  1. So we will know what's going on when Mancini starts throwing games
  2. Someone sure loves boobs...
  3. you are obviously an animal (and I mean that in the most positive way)
  4. VHL Player name: Callum Gary Yannick Janser Render Name: Moritz Seider Preferred colours: Whatever Saskatoon's colours are any extra details: preferred number is 7 if at all possible to swap/include
  5. I see a pattern here... (JK I remember well the S83 season where we were in a rebuild, but DaD did not get the memo and casually scored 122 points). We got a bonus back then as well...
  6. I read that as the Wranglers' core had to be gutted, to satisfy Strasmore's @Phil atrocious, Neymar-ish financial demands...
  7. Assuming that the Mathilda's lost and apparently Bana is the one to blame for it, will he be evicted from 'Stralia?
  8. S90 Donation Transaction ID: 0L405819SC589560R Doubles week (claiming 20/08/23) 5 uncapped TPE (claiming 20/08/23) 1 Mill Player store
  9. Well, what can I say? I was lucky to have been drafted into such an amazing franchise as the Wranglers are. I met a lot of very good people in this locker room. I of course hoped for a solid career for my player. I did not expect to get so much recognition and success as I did, and with a first Gen player, too. Because of the amazing people in the locker room I wanted to contribute to Calgary's success and wanted to make DJ worth the first round pick Calgary spent to acquire him. So I became a max earner for most of DJ's career. I would never have thought that the #22 will be lifted to the rafters, but of course I am humbled and honoured that after 50+ seasons there is a new 'rag' joining Labatte, Boulet, Ryback, Slobodzian, Bunclewirth and Company. To all Wranglers new and old, and to all the people who supported me, who gave me constructive feedback on my articles (or read them for that matter) or chatted with me occasionally: Thank you so much for giving me your time of the day. It is something of the most valuable things to give, yet it is rarely appreciated. I really do appreciate this community and its members and love to spend time with you folks, while following our imaginary players being screwed by Simon T.
  10. Callum was wondering, how he could possibly improve his checking game as well as defensive prowess. So he called his dad, which is a retired two-way forward and knows a thing or two on the matter. 'Dad, can you give me some tips how to improve my body work and my defence?' 'Son, if you want to learn something, you need to learn from the best. Luckily for you, I still have the contact deets of the guy I learned my trade from. I think his sorry ass is in Mississauga right now, which is of course an advantage. I mail you the specifics.' 'Thanks, dad.' 'Don't mention it.' So young Callum called the player upon receipt of the phone number, and three days later he was seen doing workout in his gramps' yard. And who was lying in the deck chair, shades on, ice cold margarita in hand, shouting instruction to the Swiss talent? None other than Calgary legend and former captain Phil 'The Rock' Johnson. With such a mentor, what could possibly go wrong?
  11. Graphic courtesy of Leandrofg (Marcel's stats/Daniel's stats) The Calgary Wranglers have made an early exit in the S89 post-season. It was kind of foreseeable as the Albertan franchise had struggled with consistency all season. Chief amongst them their parting captain, who has announced his retirement earlier in the season. He was for the eighth time a point per game scorer in the regular season, but could not repeat the stellar S85-87 numbers. Now an era has come to an end. Dan was one of the longest serving captains in Calgary's long and illustrious history, second only to Marcus Hurley. He brought the Wranglers a cup after one of the longest cup draught in the league's history. He was an offensive dynamo, until age took its toll, and was always not too good to muck his hands with body work. Janser is amongst the top five all time for the Red, White and Black for any significant forward statitistics. So it should come as no surprise, that after the 2-0 loss at the hands of the Wolves, which sealed Calgary's fate in the S89 playoffs, the home crowd in the Saddle Dome, chanted his name. They would not stop, until their Captain would come back from the locker room and do a lap of honour. Already before, players of the opposing team like fellow S81 draftee Nico Pearce or elite defence man PEB as well as Polish wonder Henry Eagles congratulated the Swiss center for his remarkable career. After the Rotkreuz native acknowledged the standing ovations, he was surprised when the Calgary host announced that there will be a ceremony in direct continuation and that Daniel should please stay put on the ice. The older Janser was puzzled, but obviously complied. He assumed that he will be given a Swiss watch or something for his service for the Wranglers. He was taken aback when a podium was pushed onto the ice and GM Ricer as well as AGM Boudreaux entered the stage. All his team mates and even some retired veterans like Lindbergh and Kotkakoivu attended the proceedings. The brass held a speech about Daniel's merits in the Calgary uniform and announced that his beloved number 22 will not ever be worn by any other Wrangler ever again. An honour which has not been extended to a Calgary player since S35, when Ryback's #49 was retired. Daniel after his last game for Calgary (graphic courtesy of Rockstar) Our Canadian correspondent Jean-Luc Lieuxperroux (JLL), interviewed the apparently touched Calgary captain at this occasion. JLL: 'Daniel, what a moment for you. How are you feeling?' Daniel (DJ): 'Well I am overwhelmed, plain and simple. When I came to Calgary, I have been (and still am) in awe about the names in the rafters. Obviously being a fellow Swiss, Scott Boulet was the one closest to my heart. It was a special moment when I received the award which was named after him.' JLL: 'Some press outlets would argue, that it should be Marcel's jersey up there, instead of yours, as he was arguably the better Janser.' DJ (laughs): 'You know I read the article in question and the author makes some valid points. Marcel made more out of his talent then I did. He won a WJC and two consecutive Continental Cups. He never had a negative +/- statistic in his VHL career. These are all feats I was not able to emulate. I agree with Molly's statement that stay at home defenders are often overlooked unless they produce massive amounts of hits and/or shots blocked. However, that is not the type of player Marcel is. He flies under the radar, because he prevents plays from even happening with his criminally underrated Hockey IQ. He converts his team's end of the ice into a non-comfort zone for the opposition, alas without taking too many penalties. He does it in a non-entertaining way, rarely making the highlight reel. But this is exactly what you as a coach want from your defenders first and foremost: to make your own zone as interesting as watching paint dry. Having said that, contrary to our perennial competitor for talent, the NHL, we have at least an award dedicated to the contribution of defensive minded blue liners.' JLL: 'That is true. And on that bombshell I wish to congratulate you to your amazing career as well as a nice after-party.' DJ: 'Thanks mate, appreciate it.' Please find the Jansers' VHL career stats as well for one final time: Marcel (regular season): 362gp, 31g, 150a, 181pts, +119, 304 PIM, 431 hits, 628sb, 7gwg, 12ppg, 1shg Marcel (playoffs): 60gp, 7g, 25a, 32pts, +8, 55 PIM, 78 hits, 94sb, 6ppg Daniel (regular season): 576gp, 314g, 422a, 736pts, +173, 775 PIM, 1,590 hits, 399sb, 52gwg, 53ppg, 3shg Daniel (playoffs): 61gp, 31g, 41a, 72pts, +10, 107 PIM, 141 hits, 39sb, 6gwg, 10ppg, 1shg https://vhlforum.com/topic/138041-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-shocking-announcement/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/138044-cgy-jansers-reflection/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/138198-a-tale-of-two-brothers-on-the-final-lap/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/138702-a-tale-of-two-brothers-end-of-the-watch/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/138762-cgy-enjoying-the-playoffs/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/138804-a-tale-of-two-brothers-an-interview/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/138869-do-we-value-defensive-players/
  12. 1. I was surprised about the scale of it. On the other if you have to go through a rebuild, you can as well rip off the Band and and do it right. 2. I am looking forward to the M draft and where c.g.y. will Land. 3. I already have a plan and follow it. Callum is a defensive behemoth with little to no effect on the offensive side, just like intended. 4. Probably at the bottom of the conference. I fear the playoff steak one of the longest in league history comes to an end. 5. We Went two weeks to Denmark for holidays. 6. I am not a big travelling person but irland and scotland somehow intrigue me.
  13. In other words: for once Jacob could play Boss and tell his old man what to do .
  14. Catia Gonçalves to Calgary confirmed?
  15. This is a Feature going back some time when a user used the above mentioned term instead of 's.nubbed'... and so it began.
  16. Callum was digging a luau pit in his gramps' backyard when his phone rang. As he did not recognize the number he was tempted not to answer it, especially since it appeared to be a Chinese number. Finally he decided to pick it up. 'Janser', he said. The voice on the other side asked 'Do I have the honoul to speak with Callum Galy Jansel, defendel fol the Mississauga Hounds?' 'You have, mate but whatever you are selling, I ain't buying it.' He was about to hang up the phone when the other person said: 'No Mistel Jansel, you missundelstand. This is Bluce Campbell, GM of Team Asia in the WJC and we wanted to tell you that we nominated you to play fol oul team.' 'Cool,' said Callum, 'Wait, did you just say Team Asia? I thought I am only eligible for Team Canada and Team Europe.' 'Well due to some loopholes in the lules and financial backing of oul sponsols KFC, we could make it possible.' 'In that case I am yours to command. Send me the details and I will be there asap.' After discussing all the necessary details Cal-Gary thought to himself: 'I never thought I would dress for Asia on an international level.' Disclaimer: the author was not using the 'l for r' trope to mock/ridicule Asians or people with Asian background. It was simply used as an artificial mean to convey an Asian accent.
  17. Missed opportunity to exclaim 'holy ollie' when the ruckus happened.
  18. Huh never thought I would dress for asia, but I will take it. Let's go folks.
