parents?

LZ: The first person I actually called was my grandpa Gustav, who told me that Andy's grandpa, Jorge, was his brother. Grandpa is kind of forgetful, so I guess Jorge just disappeared from his mind. Then I called my parents and my brothers. They were sort of confused. Then I called my other cousin, Axel, because Andy is his cousin too. It's all been pretty fun.

Then we asked Andy the same questions.

Reporter: Well, Andy, what a surprise! You and Linus are cousins! What was going through your mind when you found out?

Andy Nexber: Well before I thought of Linus as a teammate, but now obviously I think of him as an older cousin

Reporter: Have you told your siblings yet? How about your parents?

AN: No, not yet, I might tell them soon though!
