The thinking behind “no mid season call ups” was that it really takes away some agency from the VHLM/E GMs. They plan for a season and then just near the end, a GM from a league above (that has no actual affiliation with the lower league team) poaches their best player. I get the point though. Fortunately there’s only a few short weeks between the TDL and the offseason.

What a barn burner of a series. Tight checking, solid defensive, low-scoring playoff hockey be damned. The Dragons and the Americans know how to have fun. This wildcard series puts the wild in wildcard. In just four games, the two teams totalled 35 goals. 35!! It's crazy how close the series was even with that huge number. DC is only +3 Goal Differential. DC scored 19 goals, and New York got themselves 16. Goals are fun. Defense is boring. I know "dEfEnSe WiNs ChAmPiOnShIpS", but offense wins fans. The fans were thoroughly entertained throughout the series. As the higher seed, the series started off in New York. The Americans put on a show for the home crowd, scoring 7 in what would be their final playoff win for the year. Even in their Game 2 loss, the home side put up 4 in a 6-4 loss. Back on real American soil, the Dragons treated their supporters to a hockey clinic in Game 3. In what I suppose you could call a defensive effort, the Dragons held the Americans to a lone goal in a 4-1 win. In Game 4, what could be the final game of the series, the two teams went back to their explosive roots. The Dragons put up another classic DC touchdown as the home side advances on a 6-4 win. Let's hope the goals keep coming against a tough Scottsdale Springfields team next.
