  1. ROUND ROBIN RECAP To start off the tournament we saw the re-emergence of Team USA as they took off to a 7-3-0 record good enough for first seed in the playoffs, followed closely by Team World (6-3-1). With Canada’s round robin success, we saw Team Nordic (4-6-0), Team Western Europe (4-6-0), and the S76 champions Team Mercenaries (4-4-2) get off to less than desirable starts then they would have hoped. Team Canada was left sitting right at .500 as they went 5-5-0. Team Record GF/GA Most Points Most Goals Starting Goalie SV% USA 7-3-0 37/30 John Merrick (15) Isabella Campbell (7) Stone Wolski (0.914) World 6-3-1 36/27 Taro Tsujimoto (14) Taro Tsujimoto (7) Doug Dimmadome (0.925) Canada 5-5-0 27/36 Jeffrey Pines (12) Dominic Gobeil (6) Jacob Tonn (0.911) Mercenaries 4-4-2 30/33 Patrik Laine (13) Patrik Laine (6) Jean Pierre Camus (0.923) Western Europe 4-6-0 38/39 Uhtred (14) Ryan Schwarz (8) Kuniburi UnGuri (0.902) Nordic 4-6-0 27/30 Valtteri Vaakanainen (11) Onde Sandstorm (5) Zamboni Driver (0.924) Quarter-Finals Team USA and Team World both receive a bye into the semi-finals Game #1 Team Canada (5) vs. Team Nordic (2) In the first game of the quarter finals, Team Canada put on a clinic outscoring Team Nordic by a score of 5-2, while being outshot 38-35 by Team Nordic. Team Canada’s offense was led by Groovy Dood as they would score 2 goals, including the game winner and add 2 assists. Additionally Dakota Lamb had 2 goals and 1 assist. Dominic Gobeil also scored for Team Canada. In net for Canada Jacob Tonn stood on his head turning away 36 of 38 shots to post a 0.947 SV%. Both Battre Sandstorm and Valtteri Vaakinen scored for Team Nordic, and Zamboni Driver saved 30 out of the 35 shots they faced. Game #2 Team Mercenaries (4) vs. Team Western Europe (3) In what first appears as a close game as the final score was only 4-3 for the Mercenaries, the Mercenaries heavily outshout Western Europe 52-24. The first period saw the Mercenaries take a 3 goal lead with goals by Red Lite, Kristof Welch, and Lester Green, before Leo Strauss would get Western Europe on the board. The second period saw Western Europe narrow the leadas Phil The Rock Johnson, and Chris Hylands both score for Western Europe. Sadly for Western Europe, this was after Scotty Kaberle put home the eventual game winner. In net for Team Mercenaries Rara Rasputin had a 0.875 SV%, in contrast Artem Tretiak had a 0.923 SV% for Western Europe. Semi Finals Game #1 Team USA (8) vs. Team Mercenaries (3) This game was just dominance from Team USA as they would outscore the Mercenaries 8-3 on an equal amount of shots. Team USA opened the scoring with 7 straight goals from Thomas Landry II, Randy Marsh, Robin Winter (2), Addison McLaren (2), and John Merrick. Red Lite would finally get the Mercenaries on the board at 16:09 of the second. Robin Winter would complete the hat-trick at 14:35 on a goal assisted by Isabella Campbell and Bob Tristan. During the last 5 minutes of the game both Patrik Laine and Tom Eagles would score for the Mercenaries however, it was too little too late. In net Stone Wolski had a solid game for USA as he stopped 33 of 36 shots, for the Mercenaries it was a different story as Jean Pierre Camus would be chased from the crease after allowing 6 goals on 19 shots, Rara Rasputin would allow 2 goals against on 17 shots the rest of the game. Game #2 Team World (4) vs. Team Canada (3) In what was very close to being a huge comeback for the Canadians, Team World would hang on to a 4-3 win as Canada stormed back from an early 3 goal deficit. During the first period we saw goals from Lee Xin (2), and The Terrible Trivium as World would just out to a three goal lead. Tyler Walker would get Canada on the board with a powerplay goal at 3:02 of the second, only for Lee Xin to complete the hat-trick and reestablish a 3 goal lead 30 seconds later. Canada would add one more goal before the end of the second as Groovy Dood would score at 18:38, to bring Canada within one. The third period was all Canada as they would record 12 shots on net, with this they could only get 1 past Dimmadome as Dominic Gobeil would score on the powerplay. Dimmadome would not face a single shot in the dying minutes of the game as Team World would secure a 4-3 win and advance to the finals. Medal Round Bronze Medal Game - Team Canada (3) vs. Team Mercenaries (2) (OT) In what was the closest game of the World Cup playoffs we saw Canada outshoot the Mercenaries 49-40. Both teams would be held scoreless as both Jean Pierre Camus and Jacob Tonn turned aside 17 and 16 shots respectively. At the 5:54 mark of the second Scotty Kaberle would get the Mercenaries on the board with a powerplay goal assisted by Jungkok and Tom Eagles. This wouldn’t hold up for long as 6 minutes later Canada woud score 2 goals 30 seconds apart as both Matty Socks and Domonic Gobeil would find the back of the net. Before the end of the second, Timothy Brown would score on the powerplay for the Mercenaries to tie the game at 2. The third period was very similar to the first as both teams seemed to play a more defensive game, Canada would outshoot the Mercenaries 11 to 9 in the third. Just like that the bronze medal game was headed to OT. In overtime it was all Team Canada, out shooting the Mercenaries 5-2, and winning 8/12 faceoffs, with this it didn’t take Canada long to find the back of the net as Domonic Gobeil would score 5:53 into overtime to win the bronze medal, Tyler Walker and Alex Letang assisted on the game winning goal. Gold Medal Game - Team USA (4) vs. Team World (3) Much like most of the tournament Team USA was absolutely dominant despite the score, outshooting Team World 47 to 32. The first period opened with General Zod scoring just 36 seconds into the game. Team World would then answer back just 2 seconds into a power play as Latrell Mitchell would wire one past Wolski. Later in the first Team USA’s powerplay would strike as John Merrick would add to his already impressive tournament point and goal totals, as he would score at 15:50. The second period would be a slight change of pace as there would only be one goal scored, specifically Lee Xin would tie the game at two in the final minutes of the period. The third period saw Team USA quickly build a 2 goal lead on goals from Isabella Campbell and Robin Winter. Team World would try to come back and would fall short as Christian Mingle would score with just 18 seconds left in the game to cut the lead to one. Christian Mingle put one more shot on net, which was covered by Wolski. John Merrick would win the faceoff in the USA end, and that would end the game with the States taking home the gold medal! Congratulations to our gold medalists, Team USA! As well as to Team World and Team Canada for taking home the silver and bronze medals! Notably, in net they have 2 time Greg Clegane Trophy and 1 time Aidan Shaw Trophy winner Jacob Tonn @MexicanCow123 will look to add a world cup gold to their trophy case to finish off their career. Their forward group is lead by SS Hornet @McWolf and Jeffery Pines @rory who are both coming off of very solid seasons. Lastly, Canada’s D-core looks terrifying and should be able to dominate all tournament long and features Erik Killinger @Peace, who like Tonn is looking to add a gold medal to their trophy case before retirement. Expect to see this team winning games with their defensive superiority and stelar goaltending. Projected Finish: Second Team United States of America F TPA F TPA F TPA Total TPA Thomas Landry II 1085 Isabella Campbell 974 Justin Lose 840 F 5467 Robin Winter 803 John Merrick 965 Addison McLaren 800 D 2701 D D G G 1598 General Zod 761 Jolly Greene Giant 727 Stone Wolski 812 Randy Marsh 676 Bob Tristan 537 Thadius Sales 786 This season’s edition of the team from the United States is very top heavy and offensive based to say the least. The team will be reliant on their offence to carry them through the tournament as their defensive group is not the strongest we have seen. However, with Isabella Campbell @Banackock and John Merrick @Steve down the middle and S78 VHL leading goal scorer Robin Winter @Sonnet this team will produce goals. In net we will be seeing a tandem of Stone Wolski @DollarAndADream and Thadius Sales @thadthrasher, these two will be put to the test and will hopefully be able to assist in making the USA medal contenders once again. We should see this team involved in quite a few high scoring battles as their offense will look to power their way through opponents. Projected Finish: Fourth Team Western Europe F TPA F TPA F TPA Total TPA Ryan Schwarz 805 Cabe McJake 915 Uhtred 767 F 4535 Artair McCloud 693 Leo Strauss 705 Phil The Rock Johnson 650 D 3178 D D G G 1482 Roque Davis 1080 Chris Hylands 774 Artem Tretiak 745 DeFenz Mann 556 Micah Adrienne 768 Kunibuni UnGuri 737 The top end talent of Team Western Europe is quite impressive, lead by Roque Davis @Josh and Cabe McJake @Red, this team has some clear star players. The main issue with the Western Europe team is the depth as their second forward line and D-pair will be just shy of par with the rest of the teams. With that being said, there’s a real chance that with their top end talent and solid goaltending with a combination of Artem Tretiak @Molholt and Kunibuni UnGuri @Berocka this team could make some noise. Projected Finish: Sixth Team Nordic F TPA F TPA F TPA Total TPA Aloe Dear 978 Valtteri Vaakanainen 945 Venus Thightrap 850 F 5434 Luke Thornton 960 Julian Nousiainen 876 Onde Sandstrom 825 D 3232 D D G G 1136 Kasper Kankkunen 920 Spencer Elsby 802 Zamboni Driver 751 Linus Zetterstrom 721 Battre Sandstrom 789 Aksu Maronen 385 The Season S76 bronze medalists will be looking to improve on that and claim the gold. Offensively this team knows how to put up points, lead by S78 VHL leading scorer Aloe Dear @Renomitsu and Luke Thornton @Jtv123 this team looks very promising. In terms of point production during the season 78 VHL season this team is ranked first in both points scored by forwards and defensemen (collectively by a margin of 80 points). With Zamboni Driver @Tape-to-Tape in goal this team should have no problem keeping the puck out of their own net. Team Nordic is without a doubt the team to beat this world cup. Projected Finish: First Team World F TPA F TPA F TPA Total TPA Lee Xin 839 Christian Mingle 975 Pistil Stamen 825 F 5192 Jim Bob 835 Taro Tsujimoto 930 The Terrible Trivium 788 D 3148 D D G G 1664 Latrell Mitchell 943 Marshall James Frostbeard 778 Doug Dimmadome 880 Victor Grachev 744 Kosmo Kramerev 683 Sirkants Klamasteris 784 Team World has a very similar make-up to that of Team USA of having a strong offence and a top heavy D-core lead by Latrell Mitchell @dasboot, the main difference between them and the States is that the difference between the two is to much less of a degree. Team world also features the best goaltending tandem of the tournament with Doug Dimmadome @Esso2264 and Sirkants Klamasteris @hedgehog337 which will need to be solid in every game to get past the competition as they are one of the main strengths of Team World. Projected Finish: Third Team Mercenaries F TPA F TPA F TPA Total TPA Timothy Brown 785 Andrew Su 779 Red Lite 798 F 4607 Jungkok 740 Lester Green 755 Patrik Laine 750 D 3011 D D G G 1571 James Rose 807 Scotty Kaberle 765 Jean Pierre Camus 798 Tom Eagles 743 Kristof Welch 696 Rara Rasputin 773 Last years gold medalists seem to have taken a step back this season, as they come in with the 5th ranked forward and defence groups and the third ranked goalie tandem. Lead by returning goalie and reigning World Cup MVP Jean Pierre Camus @solas this team is nothing to take lightly even with their lower TPA compared to the other teams. With that being said this team is the dark horse to win the whole thing as if Camus plays like they did in S76, and if their offense can contribute, they could pull off a few upsets. Projected Finish: Fifth Realistically, this tournament is anyone’s for the taking and only time will tell what team wins the season 78 World Cup!
  11. Review: The graphic is well made, and I do like it as a whole. I find myself liking it more the longer I look at it as at first glance it took me a minute to put things together. I do like the choice of text and it contrast well with the background, additionally the effect used does suit the image well. 8.5/10
  12. Review: The graphic is solid as a whole. I like the image chosen as well as the use of the logo as a background. The text is basic and clean. All in all it's a solid graphic however, it would benefit from just some more attention to detail and being a bit more complex to really catch someone's eye. 7.5/10

  19. Review: I like he concept of having a season review graphic, it does seem fairly basic and could use some more detail (how many goals did they score). All the text is very easy to read and the background is well done with the team logo. Great job! 8/10
  20. Review: I like the concept a lot! the jersey and logo swap are very clean and well done! My only criticism is that the team names are difficult to read in places. All in all well done! 8/10
  21. I will also be applying! I would be thrilled to be the GM of any team.
