Wow. I can't believe it's already Christmas.. time flies! Tomorrow is my last day in wonderful Brandon, Manitoba. I'm counting down the seconds so I can hop on a plane and head back to civilizations. Course went good! Got 98% on the exam today and was super hyped about that. VHL charity auctions have ended and I honestly was a little bummed about the event this year. Am I allowed to say that without someone thinking something negative about me? Honestly, probably not... I know it's for good and I know we give what we can at this time. Just didn't feel like the other years. Maybe it's because the VHL is quieter. That's a different topic for another article... Maybe the items sucked. League of Legends Skins flew off the shelves again and made something like $800 dollars. IDK if it's legit bids for items or people just tossing in a few $200 donations etc. Either way, while I don't do the League of Legends stuff, it's still going to a good cause. Let's just blab.
I'm actually a little disappointed the cold plunge got zero attention. I thought it would be a fun little event that the league could get excited about, have some laughs over and really come together to put me through pain. I'm sure some of you don't care for me and would love to see ice water dumped on me on one of the coldest days/nights of our Winter - but fortunately, you all are too kind. I talked it over with my partner and younger brother. I wanted to make a compilation video of a bunch of ice cold plunges, water bucket dumps and crazy, cold stunts etc. Something creative - idk. Something all in the fun spirit of VHL community and coming together to be happy, positive and do some good. $60/250 but $800 for league of legends and $22 for pizza. Big props to @Ricer13 and @Dom. They really tried to hype the charity stuff this holiday season. I do believe Seattle has already made a trade this off-season. Maybe two! It wasn't an easy one. It's still one I'm unsure about fully but that's the nature of the beast. I've thought about it a lot the last few days and am on the fence about whether or not my decision was right. Either way, the returns are good. Just depends what will come of it. Seattle needs some major shake ups and while I don't want to fully tear shit down and do it proper, if you cut corners, you eventually will crash.  Recruitment team is hiring and just in time. S92 draft? Pretty weak. Want my 3rd round picks? Nah. There's more value in a used floss stick. Want my 2nd? Barely a difference. Maybe 22-25 active players. The worst draft we've seen in quite some time. I think for the 93 draft, we could still see some join that class, but that ones looking even worse. Toss that in to a quieter VHL and we're looking at project player 2 again (right, SBA?). What can solve these issues? Better retention.  Better, more consistent recruitment. Better recruitment team. A look into the incentives we offer members for assisting in recruiting. 3 people can't do everything. The wheels drive the bicycle, but without the rest, it's just two separate wheels. DESTROY the VHLE. I really hate to be on this team. I always meme dunked it, but that's it. It's fine. Going through an extra league before the VHL does take away somewhat from the VHLM and VHL's experience imo, but even worse, it just makes shit drag out more because of it. Tons want to skip it, I'm certain the league is barely full, imo it takes away from turnover and VHL/VHLM rosters, no one likes it and it's just plain ass. The VHL to me is a boat in the water, with numerous holes and the duct tape you apply to stop the water from coming in is the VHLE. It's doing fuck all but slowing down the inevitable and that's sinking. We need to come together, recruitment team and all, give a shit and maintain the hedges a bit.

4. oooo this is a hard one. I love my yorkshire puddings. Roast potatoes, while not exclusively confined to xmas are a staple side dish. I love my pepper jelly on crackers snack and pigs in a blanket. Breakfast sausauges as well. Terry's chocolate Orange. OMg i must be missing something.
 
5. No gifts. You're all adults. Let's just buy ourselves what we actually want and save our time and money. For the kiddies, that's easy though. As online as possible.

There is no "favourite" They just come out at appropriate times like the time my father-in-law ask "Phil, did you get a haircut?" and I replied " no, I got them all cut!"  Etc. Dad jokes are all situationally based.

Heck, it's Day 4, and we've seen this coming for a little while. We've had two Town deaths, yes, but both were covered up by the MEDUSA--which means I haven't publicly announced a single Town death this game. Meanwhile, we've had evils drop left and right, even killing each other. And even a TRAPPER did something! Usually, that never happens in VHL games.
 
For the sake of formality, let's kill @Doomsday. He was, you guessed it, the MEDUSA and one of fairly few evils to have accomplished much. Heck, he was the only one to kill any Townies.

Yes, this was the shortest game we've ever seen. Yes, for all intents and purposes, it was boring. Yes, this is still Page 4 of the thread. We wanted a game to end by Christmas, and now that Christmas is just a week away, we certainly accomplished that mission.
 
I think it's also fair, though, to look at this in a couple different ways. None of the above should take away from the fact that this was one heck of a Town win. We also should never lose the importance of every chance we get to play ToS being a good break from reality and a nice, positive space where we can forget about all of our problems and get together on this weird little subforum in this weird little sim league and just have fun for the heck of it. It's why I thank all of you at the end of every game (as I'm doing here) for making a positive difference in each other's lives and letting them make one in yours.
 
But anyway...

   I am officially announcing my retirement as General Manager of the Calgary Wranglers. There are a few reasons as to why I have made this decision and now is the best time to take a step back from this role to better spend my time in other areas of the league and in my personal life.
 
    I hold a pretty high bar for myself when it comes to maintaining a certain level of activity for any locker room that I am in charge of. The day that became a chore is the day I knew it was time for a much needed break. I also live a super busy personal life and this has also made it harder to give the locker room my full attention.
 
    There is nothing to worry about in terms of my participation in the league. I still very much enjoy and love being apart of this league. I will have better focus on my player and the locker room I’m apart of there. I have my moderation gig that I’ll have more time to focus on and one day I do plan on stepping back into a GM role because it truly is a passion of mine.
 
    Lastly, thank you to all the GMs I have had a pleasure to work with since I’ve started, all the AGMs who have worked along side me over the seasons and the players who grinded it out and bought into the way I wanted things to run in Calgary. I am not going to ping everyone who’s been an important part of this journey, I think you all know who you are at this point.

He has been running the team behind the scenes this past season and has a really good handle on how things are going in Calgary. He also has a long history with the organization. I will respect whatever decision is made for my replacement.**

The sky crackles and a bolt of lightning shoots down, hitting @Da Trifecta. The last thing I'd like to do in any game is modkill for inactivity, but it's in the rules and it isn't quite fair to other players to have to work around it. Trifecta was the HEX MASTER, so a very merry Christmas to the Town, I suppose.
 
Now that that's out of the way, let's kill @GoodLeftUndone, the one who the town has actually chosen to remove. Based on what info has come to light, things have come together for the Town to lynch...
 
Next day phase begins in the morning because the morning is Monday. I'm disappointed by that but it is what it is. James Cook ftw
