@hylands, thank you so much for your time in Malmo! I'm glad we were able to piece things together here and really want to wish you well in New York!!

How far the mighty fall when perched atop the league only to be swept immediately in the playoffs. Ultimately again, expectations were dashed a bit within the Nighthawks locker room. We enter yet another off-season with some disappointment and dreams shaken. While we did win the Victory Cup, it's certainly not the most desired cup compared to the Continental Cup. There should be some player hardware taken home during the awards, but still I'm a bit disheartened by the outcome and the slow dissipation of the team's prime window for competition. You can't win them all. But for the players who chose to remain with the Nighthawks, I wish we certainly could have ended with a much better resolution.

My drive remains ambitious for this team to do even better. We've always got work to do, and things to change or tweak. There's still some time to get things done and I will not let the team fade quietly into the night. Malmo will enter S93 with an even greater ambition to compete at an elite level.

Thank you Acyd for the great times in Prague! I'm glad we were able to get a cup with Laperriere and appreciate your dedication to the players you GMed. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and I wish you well!!

Theme week rolls around, and it's a great one! I love reading all about the different all-star takes they have for the topic, whether its players who deserve to play in an event right now or past players who should have. But I want to take an additional step back. I mentioned something before about how we need more community involvement while the season progresses or when the off-season commences. Instead of focusing on the players currently in the multiple leagues...

We should have an event for the users. The All-Star Event for the VHL Community.

This would be a great addition to add for both retention and competitive fun! We can go back to having graphics contests, creating banners for the previous cup winners, featuring fantastic media spots and posts from the past season, even having march madness style brackets for things the community wants to vote on (pets, favorite foods, etc.). The idea focuses solely on the users sitting at their screens or checking their phones everyday. We have enough focus on the players being simmed. Let's highlight the users that make up the community. I love to see all of the interactions with the Christmas event and I think that level of users checking in can be seen if we have an All-Star community event like this every off-season. I'm not saying we need to have a massive raffle for prizes, but why not throw out some fun uncapped TPE for the best graphics, best media spots, or winner of the VHL Pet Bracket.

I say this because I believe we desperately need something to remain focused on, especially during the off-season. Every time a season ends, I'm met with "wow this off-season is taking forever!" or "what do we do at this point?". We wait sometimes to an extreme length for the season to begin. And I feel like many users start to lose focus during that time period. That's where you put something like the All-Star Event for the VHL Community. We should take a week when activity is at its lowest and make a point to showcase our talents and highlight the many users who contribute to the community through different forms of creativity.

Even adding on additional points, this is a great opportunity to take some of these users and highlight them on our recruiting platforms, like TikTok or Instagram. No you don't have to post their graphics but taking the effort to say "Congrats to this certain member for this fantastic article! Check it out here!" and then link it in the reel or tiktok would draw in even more users. If they see that actual people are a part of this community and that we have active events going on, they may be interested.

At least I think so. I don't know I'm just throwing this out there for theme week while I'm trying to get my family ready for a vacation out in Florida. We're going to Lego Land this Saturday but my kids have no idea yet

GAME 279: Prague Phantoms vs Chicago Phoenix

The game began with both teams immediately gunning on offense. Chicago opened with the first goal on the powerplay from Michael Shotter, only to have the game tied up by Fred Hampton with Prague all within the first 5 minutes or so. Prague would take the lead near the end of the first with a scoop and score goal by Velociraptor Greg following a missed shot by Nicholas Kauppi. In the second period, defenses would prevail for nearly half of the period until Chicago tied it up with a fantastic offensive attack from their 2nd line that resulted in a goal for Legacy Gaming. Now at this point, the game was even. However, there have been some witness reports indicating that Yaroslav Trunov was given a secret water bottle containing some sort of supplement near the end of the 2nd period. Whether that is to be confirmed remains to be seen, but Trunov did score twice in a span of 30 seconds following that water bottle event. Chicago would lead for the rest of the game and close out a victory against Prague, winning 4-2. Trunov continues to dazzle on all accounts as the Phoenix fight for a wildcard spot in the NA conference.

1.     Ben McLaughlin and Elle Aura Ashe traded to Prague for Vinny Lecavalier and S93 VAN 2nd? What do you think of the trade and did we get enough for two players in the trade? Why or Why not?

 

2.     Fraser Wallace was traded to Toronto for Cole Caufield jr (welcome back) and S94 TOR 3rd? Did you like this trade? Why or why not?

 

3.     Braeden Panarella was also traded for an S94 DCD 3rd? Again what do you think of the trade?

 

4.     With selling off more assets of assets that we didn`t have; it means it will be tough to win another game this season. How are you going to keep yourself motivated with all the losing that should come?

 

5.     Losing means a really good draft pick in the first round; Who should we try to draft and why?

 

6.     Theme week is just around the corner, what do you think this year’s theme week will be and What should it be?

 

 

1). I think it was a smart trade with the sudden influx of users earning a decent amount that can be selected in the S93 draft. There's potential to grab someone that will really benefit the franchise!

2). I'm indifferent behind it, really wouldn't have an opinion here.

3). Same thing, indifferent. We're stocking up on picks which makes sense though!

4). The dream is the future. It will be tough right now but the focus should be ahead of us, not on the games being played right now.

5). I'd lean towards either Gianfranco Del Rocco or Antonia Bucatini if we can get one of them.

6). I'd like to go back to a fun theme or something super creative. Maybe something along the lines of "Invision the VHL in the future 50 seasons from now"

Here we are just one week into the season but the Vancouver Wolves have been better than expected at this point of the season and are showing some bite with a 500 record. 1). I do, we have a young team here with a new core coming up soon. It's a great way to let this new leadership group form on its own!

2). Yeah I do, since this involves me a bit  I think a leader can be anyone on the team, and if the players all vote for the goalie then he deserves to wear a C.

3). I think we'd be lucky if we squeeze into the wildcard round, however I wouldn't be surprised if we missed out.

4). No, but we can't openly tank. But it would be nice to still have a top pick by not making the playoffs.

5). Some of our games against big opponents have shown flashes of brilliance from the wolves' end. I did not expect us to do as well in those games!

6). I'd say water but I think that's only answering the back half of this lol.
