This was just something I was interested in so I figured I'd look into it. I looked into two different elements of this:

    - First Gens who exceeded 200 TPE and have had a recreate exceed 200 TPE as well
    - First Gens who exceeded 400 TPE and have had a recreate exceed 400 TPE as well.

The sample size that I used was from players in the Season 63 Draft Class (since that was the first class where I feel like we saw proper results from recruitment drives, although Season 62 was solid in this respect as well) up to players in the Season 74 Draft Class (with the reason I cut off there being I got to a handful of players in that class who, while still active with their recreate, had yet to make 400 TPE, so felt like carrying on using classes after that would skew the results.)

For First Gens who exceeded 200 TPE, 45% of them have gone on to have a recreate that also exceeded 200 TPE. The Season 70 Draft Class had the most success on this front, with 10 of it's 14 (71.4%) 200 TPE First Gens going on to make another 200 TPE player, although this is a big outlier as the next best draft class in this category (Season 69) was quite a way down from that but still successful with 58.9%. The lowest draft class in this category was Season 72, with just 30.8% of its 200 TPE players getting a recreate over 200 TPE, but Season 65 (31.3%) and Season 74 (33.3%) were not too far ahead in that regard.

For First Gens who exceeded 400 TPE, 54.7% of them have gone on to have a recreate that also exceeded 400 TPE, however this could rise to 57.1% if the active recreates that are still yet to hit 400 TPE from the S73 and S74 classes go on to surpass 400 TPE. The best draft classes in this regard were the Season 63 Draft Class (77.8%) and Season 66 (70.6%) and outside of the Season 74 Draft Class (which as mentioned before still has a handful of players that are active that can yet surpass 400 TPE), no class is below 40% in that category.

I wasn't exactly expecting to be traded. Had the thought crossed my mind before it happened? Yes, it had. The media spot I wrote on Monday during my lunch break alluded to the possibility, but I had no previous knowledge of the negotiations that had been going on for a week at that point. To be blunt, my relationship with the Toronto Legion went from really solid to nonexistent once Doomsday stepped down. I never heard from the new General Manager, nor did I even know Doomsday had stepped down until a few weeks (?) after it happened. It was a strange experience, going from feeling like part of the team to feeling like I was the only member of the team. I guess I'm bringing this up because I want to once again lament the prevalence of Discord in this community. Doomsday's resignation was done on Discord. The new GM, presumably, is only using Discord, so I never heard from him. The segmenting of the VHL across multiple lines of communication is unfortunate, and I think was a big reason that my player was traded. Otherwise, how could one justify moving the youngest and most developed defenseman from a rebuilding team? It doesn't actually make any sense. Please note this isn't me shitting on the users I mentioned - it's merely an anecdote about how Discord is ruining the VHL experience for me.

As you may know, I haven't been active for a while. I've been mainly a welfare player as I've had other online interests that took up most of my time. Now that my attention span of a three year old has moved back onto the VHL, I'm going to write a mini-series about my last five seasons with Phoebe Bridgers. This part will be slimmer than others, as the portal no longer stores the final S81 stats.

    PART 1 - VHLM SEASON 81 -

Phoebe Bridgers signed with the Mississauga Hounds fresh off of leg 1 of her Reunion tour, which hit 26 cities across the US. Deciding to play as a left winger (her political position outside of sport as well), Bridgers joined the powerhouse Hounds due to their impressive placement in the standings and the promise of first line minutes. With the backing of a strong, VHL regular-laden squad featuring Kakapo Bushtit, Vasile Lamb, and James Teekirque, Bridgers posted a middling 11 - 22 - 33 season in 57 games, not terrible for a rookie year but also not fantastic. The playoffs saw the Hounds being disappointingly knocked out in 6 games in the quarterfinals, losing out to the San Diego Marlins. Bridgers put up an impressive 8 points in 6 games, yet that clearly was not enough to overcome the surging Marlins, who fell in seven games to the Lynx.

Like most of other seasons, this one was supposed to be quiet in terms of trades. But thanks to a trade addict who goes by the name of Alex, half panicking Bana and some sprinkles from a not-so-sleeping GM anymore (thank you Spartan) we will have more deals to talk about. At first, a very first trade was supposed to be a three way. But after more talks and twists we got five teams producing 4 different trades in two days. Now I'm gonna talk about them a bit.

*Disclaimer: the first trade review was written on Sunday. The second one - yesterday. I finished the last two today. Yup, can't do things in one day anymore. Blame Cole teams.

    Deron Nesbitt

For Davos: At this moment Davos is doing fine, but looks like they always could do better. As of this moment Nesbitt amassed 10 points in 14 games which is actually decent for a guy with the non scoring style of play. But could he perform like that in the longterm...I'm honestly not sure. For me, Calix isn't a much worse option so it shouldn't lower their potential for too much. Freeing some cap space for other possible deals is a factor too. Another interesting fact - this trade makes sure Davos are keeping their own S88 second round pick. Sneaky Alex with sneaky conditions. I don't think Rayz will be extremely happy to see this turn of events.

For Seattle: Now this is more complicated. Bana once again managed to avoid the rebuild, but it doesn't look like the roster is ready to shine like a diamond. Matter of fact, they do look...mid. Obviously this result won't cut it for the 7 time champ so he is back searching for options. So I guess here's is the first step. And for now, I'm not sure if this is going to do something for Seattle. Yes, 10 points is definitely more than three from less active Pearce. But Nesbitt's build still looks like a Walmart store version of Sakamoto so is this really an upgrade? Sure, maybe defensively and perhaps this is some upping from Calix. I just don't think it's going to make a huge boost in scoring and this team is definitely lacking at that so far. When you score the same amount and shoot even less times than Riga, you know this is not it. I imagine Bana already spamming AW's dms about putting all of the upcoming TPE to the scoring skills. Otherwise, I'm not sure what was he even trying to do with this trade in the first place.

*By the way, my early predictions put Seattle at third place in NA...backfired already?

For Toronto: Now we can see how lucky Toronto has been when the potential offseason trade with Malmo never went through. Instead of couple of seconds and thirds they managed to grab a potential lotto pick and a second round in the process. Plus Babushka, I think Moon doesn't mind to have him on his team too. Might be a depth peace in the future or not. Who knows. Anyways, nice deal for the Legion in my books.

For Seattle: Speaking of Sakamoto...when I started to write this article this trade wasn't a thing yet. But now Seattle grabbed another high cap defensive defenceman, but this time it's a 5.5M DFD. Unless any of Sakamoto/Nesbitt (or both) are upping the scoring skills like right now...I have no idea what is Bana trying to say here. These players are certainly better than Calix Pearce and Babushka, but is that exactly what they need right now? Also, they just assembled a roster with 4 high TPE defencemans and very often this strategy ends up in a first round exit at best. By looking at their current builds, I just don't understand how are they supposed to bring this team to the stardom. This is still a team with the limited scoring potential and unless these two are gonna stop with this 40/40 experiment; my grade for the trade for Seattle is gonna be an L.

*And no, the 9-1 run didn't convince me. If anything, the defence indeed became a better unit. But my opinion on their offensive potential stands.

    James Glove Dropper

For Riga: Our situation is rather simple. If I'm trading, then it's for some picks or youth. These two trades brought me picks, and I'm very fine about it. Considering I spent a third on Marconi this offseason, flipping him for a potential early second is a good result for us. And Glove Dropper may have some better stats in store since we're not stacked at all.

For LA: As of the moment of finishing this article the team was not enjoying lots of success so far. Ironically, Riga contributed to their struggles last sim by robbing full 2 points from them. The biggest concern this team has is still the forward lineup and Rockstar is trying to change this narrative. In theory, Glove dropper has a decent scoring skill, but in overall his skillset isn't very balanced. That definitely stopped him from reaching bigger milestones so Noodles here we come. Basically, the Italian has more balanced offensive build and also he is way younger. Even if Eynallow never comes back; his player is still going to be serviceable for 2 or 3 seasons down the road. Expecting more attempts from the Stars GM to boost their offensive potential.

For Riga: Same story. Matter of fact, this is a free third since Sunrise joined Riga via free agency. And as a result of this trade the Dutch with the long last name will have his last shot at the cup. Just this time, not in Chicago.

For Davos: Makes sense. They freed the cap space a bit with the Nesbitt trade so why not having an upgrade over Mathias who has never been a shooting master. Matter of fact, he is an E level player at best, but now Riga will try to make his statline somewhat respectable. Outside of +/- of course. By the way, Sunrise already have couple of points allocated to faceoff skill. Maybe Alex can tell him to upgrade that even further to finally have some 2C action.

There you have it, a little analysis about the 4 trades with half of them being mine. Nothing more to say about it.

Hi Everyone, and welcome to the VSN Season 85 Offseason Recap! In this article we will recap all the offseason moves made by every team. In addition to this we will have a VHL Season update article coming out later today.

    Written by: VSN Scouting ( @N0HBDY, @badcolethetitan, and @Doomsday)
Graphics by: @N0HBDY and @v.2  (backgrounds)

This offseason Chicago re-signed most of their expiring players and made one major trade to help bring the team into a prime competiting position. That trade brought in depth defenseman Juice Box and goaltender Cole Pearce @N0HBDY from London. The Phoenix still with only a 5-4-1 roster will likely be on the hunt for that final forward to complete this star studded Chicago team.     Calgary came out of the offseason having been pretty quiet with their only trades being during the draft. Their only real major move was drafting defenseman Phil Strasmore @Phil and calling them up right up. Otherwise Calgary mainly focused internally by locking up many of its players for multi-season deals, those players being Landon Wolanin @jacobcarson877, Leandro Goncalves @leandrofg, and AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment.     Davos’s offseason was relatively quiet with the Dynamo focusing on its younger players and locking them out for a couple more seasons, some less than others, but those players being Siyan Yasilievich@badcolethetitan, Pete Mitchell @Crstats23, and Jake Thunder @Thunder. Their only major moves were acquiring veteran Alex Johnston @Alex who’s on his last season for the cheap price of a third round pick, then signing goaltender David Davis @Josh for another season but no more than that per Davis’s demands.     D.C has filled out it's roster through calling up some of it's prospects and adding 3 players through free agency and trades. Coming in through a trade from Riga is forward Darth Kaprizov @Darth Kaprizov who is a huge addition along with free agency signings Nezuko @Baozi and Milan Dvorak @solas. The Dragons rock a 6-4-1 roster and 500k still available in cap space.     Helsinki this offseason was very quiet, some might say that they were too quiet. Well, with their GM going MIA and nobody being able to step in the helm, eventually their AGM took over and was able to make a few moves to try to salvage the disaster that is Helsinki. This team right now has two defenseman, a superstar goalie, and six forwards, which to be honest, isn’t as bad as it seemed. However, this team only made three moves, signing a couple players to just be able to compete. The best move they have had was signing Cobalt Burns @Ledge and getting him on board long term. Regardless, this team is in shambles and this season it’ll be very interesting to see what happens.     The Stars are making the most of the newly expanded salary cap with an 8-4-1 roster. The only way they brought in players was through the trade market which they managed to grab Brian Kowalski @Wheaties, Jason Argos @Insypher, and Sirdvaldis Miglaskems @FrostBeard. A relatively young roster that is entirely signed through S86 with no real long term commitments being made currently. Though with many highly prospective players to come up in the future such as Sebastien Dokis @Sebastien, Todd Cooke, and Reno Reinhold @Reno.     London started their offseaon by re-signing depth skaters Branden Skuin @DrunkMonkey23 and Ivan Retoslav @eagle_3450, while also trading away Juice Box @Siddhus and Cole Pearce @N0HBDY for a 1st. Finally moving into free agency the United managed to sign veteran Jerome Reinhart @MexicanCow123 and a younger Kakapo Bushtit @Esso2264 to finish out their 6-4-1 roster.     The Nighthawks were making moves from trading to signing player in free agency. Malmo brought in four players through trade, those players being Donny Carter @TheNeonShaman, Bob Chicoine @PoignardLeclerc11, Jakub Brozik @Viper, and Max Torq @Steve. Even after bringing in those four players they signed Bogdan Trunov @qripll from free agency and called up Noodles Marconi @Eynhallow to finish with a 6-4-2 roster.     The Menace stayed true to their roots this offseason with their priority being re-signing franchise goaltender Papa Emeritus @Beketov for what is now the rest of his career. Moscow acquired two players by trade, Jannik Nylen @DreMin15 and Robert Wilk @Tomat0 who will fill out the roster and hope to hang onto a competitive role.     New York was a lot like Malmo this offseason and have ended up piecing together a decent roster. Three prospects will join the Americans, Malum Maellard @frescoelmo, Doug Matchett @jacobaa19 and Daniel Weaver @ThePerfectNut. Three more players will come in from free agency, veteran Henri le Massif @Garsh, Poopy Peepants @JardyB10, and Taylor Mourning @scoop will join the Americans and beef up their front line talent. Lastly coming in from a trade is Weenuk Warrior @KnightRiley to finish out the New York 6-4-1 roster.     Prague this offseason has been continuing their rebuild, with signing most of their prospects to their entry level contracts. I still think it’s going to take maybe one more season for Prague to be able to at least play some meaningful games, but they are taking a step in the right direction. One player I want to point out is Nikolas Kauppi @Tetricide, who is a very active player and he will help bring life to the locker room. The future is bright for Prague and if they continue what they’ve been doing, they should be competing in no time.     Heading into this offseason Riga was looking to move into a rebuilding phase for the franchise. Through mainly free agency the Reign were able to piece together a roster of whatever they could get. Riga has obtained a decent amount of valuable picks which will come in handy to replace the majority of it's players who are set to retire in the next couple of seasons. Through free agency Riga brought in Bob Beach @Big Bob, Phoebe Bridgers @GrittyIsKing, Julia Waffles @Edustava, Ashton Komaryk @Komaryk, and Tyler Reinhart @Zetterberg. The last of it's incoming players came through trade where the Reign acquired Daniel Clarke @Danzo and John Baard @Birdman for a 6-4-1 roster.     Seattle went into the offseason over cap and needing to dump some of it's player's and got just that from Malmo and Los Angeles. Seattle dumped two high payroll players and filled them in with incoming prospects Chip Stone @DoktorFunk and Velociraptor Greg @samx. The Bears also signed one player through free agency, Calix Pearce @Laine, to fill out their defenseman and have a final 5-4-1 roster.     Toronto had a lot of rostered players before this offseason and needed to unload a couple more players on top of the ones that were expiring. The Legion traded 3 players for picks in the draft this past offseason. After the outgoing players Toronto then brought up 5 of its prospects, Harry Hagel@jasplunds, Calen McKay @Kendrick, Cole Caufield Jr @weekz, Alessio Simeoni @Alesime, and Tyler Busser @lil OG z. Toronto continues to run with its trend of having a young roster in recent seasons and shows it with a 7-4-1 roster.     Vancouver was making moves this offseason, through trades, free agency, and drafting the team has exploded into a competitive role once again after only a couple of seasons. The Wolves signed two notable players this offseason, Nico Pearce @Spartan being the first notable player to sign to Vancouver for a single season deal along with an NTC. The second notable player is veteran Anze Miklavz @kelvi who is on their last season but will have a huge impact for the Wolves roster. Vancouver also called up prospect Henry Eagles @Greg_Di after drafting him just this past offseason. Lastly to complete the roster through trades they also brought in Nathan Powers @JB123, Biggie Cheese @a_Ferk, and Alexander Leduc @Lemorse7.     Warsaw was kind of a one touch of each category this offseason, they dipped their toe into the free agency pool, trading pool, and the prospect pool each one time. After leaving for free agency Warsaw signed Har Singh Nalwa @Dil. Through trading the Predators brought Johnny Xavier @Johnny_HX. Lastly through the prospect pool Warsaw called up Sock Monkey @chikn to fill out whatever they can of the roster which is now a 6-3-1.
