Where has @Will gone? The VHL misses him dearly. Sure, he is still doing the occasional post and updating his player, but clearly some sort of fire is gone, as he has been nowhere near as active as of late. Yes, the man is allowed to have a real life outside of the VHL, but the blue team helps set the tone for league activity, and Draper usually is the most active of the three. With him gone, the league just seems much quieter as of late. Jardy does his usual simming thing, and Higgins does his usual posts when he gets high and spouts some nonsense, but Draper is the pillar that holds the world together. Without him the VHL is a pit of dissarray and chaos. Okay maybe I've gone too far but the VHL misses Draper and we want you back buddy! Hope all is well with u beb

League Wide Draft??? You hear a lot of concerning statements lately like, "Parity in the VHL is dead," or "The league is at one of its lowest activity levels ever." Perhaps what this league needs to spur activity is a complete shakeup? I'm not even saying I am behind this idea or anything, but I think it is something interesting that is worth discussing. What if the league had a fantasy draft, with each team losing their current players to the draft pool, with a randomly determined snake draft order? This shakeup would certainly draw a ton of attention and interest, as it would change the entire dynamic of the league. Teams just starting their rebuild would be all for it, while teams with players in their prime or just entering competing would probably be upset. Let's take a look at how a league wide draft would look. 1) Drafting to compete or Drafting Young? This would be my main concern with holding a league wide draft. Some teams would draft players on veteran and prime contracts looking to win now, while other teams would draft young looking towards the future. With the mixture of draft strategies, it seems as though the cyclical nature and lack of parity could continue. 2) Picks 1 and 20 or Picks 10 and 11? In order to be fair, the draft would have to be a snake draft. Would those in extreme drafting positions get screwed? For example, the team with pick 1 could obviously pick who they deem to be the league's best player, perhaps a skater, and then have pick 20 and not have a good starting goalie available. And would a team with picks 10 and 11 be able to have enough top-end talent to compete with those with high picks? 3) Would There Be Enough Goalies? Looking at the VHL rosters, every team either has a legitimate starting caliber goalie already or a prospect coming up the pipelines. So going back to my question above, I don't think draft position would screw anyone out of a goalie, which is a good thing. It seems the two player rule has resulted in the league never having a shortage of goalies. With a surplus of goalies, it would be interesting to see how goalies are value and where they would be selected in the draft. 4) Should Teams Be Allowed to Trade Draft Picks in the Draft? Let's say for example, a team with picks 1 and 20 wants to move up for a pick around pick 15 or so. Should they be allowed to package picks 20 and 21 in order to move up to the 15th pick? Doing so could make for even more draft day interest, and I'm not sure how that would effect parity. One thing is for sure, I don't think teams should be allowed to trade future picks in this hypothetical league wide draft situation. This is just an interesting thought I had to shake up the league, and I'm not even sure that I am for it. But it is an interesting thought so I figured I would share. Let me know your thoughts below!

The parity in VHL is dead? [1/2]

Wonder if it has anything to do with not enough players to fill 10 teams out competitively? Top few teams hoard the talent and don't want to trade them/have no reason to. It feels like it has been forever since a top team has decided to rebuild and trade high tpe players. -

So far this season, Gowecny has averaged 1.18 points per 20 minutes, putting him at the second best clip in the league. If Jardy and Will didn't mess everything up and somehow not include Calgary's GM player for the team's first six games, there is a good chance he would be among the league's point leaders. Anyway, even though Gowecny is a pretty good player, interest in him has been minimal from the competing teams for some reason. At this point, I am thinking of trading Gowecny to Helsinki or Davos for pretty much free, since I own Stockholm's 1st round pick so I may as well try to make that pick as good as possible. Or maybe I will keep Gowecny and do my best to beat New York in the playoffs, because that would be very lol worthy if that happened. Point is, Gowecny is a good player and it's weird that GMs have had lukewarm interest in him over the past few seasons.

Trust the Process Through 22 games, the Wranglers sit tied for the 2nd seed in the NA Conference with New York, a scenario no one would have predicted. While many thought the Wranglers would be a fringe playoff team, this hot start has experts pondering whether the process may have initiated a season early. Whether this solid play can remain hold for the rest of the season remains to be seen, but for now we will look at how Calgary's youth has put on a clinic so far. Felix Savard @Frank has been on fire this season, as he currently has 27 points, putting him in second place among all defensemen, as well as the second most points among rookies. If he keeps this pace up, and argument could be made for Sevard to be rookie of the year and top defenseman. Six of Sevard's nine goals have come on the power play, showing his importance to the team as a great shot from the point. Lastly, Sevard leads the team with 47 shots blocked, showing he is not afraid to sacrifice his body to support the process. Marc-Alexander Leblanc Much was expected of @Pandar after the Wranglers acquired him in exchange for the third overall pick, and so far he too has exceeded expectations. Leblanc has 24 points through 22 games so far, putting him above a point per game clip. He is also tied with Travis Gowecny with a team leading 15 goals, showing off his excellent shot. Leblanc has the third most shots in the league, showing off his superior puck possession ability in getting himself into scoring areas. The one-two punch of Savard and Leblanc has accounted for a ton of the Wranglers goals this season. Jacob Jacob has been an elite goalie since last season, but the poor man has had to carry terrible teams on his back for a while. This season, @Higgins gets a bit of a relief, as he only has to carry an average team on his back instead of a terrible one. So far this season, Jacoc has posted a respectable 0.927 save percentage, putting him in 4th place among goalies. Ordinarily a 0.927 save percentage would be among hte league's best, but Asterisk Moon and Rhett Degrath have been off to amazing starts so far, with a 0.940 save percentage each. I would also like to point out that Jacob leads the league in penalty shot percentage, as he has saved 6 of 6 attempts for a perfect 100% save percentage. Journeyman I didn't expect much from my 100 something tpe player this season, as I only called him up so I would be able to reach the cap floor without having to do the stupid dance of bidding high for a 30 tpe free agent. So far, Journeyman has 17 points on the season, which is good considering how bad he is. I would write more, but I am above the word count so bye.
