    This thread can be for people sharing advice, sharing things they have tried, sharing their triumph when it comes to health and fitness, sharing their troubles...anything basically.  The idea is to have there be no judgment.  I think we all have struggled with something like this in our lifetime and for me at least, I think the only way I can get any progress made (at least to begin) is to share it with people I have gotten close to and known for quite some time.
     
    For myself, I want to share my journey with everyone else and if you want to comment..that's great..but I just think having a no judgment zone or myself or anyone else could help with things like this.
     
    I get my new gym card tomorrow for my new school so I am excited to start fresh there.  I have been working on eating healthier (albeit I could certainly be better) but still I have always struggled.  Five years ago I lost 40 lbs in a month and a half but then I let it get away and it's only gone up since.  So here is where I'm going to get personal.  I normally wouldn't do this but I figure maybe it will help keep me consistent this time:
     
    - I weigh 370 lbs at this point in my life (Over 120 more than I did when I went to University)
    - Yes, I am disgusted by it..but I haven't really done much about it either.
    - I am heavily addicted to pop
    - I don't drink or smoke
    - I have absolutely zero confidence despite a supportive girlfriend, family and group of friends
    - I don't like to set goals but I would love to get back down to my weight when I went to University by the time I graduate college next year
    - Additionally, I want to get back to a point where I can comfortably play sports again (used to competitively play several in H.S.)
     
    I plan to start going to the gym in-between my classes starting next week (4 days a week).  I don't really do anything else in-between class so it shouldn't be hard to do that.  Any advice is welcome but I think others sharing stories, journeys, advice, etc. would just be nice to read.  I don't know, maybe someone else is going through similar shit.
     
    I might post some pictures at some point, but for now, I just have an older one:

    Yeah I've tried that mio/crystal light shit before but yeah not sure if it would help me cause I think I'd probably do the same.
     
    That's good.  Always nice when you can go with somebody.  Hoping I can convince my one roommate to join me a couple times a week.

    best wishes friend, I was about 170 in my hs graduating class and that was 2 years ago now i am about 210. 220 was my high point but after going to the gym for about 3 weeks i cut 10 pounds. its hard to stay motivated to go to the gym because its been pretty busy and I too am addicted to pop. its just hard to eat right when i dont really like veggies and its hard to cook for myself because i cant really cook much things. 
     
    but right now water i guess is the way to go hey guys?

    Certainly.  Pop is out of my house at the moment and I bought a Britta filter cause I really cannot stand tap water.
     
    I cook a fair amount and I've been trying some things out that I think are not just healthy, but economical.

    13 – That is the amount of wins the Davos Dynamo have tallied up so far this season.  They currently lead the league and are off to a flying start despite a rather troubling off-season that saw a whole bunch of changes including both Koenig and Richardson leaving along with a switch at the GM position.  While many now feel the Dynamo are one of the favourites, this writer thinks that they will fall off fairly soon.  While they are getting great production, it is hard to ignore the fact that they have had a fairly easy schedule so far this season.  With five games against Seattle, two against Cologne, three against Toronto and two against Quebec, twelve of the sixteen games Davos has played, were against weaker teams (albeit Seattle is fairly middling).  Meanwhile, against New York, Riga and Calgary, Davos is 2-2-0 with seven goals for and eight against.  Hardly awful, but not exactly the separation that the “top team in the league” should have.  In response to this criticism, the new General Manager simply responded with “no comment.”  Not exactly the response you hope to get from your new leader, but perhaps he is prepared to just let the on-ice play do the talking.


     
    12 – It seems that the entire league is paying attention to the last season of future Hall of Famer, Thomas O’Malley’s, career.  Despite being on a great team and having a fairly difficult schedule (Stockholm excluded) early on, the star has still produced an impressive twelve goals in fifteen games.  While I don’t think he will reach some of the milestones that many have set out in front of him, I do think it doesn’t really matter for his legacy.  At the end of the day, he has a chance to add some more awards to his already guaranteed first ballot Hall of Fame legacy.  None of this year will change that.  With that being said, this writer certainly hopes that he can at least lead the league in goals and points once again.  While he is slightly behind in points due to the easier Davos schedules and some other talented players near the top, O’Malley is on track to once again be a threat in the goals race.


     
    18 – Lets spend some time talking about a new rookie in LeAndre St. Pierre who is off to an excellent start with eighteen points (and eleven goals) in just sixteen games.  For many, he is the obvious favourite for the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy and he was mine as well.  I have said before that he is my single greatest regret when it comes to drafting when I was GM of New York, and I stand by that.  St. Pierre is a future star in this league and if his start to the season is any indication, he is on his way to becoming a clear impact forward for the Toronto Legion.

    You know, I remember when I was all but set to draft you and then you were snatched up from me.  Ended up going with Ruutu instead, so it worked out.
     
    Glad to see you here.  
     
    That draft actually went real well for me (S43).  Despite taking Delicious over Wingate (various reasons led me to doing that...cough Jericho)..I still got two of the best seven players in the draft at 8 and 11.

    Who will be switching? Are you concerned now that we only have one center, regarding faceoffs? Is someone going to switch to center to compensate? 
     
    Just curious. Still like picking up depth and bolstering out our roster, especially getting that third defender as going 6/3 is far better than going 6/2.

    Most would probably agree that the Toronto Legion have needed a logo upgrade for awhile now. I reached out to VHL Historian @Victor for more information. It seems that the Legion probably upgraded to this logo around S23-24, which is about the time that all eight of the original franchises got new, original logos. Previously they had been free to use any logo, stolen or not, which is exactly what they had been using. For most of their existence up until that time, this was the Toronto logo:
     

     
    Apparently there was also another unpopular logo that floated around the team for a couple of seasons after the first decade of the VHL, but this bird logo is what you'll find on the old Legion documents, such as retired numbers. Of course, this is a modification of the Washington Capitals alternate logo, which is why it was removed. However, I do think it has a better sense of symbolism for the Legion name than even the current logo, which I'll get into shortly. Either way, I decided when I took over that the team needed a new logo, a fresh take on one of the original VHL franchises. During this process, I spoke with VHL administrators, team icons and past GMs to get a sense of what the team should represent, why decisions were made in past logos and where the team should head. A special shoutout to @Knight, who multiple seasons ago was the biggest inspiration and help in determining a new direction. I think he really got where I was thinking the team should go and gave me some good feedback on my ideas. He may not remember it, but it stuck out to me. 
     
    "Legion"
     
    Nothing about the team name is really represented in the current logo. There is a military helmet, which I suppose is supposed to be the iconic imagery, but the truth is, that style of helmet and branch of the armed forces has almost no correlation with a Legion. Legion should harken back to an older time, specifically, the Roman Legion, the most notable usage of the term in all of history. What the current logo does, is reference the city, Toronto. I suppose that is fine - but I'd also say it is unnecessary. Look at the other VHL logos today, almost none of them, with the exception of maybe Davos, has any relation to the location of the team. The logos represent the mascot of the team. I think that is how it should be with a team logo. 
     
    "For most of the Roman Imperial period, the legions formed the Roman army's elite heavy infantry" This is the route I wanted to take. The Roman Legion stood out above the rest as the best representation of this idea of a Legion. The most common definitions for Legion predominantly include vast numbers, specifically those who are ready for battle, etc. So focusing on the best of those groups was my plan. I decided to find the best way to represent these groups:
     
    "From 104 BC onwards, each legion used an aquila as its standard symbol. The symbol was carried by an officer known as aquilifier and its loss was considered to be a very serious embarrassment, and often led to the disbanding of the legion itself. Normally, this was because any legion incapable of regaining its aquila in battle was so severely mauled that it was no longer effective in combat."
     
    Aquila
     
    An aquila seemed very important to a Legion, and so I went deeper into its meaning. "An aquila, or eagle, was a prominent symbol used in ancient Rome, especially as the standard of a Roman legion. A legionary known as an aquilifier, or eagle-bearer, carried this standard. Each legion carried one eagle. The eagle was extremely important to the Roman military, beyond merely being a symbol of a legion. A lost standard was considered an extremely grave occurrence, and the Roman military often went to great lengths to both protect a standard and to recover it if lost."
     
    Now, I don't know if that was the intention with the original, stolen logo - but an eagle couldn't be anymore perfect to represent a legion. It symbolizes the group being one, it gives them something to protect and to serve, it gives them a reason to fight. What else could you ask for in imagery for your team?
     
    Unsurprisingly, imagery related to legions depicted this well, an eagle was about the most common symbol used with legions. Such as:
     
     
     
    At this point, I've probably rambled on long enough. The point is, I'm excited for Toronto to have a new logo, hopefully one that people like a lot more than the previous versions, but also one that fits the team and the name. I wanted to be fresh, but also reference the past. This isn't a completely new direction for Toronto, just a better take on an old one. This is the same Toronto Legion, but with a new mark on our chest. This, and we, are the Toronto Legion.
     
    For the one person who actually read this far, without further ado, here is the new Toronto Legion logo:

    A trick that has always worked wonders for me is to throw a high scoring forward on the point on the power play. Just a thought. 
     
    Also I think ADV was going for more balance. Realistically O'Malley can be a good passer or a good scorer given how close his two attributes are. But having Light who is far more of a playmaker play with someone who is far more of a scorer is a wise decision. But Ruutu does have 90 scoring, and Shock is at 83 for each, so he's kind of a wash on being one way or the other.
