    Bucatini Eligible for VHLE Draft

Houston -- As we enter the VHL offseason, a lot of the focus for the large S93 class has been where they'd land in the VHL Draft. But with so many players, it's bound to be just as chaotic of a draft on the VHLE side, where 19 players (more than 3 full rounds) in the S93 draft class would be eligible to play in the VHLE next season.

One of those is former Houston forward Antonia Bucatini, but her story is a bit more complex - given her current practice time, she would be eligible to skip the VHLE altogether if she so chose. In addition, she probably would be capped from practicing further in the VHLE due to league rules about competition.

Still, Bucatini held a press conference today to officially announce: She's forgoing a direct path to the VHL, instead planning to take a season in the VHLE.

"I think it's what's best for my development. I want to do a normal progression path, and I feel like I can really make an impact for some E team next year," Bucatini said.

Which team will that be? There's no way of knowing until next week. But Bucatini believes today's announcement may help clarify that path.

"I just didn't want any confusion whether or not I'd be eligible. So this is just to let the VHLE GMs know: I'm there to be chosen, and I'm ready to play."

Its OFFICIAL!!!  The Bratislava Watchmen have officially won the Renaissance Cup.  In a highly anticipated Cup Final versus the regular season’s best record holder, the Cologne Express.   The Watchmen struggled all season against them and must have lit some fire in the very balanced club this offseason.  They defeated the Express in four straight games, never taking their foot off the gas.

Potential playoff candidate, Karol Lamb @dlamb showed how versatile he is ending up tying for lead the playoffs in points with 15.  He did EVERYTHING, handling the back end defensively and punishing with his offensive upside showing why Chicago picked him 8thoverall last draft.

Forward Eno Velvson @Nykonaxalso lit it up tying Lamb for playoff leader in points (15).  In net, Pip Popa @npuBeT dominated the offseason, only losing one game with a 1.78 GAA and 1 shutout showing he is also deserving of some offseason trophies.

Congrats to all Watchmen, past and present for a deserving championship.  And congrats to @roryRory for putting together such a fun club.

1: If you were to make a brand of hockey stick what'd you want it to be called?
Honestly, that's a pretty good question. You'd have to stick out and appeal to the youngin's, because almost nobody would change to a new brand mid-career. Maybe something like the Howler. I don't know, I just use them, I ain't no marketing expert!
2: Would you consider the Phoenix to be buyers or sellers at this season's deadline?
The trade deadline has already passed, but I assume the team was passive sellers. The structure seems pretty solid here in Chicago, and the team is just waiting for their players to develop and prospects to grow. They'd be dumb not to listen to offers, but I would assume no big moves were made.
3: How many goals will your player score this season?
Great question. Karol's offense hasn't been the greatest over in Bratislava, but I'm hoping to pot a few more before the year is over and maybe I can squeak into double digits. I'm fine with 6 as long as we keep winning, though.
5: Are you keeping track of prospects for the NHL draft? If so, who looks good to you?
Yeah, I've actually been quite invested in Canadian youth hockey and University hockey recently, so I have been quite interested in the past few drafts. Russians Ivan Demidov and Anton Silayev are both superstars in the making but really haven't been given the media hype despite being ranked very high. My steal of the draft is going to be my local team's best player, Kevin He - who certainly isn't getting any media love but is budding pro talent.
6: Who is the MVP of your favorite hockey team right now?
The easy answer would be David Pastrnak, but since it popped into my head first, I'll answer it with 2 other players, in the form of a GIF:

7: What's your favorite album of all time?
There's probably about 20 albums I could name here if you ask me 20 different times, but since I just recently listened to it front to back I'll go with Virtue by The Voidz. Saw them in concert last November and it was UNREAL.

dlamb reacted to Scurvy in Theme Week S83 All-Stars
Theme week is upon us and that means my player, Logan Ninefingers gets some much-needed TPE before the jump to the show.   I wanted to talk about the All-Stars that populated the league when my first gen player, Brian Payne joined the league.  It was at a time when Payne was in his rookie season, and I watched the vets with super high TPE light up the box scores night in and night out.  So for this theme I thought I’d try to make the perfect all-star team for S83.

    CENTER:
At the center position there were some beauties lighting up the league.  I am not sure if this was the meta change or not but there were some huge numbers being put up.

My first pick at center for this season would be Calgary’s Saku Kotkakoivu @DollarAndADream.  He had 59g 63a= 122points leading the league and was point leader.  In later seasons his production dipped a bit but still was a beast scoring 678 points in 574 games.

Pick two would have to go to Paul Atreidas @Mr_Hatter from Toronto.  61goals 59assists= 120 points. The first overall pick in S77.  While small he was never short on numbers. He loved to shoot the puck and amassed an amazing 3600 shots in his career.  In S83 he helped lead Moscow to a dominant season

    Right Wing:
The pick for right wing was equally hard but would have to go with Alex Johnston @Alexfrom Riga.  Alongside fellow right wing Anze Miklavz  he scored 58g 55a=113. Big and gritty AJ could hit, pass, and score so while the league was stacked with great wingers,  I had to go with him.

    Honorable mentions at RW:
    Duncan Idaho @OrbitingDeath
    Vasile Lamb @dlamb
    Anze Miklavz @ke1vi

    Left Wing:
For left wing I had to go with the #2 overall pick int eh S77 draft, Reylynn Reinhart @Ricer13.  RR’s point totals really jumped In the latter part of the career.  A 56 goal scorer in S82, in S83 RR scored 45g 54a for 99 pts. RR could hit too and had size to score those ugly goals.  An easy pick for S83 all-star.

    Honorable mentions:
    Kyle Peace (Tor) @Peace
    Zach Kisslinger II @Kisslinger
    Brendan Marner @MetalToday

    Defense:
Ok now for my favorite position and there are some serious legends that played that season to include two that scored over 30 goals and weren’t even the point leaders.

While I think that the top ten-point leaders on defense could easily be on this list I picked Jerome Reinhart @MexicanCow123.  He scored a crazy 35goals and 69 assists (104).  Now he was a minus 15 that season on a New York team that didn’t make the playoffs.  I think this makes this pick for an all-star in that even on a struggling club he put up some amazing numbers.

To pair with JR I picked Riga’s monster Dman, Battre Sandstrom @Acydburn. The Sterling Labatte Trophy winner that seasons he scored 28 goals 76 assists for 104 points.  17 of his 28 goals came on the power play and he added 256 hits and 129 blocked shots showing just why he won the trophy for best defenseman.

    Honorable mention:
Aurelien Moreau (TOR) @Frank   Point leader that season.
    Hard Markinson (MOS) @STZ
    Tom Eagles (LDN) @Greg_Di
    Hari Singh Nalwa (WAR) @Dil
    Bo Johansson (Rookie) @Shindigs

    Goalie:
Again, some great goalies to pick from by was easily Xavier Booberry @CowboyinAmerica.  XB went OFF this season with 40 wins 18 losses with a league leading 1.92 GAA and 10 shutouts!  Yes, 10!  In S83 he won the Brett Slobodzian, Aidan Shaw Trophy, and Greg Clegane Trophy.

    Honorable Mentions:
    Tobias Reinhart @Spaz
    Em Em Flex @oilmandan
    Oskar Lindbergh @Doomsday
    Brandt Fuhr @Tate

dlamb reacted to Scurvy in Storm Struggling
The Oslo Storm have had a very inconsistent start and while they have shown glimpses of brilliance, they have been unable to battle out of the bottom of the VHLE standings.  While they were not picked to be a dominant as Cologne or Bratislava, they have been competitive against the best teams at times.

A quick look at the perils that are keeping this club from being dominant.  First, must be goal production.  They work hard every night and often lose games by one goal which shows a few tweaks, and they could be sitting pretty but goal production is the second lowest in the league.  Just 81 goals in 32 games are not going to get it done against such good talent.

Next, would have to be team defense. The Storm have allowed 109 goals, the most in the league this is with two goalies that have been great for the club.

So, what can the Storm do going forward into the second half of the season?  Well, the team has talent for sure and with wins of Cologne, Bratislava, and Stockholm this season its simply a matter of finding the right momentum to keep the club consistent.

There is only 5 points separating third place Stockholm from last place Oslo so if they can get hot, they will make a move into playoff contention, where anything can happen.  #GOSTORM
