You’re contract should show up in the portal, where you go to player management, and you go to contracts. From there, if Mississauga has offered you a contract, you can accept that there

In the dead of night, on December 8th, 2020, a trade was announced between the Las Vegas Aces and the Yukon Rush. It marked the path that both teams were going to take that season; the Aces, a deep playoff run and perhaps a Founder's Cup, and the Rush, a stockpiling of draft picks and prospects. This was made official when the Rush shipped off Juniper, now a VHLM-maxed winger, to the Aces in exchange for Nathan Askarov and a second round pick in the upcoming dispersal draft. After the trade, we caught up to an exhilarated Juniper.

Reporter: Well, Sheldon, the news is out. You are now a member of the Las Vegas Aces. What's going through your head right now?

Sheldon Juniper: Mostly just "Oh my god, I just got traded". @fromtheinside, our AGM in Yukon, sent me an email to let me know in advance, which I really appreciated. @MexicanCow123 and him have been so good to me, so if you guys are watching this, thank you. It's been a pleasure to be on the Rush, and I hope you guys are successful next season.

Reporter: The team you are joining, the Aces, are clearly in a win-now mode, and you were obviously acquired to help the team win. How do you feel about that?

SJ: I'm honored that someone would think so highly of me to trade picks for me, and I'm looking for my second championship now with the Aces. It's cool to be thinking about going for the cup again. I haven't been playing at my best in Yukon, and I've had quite a few scoring slumps. It did feel good to get a hat trick a couple games ago, but I think a change in scenery might be for the better.

Reporter: Another product of this trade has been you being reunited with your friend, Swedish defenceman Linus Zetterstrom @Ledge_and_Dairy. What's it like playing professional hockey with one of your best friends?

SJ: Yeah, it's cool to be with Linus. He's a good guy, and it's cool that we might win a cup together. We obviously haven't seen much of each other recently, with him being in Vegas and me being in Yukon, and it being in the middle of the season, so it'll be fun to be on a team with him for this playoffs before he goes to Riga and I go to Vancouver next year.

Reporter: The Aces also recently received Dan Dan and Jordan Tate, two very good forwards from the Mississauga Hounds, to even further bolster their offensive depth. How do you like your odds in the playoffs?

SJ: To quote the Mandalorian, "I like those odds". I love that show by the way. Anyway, I really do like our odds. Dan Dan and Jordan Tate are huge additions, and I think we have what it takes to win the cup. I know the Reapers and the Kings are both really good, but I think if we get a little luck we can pull it off

Like @Blazzer  I’m not the best at emotional responses but I wanted to bring up a few important things here.

    1. I’m glad you had the courage to do this but more importantly I’m glad you felt comfortable enough with the community to share this important part of yourself. There’s a good portion of our history where we were looked at, both internally and externally, as being not the most welcoming of places. We’ve been doing our best to change that and this kind of comfort, the comfort to freely be who you are, is important to us. So thank you.

    2. Also thank you for the very detailed and well written explanation. Personally I have several non-binary friends so must if it I’ve known for a bit but this community is pretty vast so not everyone would have the same experiences and there may be a lot of members who would be confused.

    3. On the note of confusion, we’ll do our best to make sure you, nor anyone else, has to deal with intentional hurtful comments as we always have. As you touched on, however, making that switch for some may be difficult. Luckily forums lend themselves well to this person pronouns already since gender isn’t implied in here so that helps... I’m rambling. My main point was that I hope, and your post gives every indication that it will be the case, you can be patient with those who are attempting to be respectful but may need an adjustment time. This is especially true for members who join after this and maybe will not have seen it. I may look into whether it’s possible to add a custom profile field for pronouns to help people.

Anyway, that got long winded but thank you for being you @fishy. I would never want anyone in the league to feel like they need to hide who they are.

I'm honestly so moved (and almost overwhelmed?!?!) by the positivity, support, and warmth you all have expressed. It means so much to me that, after all the worrying I did, this is the response I'm getting. I'm touched, I feel supported, and really, really proud of this league for preaching and practicing inclusivity. ❤️

Thank you for choosing to be open with us all here! I have a lot of respect for you for making this post.

This league is a place which absolutely needs to be a safe space for this type of thing--if we'd turn away anyone for any reason beyond their control, we cannot in good conscience call ourselves a welcoming and inclusive community. This applies to everything--race, gender, sexuality, age, you name it.

Best of wishes to you and a ton of respect. I hope things are going well for you and I hope you know we're here to help and listen if you need it.

    Greetings, VHL!

By now, a handful of you probably know who I am one way or another.

If you don’t, then hi, I’m fishy!!!!!!

After a lot of thought and back and forths, I’ve decided to make this announcement. I’ve spent so much mental and emotional energy thinking about how you all would react to it and worrying whether I would be alienated from the community as a result of sharing this with all of you. After rolling the idea around in my head for a little over a month and a couple discussions with folks in this league, I’ve come to realize that it’s not worth the stress or worry that I’ve been giving it.

With that being said, I’d like to make a public notice that I’ve come out as non-binary and am requesting that you refer to me with they/them pronouns from this point forward.

I know that this topic may be unfamiliar to a lot of you, which is why I’m going to take this opportunity to educate you, to the best of my ability as someone who is still learning, about what this experience has been like and means to me. I know this post is long, but I kindly ask that you skim through it.
    ----------------------------------------------------
What does it mean to be non-binary?
This is a really big question, especially because non-binary is an umbrella term under “transgender.” I am only me, which means that I can only speak on behalf of my own experience and what it means to me as an individual, not everyone in the community. I realized that I was non-binary when I felt disconnected from she/her pronouns and traditional signs of womanhood. Without going into a lot of detail, I don’t feel that identifying as a cisgender* woman is the most true & honest representation of myself. To be non-binary is to identify outside of a “man” or “woman” label. Here’s the best representation I can give you:

Think of gender as a spectrum, looking something like this:
       [ --------------------------------------------------------------]
    Man                                                                   Woman

For me, my gender exists outside of that “woman” area. Different people have different understandings of where the boundaries for man and woman are. Here’s a visible representation of where I feel like I exist on the gender spectrum:
       [ --------------------------------[---------------]---------------]
    Man                                                                    Woman

*: To be cisgender is to identify with the gender that traditionally correlates with your birth sex. For example, my body has female biology, which means that my sex is female. To be cisgender would mean that my gender identity would be woman. The majority of people you talk to are probably cisgender.

What’s the difference between sex and gender?
Sex is biological, and gender is social. Someone’s sex is typically determined by their bodies. Gender is typically assigned in accordance with a person’s sex.

The issue is that many people understand these two different identities as the same thing. However, gender only exists because we, as humans, decided it does. That’s it. That’s the only reason.

I don’t want to go into a lot of detail here in order to avoid simply ranting, but I’m happy to discuss it further if you’d like to talk more about it.

Well, they/them are the third-person plural form, and you’re only one person.
You may not realize it, but English speakers actually use they/them in the singular quite often. Here’s an example:

Person 1: “Oh, yeah, my cousin really liked that movie!”
Person 2: “What was their favorite part? Did they think that the ending was as epic as I did?!”

Feels natural, right? I do recognize that it feels odd to use they/them intentionally, but it’s not as weird when you realize you already do it.
    ----------------------------------------------------
I understand how confused you may be. I also recognize that, if you’ve gotten used to referring to me with she/her, that it may be difficult to make the mental switch.

I also understand that this may be something you still feel really uncomfortable with. For that reason, although I strongly prefer they/them, it’s okay with me if you continue to use she/her. However, I ask that, if you do make this decision, you do so consciously and work to educate yourself on trans experiences. This post barely scratches the surface, and I’m only one person who can only speak on behalf of my own experiences. Additionally, if you do continue to use she/her, I ask that you make a point to refrain from using words like “girl,” “woman,” “girlfriend,” or the likes out of respect for that fact that I do not identify with those terms.

I will not tolerate intentionally disrespectful or transphobic comments, and I will not hesitate to report anyone who ventures into that territory. I’m confident that my trust in you all is not misplaced. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me, whether in this thread, on Discord, or in a PM on forums, with any questions you may have about the topic in general, my experience, or just questions you’re afraid to ask someone else for fear of it being hurtful. Regardless of how stupid you think they may be , I am more than happy to talk with you about it - if you don’t have someone in your life that you feel comfortable talking to about these topics, I am very happy to fill that role. The best thing we can do for the trans community is to talk about it, especially in a constructive way.

With much anxiety & relief, I’m ending this post. Thank you all for creating a community where I feel willing to come forward with this.

    Peace,
    fishy

Time for my weekly vhl.com article. This one's about the inconsistencies of Sheldon Juniper.
I have found that this season, Juniper is struggling with inconsistency. Like, really bad inconsistency. He would go for 5 games without a goal, then explode for two goals and two assists in two games. It's something that as an agent, I am not very proud of. It's my job to guide Sheldon on his way to VHL stardom. I don't really know what's wrong, but here's my best guess at a diagnosis: ever since he joined the Las Vegas Aces via trade, he's been decent. Point per game, I think. Before, when he was on the slightly weaker Yukon Rush, that was where the hardcore inconsistency set in. My point being that a change in scenery was good for everyone involved. Juniper gets an attempt to get out of his inconsistency slumps, the Aces get a capped winger looking for a cup, and the Rush build their picks for this draft. I'm glad it worked out this way, and I hope the Aces can make it happen in the playoffs. And with the other additions of Dan Dan and Jordan Tate from the Mississauga Hounds, I think we can make it happen. Until next time.

I know the Reapers and the Kings are both really good, but I think if we get a little luck we can pull it off

fyrefly got a reaction from MexicanCow123 in Sheldon Juniper joins the Aces

It's been a pleasure to be on the Rush, and I hope you guys are successful next season.

fyrefly reacted to Ledge in Wayyyy Too Early VHL Mock Draft!!
Here we go, starting off with a VHL mock draft that is, as the title implies, wayyyy too early! I'm Ledge, and I hope you like this article because it took be a hell of a long time to make it. And if you're wondering, no, I did not assign teams to picks. I can't tell the future THAT well.

    1st overall: Red Lite @Tate
This one really wasn't a very tough decision. Red Lite is a star in the making. Currently sitting at a crazy 245 TPE, he'll be more than capped and ready to join the lucky team that lands him this offseason. The right winger is playing for the San Diego Marlins in the M, who are probably going to be a playoff team, allowing Lite to go on a draft showcase during the playoffs. All in all, look for Red Lite to have a fruitful VHL career.

    2nd overall: Battre Sandstrom @Acydburn
This 2nd overall pick was really close between Acyd and Beav, but since Beav is generally hated on by the league(I'm a beavliever btw), the higher pick goes to Acyd's new recreate, Sandstrom. A defenceman for the Yukon Rush, who are underperforming despite a good roster this year, Sandstrom has been quite good, notching almost point per game as a defenceman and basically opening up the eyes of a lot of VHL scouts.

3rd overall: Hulk Hogan Jr. @Beaviss
There's no way a player as good as Hogan Jr. can fall farther than third in a relatively weak draft. Hogan has been not quite as offensively noticeable as Sandstrom but is a key part of the dominant Mexico City Kings roster and has amassed huge amounts of hits and blocked shots. Part of the champion Miami Marauders last season, Hogan already has a ring, and is looking for another this year.

4th overall: Frank Funk Jr. @Rayzor_7
Funk, Rayzor's new player after the legendary Rayz Funk retired last season, has the slight edge over the next guy down because Rayzor is a GM and can be counted on to be active. Funk himself has had a pretty good season. The Russian winger has put up decent points while also being a critical part of the Marlins blueline.

    5th overall: Tom Eagles @Greg_Di
Next up at 5th overall is Eagles. The Polish defenceman has been a sensation so far with the Philadelphia Reapers, putting up nearly a point per game and and having 113 shots as a defenceman! Eagles also capps every week, so a reliable earner is to be had. An overall gem that GMs should be looking out for

    6th overall: Gunnar Odinsson @BOOM™
When BOOM finally returned to the VHL, they made quite a splash. Odinsson is the product of this rebirth, and although he has been overshadowed by some other young talents on the Marlins, he's still put up more than half a point per game and 61 blocked shots. BOOM is a good investment to be made, so Odinsson could be chosen higher.

    7th overall: Kaladin Kvothe @DangerGolding
DG's new British player comes in the form of Kvothe, who has an utterly unpronounceable surname. Yet ANOTHER player from the Marlins, Kvothe is a low-scoring left wing. Which is super confusing, mind you, because he has 90 TPE in scoring. One of the great conundrums of this era. Only 9 goals this season. Nevertheless, Kvothe should go around 7th overall.

    8th overall: Kristof Welch @Juice
A crazy reach at 8th overall? Nah. I even think Welch could go higher. The defender for the Yukon Rush earns TPE like his life depends on it, racking up 25 last week and 27 the week before. He headlines a group of first gen players who have been dominating the TPE leaderboards. Welch has slightly less than half a point per game, put that can be improved easily.

    9th overall: Magnus Verlander @Jbeezy76
While not a top earner, Verlander has been showing off his almost perfect build this season, collecting more than a point per game with the dream team Kings. A lot of other players in this draft class have been struggling in the point column, but Verlander has been exceptional.

    10th overall: Phoenix Dawson @Toast
The legendary Toast cometh! Dawson, a two-way center for the defending champions Miami Marauders, is one of those players you can count on to cap each week and be a reliable member of the team. 36 points in 45 games isn't too shabby for a two-way forward, so I think next season we can expect some leaderboards for Dawson.

11th overall: Robin Galante Nilsson @RomanesEuntDomus
Another player who caps every single week, Nilsson, a defenceman for the Philadelphia Reapers, has been a fantastic example of what every team needs. A solid, puck moving defender who can hit, block shots, and show up on the scoresheet. This is actually Nilsson's rookie season, which makes his saga even more incredible.

12th overall: Hex Rose @Hex Universe
I have to give some credit to my boy, Hex. He was just hired by VSN to be a writer, and although Rose himself hasn't been one of the leading scorers in the league, he is a really good investment to make. One of the most eager first-gens I have ever seen in my short time in the league, Hex earns like crazy and I think he deserves to go higher than this in the draft.

    13th overall: Caitlyn Catowize @CrazyCaityCat
Whaaat? She fell this far? I know, it was really hard to do, but there are so many young talents in here that it's hard to pick just 16 for the first round. I feel the only reason Catowize dropped so far is because of her dismal point totals. This is another conundrum, because her build looks fine to me. I guess Simon is the one who picks the successful players, though. Catowize is still a steal at 13.

    14th overall: Erin Esurance @Sljppers
Yet another first gen TPE machine is Erin Esurance. The winger for the lowly Mississauga Hounds has benefitted greatly from the large amounts of ice time, posting 24 goals and more than a point per game. Esurance has also been at the top of TPE leaderboards almost every time I've checked. Obviously an absolute steal at 14, very much could be higher.

    15th overall: Eeli Rantanen @Jolline
Arrg, this is getting so hard! So many capable players, but not nearly enough spots! I figured I'd have to give one to Rantanen, though. Almost a point per game player, Rantanen also has an insane 232 shots. Another winger who is benefitting from the ice time opened up by the rebuilding Hounds, he is also a reliable TPE earner. A win-win for the lucky team that gets him.

16th overall: Phil The Rock Johnson @Phil
Despite his measly two points this season as a forward, I know a couple of teams that would gladly take Johnson, a winger for the Marlins. He's a consistent earner, but I think his scoring and passing are too close together. Anyhow, a player with this much TPE will be a good player to get this late in the draft.

    Honorable Mentions:
    Jivere Zolnek @Sixersfan549
    Evgeny Bernov @Viperxhawks19
    Javad Kamkar @Parriyah9374
    Lenny Sanderson @Gally
    MacGruber @Motzaburger
    Philip Stein @IHateBobNutting

So, Since I want to get to claim this for three weeks, I'll have to write another four hundred words or so. So I'll do a quick recap of what just happened.

Red Lite is going 1st overall. This is not debatable.  He is by far the best player available, and I hope the team that gets 1st overall chooses him.
For 2nd overall, it's up to Battre Sandstrom and Hulk Hogan Jr. I say whichever one earns the most the next couple weeks will get the earlier pick(btw guys, if you're not going to do a point task, why not claim welfare?)
Frank Funk Jr. and Tom Eagles will battle it out for 4th overall, and the other will go 5th. No question here either
After that, it's a mess of a draft class. Lots of capable players, but some with large amounts of TPE but not of points. I can see Welch, Rose, Esurance, and Rantanen easily climbing the rankings a lot the next couple weeks, and I'll bet we see Kamkar, Sanderson, and Stein on this list very soon. Overall, not as strong a draft class as last season, but a very strong one indeed. I think we should still see active players through the 3rd round or so, but them it drops off dramatically, so we won't be having an expanded draft this season.

I mean, I don't want to jinx anything, but it looks like the LA Stars might get 1st overall two years in a row. Pistil Stamen and then Red Lite. For sure a recipe for greatness. If the Riga Reign manage to get lucky at the lottery, Lite will be a gift to their rebuild. Even if they don't get it, they're getting a top five pick, so that rebuild looks very, very promising.

Also, a little RIP for me, I chose Davos to win the cup in the awards predictions thing. They are second last in the European conference. So I won't be winning that, at least this year.
