I've actually been meaning to do the VHLM ones the same way I did all the VHL ones (see D.C.'s in my sig). Would people actually be interested?

DirtyDerek reacted to DMaximus in S70 Philadelphia Reapers Preview
Season 69 ended in disappointment for Reaper fans and players as they lost in the 1st round of the playoffs to Halifax 21st.  They’ve used the offseason to let go of the past and focus on the upcoming season. We had an opportunity to sit down with the Reapers’ GM, Domini Maximus, to find out her thoughts on her tenure and what she hopes Season 70 holds for the Reapers.

Q: What was the mood of the team like in the locker room after the Game 6 loss to Halifax?
A: I think we were all shocked more than anything. We were confident in our abilities, we had a strong team, we expected to win. I mean we had an excellent record against them in the regular season. Having all that come crashing down was a shock to the system to say the least.

Q: A 2nd straight season ending in disappointment for the team. Are fans losing patience with you?
A: I’m not sure I can speak for all the fans. I think it’s natural for fans to want us to win immediately and consistently so I get where they’re coming from. I want the same thing myself. 2 seasons ago we missed the playoffs, last season we made the playoffs. There’s clear improvement there and based upon the buzz this team is creating around the city, I think fans are really excited for what’s to come.

Q: Talk about that buzz, why is there excitement?
A: Just look at the roster. We’ve got stars like Bud Knight @Dilly Dilly, Griff Manzer @Garsh, Richard Fitzwell @Tomato Soup, Kyle Andersen @Cusemode, Jack Russell @quanack, and of course our fantastic goalie Isak Sjostrom @Austin2997, all returning. We had a great draft where we were able to pickup an absolute gem of a player in Jared Spaz @Spaz and we were able to draft fan favorite Derek Eriksson @DirtyDerek back to our team. He’s poised for an all-star year. We were also able to add talent in the later rounds, like Xavier leFlamant @BarzalGoat, who I think will be called a huge steal of the draft in any historical review. And we got up and comers in Justin Goatman @Goatman and Xavier Hills @inflastud.
To add to that, we were able to make a trade for Damien Wolfe @Laflamme. He’s shown he knows what it takes to win it all in his last season with Saskatoon. We’re glad to his experience and proven toughness on our team.
And we just completed a free agent signing of defenseman Aamon Grim @aCrypticPancake. Adding Aamon to our team gives us amazing depth at defense, a position most in need in the league. With Aamon’s addition, I think we’re going to have the greatest defense in the history of the VHLM.

Q: The greatest defense ever? That’s a bold statement.
A: Without getting too into the numbers, last season was the first season the cap was raised in the VHLM. Saskatoon has a great defense, but it was primarily 3 players, all who were at the cap for most of the season. We’re starting the season with 4 defensemen over the previous cap. By the midway point of the season we’ll hopefully have all 4 D men capped. That makes for the greatest D of all time, on paper at least. I’m sure the numbers will prove it out by the end of the season.

Q: After all that, what are your expectations for the team?
A: The way I look at it is, there’s things you can control and things beyond your control. I can’t control the way that other teams play. I can’t control the random bounces or outcomes we see over the course of a season. What we can control is how we operate. We control us showing up every day, working hard, and working together as a team to achieve a championship. I think as long as we focus on that, we’ll have a really good season.

Q: Anything you’d like to say to Reaper fans?
A: I’d like to thank everyone who supports this team. I think the fans already know we have a great roster made up of great players whom everyone can support. I’d say grab your friends and get ready to enjoy a fantastic season! Go Reapers!

I don't know that anyone actually has ever hated you (I certainly don't), but a lot of us would have liked you to step down once you figured you couldn't make it to two drafts in a row and didn't make a list nor appoint a drafter in your place while entering an extremely important part of your rebuild.

Really strong start for the Reapers! Kyle Anderson @Cusemode showing he wants to be playoff MVP. Adam Syreck @Spade18 dominating despite just recently signing. Derek Eriksson @DirtyDerek keeps bumping up his draft stock with games like these. Bud Knight @Dilly Dilly playing like the leader that he is. Jack Feriancek @Jackie4967 getting in on the fun with his first playoff goal! Awesome work team!

Happy holidays everyone! With the season ending just a couple days ago, it's now time for the players in the playoffs to take center stage and prove their worth the VHL GM's. Right now, this is where my rankings stand:

    Mikko Lahtinen -
    Edwin THE Encarnacion -
    Odin Omdahl 1
    Shawn Glade Jr 1
    Jacques Lafontaine -
    Chad Magnum 1
    Iangenere Risteneen 2
    Lewis Dawson 2
    Kyle Andersen New
    Damien Wolfe 2

Lots of moving around this week. I'm really not sure if Lahtinen or Encarnacion is the better pick right now, but you can't go wrong with either one.

I've made a new TPE earning spreadsheet that I would really appreciate if you guys checked out. It shows a lot about consistency in earning TPE, and how much someone has earned in a specific amount of time. There's also a page on S71 draftees. Here's the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z3UmjHIkmoBNTRdw8dgQdp4kOVhVLVRgPADZOndKJUY/edit?usp=sharing

    Profiles

    Chad Magnum - C - 185 TPE
Chad Magnum is one of those players who have, at some point, burst onto the scene. The difference with him is that he still hasn't stopped. A strong, almost barbaric scorer, Magnum is able to use his strength to his advantage by willing his way to the net seemingly every shift. If his team doesn't have it, he's after the puck immediately, forechecking hard and delivering some huge hits, of which he had 149 this season. He is reliable on the ice and off the ice, with his remarkable consistency in earning high amounts of TPE each week.

    Edwin THE Encarnacion - D - 307 TPE
One of the unanimous top 2 up to this point, Encarnacion has put up incredible numbers as a defenseman in the VHLM this season. His 94 assists puts him at third in the entire league, and his +92 (you read that right) puts him at second in the league behind his teammate Danny DeYeeto. The 50 year old is an amazing two way defenseman, with little to no flaws in it. He is sure to be a star in the VHL, and it will be fun to watch.

    Derek Eriksson - RW - 131 TPE
Eriksson is a player who I feel doesn't get enough recognition, and one that I felt badly about not including in my unsung heroes edition from last week. He has quietly put up nearly a point per game on Philly, and gotten into the top 10 for points in the draft class. My 12th ranked prospect, Eriksson has a lot of offensive upside with great scoring instincts and puck handling, but not to the detriment of his great defensive game, putting up a nice +18 on the season.

DirtyDerek reacted to DMaximus in S69 Philadelphia Reapers: A Team of Unsung Heroes
Years from now, season 69 of the VHLM is likely to be remembered for one thing, Saskatoon. The lasting story will be Saskatoon’s dominance and eventual championship or demise. I hope the annals of time do not forget the S69 Philadelphia Reapers, a team of unsung heroes. Philadelphia had 9 players score 48 or more points this season, yet none of the players cracked the top 20 in total points in the league. The lack of superstars is now a point of pride for the Reapers. The team plays best when the focus is on the team. Players are supporting each other, not looking out for individual accolades. That team-first attitude has led to a strong season for the Reapers. They finished the regular season with a 47-21-4 record good for 98 points and 4th place. They scored the 4th most goals for, with 251.

I’m going to highlight some of the unsung heroes on the team:

    -          Bud Knight - @Dilly Dilly – Maybe the least unsung of the heroes on the team. But that’s only because he’s a national TV star. Knight has been a staple on the Reapers for the last couple of seasons. He really stepped up this year to lead the team in most statistical categories. On top of that, he’s a great guy that has fought through tough times to be a true leader.

    -          Ben McGirr - @cartoes – Due to some paperwork error. McGirr has never been drafted by a VHLM team. He was happy to sign with the Reapers as a free agent for the past 2 seasons. His consistent, hard-working practice routine has paid dividends this year as he scored more than 30 points more than last season.
    -          Kyle Andersen - @Cusemode – 1 of only 3 active players drafted in the S69 3rd round or later. Andersen has had a monster rookie season in the VHLM. His 65 points and +33 rating have to put him in the conversation for steal of the draft. He shows up to work hard every day and it shows, night in and night out on the ice.

    -          Derek Eriksson - @DirtyDerek – Derek appeared shortly after the S69 draft and signed with the Reapers because he knew Kyle Andersen from their days in juniors.  What a gem of a player this guy is. 55 points without even playing in the first 10 games. He’s worked hard on his game this year and is primed for a fantastic S70 on whatever team is lucky enough to draft him.

    -          Griff Manzer - @Garsh – A stalwart on the Reaper blue line. Griff has shown he believes in the Reaper way of life right from the get go. He plays fast, hard, and nasty. This season he really showed he puts the team first by amassing 55 assists! His true unsung hero value is in the locker room. Griff is always working behind the scenes to help players new to the team. He rarely gets the credit he deserves. His effort is greatly appreciated.

    -          Richard Fitzwell - @Tomato Soup – Fitzwell and Manzer are perfect blue line partners because they are cut from the same cloth. Dick’s shown he bleeds Reaper blood from day one. He led the team in hits and was 2nd in blocked shots. Those are the stats of an unsung hero.

    -          Jack Feriancek - @Jackie4967 – Another great waiver signing this season, while Jack may not have the stats of some of the other players in this list. He’s shown he’s a passionate player who has his best seasons ahead of him. His curiosity and excitement about the league are a huge asset which will propel him to greatness.

Being the GM of players like these is a true joy and I can’t thank the people listed here and all the other Reaper players enough for being such great people.

    Season 69 Theme Week

    Hello,

As has been the case the last few seasons, the week after the trade deadline is theme week! This means if you do an MS, Podcast, or graphic on theme you can double it this week (ending December 22nd) for an extra 6 TPE uncapped AND if you do a VHL.com task on theme you can claim an additional 1 TPE uncapped. Complete both and you get a bonus 1 TPE which means if you do everything you get a bonus 8 uncapped TPE this week.  It is possible that some of you may have already submitted tasks for the week. If that is the case (or you have a multi-week MS), you may still participate, and delay claiming either task by one week. However, to be eligible for Theme Week bonus TPE, your point task must be posted by December 22nd. As I always point out as well, if you have a job that replaces a PT, you may automatically claim the doubles, and if you have a job that pays the full cap, you may claim all 8 Uncapped TPE, provided you still perform your duties this week.

So, with all that out of the way, the theme this season is Unsung Heroes (Player or Member); more specifically a member or player that you feel doesn't get the credit they deserve. This can be about a specific historical player, modern player, a specific member; whatever you want. Just pick something from the multitude of members and or players of the league and write about it or do a graphic for it or whatever.

So, a reminder, TPE Distribution for completing themed tasks will be as follows:

Complete a Regular Point Task (Media Spot / Graphic/Video / Podcast), on 'Theme', and receive an extra 6 Uncapped TPE Complete a VHL.com submission (Written / Graphic / Podcast), on 'Theme', and receive an extra 1 Uncapped TPE Complete both 'Theme' submissions, receive an additional 1 Uncapped TPE, for a total of 8 Uncapped TPE
Let’s hear about some unsung heroes shall we!
