  2. COLE NEWHOOK'S VHLM FIRST SEASON EXPERIENCE Newhook awoke at about 3 AM in the morning, with his phone ringing excessively. He picked it up and answered the robo-call from some unknown VHL team. He picked it up to be told by Victor that he had been drafted by the Moscow Menace. He ran over and told his roommate, who was clearly not happy to be awoken at 3:02 in the morning by his roommate. As the good news was told to the roommate, who wished to remain anonymous, Newhook was punched in the face, due to the roommate's not wishing to be awoken at all. Newhook stayed up the rest of the night, going back over his first VHLM season. " I did not expect to be drafted so early, like in the third round. I was more expecting 4th, and i was thinking Davos would draft me because they were the only VHL team that reached out to me about me being on their draft board, so being drafted by the cup finals loser was a big surprise. I am bummed I missed my leader by just a season, but can't do anything about it. About the first VHLM season, I think I definitely could have done better, but I probably upgraded a lot of the wrong things, like thinking scoring made me score more. Hah, I got 3 goals that year so I probably should've none that scoring did not make you score. I think I did have a good season for not really knowing how to get a bunch of TPE, but completing this essay will actually put me over 100, which I'm very proud of. Others are probably like "Just 100 TPE, that guy sucks." But I think I'm actually doing very well for a First- Gen player. 21 points in 28 games doesn't sound amazing, but that's 3/4 points per game, and I should do even better this upcoming year. Yeah, our team didn't do well, but I'm proud of it for how many just- signed players there were, such as @LastOneUp, @Al Stoner, @st4rface, among many others." Cole Newhook was drafted by the Minnesota Storm in the VHLM Dispersal draft, 36th overall in the 3rd round. again, he expressed how surprised he was that he was drafted so early. "Minnesota seems like a great place for hockey, and a great team that I will be on. I will do my best in my 2nd year in the VHLM.
  3. COLE NEWHOOK AGE: 20 Buffalo, NY C 6'2 205 lb At the age of 13, Newhook was spotted by the head coach of a premiere hockey club, located in Toronto, just a hop across the border and an hour and a half of driving to get to. "Going to that camp was one of the smartest and best things I've ever done. It advanced my hockey skills so much." Off camera, he said something much different. "Yeah, that place was kind of a waste of time and money. I was very short for my age, and I guess he mistook me for a 10 or 11 year old." After undergoing a major growth spurt, he was quickly mistaken for being 15 years old, and the next camp, he said was a life- changer. It was also for 15 year olds, so he quickly advanced more than he already was ahead of the rest of his age group. As a 15 year old, Newhook was selected for the US U-17 team , and at the World Championships, the U.S took gold and Newhook excelled, with 3 goals and 5 assists in 7 games as a 15 year old. As a 16 year old, Newhook advanced to the US U-18 team, playing with some of the best in his generation. Here the U.S fell to Finland in the Gold medal game, but Newhook got 4 goals and 5 assists in 8 games, staying once again one point above point per game. He made the national team the next three years as well. At this point in his life, Newhook was getting scholarships from many schools for academics as well as hockey, having graduated at the top of his class two years early at the most prestigious high school in Buffalo. Cole eventually wound up picking Harvard and immediately became their first line center. Here, at this point, Newhook could have been drafted into the VHLM, but he wanted more development time and spent four, tough, tough years at Harvard. Present Day Now, at the VHL and VHLM draft, his parents say " We are so proud of him, and he obviously couldn't have done it without us. I can't believe the week has finally come, his draft day into the world's top league." Newhook says" I'm so glad the time has finally come. It's an honor to be here, and I can't wait to see where I am selected. 405 words.
