Vancouver Wolves Defenseman Jeff Downey Changing Up Game Vancouver, British Columbia – It is no secret that this past season ended in large disappointment for the Vancouver Wolves. After finishing the season first in the league they managed to squeak by the Toronto Legion in the first round before being knocked off by the eventual cup champions in the Seattle Bears. We caught up with the team’s second pairing defenseman Jeff Downey about his season and his plans going forward. ‘It really was a difficult end to an otherwise great season for this squad. I think I improved fairly substantially from my first year and hope to do so going forward here into season 70. For the first two years of my career I have mainly been a defensive guy with a penchant for getting into passing lanes and using my positioning to make some defensive plays. Going forward I am going to be putting my large frame to work much more often. I am going to be adding a physical piece to my game that hasn’t been seen before. I think it will greatly improve my usefulness on the ice and should actually lead to more offensive production as well.’ Downey has definitely bulked up over the offseason so it should be interesting to see what his physical game looks like in season 70.

It is great to bring in a player with Tzuyu's talent level. I'll have to come back and judge this as the season progresses. Vancouver is going to be first and that is all that matters. I want 50+ points and to really start racking up some hits. Definitely the Tzuyu addition. More than likely HHH

1. How are you feeling right now? I'm feeling pretty bad if I'm being honest. 2. What do you think we could have done better? We needed to keep up our spread out scoring we had in the first round. 3. What do you think was our downfall? Our depth not scoring in the second round. 4. What should we do to fix that issue in the future? I'm not sure. I think we may have just gotten unlucky. 5. Do you think we did something wrong or just the sims just hated us this season? We came up against an evenly matched squad and came out on the short end. 6. What is one good thing about Seattle? Their depth.

Wolves, Downey, Fall Short Against Seattle Vancouver, British Columbia – After a very impressive regular season which saw the Vancouver Wolves finish first in the league they have fallen in the second round in seven games to the Seattle Bears. Second year defenseman Jeff Downey had a very good first series where he managed to put up nine assists in seven games. His torrid play would slow down a great amount in the second round as he only managed to put up one goal in six games along with no assists. ‘It was disappointing; there is no other way to put it. After such a successful regular season I thought we would have had more playoff success. I’m sure we will come back next year with an improved squad and take another run at a championship but this year felt so right, this felt like it was the year. I just got to train in the offseason and try to come back next season to have a bigger impact and get this team even further than we did this year.’ The Wolves will have a hard time repeating their success of this season next year as they will be losing their top defender Diljodh Starload to retirement.

Gotta keep it rolling here. We are down 3-2 to Seattle and if we lose it was all for nothing. Coming in I was confident, and I still am, but I am nervous. Going to keep working on my puck handling and skating. I'm taking the trophy back to my hometown. I want to be remembered as a player who did everything he could to bring this team success. I ended up going out with my buddies and maybe drinking a bit too much. I don't think it has affected my play here in the second round.
