  1. ESPN.PL - A blockbuster deal saw Malmo Nighthawks captain Chris Hylands moved to the Warsaw Predators for a cap dump and a couple of 1st round picks. Although Hylands was enjoying a solid year on the struggling Malmo side, things aren't quite going as well over in Warsaw. He was scoring at well over a point per game pace for Malmo, managing 60 points in just 45 games, but he has not enjoyed the same success after the trade. When asked about his play early on, he was pretty blunt about how he feels. "Yea I've been pretty bad so far, not gonna lie. I didn't really expect to hit the ground running considering how dialed in Warsaw has been all season, but I really want to be contributing a lot more." In his first 10 games with the Predators, he's managed just a single goal and five helpers for an underwhelming six points. Hopefully this is just a matter of finding the chemistry with the right linemates and things will be back to normal for Hylands soon, because if the Predators want to achieve the ultimate goal of winning the cup, he will have to play an important role in their playoff run.

  2. ESPN.SE - The start of a brand new season is upon us, and in Malmo, that means Hylands is gearing up and hoping for another strong campaign. He set a career high in points last season, managing 46 goals and 57 assists for a total of 103 points. He hopes to continue improving and is aiming to break the 50 goal barrier for the first time in his career. However, things won't be all smooth sailing for Malmo as they enter a rebuilding year. When asked about Malmo's chances, Hylands had this to say, "Well, we're obviously not expecting the world here. We've got a few rookies, with some other developing talent sprinkled in there and I just don't think we quite have what it takes to compete with the top dogs. That won't stop us from playing our asses off each and every night though!". It's hard to say just exactly how things will shake up for the Nighthawks in this season. On one hand they have some highly skilled players on the top end of things, but after that the talent massively drops off. It's likely they will be on the outside looking in come the end of the season, and I don't think that will surprise anybody.

  3. ESPN.SE - The dust has settled after a busy draft night, and the VHL is getting ready to burst forward with it's 77th season. For the Malmo Nighthawks, that means welcoming a brand new GM to the front office for the first time since Season 71. Christopher James was hired to replace the retiring John Frostbeard, who stepped down after 6 incredible season at the helm. After a marvelous run in Season 75 resulted in the Nighthawks winning the Continental Cup, Malmo struggled heavily the following season and has entered a full rebuild. However, with multiple selections in the first two rounds of the draft, things are shaping up nicely for the new GM, and he had this to say, "I think we had a great draft and I'm very excited for the future in Malmo. We also have some veteran talent in the Locker Room that will be able to help our prospects make a seamless transition to the VHL." Only time will tell how things will eventually shape up for Malmo in the grand scheme of things, but they certainly have a great blueprint to build off of. We can expect them to be a bottom feeder in the immediate future, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
