Joe Exotic got a reaction from Spaz in 5 Reasons the Reapers Were Eliminated
"It obviously stings right now," Reapers center Joe Exotic said. "Great group of guys in here. It really felt like things were lining up for us pretty well. I definitely felt we had the group to do it in here, go all the way."

Here are 5 reasons the Reapers were eliminated:

    1. Lack of response

Unlike the regular season, the Reapers were unable to counter when the Aces scored. Las Vegas refused to allow Philadelphia any momentum, including in Game 4, when they quickly erased the Reapers' early lead by scoring 2:14 after Exotic's power-play goal.

"In this series, anytime we got momentum, they got it right back," Philadelphias coach said. "It was almost like a flip-flop from the regular season where we owned them. They did a really good job."

    2. No breaks or bounces

The Reapers had two goals taken away over the first two games in Philadelphia; forward Damien Wolfe was penalized for goalie interference in Game 1 that negated what would have been a goal for Exotic, and defenseman Liam Flaten accidentally kicked the puck past Reapers own goalie Isak Sjostrom in Game 2 that cost them some momentum.

Las Vegas got the bounces it needed, starting with Vladimir Shaposhnikov's overtime goal in Game 1 that landed right on his stick after a shot went off the end boards.

"It almost felt like we were Las Vegas in this series; just couldn't get a two-goal lead, couldn't get a bounce," Exotic said.

    3. Even-strength play

The Reapers were one of the better teams 5-on-5 this season, but they generated little against the Aces. Philadelphia scored two goals at even strength, none until Damien Wolfe’s wrist shot against Aces goalie  Nils Friedriksen at 14:13 of the second period of Game 3. The other came from Joe Exotic with 1:09 remaining in Game 4.

"You think about [how] we've had success all year, it's being able to shut down other teams. Counter, frustrate them, all that," @DMaximus said. "They did a lot of that to us. When you're pressing, we usually counter and they did that against us. We were chasing the whole series."

    4. Jack Russell goes cold

Russell wasn't the only Reapers forward who didn't score in this series, but it stands out more for Jack who is in his fourth year in the VHLM. The closest Russell came to scoring was in Game 2, when he hit the goal post midway through the third period.

"They're a good defensive team, you've got to give them credit," Jack said. "They play very similar to us. We've been on the other side of it where we've frustrated teams too."

    5. Fourth line held in check

Throughout the season, @Dmaximus often referred to his fourth line with Joe Exotic on it as the Reapers' "identity line" given their ability to set the tone with their physical play and providing energy. After Joe moved up to second line center, a well-deserved promotion, the Reapers just did not play with the same depth. The Aces were able to counter, particularly at home, when they handled the Reapers.

Players like Joe Exotic will now go into the draft. It is unlikely the Reapers will have the same depth next year but we look forward to the new season starting ASAP.

Watching old hockey games with my family. The brawls, grit & passion that was needed to win back then was astounding. It was very different than today. Overall, there is more skill in today's game, but I miss the grit from the past.

After getting out of prison, I went back to training big cats. I still own over 200 tigers at my zoo despite that bitch Carole Baskin trying to shut me down for good.

I am a bad mother f*cker. We haven't had many really rough games this season, but when shit goes down in the playoffs, I will straight up beat down opponents.

@Dilly Dilly - He led our team in scoring during my first year with 49 goals, 54 assists, 103 points. On top of being a +42. This guy is good. @Bob Helminen ain't too bad either (42 goals, 102 points). They both lead by example every day.

I will forever be the VHLer with a #1 Netflix show for 18 weeks while serving prison time at the beginning of the season, to being second line center for the Reapers by seasons end. I hope to someday lead my team in scoring.

I will be in the VHL. I can't predict with who, but there are a lot of potential suitors that have been tampering a bit with me by trying to know I'm in their future plans. tsk tsk, shame on them.

It can allow your childhood dreams to come true

I grew up in Canada…and if you know anything about Canadians we freaking love our hockey and nearly everyone of us has dreamed at one point or another to be a professional hockey player tearing up the NHL. With the VHL I made my childhood dreams come true and now I have a little computer hockey player living out the dreams of my childhood. Through your player you can live that dream and become a professional hockey player.

    You can channel your immaturity

No one here knows who you actually are and where you live and what you look like, therefore you can name your player something immature that brings you and others a good chuckle. You can name your player Harry Dick or perhaps Soiled Underwear! Whatever gives you a chuckle and brings joy to your day to day life. Afterall who wouldn’t smile watching Bangkok Yourmom score on star goalie Ham Burger, I know I would.

You can learn a new skill

Part of the VHL system is doing points tasks in order to boost the skills of your player at first it might seem redundant and lame but look at it in a different way! There are several tasks that involve creative writing and they can honestly boost your writing skills which are skills that anyone should really have in their day to day lives. You can also learn how to photoshop and make some sick photos of your player. Basically you can grow your skills in photo editing or writing and then spend your reward on those to make your player score better

You could win a freaking championship

Winning a VHL championship could be one of the pinnacle moments of your life. We all love to win something and winning a fake online championship with your fake online hockey star is a dream that I did not realize I had. Watching nail biting games and then checking the stats to see if your player can lead his team to the championship would be addicting (I would not know….) But if I did experience it I would love it.

Experience the best parts of being a hockey player

In the VHL your player will get to go through the highlights of an NHL off season, experience the thrills of a draft, the excitement of being a free agent and see your player get moved in a blockbuster trade that the community analyzes through their news reports. Right now player is in the lead up to the draft and it is genuinely exciting and I hope to be draft in a high round by a team that can use the skills and potential my player brings. This league is a really immersive one that allows you to live a hockey career through all the high and low points.

I recommend this league greatly and I have enjoyed the community here in my first month and I would recommend it to anyone wanting an escape right now.

Joe Exotic got a reaction from LastOneUp in Tiger King's Joe Exotic Said That He's 'Ashamed' of Himself For Going to Prison
Netflix interviewed the former roadside zookeeper, who was serving a 22-year sentence for charges that include attempted murder-for-hire. Fortunately, with help of his VHLPA members, they were able to prove that bitch Carole Baskin killed her husband. As a part of the plea deal, Joe Exotic was set free under supervision of his GM @DMaximus. Is the GM aware that if Joe commits a crime, @DMaximuswill also face criminal charges as his court appointed guardian? Frankly, Joe doesn't care about that.

It's not surprising that Netflix documentary series Tiger King has become a sensation. The Verge reports that daytime streaming service viewing increased by 40 percent between March 9 and March 23, as billions of people began living under lockdowns designed to stall the spread of the coronavirus. The seven-part series was released on March 20, and its stories of "murder, madness, and mayhem" in the world of big cat fanatics has remained in Netflix's Top 10 ranking ever since. And on Friday, the streaming service posted to social media an old interview with Joseph Maldonado-Passage, better known as Joe Exotic, who was fighting his unlawful charge in prison at the time.

He answered a few questions via video link. A former magician and country music's answer to Milli Vanilli, Tiger King co-director Eric Goode has described Maldonado-Passage as being prone to letting "narcissism and ego get the better of him." Unsurprisingly, he seemed pleased with his newfound fame. "It would be nice if I could actually see me being famous out there," said Maldonado-Passage, "but I've seen these same four walls for a year and a half now."

Maldonado-Passage was set to serve a 22-year prison sentence for charges including attempting to hire hitmen to kill his rival, big cat sanctuary owner Carole Baskin. He was also convicted of killing five tigers, and in the interview expressed regret for his treatment of animals—while claiming to be innocent of crimes for which he was convicted. "Go sit in a cage with your animal for a week," he said. "When I left the zoo and I sent my chimpanzees to the sanctuary in Florida and imagined what my chimpanzees went through for 18 years, I'm ashamed of myself."

With the help of the VHLPA, Joe was able to be exonerated from all these charges. "Those shady lawyers in the VHLPA really pulled this one out for me. I'm happy to get back to playing hockey again."

The interview was recorded on February 22 before Joe Exotic was released and signed by the Philadelphia Reapers. Maldonado-Passage filed a $94 million civil rights lawsuit alleging that he was falsely imprisoned, claimed to be "done with the Carole Baskin saga," and said that he's "seeking to be a full time player in the VHL."

    1. I have been in skates for as along as I could walk. Despite growing up in a warm climate where Hockey wasn't a big deal, I have loved the game my entire life. My dad played pro hockey in Europe and was a big influence on me.

    2. I wrangle Tigers. I am the Tiger King. My Netflix documentary has been ranked #1 for over 4 months and is the talk of the town. Everyone knows Carole Baskin is guilty.

    3. My team doesn't really know that I'm a goal scorer by nature! I haven't had the ice time to put up numbers that I have throughout my career, but after discussions with @DMaximus and doing a lot of work on my game, especially faceoffs, I am going to start getting second line center minutes.

    4. @Bob Helminen - This guy is a stud and carries himself like a pro should.

Few people have made as big of an immediate impact as Joe Exotic. The outspoken former zoo keeper and Tiger lover has made an instant name for himself with his sorted past.

Now that most of that is behind him, he was ready to sign with a pro hockey team again.

He signed with the Philadelphia Reapers. Albeit a deep team, but he knew he would improve quickly and has done just that. That is why it's been difficult to accept the lack of ice time early in the year. Today, he had 1 minute in a game. In the other games he had 3 and 4 minutes respectively. "How am I supposed to get any better?" Joe was heard saying to @DMaximus

“I think he’s just in a spot right now where he’s caught in limbo and probably wants more than anything to just get here and play and be an VHL player. There’s probably a lot of frustration in the fact he’s not where he wants to be right now,” said Joe's teammate.

The coach was able to address the matter later this afternoon.      “Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. He’s a premier goal scorer, so maybe he’s just trying to use that as some leverage for his contract. I wouldn’t put too much weight into those comments,” @DMaximus said this morning.

Joe has yet to record a goal averaging less than 5 minutes a night.

Joe Exotic got a reaction from DMaximus in Should the VHL Ban Fighting?
Opinion: It’s not hockey without fighting

In a world all too bland, our game sticks out because of its beautiful brutality. Why would we want to change that?

It always fascinates me when someone who claims to like hockey says they don’t like fighting. Hockey has always had fisticuffs, so clearly when they fell in love with the sport, they knew what they were getting into. They’re the sort of folks who go to a Chinese restaurant and ask why cheeseburgers aren’t on the menu, I imagine. I don’t try to intellectualize fighting because for me it’s a matter of passion – my own and that of the players. Hockey is an intense, physical game played at high speeds. It inspires loyal fans who know the sacrifices players have made to get to the elite ranks and appreciate the danger those same athletes face on a nightly basis just by skating around with each other in ill temper. Are concussions bad? Are hits to the head bad? Sure, but players have known the risks forever and I don’t believe otherwise, even if specific maladies (such as chronic traumatic encephalopathy) have only been named recently.

Here, for example, is one testimonial: “Violence is taken to a greater degree. There is always the specter of being hurt. A good player, just come into his prime, cracks a skull, breaks a leg, he’s finished. If you get hit, you get hit – with impersonal force.” That’s from the all-time leader in the VHL in penalty minutes Luc-Pierre Lespineau-Lebrunette.

Would injuries go up or down without fighting in the VHL? Impossible to say unless you take the plunge, but I guarantee you will never make the sport safe without gutting it, and at that point, why bother calling it hockey anymore? The same folks in the press who lambasted the Fox glow puck or who have decried the shootout somehow don’t see that taking fighting out of the VHL would be, in itself, a radical gimmick.

    Other Sports

Personally, I don’t care that the NFL doesn’t have scraps, nor do I care basketball banned the practice decades ago. We watch sports for their uniqueness, not their sameness. There’s an untamed ruggedness to hockey that even the NFL can’t boast anymore and the fact very few hockey games get out of control despite the leniency towards fisticuffs makes me think a certain evolutionary balance has been found the past couple decades.

Could hockey attract more fans if it went without brawling? Perhaps, but you’d definitely be losing some diehards and replacing them with the fairweather crowd. I’d rather stay true to the game’s roots instead of selling out to a corporate ideal of sport (I was going to use the term “Disneyfication,” but even Michael Eisner employed Stu Grimson back in the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim days). I’m not saying hockey has to remain static, but too often our insular world picks itself apart instead of celebrating what we love. This is an exciting sport where emotions spill over, and that tension is often solved with a fight. It reflects the visceral bond the fans have for their home team and, in a world that embraces blandness, I’m glad hockey sticks out. Fighting is a big factor in that uniqueness. If you don’t love the game with fighting in it, maybe you didn’t love it that much to begin with.
