    The Medal Games

Losses by both Team Canada and Team USA set up an all-North American Bronze Medal Game. Neither team was happy to be there, and it showed in the sloppy defensive play at both ends. Shots were coming fast and furious, with the Canadians ripping 51 shots and the Americans not far behind with 47. The game got off to a spicy start, with Jakob Sosa @TMGSosa getting the Americans on the board within the first minute. Canada stormed back with two goals before USA tied the knot at 2 at the end of one. From here on out, the goalies stood on their heads. Kloxified @Kloxified was perfect in the final two frames (and even assisted the GWG!), and Thaddius Sales let in two powerplay goals. The Canadians and their lethal powerplay secured themselves a Bronze Medal. Game MVPs go to Dominic Gobeil @domg5 (Canada) who got the Canadians back into the game, and Its Guicci @frescoelmo (USA) for not letting the game slip away in the first period.

    The Semi Finals

Team Canada's defeat of Asia "rewarded" them with a date with the unstoppable, powerhouse Team World. Of course, Canada had slain this dragon in the final of the round-robin, and truly did give the strong team a scare. Canada absolutely showed UP to their semi-final game, and scored three unanswered goals in the first to put the World on their heels. However, this Cinderella run ended abruptly and thoroughly as Team World scored 4 in the second period, and another two in the final frame to win the game 6-4. Game MVPs go to Connor Sim @SimmerDown99 (Canada) who scored twice in the opening two minutes to scare the hell out of Team World. The Team World MVP is a tough one - every player but one scored at least one point - so the nod goes to Caitlyn Catowize @CrazyCaityCat who opened the scoring for Team World and got the primary assist on the Game Winning Goal.

Across the bracket, Team USA and Team Europe were gunning for a date with Team World. Team Europe, who finished well behind USA in the standings, came out of the gate hawt. Europe got the first goal, then USA tied it up. So Europe scored again, but the pesky Americans got that one back too. Europe gets a third goal, and the Americans again don't let them have a lead. Finally, Pekko Viitanen @Xdjk93 scores the Game Winner in the second. The Europeans held on, and Viitanen added an empty netter to seal the deal. Game MVPs go to Pekko Viitanen (Europe) and Thaddius Sales @thadthrasher (USA) for stopping 45 of the 50(!!) shots taken by Team Europe.

    The Quarter-Finals

Team Asia and Team Canada, tied in points, had a quarter-final date together. Winner moves onto the semi's, and the loser goes home. The teams split their round robin series. In the tournament, Asia pitched the shutout against Canada, but the low-scoring Canadians found another gear for the medal round. Scoring a team-high six goals, the Red and White won a barnburner of a game 6-4 to move on. Asia gave Canada a serious run for their money, and Canada only scored the go-ahead goal with seven minutes remaining in the third period. Game MVPs go to Sheldon Juniper @fyrefly who did the heavy lifting, scoring two goals and adding an assist, to help propel the Canadians to victory, while Michael Schmitdt @Kmatt (2-0--2) did his part to keep the game competitive. Team Asia exits the tournament with the moral victory of not finishing at the bottom of the round robin table.

Before we begin, I have to give a big shoutout to all our GMs, players, and fans who made this tournament possible. Without you giving a hoot about this thing, it'd just be lonely ol' Josh simming meaningless games so RJ and I can get our job pay.

    Our Heroic GMs:
Team USA GM - Thaddius Sales @thadthrasher
Team Canada GM - FromTheInside @fromtheinside
Team Asia GM - Blazzer @Blazzer
Team Europe GM - Ledge & Dairy @Ledge_and_Dairy
Team World GM - Jiggly Gumballs @JigglyGumballs

On that note, let me present the first award of the night:

    The Cheerleader Award
The Cheerleader Award is something I literally just invented because of the support and awareness needed to make this tournament successful. The Cheerleader Award is for the team who builds the best hype train, screams the loudest, and obsessively cares about the WJC. This year's Cheerleaders were brash, bold, and unapologetically hyped. They made use of words, gifs, patriotism, videos, threats, chants, flags, motivational speeches to rile up their team, fanbase, and opponents. They struck fear and annoyance into the hearts of their opponents. Your S75 Team Cheerleader Award winner is:

Spence this was unbelievably written and you've been clearly doing this for a while. As I read through the entire draft review, I really couldn't find any mistakes (maybe a comma I missed) but seriously unreal review. I love how you went into complete detail with each draftee. Philly is looking incredibly tough this year and they have a helluva squad. 10/10

Welcome back to coverage of the World Junior Championship here on VSN, today we will be reviewing how each team performed from 5th place down to the Gold Medalists. We will be taking a look at what went right and what went wrong for each of the teams. The S75 edition of the World Junior Championships ended up being a massive tale of rematches and revenge from S74 in both the Bronze and Gold medal games. Without further ado, let's begin the WJC recap!

    5TH PLACE: TEAM ASIA
    GM: @Blazzer
    Round-Robin Record: 2-4-2
Lost Medal Round Qualifier against Team Canada

Unfortunately for GM Blazzer and her Team Asia squad, they would once again be left out of the medal games during the S75 World Junior Championship. After losing 6 of 8 round-robin games, it sadly came as no surprise that their run in the end would be the shortest of the all the teams, leaving after just 9 games in total. It wasn't without some top end players though, with defenseman Kevin Wu having a breakout performance with 3 goals and 6 assists, leading the team on score sheet. Goaltender Rara Rasputin also put up an .930 SV% despite the team's record, including a 34 save shutout against Team Canada. To be honest, Team Asia didn't really have a noticeable flaw besides just having a weaker team than the rest of the field. Overall, Team Asia did the best they could do despite the rest of the competition being stronger.

    4TH PLACE: TEAM USA
    GM: @thadthrasher
    Round-Robin Record: 5-3-0
Lost Medal Round Game against Team Europe
Lost Bronze Medal Game against Team Canada

What was potentially the most shocking and disappointing team during this seasons World Junior Championship, Team USA went from the second best team in the round-robin to leaving the tournament without a medal. So what happened that would cause such a downward swing? From my point of view, it was the USA special teams that caused their downfall. Their PK unit especially was probably the weakest of the entire tournament, with their PP unit not doing much to help either. Defenseman Muffbeav had 12 points and forwards Its Gucci and Justin Lose each had 11 points, decent numbers to be sure, although not enough to turn the tides. Hopefully, for Team USA sake, this will light a fire in the team so that when the next World Junior Championship rolls around in S76, the red, white, and blue won't leave feeling blue with the same disappointment as this season.

    3RD PLACE: TEAM CANADA
    GM: @fromtheinside
    Round-Robin Record: 3-5-0
Won Medal Round Qualifier against Team Asia
Lost Medal Round Game against Team World
Won Bronze Medal Game against Team USA

Despite the inability to get much of their squads TPA up above 250, Team Canada was able to take back a bronze medal home over rival Team USA after having a fairly weak start to the tournament. GM FromTheInside was able to regroup the team for the medal round games, defeating Team Asia to qualify for a potential medal. Team Canada's near fatal flaw was on offense, only scoring 19 goals throughout the round-robin games. The top point earner on the team was defenseman Zach Kissingler, who only earned 7 points. This means that no players on Team Canada averaged a point per game during the round-robin. Luckily for them, they got the issues worked out just in the nick of time. However, I'm sure Team Canada will be looking to upgrade that bronze to gold next season and return glory to the frozen north.

    2ND PLACE: TEAM EUROPE
    GM: @Ledge_and_Dairy
    Round-Robin Record: 3-4-1
Won Medal Round Game against Team USA
Lost Gold Medal Game against Team World

The S74 gold medalists made a return to the gold medal game in S75 under young GM Ledge after running middle of the pack during the round-robin games. Despite the strong team, with players like Vlad Imir and L leading the charge on offense and defense for the Europeans, the team also had massive penalty troubles. How bad was their penalty trouble? They led the round-robin totals by 20(!) PIM with 116 minutes of sin bin time in total. These issues would continue to press on even in the medal games, where it wouldn't be a surprise if that was the difference between leaving with gold or leaving with silver. Otherwise, the Europeans had a strong showing and it gave GM Ledge a good light on him in his first managerial role. I'm sure Team Europe will be looking to reclaim their golden throne in S76.

    FIRST PLACE: TEAM WORLD
    GM: @JigglyGumballs
    Round-Robin Record: 7-1-0
Won Medal Round Game against Team Canada
Won Gold Medal Game against Team Europe

Now, it is time to talk about the winners of the S75 World Junior Championship, Team World. Hungry and angry from getting oh so close to gold in S74, they struck teams with vengeance. Under returning GM JigglyGumballs, the worldwide misfits would go on a tear throughout the round-robin, only having a minor slip up during a game against Team Canada. MVP of the tournament Pistil Stamen of Brazil would record 19 points between all 10 games played for Team World. The final pin in the hat was in the gold medal game as they would enact revenge upon Team Europe for the game of yester-season, Team World would win the gold medal game in a convincing 5-2 victory over Team Europe. Certainly a victory that must taste oh so sweet after the previous season and a victory that they will look to repeat in S76.

In conclusion, the S75 edition of the World Junior Championship was filled with much drama and excitement. I'm sure the VHL is incredibly happy to have so much young talent coming up through the ranks. It shows the league is as healthy as ever and will certainly be a joy to see what all of these players will be doing in the future. For now though, thank you for tuning into the Victory Sports News coverage of the World Junior Championship. I am Hex Rose and for all of us at VSN, we say thank you and see you all next season!

    S76 WARSAW PREDATORS TEAM CAPTAINS

Last season saw Warsaw rise to the level of the VHL’s top teams, finishing with a team-record 89 points and a franchise-first playoff berth. With this in mind, we would be remiss to make any changes to the three young leaders that took charge in our rise in S75.

As such please join me in congratulating the player who will wear the C patch for a second straight season, and make it three straight with a captaincy role in general:

    C - Dakota Lamb

    @dlamb

Dakota Lamb set a very strong example in his inaugural season bearing the captain’s patch, and the team thrived with his leadership all the way to the second seed in the European Conference playoffs. We’re incredibly excited to have him back where he belongs, and I look forward to seeing him lead us in our transition from playoff contender to cup contender!

And next up, returning for her third consecutive year as an alternate captain, we have:

    A - Aloe Dear

     @Renomitsu

Aloe Dear has continued to provide a steady hand for Warsaw and played a big part in our jump in performance last season. Now entering her third season playing on Warsaw’s first line, she will continue to make a big impact on our squad as an alternate captain!

Lastly, also returning to the alternate captain role, in this case for their second consecutive season, we have:

    A - Victor Grachev

     @KaleebtheMighty

Also joining the team in our first draft in Season 73, Grachev has continued to be an exemplary leader both on and off the ice. We’re very excited to have been able to lock up Grachev long term, and we look forward to seeing how he performs in his second season as an alternate captain for us!

Congrats to our three captains, I know you’ll do a great job leading us through this season!

Spence King reacted to Dom in Why Montreal should have a team!
Some will find me annoying with that VHL.com article but I’m doing it anyway. There is why Montreal should have a VHL team!

Its an original 6 in the NHL:

Unless you live in a grotto, if you are a hockey fan, you should be aware of the original 6 teams of the NHL which is Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Detroit, Chicago and New York.

    Countless fans:

It is known, Montreal is one of the biggest hockey city in the world. Not only the whole city watch hockey but the whole province of Quebec do!

    Faithful fans:

The habs has been bad for 20 years and they just start being decent and the fans are still there.

There is habs fans in the VHL:

In less than 3 months of VHL presence, I already noticed a few habs fans in the VHL and I’m sure they would enjoy having a team in the VHL.

It could make a French friendly team:

The whole VHL is in English and they keep trying to get new members, what if one team is french friendly? This could bring some French Canadians to the VHL and they could learn english at their own rate with the help of fellow French Canadians.

Other cities I would consider for an expansion:

Every other teams missing in the original 6! Which means, Boston and Detroit.

The VHL Draft has come and gone, were you watching the Draft Livestream?
No, I was too busy sleeping in

What skills have you been working on the most during the offseason to improve going into S77
Mostly in hand speed and reaction time

Who do you believe is most likely on the verge of a massive breakout season and why
Me ofc well as a backup lol

Which player on any team are you most looking forward to playing against and why
I’m just happy to play idc who its against

Wolves are also ECSTATIC to announce the official signing of our S74 prospect Markus Emerson Jr Voted S76 VHLM Top Goaltender winning the Award "Benoit Devereux Trophy". How many Starts to you expect to see Emerson play?
I’m hoping to get at least 15 but any amount is great

The Wolves are welcoming rookie from the S75 Draft , from the Mexico Kings Jacob Sosa. With Sosa and  @Sixersfan594Zolnek both joining the pro roster were now at 8 forwards. What do you expect from these two rookie forwards ?
I know Sosa from the VHLM so I expect big things from him but i dont know as much about the other guy so well see what happens

    1. Of course, I remember being drafted myself and what a surprise it was. It's nice to see other people not only experience what I got from being drafted but also seeing the ones that will hopefully be joining me in Vancouver sometime soon.
    4. Granted this question is about myself so I won't be too biased but I know Zolnek is one hell of a player, we've crossed paths in the VHLM especially with the finals so it'll be interesting to see two rival team players merge onto Vancouver as teammates. I'm sure we'll get along fine, we both want to make a good impression in the VHL and now is the best time to do it.
    5. I truly hope to see Emerson start at least a third of the games this season, I've been lucky enough to work with him in Mexico City and he's truly a great guy with good hopes for this team. I feel like him graduating to the VHL is in perfect timing too as Spyro has one more year in him. The aging veteran and the hungry rookie, how perfect.
    6. This group can definitely make the Finals again I believe, the postseason was very unfortunate for us for... a lot of reasons but in the end I always saw it as a way to come back and hit harder. I wanna say the Season 76 Wolves are pissed off and want that cup by any means necessary now.
    9. It is a very realistic expectation, we have a team full of people that can get the puck in the net and I'm positive we can continue to break more records.
    10. I definitely want to say our new Assistant GM has been a good motivation for this team, having a lot of energy and positivity is what a team needs in the offseason if they don't bring home a cup. Stuff like that is what we need to get on track and get this team where it needs to be.

Just a cool service that I can provide and also a SUPER cool connection with it being the Wolves previous Franchise that I can Revive as well as keep the Wolves alive with Beav doing his thing as he does. FWIW a team being placed in Montreal wouldn’t change its locker room’s language to French. Having a language barrier be involved with a specific team isn’t something we’re interested in doing as unfortunate as it is for non-english speakers.

yeah I get that point and it makes sense but maybe it could be a good idea as a vhlm team so it helps with french waiver claims and those who get drafted there only have 1 season to do before going up so its no big deal. On my side, I'm billingual but I know its a big issues for many french people. Once they are in the VHL, even if its all in english, they would still have that french friendly locker room with many people to help them in their discord channel.

Vancouver actually existed as the Quebec City Meute for most of its existence to fill this niche but actually for the reverse rep with people not wanting to play for a “French” team. Also a terrorist group stole the name... bastards.

In any case Montreal has always been high on my list for potential expansion locations in NA along with Boston and Detroit.

I agree with what Fonzi said, I think Reddit really helped us grow and it would be huge if we could somehow bring that back while following the rules. I also think that we need to work harder on Twitter. I am apart of our little twitter team we've created, but I think we need to grow it more. I also love that we've moved towards instagram as well. That will help us grow the young kids like myself. I think we need to dabble a bit in every social media and really start to grow them. Eventually I think it would be great to run a social media recruitment team. I think hiring a few people for that job could be good. Thanks for considering me Beav. I think I could do some great things.
