  1. the malmo nighthawks just about stumbled into the playoffs in 4th place. just a week ago it was looking like they would be heading for a 2nd place finish in the conference, but some critical losses in the final games of the season have sealed their fate to a wildcard battle against the helsinki titans. lately it seems that an explosion of offence from the team is paired with a less than stellar defensive showing. if the nighthawks are to have any success in the playoffs they will need to put an end to that trend sooner rather than later. as they looked to put that disappointing end of the season behind them, they were hit with a fresh dose of reality when they found themselves on the brink of elimination after two rough losses right out of the gate in the wildcard round. a blowout loss to start the series, followed by a much better showing where they ultimately came up short and things were looking bleak for the swedish club. with their backs against the wall, the nighthawks found their footing and brought the series back to even, setting up a one game showdown against the titans to determine who will matchup against davos in the first round of the playoffs.
  2. the malmo nighthawks head in to the final five games of the season firmly sat in third place in the european conference. with the top spot all but locked up for the streaking davos dynamo, it's all about trying to pass riga to edge out home ice advantage, and hold back the ever so close london united. all three of riga, malmo and london likely feel like they have a chance at the 2nd seed for the conference, so it will take an absolute full team effort if the nighthawks are to stake their claim. the story of the season for malmo has been that potent offence. they are 2nd in the whole league for goals scored, and if not for a small slump in the recent week, they may well have been holding the top spot. and when the offence isn't quite there, the defence and goaltending has been clutch when they needed it most. with two games still to play against riga, the nighthawks hold their fate in their own hands.
  3. @Josh tried to do a clean and simple graphic this time around, i think it turned out pretty good
  4. as we head in to the final stretch of the regular season, jebediah big ol doinks in amish can't help but be a little disappointed in his individual performance. on one hand, it's been a great season so far for the malmo nighthawks, who are in a fierce battle at the top of the european conference standings. but for jebediah, he wishes he could have been a bigger contributor to the offensive success that has led the team so far. he has managed only 20 points, with four of those being goals of which three came on the power play. there are of course positives to take from jeb's encouraging rookie season. he has not been a defensive liability, coming in at plus 18 on the season so far. as well as only taking six minor penalties throughout the 50 games, adding up to a grand total of just 12 penalty minutes. on top of that he is average nearly two blocked shots a game, with 99 in total at this point and hopefully many more to come.
  5. soon bro i promise just one more recruitment drive bro i swear it's all we need
  6. gonna start streaming all of my point tasks for verification
  7. i love being a minors gm, and i think it is one of the most rewarding jobs you can have in the league. but having a grand total of three active players on my team is a huge bummer. before the post complaining about recruitment was made there were five players on the team, but seeing the writing on the wall, i made a trade in order to build for next season and beyond. i really didn't want to because i was already operating at the bare minimum with one full line. on top of that, a less than stellar draft before i joined the team and we are in pretty rough shape. now mexico sits second to last in the standings, with three players and an inactive goalie. it is nearly impossible to attract the small amount of waivers that do come through, and the users that are on the team don't enjoy getting shelled constantly. i'm not sure if the solution is more aggressive recruiting, or a league contraction, or something else completely. but i really want the vhlm to thrive again, and i hope we can find a way to breathe back some life in to the league in the very near future.
  8. personally i would love to have more players on my team
  9. jebediah big ol doinks in amish has had a tough introduction to the vhl so far. but joining an up and coming malmo squad that under performed last season has left him eager to impress. the start of the season was a very big wake up call and it took quite a few games for jebediah to adjust to the pace of the top league. along with that came some lackluster results for the nighthawks, which saw them slightly frustrated with the way things were going. but a small tweak to the line combinations and things have turned around massively for malmo. a massive eight game win streak brought the nighthawks right into contention to the extremely close european conference playoff race. and they are now getting good production from their veteran stars like skor mcfleury, yaroslav bogatyrev and henry eagles. players like viktor jensen and jacob stone are also coming into their own and showing that they can be the players to carry the team going forward. for jebediah, the points have been harder to come by, but he is happy to chip in wherever he can.
