  3. Gobeil’s crazy trip to Amazonia When Gobeil heard that the VHL players had a week off and everyone can travel he decided to do a trip he always wanted to do. A fishing trip in the Amazonian forest. At first, Gobeil thought this was going to be a simple trip that will go pretty well if it is well planned but things didn’t go as planned. Sunday, 10:34 AM: Gobeil arrive to Prague’s airport and gets himself ready into the plane, he brought with him his Ipad with some downloaded Netflix movies. A few hours after the plane started, the weather changes and the pilot gets a warning that he may have to make a detour to New York city to stay for the night until the storm is over in brazil. Things doesn’t get better and they land in New York city for the night. Tuesday, 5:20 AM: The storm is over, Gobeil can get in the plane and head to Brazil. Tuesday, 6:04 PM: Gobeil’s plane land in Rio de Janeiro and he can get into his taxi to go to his hotel, which he only rented for 1 night as he will go in the Amazonian forest the next day. Wednesday, 5:30 AM: Gobeil is getting everything ready, paying his room then he gets into the SUV he rented to go to his fishing spot, he has 400km of dirt road to do 8:17 AM: 233 kms into the road, his SUV start making some strange noises, Gobeil stop on the side of the road and open the hood, trying to figure out what is that strange noise. As the car is stopped, he notice some smoke coming out of the engine bay, at this point, he knew it was critical damages. Him and his guide spent a few hours trying to repair the mechanical problem and they ended up managing to ease the noise and the smoke. They both knew it wouldn’t last forever but if it can bring them to their spot, they have a satellite radio to call an helicopter once they finished their trip. So, they pack their stuff back in and they start the car to continue their road. 4:30 PM: Gobeil and his guide arrive to the destination, they are both tired and they decide to relax for a bit before walking in the forest. 5:28 PM: The two men doesn’t want to get caught by the night so they decide to start walking to their boat. They rented a small boat from a local man and they have the GPS location of it. When they arrive to the boat location, they spend half an hour trying to find the said boat, looking everywhere without success. The only thing they found is some iron chains that seems to have been cut. That was probably the chains that were holding the boat. It was now official, they were 400kms in the Amazonian forest with a broken SUV and their both stolen. Night is coming and they both hardly see each others, so they decide to go back to their car and sleep in it. 1:46 AM: Something wake them up, they are not alone, something is outside, they heard it growl. Both of them are awake with their eyes wide open, not even daring to move. They know their doors are locked but they still doesn’t feel much safe. It walks around the car, it clearly spotted them, probably by the smell. Gobeil turn a bit to his guide and whispers to ask what makes that noise, the guide being a native from Amazonia remain silent. Gobeil gets the feeling that the man knows what it is but is too afraid to talk. Then the mysterious animal lay its paws on the driver window, it’s a large paw with claws, there is no doubt, it’s a Jaguar. After 1 hour, the animal seems to loose interest and the silence is back. Having a jaguar growling beside your car is scary but the silence after that is torture. Both the men, spent the night not sleeping, just looking around hoping it doesn’t come back. 6:00AM: The sun is rising, it is morning, the Jaguar seems gone so Gobeil dares to open his door and look around. As he gets out of the car, he steps on a small tree branch and jumps at the sound of it as he is already nervous. He looks down and notice it was nothing. He looks around his car, there is a flat tire, that’s bad news. When he looks closer, there is bites on the tire, it must have been the jaguar. Both the men looks at each other’s, wondering if they should call the helicopter and cancel their fishing trip. They want to catch monster fishes but not at the cost of their life. So, they decide to grab the radio and call for help. After a few attempts, someone finally respond to them and they manage to get an helicopter coming to save them. 8:00 AM: The Helicopter lands a few hundred meters from them, both the men, grab their stuff and jump in the helicopter to fly back to Rio de Janeiro. When they arrive to Rio de Janeiro, Gobeil goes to the place he rented the SUV and tries to make a deal with them as the car wasn’t in good conditions when he rented it. Again, things doesn’t go as planned, and Gobeil is forced to pay for the whole process of sending a tow truck 400km in the forest to bring back the car in the city to repair it, which is about 12500$, it is a lot of money but he didn’t have much choice. Thursday 8:44 PM: Gobeil is back at his home in Prague, he is safe and exhausted but he still has a few days before his next game as he came back home earlier than planned. The next time he goes travelling, he might think of a safer idea. 1005 words Claiming as PT on week ending on 14/2 and 21/2 Claiming theme week double on week ending on 14/2
  4. We don’t really know each others but thats an impressive trophy room you got for yourself already and you will be remembered as a winner! Good luck for what is coming next for you Also, I will vouch for Hylands too, I played for him in Mexico and he is a pretty good GM.
  5. 1. The Superbowl was yesterday, are you happy that the Buccaneers won or you would have prefered to see the Chiefs win it for a second year in a row? 2. What other sports than hockey do you watch and which teams? 3. Is there a player in the VHL that you never played with that you would like to get to know better and play with them? 4. Valentine day is coming next sunday, with which celebrity your player managed to get a date? 5. Your player is becoming famous and the fans got him a nickname, what is that nickname? 6. Who is the most underrated player of the Prague Phantoms?
  6. This is looking pretty clean, maybe a bit dark but I think it gives us a "mean" vibe. The fonts at the right are also well placed and the colors match with the team’s colors which is pretty nice. I give it a 8/10.
  7. This is looking awesome, I really like how you managed to make a 3D image for a jersey, the anchor on the shoulders seems to be pretty tough to make and you you it perfectly, this is clean and it has a lot of details. I give it a well deserved 10/10!
  8. Okay, thank you for verifying
  9. @Josh I’m pretty sure I sent my answers, did I misclick somewhere or I got forgotten?
  10. We all know the STHS meta, DF at 99, SC over PA with a 15 points gap, high ST, high PH and high SK. That’s basically what everyone aim for when they do a build in the VHL and it quickly become lame, lets be honest. It would be fun to be able to get some freedom in our builds and not underperform but it sadly doesn’t work like that. Some people like to experience new things and they might actually find something that really stand out but if it fails, your stuck with that failed experience for 8 seasons which can become pretty long. Which is why I will not waste my time doing the following builds but I wanted to share them as meme builds. If someone want to make them someday, go for it, it will most likely be awful though. Gandhi: with 99 in discipline and 99 in ST the goal here is to make sure Gandhi doesn’t take any penalty but also don’t get hit by others, nobody should want to take the risk hurting such a great man. He also has 99 in PA because he is a generous player who always want the best for his teammates. Add over that 99 in LD for one of the most known leader in the world. CK:40 FG:40 DI:99 SK:40 ST:99 PH:40 FO:40 PA:99 SC:40 DF:99 PS:40 EX:99 LD:99 Mike Tyson: Mike Tyson doesn’t go on the ice to play hockey, he jumps on the ice to fight. He even got his 40 default TPE removed on request because this man hates rules. Rumors are that he even tried to release his tiger on the ice. CK:99 FG:99 DI:00 SK:40 ST:99 PH:40 FO:40 PA:40 SC:40 DF:99 PS:40 EX:99 LD:40 Chuck Norris: Chuck Norris couldn’t care less about the meta and the TPE. He knows that Simon T would never mess with him and he trust his default build to be a record breaker. His goal: 20 cups in 8 seasons, you will say, this is not possible, didn’t I tell you its Chuck Norris? CK:40 FG:40 DI:40 SK:40 ST:40 PH:40 FO:40 PA:40 SC:40 DF:40 PS:40 EX:40 LD:40
  11. Press conference for the week ending on February 7th. 1. Imagine that we are Saturday, your favorite team is playing and its a rivalry game, you don't work tomorrow, what is your choice of drink? 2. With 29 points in 27 games played, is the team meeting your expectations so far? 3. Thomas Landry II has been named captain of the Prague Phantoms, why do you think he is a good choice? 4. What is you favorite brand for hockey equipment? 5. If in over 10 seasons, someone dig out your name for a trivia, what will it be about? 6. If you could change one rule of your choice in hockey, what would it be?
  12. @thadthrasheryou forgot the most important part: bribe the gm with a 20$
  13. Claiming for a second time
  14. thats impressive! I really like the kind of electronic glitch effect, it must be a lot of work. The one thing I would change is the style you picked for the last name, maybe add a second color to it for the counter of the characters or something. 9/10
  15. That looks pretty good, what I would suggest for your next graphic would be to focus on the player and make the logo more of a background thing so what we see at first look is the player and not the logo 7/10.
  16. The S76 was set to be a season with a lot of good rookies considering that the S75 draft was one of the biggest draft of the VHL and most of these players are making their VHL debut in S76. Some of them were expected to have a good start but it wasn’t the case for all of them. Gobeil was one of those players with not much expected, nobody would have named him as a contender for the Christian Stolzschweiger trophy. But as of right now, the truth is that he is currently in second place of the rookie point leaderboard with 27 points in 25 games played. The young player also already got an hat trick and he is expected to continue the hard work and make sure he can improve his game and stay competitive. The season is still young, and nothing is won yet but if he can continue on that pace, the future is looking bright for him already.
  17. As a kid, we all watched our favorite players playing hockey on the tv. We played outside wearing their jerseys, knowing them by their numbers and trying to reproduce their plays on the ice with our friends. Some of us got lucky enough to get a spot in the VHLM and this is when the dream of playing in the VHL become more and more possible. You get to a point in your young hockey career that its not a dream anymore, but an objective and you know its not impossible to reach it. From a young player point of view, the VHL seems so amazing, but is it the case? How is it to be in the VHL? What does it mean? This is what we are going to explore together today. Being a model: Being a player in the VHL means that you are probably the hero of a kid somewhere in the world. Maybe in your native country, maybe in your family, maybe its just a kid who like your infamous moustache? One thing you can be sure, is that you are a model, everything that you do is seen by those kids and they might want to be like you. Your role as a VHL player is to make sure they follow a good model, work hard and be a great responsible person out of the ice and the odds of hearing a future draftee saying your name when they ask him who was his favorite player can be high. How do you want the medias to react to that draftee’s words? Do you want them to laugh and say that his favorite player is not someone to take as a model or you want them to be proud of that kid’s choice? This is all in your hands, everything you do in that league will someday be history and you are the one writing it, make sure it’s a good one! Dealing with Pressure: Being in the VHL also involve pressure. You are no longer a prospect; you are now officially a VHL player and things are expected from you. This is not a free pass, thousands of people pay to watch you and you shouldn’t disappoint them. It is true that your teammates are not enemies, but it is also true that they are always in competition with you to get the most ice time. Not only you need to compete with the other teams, but you always need to prove to your coach that you deserve your ice-time. If you are on the first line, there is 9 players under you who would love to get your spot. Always give the best of you on the ice and be aggressive, don’t give them that opportunity of claiming your spot. If someday for some reasons you do end up loosing it, don’t give up. Take it as a warning, try to find a solution, maybe there is something in your game that used to work but doesn’t work anymore. Hockey is always evolving and strategies changes with time, sometimes it goes better for you but sometimes you need to adapt yourself to these new strategies. Travelling: Being in the VHL also means that you will travel a lot. Surely, this can be great to visit new cities in different countries. Nobody would complain to be paid to go to London, New York, Moscow and many other cities. It’s a ‘’dream come true’’ situation for sure. But after a few seasons, this becomes usual to you. If you’re home is in Los Angeles and you need to travel to Moscow, after 10 times, its no longer excitement that you feel but pain from knowing you’re going to spend a few hours in the plane again, dealing with the time zone change and be away from your family again. Travelling suddenly loose all its magic. What you need to do to keep a good mood is to stay with your team, talk with them, hangout, play, just have a good time while making sure you stay in good shape for the game. Staying healthy: Being a VHL player also means that you need to stay healthy. More than ever, your body is your most important thing to take care of. Your diet needs to be a strict one with the help of professionals and your training also needs to be strict and assisted by a professional. But the hardest part is to stay in good physical conditions in a very physical sport. At the beginning of a season, everyone is healthy but after a few games getting hits by other players at high speed, you start to get some pain. While the fans complain that there is too much time between games, you on your side need to prepare to get hit again while you didn’t recover of the hits you got 2 or 3 days ago and sometimes you even need to play 2 days in a row. That small pain you had at the beginning of the season quickly become a burden that stay for a long time and sometimes even lead to a bigger injury that get you out of the game for a few days, weeks or even months. Hockey is not an easy sport physically and it only gets worse when you join the pros. Earning millions: Everyone is aware, like it or not, being a professional hockey player involve earning millions. Of course, you will never complain about getting all that money, but you need to be careful. While being rich mean that you should never have to worry about your financial situation anymore, there is also a dark side of it. You need to be careful with drugs, gambling, and alcohol. While you can afford all of these, they quickly can affect your performance on the ice and it also can become public. Once everyone knows about your problem, it becomes a slippery slope where its hard to get yourself back on the right path. Some players won millions and ended up working in a tim hortons’s. 21. There is the press conference for the week ending on january 31th. 1. The phantoms are doing quite well lately, do you think we can continue on that pace? 2. What is the worse penalty you ever got? 3. Who do you think won the Laine - Dubois trade in the NHL? 4. Do you watch any series lately? If yes, what is it? 5. What is the best hockey movie ever released? 6. What do you do before a game to prepare yourself and perform at your best?
  22. G - Tone Wolski @Renomitsu
  23. D - Guy Sassakamoose @Josh
  24. I like how you managed to make a story that let us believe that your player is talented but is recovering from a major injury. This release the pressure of performance off your shoulders but also shows that you can get good with the hard work. Continue like that and Hlozek will be in the VHL soon enough 8/10
