Is it snowing Yet where you live?

Answer three questions for one TPE or all six for two TPE. As always have fun!!

    1.     Traded Brandt Fuhr and Jaun Sano III to New York for S93 NYA 3rd; What do you think of this trade?

    2.     We no longer have a tender so who do you think we should dress in pads for few games?

    3.     Now Last in the North American conference; Are you concerned?

    4.     Do you like Snow or rain? Why?

    5.     Has recruitment really be that big of an issue in the VHL at the moment or is it just a slight down turn in numbers?

    6.     Riddle: What is full of holes but still holds water?

1). My opinions would have been different if we had not brought in Justin Lion and Justin Williams. I think it was a good move to get a trade piece to bring in a stepping stone goalie and a player signed long term!

2). Easy, get the mascot to come in!

3). Nope, Vancouver should get back to a good rhythm.

4). Snow, it's gentler and much more peaceful.

5). It is an issue. The effort is pretty bare, at least from where I can see things.

    6). Spongebob Squarepants

Another season rolls around, and it's time to name our leadership group! We've got a great team assembled in Malmo, and I'm excited to have these individuals lead our team in S91!

    A - Ash Sparks @DarkSpyro

A staple of the Nighthawks for some time now, Sparks has helped promote the spirit of the Nighthawks in our locker room consistently. We're extremely honored to have him on our team and look forward to this season with him in net for us!

    A - Henry Eagles @Greg_Di

After coming over last season to Malmo, Eagles has shown to be a great leader on our team and continues to push us to be better. His commitment to the Nighthawks has been tremendous, especially after this past season for the whole team, and we're thrilled to have him on the team!

    C - Viktor Jensen @Advantage

Representing the team since he was selected 1st overall in S89, Jensen exchanges his A letter this season for the C. A great motivator and member of the team, Viktor represents the very best of the Nighthawks as we push to new heights for the team. I'm extremely proud to name him our Captain for S91!

A big congratulations to our leadership group this season, and LET'S GO NIGHTHAWKS!!

    Captain oh Captain!!

Earlier today the Vancouver Wolves announced their new captains for a new season. Heck, even a new season as it should start rather sooner than later until I realize that I am a full day ahead of most of you. Never mind!!

    1.     Do you think that FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY Analfist @STZ is the right choice to replace the legendary Pierre Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito as Captain? Why or Why not?

    2.     Justin Adolfsen @NJDevils24 was named in his final season as an assistant captain, was this a good choice?

    3.     Can Liv Slater @Subject056 live up to all the hype in replacing Brain Payne @Scurvy and Pierre Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito; not only as leader but on the back-end anchoring the defense for the Wolves for years to come?

    4.     What does a successful season for the Vancouver Wolves look like heading into S91?

    5.     Can the Vancouver Wolves play meaningful hockey down the stretch and have a chance at the Wildcard spot?

    6.     Who leads the team in scoring this season and with how many points?

1). Absolutely, he'll be a great face for the franchise as the next Vancouver dynasty begins to form!

2). He deserves a letter on his journey after being in the league for quite some time!

3). I think they can, we need a future presence on the blue line and it's a great place to start.

4). A successful season should be focused on individual stats as we rebuild. We already have a boat load of 1st round picks, but it may prove beneficial to trade some of them away to garner more young superstars given that this upcoming draft will not be as strong.

5). Honestly, I think they can. The NA conference is pretty open behind Toronto, I can see the Wolves making a push.

6). Analfist, I'll go with 35 goals and 39 assists for a grand total of 74 points.

  4. What a career with an incredible franchise! Thank you @Acydburn for a wonderful experience with this player, and I’m glad we were finally able to win a cup, capped off with one final overtime game winning goal by Laperriere to bring it home!

A big thanks to all my teammates with helping Perry get to these levels of stats, it’s been an absolute pleasure serving as a long-standing captain and teammate to each of you.

  5. With the off-season underway, Dalkr Vidarsson finds himself on a plane flying to a country he'd never been to. After receiving a single scouting interview from a team (to which Dalkr completely missed it until after he had been picked🤦‍♂️) for the VHLE draft, Dalkr wisely decided to spend the draft sitting at home. What he thought would be a quick ordeal turned into a marathon that afternoon. The first round, where Dalkr thought he'd go, came and went. No team selected him or gave him a call. Thinking he'd at least go in the first 2 rounds, Dalkr patiently waited. But the 2nd round came and went as well, along with the 3rd and 4th round. 3 other goalies were selected before Vidarsson's name was called/

As he sat and reflected on the possibility that teams might not need a goalie, he realized what this meant for his career. He had seen a goalie go in the 1st round, so concerns for his VHLM season came to mind. Had he done enough? Were his statistics a reflection of what could be a lackluster career? Was he held back by the team he played for? A lot of thoughts crossed his mind, until finally - in the 5th round at pick 30 - Rome selected Dalkr Vidarsson to start for the Gladiators. Finally, the weight lifted off of his shoulders. The Greenland goalie would have a team to play for in the VHLE.

Sitting on the plane from Las Vegas to Rome, Dalkr had a chance to sit down and really view the Gladiators' roster. They have 2 competent forward lines, 2 strong defenders, and himself at goalie. If anything, they could at least use another defenseman or two to round out their pairings, but that would depend on if Rome's management is looking to compete this season. It sure looks like it from Dalkr's perspective, but time will tell what shall be decided by his boss in the VHLE. With how the rest of the teams are situated, Rome could be looking at missing the playoffs if they don't play their cards right. Granted, adding some defenders could change things, but with seemingly every team built for contention minus Oslo, it could be a long season with Rome. Dalkr will just have to put together his best out there on the ice and hope to help Rome push to the playoffs.

  6. As the drafts approach quickly, Dalkr Vidarsson accidentally left his rankings written down on a napkin in a restaurant. A server picked up the napkin, was then bribed for food by one of the kitchen staff in exchange for that napkin, who called a newspaper reporter in Greenland he knew, who then flew down to Las Vegas and padded the kitchen staffer’s bank account with a nice check and took that napkin back on his connecting flight through New York, who then lost the napkin while grabbing his carry-on luggage from above his seat in the plane, which was then grabbed by a flight attendant who posted it to her social media which was then picked up by the VSN and published here.

Alright, none of that happened, but it gives this plain “here’s my rankings” a bit of pizzazz. So here we go, Dalkr Vidarsson’s rankings of teams who could select him in both the VHL and the VHLE.

Starting with the VHLE, there’s not a whole lot of teams who really need a goalie and who have the draft capital to spend on Vidarsson. Granted, there’s not a whole lot of teams in the E, so there’s that too. Here’s the VHLE rankings:

    #6: Bratislava Watchmen

Flat out, they have no need for a goalie like Dalkr. Jonny Elgar - while not the greatest earning goalie - should remain their starter next season with the potential to stay for an additional season. Additionally, Bratislava has let Vidarsson know they will not be selecting him in the upcoming draft. So this one is a guaranteed no.

    #5: Vasteras Iron Eagles

This is Karl Herzlich and Olivier Gauthier’s team, and they will be the starters next season. Adding a 3rd goalie to the mix would simply reduce playing time across the board. With no picks in the first 4 rounds, the likelihood of Vidarsson being an Iron Eagle is extremely low.

    #4: Cologne Express

While Cologne does have some draft capital, they also still Clark earning well enough to garner the starting job this season with a good chance of keeping it the following season. If Dalker played here, he’d more than likely be a backup his first season with a possible split time starting position next season as well. While not the worst thing in the world, 3 other teams would provide a better situation for Dalkr.

    #3: Stockholm Vikings

A pretty good fit for the Greenland native playing for the Vikings, Stockholm could be the team that selects Vidarsson. With their starting goalie moving up to the VHL this next season and an IA goalie just over 200 TPE left to fend the net, Dalkr would walk in and be the starter from day one. It would simply come down to what moves Stockholm would pull come draft day if they were interested in taking Dalkr, let alone any goalie in this draft.

    #2: Rome Gladiators

Rome could be an excellent fit, especially with an aging goalie on his way out. Dalkr could again be the starter from the get go or wait a season for Rome to build up more. They have the draft picks to select him. Their team - although losing some key pieces - does look strong enough to make a playoff push the next season or in S92. An overall great destination, only one team beats them out just slightly.

    #1: Oslo Storm

This would be the most ideal place for Dalkr Vidarsson in the VHLE draft. Their current goalie is old and has lower TPE than Dalkr. They don’t seem keen on losing too many players. And they have two 1st round picks in the upcoming draft, meaning Dalkr Vidarsson could potentially be selected here. If I had to really guess, Olober Syko or Red Panda would probably be selected over Dalkr Vidarsson, but for any goalie in this draft this could be the team to go to for maximum playing time.

    -

There you have the E, and to make this concise, let’s go right into the top VHL teams for Dalkr Vidarsson. However, this is going to be a little different than just a straight up right down the line list. I’ve broken up teams into tiers based on what draft picks they have available in the upcoming draft while also observing their need for a goalie like Dalkr Vidarsson. So without further ado:

No Need for Dalkr Tier (#13 New York Americans, #12 Calgary Wranglers, #11 Chicago Phoenix)

While these teams all have picks within the range Dalkr Vidarsson could go, they have their goalie of the future locked down already. It would be rather unusual to spend the draft capital on adding yet another goalie who will more than likely push over 1000 TPE in his career this soon. Mainly rebuilding teams, they’ll more than likely pass on Vidarsson when their picks arrive.

Already Have a Goalie and Have Needs Elsewhere Tier (#10 London United, #9 Riga Reign, #8 Helsinki Titans, #7 HC Davos Dynamo, #6 Prague Phantoms)

In this tier, the starting goalies are a bit older. If the teams really wanted to, they could grab Dalkr to become a starter in the future once their other starting goalie begins to decline. But their needs are greater elsewhere. London could use a good defensive prospect or another forward to complement their roster unless they decide to nuke it and rebuild. Riga will desperately need defensemen to keep that forward core going and could very well use their draft picks to bring one in. HC Davos looks to be pushing towards a rebuild and it remains to be seen if Lachlan is staying in Davos. If he does get moved, Davos could jump up a tier or two. Helsinki seems to be set competing and will probably grab the best player overall at pick 19, which could fluctuate depending on who the Titans like. Prague looks set to win a cup this season, and will look to add some depth across the board while still running with their current starter. I mean, almost all of the teams in this tier could maybe grab Dalkr if they swung to a rebuild or pivoted and grabbed Dalkr at the end of the 1st or in the beginning of the 2nd, but with the few goalie prospects in this draft that are excellent, there’s a couple of choices they may look to before Dalkr is selected.

Definite Need, but Pick Doesn’t Line Up (#5 D.C. Dragons, #4 Warsaw Predators, #3 Los Angeles Stars)

These three teams would be good fits for Dalkr. The only problem that stands in the way of Vidarsson becoming a Predator, a Dragon, or a Star is where their picks are in the upcoming draft. The Dragons have their first pick at 29th overall, late in the second round. I don’t see Dalkr lasting that long in this draft. Same goes for Warsaw with picks at 2nd, 27th, and 28th overall. Warsaw has someone else they’ll select at 2nd, and I don’t see Dalkr being on the board beyond the beginning of the second round. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, the Stars pick is at 12th overall. Minding the teams in front of LA, I wouldn’t be surprised if LA grabs Olober Syko or Red Panda as their future goalie, or if they select their GM’s player Theo Allard. Again, these teams could be a great fit for Dalkr, but I just don’t see it lining up in the draft.

The Likely Destinations Tier (#2 Vancouver Wolves, #1 Moscow Menace)

And we finally get to the teams where Dalkr Vidarsson will more than likely end up (and where he’d love to play I might add). Vancouver has no prospects but does have a number of good players on their roster. There might be a hiccup in competing as the old starter depreciates and retires along with some players, but they look to still have a solid core that will need to rely on another starting goalie in a few seasons time. Absolutely perfect for Dalkr, who in about 2 seasons will be pushing beyond 500 TPE. The only question will be if Vidarsson is still available at their only pick in the first 2 rounds, 24th overall. While Vancouver looks solid all around, Moscow is in the midst of a full rebuild. But that’s not a bad thing at all. Dalkr will need time to develop, and they already have a few fantastic prospects moving up to the VHL this next season. Armed with a multitude of picks in the first 2 rounds, Moscow does not have a goalie for the future lined up and could look to Dalkr to stand in net for their future competing team.

    -

There you have it, Dalkr Vidarsson’s rankings on who could potentially select him. Let it be prefaced first, Dalkr Vidarsson would be open to playing just about anywhere that selects him, so this list does not stand to disparage any particular franchise.

    Final prediction for Dalkr Vidarsson:

VHLE - selected 11th overall by the Stockholm Vikings

VHL - selected 13th overall by the Moscow Menace

Word count: 1530, counting for weeks 10/15, 10/22, and 10/29

  7. With the Las Vegas Aces season done with a playoff series loss, Dalkr Vidarsson is mentally preparing for the next phase of his hockey career. More than likely, he'll spend a season or two in the VHLE with an organization as he builds up in TPE before moving up to the VHL. While some may be gunning to quickly supplant themselves into the top league, Vidarsson is looking to take his time. He wants to develop more and work with both organizations that draft him to be sure he's ready to take over the starting goaltender position when the time is right without rushing things.

So with everything coming up this next off-season, Dalkr Vidarsson does have some high hopes. He's pretty open to playing wherever he is selected, and does have interest in a few teams that have the draft capital to select him in both leagues. But what Dalkr is really wanting is playing time. He enjoyed having the starting position in Las Vegas and is ready to show how Greenland's goalie will fair in the next league. For now, he's enjoying the off-season by golfing and traveling and is looking forward to both draft nights for the VHLE and the VHL!
